Yoru began to feel uncomfortable. He felt as if he was intruding on Nathan's life. He walked back as he finished buttoning his shirt and putting his shoes on. "Nathan forgive me. If you wish for me to leave I will. I promise I will not be a burden."

Nathan shook his head frantically at Yoru, holding his hand out - he had a feeling she didn't mean his adopted human father...
"Mum, s-sit down? Yoru... please come here..."

Yoru walked back to Nathan's side. "Look if you have some business to take care of then I will leave you be and guard you from afar while you take care of everything. I fear that if I stay I will only be getting in your way."

She shook her head. "Not what I meant. Just... could you protect him if you were on earth and he was in Heaven? How long for? And... I don't understand the stranger part - oh." She turned to her son.
"A stripper or someone like that that you've fallen for, Nathan?"
"No! And you know I haven't had any kind of relationship for seven years, mum!" Nathan protested, before comprehending what was being said.
"Heaven...?"

Yoru was now beginning to understand. He nodded. "Yes I am very capable but only if he so wishes. I am not able to enter such a place just for pleasure but I would do anything to protect him. I would give my life for your son ma'am."

Great. Not here. But I don't think I can handle the selfless stuff... argh, being an Angel sucks. Nathan grumbled with a cough.

Nathan's mother ran to him, hugging him tightly before letting go. "Just be careful, alright?" she whispered, pecking his cheek and then leaving in a hurry.
The Angel turned to Yoru. "I haven't been very 'Angelic' recently. Haven't felt like being that way for nearly five years. So I'm not sure I can manage it right now.

Nathan turned at the voice, unprepared for what a sight he saw.
Leathers, a dog collar and some kind of cross-shaped weapon dangling from his wrist as though it weighed nothing.
His mouth dropped open - all black.
No white, pearly wings.
Nothing 'Angelic' or kind about his face or expression.
Perfect. We Angels don't have to be all 'Kind to the World'!
Nathan turned to Yoru. "Maybe you should go to your apartment, and I'll call when we finish the discussion - the second I'm done, alright?" he asked softly, unwilling to give an order.
We'll soon stop that hesitation and pound the ability to order and decide into him... The Angel thought, waiting for Yoru to leave and trying not to glare.
Of course, the first few months will be brutal for him...
