@ Kiwi, make friends with the people on your corridor... and speak to as many people as you can! Also at freshers fayre take as many freebies as you can. They come in handy later
Don't sleep in lectures and try not to go out if you have a lecture before like noon the next day!

If you can download the power-point your lecturers will be using, this makes taking notes easier as many of the main points will already been on the slides so you are just elaborating.
Be on time. Lecturers notice if you're late and usually try and embarrass you in front of the whole lecture hall.
If you're only doing a subject for one year and it's not important to your degree (like you had to take an extra class to make up credits) just borrow the textbook from the library
TEXTBOOKS ARE EXPENSIVE. Try and buy second hand where you can. Otherwise a LOT of your money at the start of the year is on textbooks.
BUDGET!
Don't drink too much XD
Stay sensible
Don't be a jerk to people!
STUDY..... once you get into second year. First year isn't TOO hard usually so you won't need to study as much. But it's not constant study.
And yeh, enjoy yourself!

I'll add to Peo's tips.
The best way to make friends is to be a friend.
Sleep? Oh heck no! NEVER sleep in a lecture. If you think you are going to sleep just miss the lecture. It's better to get good sleep then nap fitfully and miss most of the lecture anyway. I mean the ideal thing is to get enough sleep the night before.
ALWAYS prepare your printed lecture notes. The lecture's often assume you have them so they talk at insane speeds and flick through slides like crazy.
READ SUGGESTED MATERIAL.
Try to be on time but if you are late then don't worry. It's better to be late then not show up at all. I'm alwaysssssss late my lectures know this XD
Wait a few weeks to see if you need the text book or you can just use the library copy.
If you decide to buy your text book then look around to see if anyone is selling old ones to get them cheaper.
Yup first year is fun. Don't worry, they don’t expect much from first years.
Carry a map with you.
Be organised.
Make friends with the lectures and tutors. They are nice people and you can pump them for info.

crazy__kiwi sikh-91 crazy__kiwi sikh-91 heart First day was great <3 I made a new friend the moment I stepped in that building at Uni. 4laugh OMG you started this week! Has it all been ok so far? Any tips? I start on sunday ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Im nowhere near packed up in any way and im sooooooooo nervous! Omg, you start Uni too?! :O Well, no lectures yet, just picking modules and enrolment week ;D I was super nervous too D: Tips - be a social butterfly and don't be afraid to ask questions. I probably seemed like the dumbest person when I totally messed up choosing my modules xD This was woman sat next to me, so she helped me, and I was like OMG THANK YOU! Get there early to familiarise yourself with the place. Take something to entertain you while you wait (like.. phone to play games on)... pretty much that I can think of. Good luck kiwi <3 Let me know how it went/goes! heart yay tips! Im going to talk to EVERYBODY! I don't care if they don't want to talk to me XD I have to move into a corridor of 20 people I don't know on sunday!!
