Miyuki shrugged she didn't know the proper name and didn't even know the general name for such an instrument.
"I don't know, I just know that it's long and she sits to play it, it has to be lying flat, it has a lot of strings but I've never counted them. When she plays, she puts these I guess picks? On her fingers on her right and plucks the strings and uses her left I think.. to either set the tune or stop the vibration of the string."
While she was describing this, she wondered if Lancaeriel played any other instruments than the lyre.

The woman pursed her lips thoughtfully. "It sounds like a dulcimer," she said slowly, "or ... at least a variation of it ... zither, maybe ..."
She looked up, momentarily distracted as the shop door opened and another customer entered. It was Lancaeriel. She didn't seem to notice Andarien and Miyuki at first, as her eyes were fixed on the closest wall of instruments.
"Welcome," the musician greeted Lancaeriel warmly. "If you need anything, just let me know."
Lancaeriel looked over when she heard the greeting, and she smiled. "Thank you, I will."
Then she saw the children. "Oh! Miyuki! Andarien!" she beamed. "So this is what you're up to today. Are you enjoying the town?"

Miyuki actually had to think about it, because her mind sprung first to the argument. Which she didn't think either her or her brother wanted to bring up.
"Yes," she nodded, "We had lunch in a restaurant, and it was really good. We had been to some other places before then with everyone else, but mother thought it would be a good idea if Andarien and I went and wandered."

Lancaeriel smiled warmly. "Yes, I can see how that would be a good idea," she agreed. "You are both so very busy, it seems you hardly spend any time together."
Andarien wondered briefly if everyone thought the same thing about him and his sister, but he felt it wasn't worth pressing.
"How about you?" he asked her curiously. "What are you doing out here?"
Lancaeriel laughed softly, her eyes sparkling as she looked around the shop. "Well, I came to see about new strings for my lyre, but I must admit that I'm curious about all of these instruments now," she grinned. "There are many that I have not seen before, and others that are different from what I'm used to seeing. I'd like to try out a few of them, perhaps even make a purchase. To those with a life such as mine, music is a magic of its own classification."

It was hard to forget how hold Lancaeriel was, including all the times she was reborn. So, Miyuki could understand the allure of the different instruments. She was sure that was why Shiro also took up music playing. It was one of the few things he didn't breeze through.
He still went through it really quickly from her understanding, but not at the same rate as everything else.
"So was I," Miyuki admitted with a smile, "That's why we're in here, but got caught up in the kind of instruments others in the traveling group play."
As well as the comparisons between instruments.

Lancaeriel smiled again. "Well, don't let me stop you," she murmured. "I'll just wander on my own and listen in as you go." She turned to the musician. "Is it all right if I try out some of the instruments?"
The woman nodded and smiled gently. "Of course. And if you have any questions, feel free to interrupt."
"Yeah, we won't mind," Andarien beamed.

By the time they were done at the music shop, they had come away with a bit more knowledge and a promise to have Shiro and Naida drop by sometime. Miyuki had also been toying on getting something but she would have to learn that too, and there probably wasn't any room in her day to really learn another instrument.
Not that she could buy one at the moment even if she had been seriously considering it.
Not having yet found their original group they came with, the two continued to wander around the town.

Lancaeriel stayed back at the music shop after Andarien and Miyuki left, but Andarien didn't mind. He was enjoying spending time with Miyuki. It was a rare opportunity.
"So where should we go next?" he asked Miyuki cheerfully as they wandered the street. "We still don't know where Ada and Nana are."
After a pause, he added, "I wonder if River and Jess stayed around or if they went back to Wing Hove."

"I don't know, they might have stayed to just spend time with each other," Miyuki murmured.
She hoped they didn't go back, because then she would be worried it was her fault that they did.
"How about you choose the next spot?"

Andarien didn't know what to do all of a sudden. Part of him wanted to go back to the glass shop and get some more information about whether or not the man could make the parts he wanted, and part of him wanted to see if there were other craftsmen who might be able to make them. But his brain was telling him that it would be a bad idea to suggest something like that, since that was what had caused the first argument between him and Miyuki in the first place.
"Uhh ..."
He didn't even know what to suggest. He wasn't used to cities and didn't know what kinds of shops he could even expect to see.
"I said we should talk to the music lady," he said at last. "How about you pick the next place?"

Miyuki thought about it, and she looked very thoughtful.
"Let's go and see if there's a Jeweler around here," she finally replied.
She said this not only because she liked jewelery, but because she knew that those who made it made things of a lot finer detail than the metal smith. She remembered Andarien had asked the metal smith too, and she was sure it had to do with gears.
However, she only saw large objects, not the fine small ones like a jeweler would with the small chains and pins and other types of jewelery.
She looked at him, "You were asking the metal smith about gears too right? A jeweler works with metal but on a much smaller scale. Like fine detail, like mother and ada's necklaces."

Andarien opened his mouth to protest - after all, hadn't she said that he wouldn't find anyone here who would be able to make the gears he needed? - but he very quickly changed his mind and closed his mouth and nodded. He wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"You think he might be able to do it, then?" he asked, rubbing his temple gently.

Miyuki admitted, "The truth is, I don't know. I don't know the process in jewelery making and I noticed each... culture? Society? We've been to, they have different things they like to make jewelery of, so it's not completely the same."
And she was pretty sure each place had their trade secrets.
"But... if you really want to try here, a jeweler deals with small things so it's a guess if they deal with small metal things, they might be able to make small metal gears."

Andarien pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Huh ... yeah, that makes sense. Do you know where the jeweler might be? We haven't seen most of this street yet, not even half of it. Should we start looking here?"
He looked up and down the street. Unfortunately, very few of the shops had signs hanging out front of their buildings, preferring to have their shop's name painted on the front window or something similar instead.

Miyuki shook her head, "I haven't got a clue. I guess we could wander down the street and take a glance at the windows."
Since that was where the signs were, which when she thought about it, in Gaia this wasn't so different. For the most part.
"And maybe ask where the jeweler might be."
