Hehe. If you want to get really technical, it's kind of weird for California to be in the Sophomore class, actually. Everyone else in the class are nations/states that got their start in the 1400s and 1500s at the latest whereas the Freshman class is dominantly 1600s and beyond. California honestly should fall into the Freshman class going by age, but I think Silicon Valley is more than enough of an excuse to say he was able to jump to a higher grade. Seychelles might be the only exception who is significantly older than the other students in the Freshman class.

If you're going to start CA's history based on when Francis Drake used the west coast as a pit stop before crossing the Pacific then I might have to change FL to absolutely DESPISING CA. Sir Francis Drake was an English pirate who terrified the Spanish colonies and did some really horrible things to FL... To be honest, I don't think the Spanish even got near CA until the 1540s and I'm pretty sure they didn't start colonization until the mid 1700s.

Yeah, see, I don't even try to have it so that Georgia has a specific date. I acknowledge that he started keeping tabs on himself in 1732 when Oglethorpe chartered him as a British territory, but the simple fact is that Natives lived there and I'm sure ships of all sorts more than likely stopped within Georgia's border at some point or another in order to go from England and almost any other European country to the Gulf whenever they weren't stopping in Florida first-- more than likely pirates which is why I have it so that Georgia was so gullible that he frequently ended up foolishly trusting pirates since those were his first "visitors" back when he was a black-haired, tanned baby. XD

Since my NC was the first state in the guild I didn't know where to really place her. Originally I went by the first colony made in America by the British, for that's where a lot of the North Carolina History Books start off. Although France was the first to discover her, the king wasn't interested so it wasn't until Britain came along that a European Colony was made in North Carolina. However basing off the Lost Colony of Roanoke make's it look like a far stretch on NC's age and creates some conflicts with the other states.
After the lost of Roanoke, it wasn't until after Virgina and the Northern Colonies were formed that the Providence of Carolina was formed. It wasn't until shortly after that did the Providence split into North and South. And just like most of the other Colonies, NC had natives around those times, which just doesn't lead to a defined age, if I continued to use this. So just to make things simple and more clear, I separated Roanoke Colony from the NC we now know.

Yeah, I've been trying to stick as close to Hetalia cannon as possible with my OCs. In the manga it says that a "unique American culture" didn't develop "until the 17th century" which puts America the character as forming/being born in the 1600s. So I've designed all my characters as when their "unique" cultures first formed which eventually develop into states. I assume that since most of the natives are now federally recognized nations with governments separate and distinct from states that they should be personified independently as their own unique cultures. It's a lot easier to make sense of historically, too, considering the states/colonies have always politically and socially treated natives like independent nations even though there is a lot of shared history between them.
But I've been trying to remain vague about it for the sake of the RP since there's no 100% consensus among the fan bases how these things should be done and it's too much effort to try to get everybody to agree on one set path. *shrugs*

... Oh yeah. I forgot about all that Drake stuff. xd I think one major mishap is bad enough--Romania and Venezuela have active relations IRL but IRP they hate each other. I don't want to face another major personality change and I want to keep the current brotherly dynamic, so... CA leapfrogged his way into the sophomore year because (my freshie year sucked) of Silicon Valley! And VE (who I know nothing about prior to the 1500s either) bullied his way into the senior year (because that was the year I HAD looked forward to) by swordpoi--!! Never. Menton. That. Well honestly it's weird for Georgia to be in the sophomore class too. He's been around since I believe the 4th century B.C. if I remember correctly. This whole RP is full of people who were improperly placed I'm sure. But I say it's okay, because people can skip grades or be held back in real life, so why not in Hetalia High. I mean in high school what grade you're in has more to do with how smart you are than how old you are.

Also, Lili is also one of the freshmen that's "improperly placed" if we were to go based off of the age. With her, finding an exact age is hard since she was part of Austria as a sort of vacation home for the wealth aristocrats, but then the prince of Austria who owned her gave her independence. Then she became a part of the Holy Roman Empire in 1719. She stayed with them for a while before becoming independent once more in 1806. Her history from there consists of countries going through Liechtenstein, claiming ownership of her for a bit, and then abandoning her to her own devices once more after only a few years at most of owning the small territory between Switzerland and Austria. This constant being taken over and then set free once more is part of why Liechtenstein finally decided to get rid of the small army she used to own and has now gone nearly half a century or more with no form of ability to protect herself since I know the Liechtensteiner Army was dissolved sometime before WWI began.
I won't lie, I simply placed her there because even though I'm convinced she's probably older than America, she just doesn't look like a sophomore or a junior, and she knows it. She is a very smart person, but "she decided" it would be best to go to the freshman class since she's been "home schooled" all of her life and thinks it would be for the best to try and adjust to high school life starting with freshman year.

Tennessee was disappointed to see a lack of familiar faces. Perhaps he was just over looking them, but no other states stuck out. He was fairly certain he'd spotted America somewhere in the crowd, but he'd probably be too busy hanging out with other Juniors and Nations.
Even if he couldn't spot any of his fellow American states, maybe he could try his hand at international relations with a foreign state. He spotted Cherelle sitting by herself. She didn't look familiar and he'd never heard America talk about a nation by her description (which, of course, meant she couldn't be a nation if America didn't talk about her). He smiled and walked over to Seychelles to see if he could make friends with this "state."

First In Character
Francis walked into the cafeteria with Antonio. Where was Gilbert? No sign of- SEYCHELLES!!! Okay, so she wasn't who he was looking for, but he was thrilled to see her here. It's actually kind of funny that he didn't know she was at the school, despite the fact that they share a dorm. (Then again, he came home late, passed out, and then wandered to school late-- well, possibly early for Seychelles.) He nudged Antonio and then pointed a thumb in the direction of his sister. He then winked and put a finger over his lips before he let go of his friend and crept over towards the smaller country.
Oh, what's this? Someone Francis didn't recognize was trying to make nice with his sister. Well, he wanted her attention first, so this other guy was going to have to wait. He came up behind the Freshman, grinned widely, before he threw his arms into the air. "Cherelle~!" Before she could have any time to react, he quickly snatched her up into a brotherly hug and nuzzled the back of her head with his cheek. He was still slightly wet from the rain from when Ludwig made him and the rest of the people skipping school off campus come back. "I missed you~!" He then sat her back in her seat before he turned to the state, grinned, and said, "She's all yours!" before he ran off before any consequences could ensue for the public display of affection.
Of course, where he ran to was back over to the Spaniard's side. The Frenchman beamed happily, quite proud of what he had just done (even if it meant he was probably going to pay for it later). As patient and laid back as Seychelles could be, she seemed to be a little less patient whenever Francis was around. With good reason, of course.

I was extremely upset from the recent house fire at my mom’s house, plus I was super busy with the school musical and such, so although you were one of the people I didn’t mind going up to in the introduction forum and talking to, I really didn’t want to talk to you or get to know you. I honestly didn’t like you. But with Georgia being friends with FL he was kind forced to associate with CA and through that I began to like you, Romero and Landon. (For some reason I really didn’t like Romero *shrugs* IDK But I like him now (: )
