Um... from my understanding...
-chan = cute, younger-than-you (usually girls or very young boys), feminine, social friends (used for girls/effeminate boys), pet-name usage (feminine)
-kun = social inferior, masculine, social friends (used for guys/masculine females), younger-than-you (usually guys)
-san = social equal, respected
-sama = social superior to the point of worship
(no honorific) = very, very, very, very intimate.

.. ... I am not socially inferior! scream
I'd laugh if somebody called me Silver-sama. Nobody holds me in that high of a respect.

I don't think it was used in that sense, Silver. I think it's the friend sense. The terms are used in-context. :3

You've got the idea, not that I know much of the stuff. My late grandmother was Japanese. The rest of my family isn't. It's still strange to my eyes/ears to see/hear people who aren't Japanese use the terms, but it's beyond common on Gaia, so... I never watched anime, either, and there's really no Asian community in this part of the world, so my only experience hearing the terms was with that part of my family.

Well now... What else is there to do? Should we assign honorifics to everyone in the ATG? O.o
