☸ Alan Brandt ☸

Alan stood close to Reed, the multitude of people making him anxious once again. Maybe this was a bad idea, he thought as two students nearly knocked him over as he attempted to grasp Reed's shirttail. He held back whimper at the fear climbing up his throat, only for it all to suddenly disappear as the students back off. He breathed deeply, although kept his grip on Reed's shirt. He wouldn't let go until he needed to, which would probably be in a few minutes. Two men approached them, one very tall and very intimidating, reminding Alan more of his father than anyone else, and the other smaller, but with softer features. He could've passed for a woman, but Alan knew better. He'd been mistaken for a woman in the past plenty of times, and he could tell this man had been too. Also, it helped that the man's walk wasn't really as feminine as his countenance.
"Well, of course," he said, nudging Reed as the man cleared up his gender for the band director. "Don't mind Reed, he's not exactly the brightest bulb." He released Reed and smiled at the two men, a strange sight for the students in the room that had him as a teacher. "I'm Alan Brandt, I teach advanced physics. Mr. de Févin has kindly agreed to allow me watch the class for a few hours, in order to help me complete my latest thesis. Please, don't mind me." He didn't have much else to say, so the youthful teacher shut his mouth, slender build and cute face beside the masculine, gruff Reed nearly a strange sort of mirror to the young Japanese twosome before them. But at least no one confused Alan for a female anymore, since he cut his hair and kept it short.

"I have a class, but the Chemistry teacher insisted I let him take over for the first three," he answered, tucking his hands into his pockets and his smile never once faltering. "As for my paper, it's on sound waves according to different instruments. I've had to learn several instruments from different sections, but my paper's nearly finished due to it." His tone never once changed from it's gentle, friendly tone, as if he were speaking to investors for his lab instead of two people he'd just met. He didn't know why he wanted to make a good impression to these two men. He just did. After Reed left the conversation, Alan watched after him and narrowed his eyes. "What the hell's going on with him?" he mumbled before looking back to the two men. "It was nice meeting you. Good luck with the kids." He nodded at them, then started towards the office, reaching for Reed's sleeve and catching his hand instead. Not thinking much of it, Alan held tightly. "Hey, what's going on with you? You're acting weird."

"Alright, if you're sure." Alan pulled his cell phone out as the boy walked in, shaking his head as he texted Dexter to bring them lunch. This was going to be a long day. The physicist walked over to Reed's chair, setting a hand on the back of it and watching the young student prepare.

Around two hours later, Dexter finally walked in, holding two doggy bags and looking for the office. He looked around, then beelined for the office. Peeking inside and seeing a student preparing to leave, the man knocked and held up the bags, grinning. "Food?" he called, waiting for who he suspected to be Reed to nod the okay.

Alan rushed over to the door, wrapping his arms around one of Dexter's strong arms and tugging him inside with a happy smile. "Dex, you didn't forget!" he cheered, making the elder male laugh at him. "Didja get those cute little cakes i asked you to?"
"Of course, how could I ever forget?" he answered, deep voice contrasting with Alan's lighter one. He held out the bags for Alan to take, who only took his own and rushed back to the desk, pulling up a chair and already digging into the bag. Dexter rubbed the back of his neck as he held the other bag, then gestured for Reed to take it. "You must be Reed, then. Alan never stops talking about you."
Alan grunted from his position, mouth filled with a miniature cake ball.
The elder teacher only laughed once more, shaking his head at him. "You know, ever since he's started talking to you, he's gotten less angry and more adorable. Good work, kid."

Alan swallowed the cake and smiled cheekily at them, pointing at the chemist. "Oh, I almost forgot! Reed, this is Dexter Olsen. He's the new chemistry teacher that I told you about." After a nod from Dexter, Alan quickly returned to eating his cakes, happily digging into them like a little boy just getting dessert.
"Yeah, Alan here and I have known each other since my first day. He's been helping me out here and there. I figured I'd return the favor when he called me and said he'd be late. Besides, I never could resist a cute face." Dexter couldn't help but wonder what the story between the two men was now. He was certain that Alan's little crush on Reed, which even he didn't notice yet, was sure to come out, but based on Reed's reactions to the kid, especially that blush, he just had to ask. Chuckling at Alan, who was far too invested in his treats, Dexter leaned in closer to Reed, a mischievous grin on his face. "So, what's the story between you two? Have you asked him out yet?" He leaned on the wall, crossing his arms and biting his lip in anticipation. "The kid's clueless about you, so unless you act fast, he's going to completely dedicate you to the friendzone."

"Is everything okay over there?" called Alan, a bit of frosting on his nose from the cupcake he was in the middle of eating.
The chemist nodded, waving a hand. "Yeah, we're fine. just talking about football!" Once a satisfied Alan returned to his food, Dexter raised an eyebrow and smirked knowingly. "Yeah, that's why you don't want him to hear us discussing it, why you blush every time you look at him, and why you've practically got "I love Alan" tattooed on your forehead." He pulled his phone out, holding it up for Reed to read the text messages from last night sent to him from Alan's phone. Most of the texts centered around one thing: Reed. Oh, Reed's so funny! He's so smart! He's so nice! The last one before that morning was something a little less normal. All it said was "kiss". Point made, Dexter had to stop himself from flicking Reed's forehead. "I'm pretty sure he likes you too, but he's never going to try anything unless you try it first."
