Sitting on a protruding limb, Kumiko reached over her head and pulled out the kunai. She inspected it. Once again, it seemed that the tag had begun to burn, but had fizzled out halfway. Very well, then. She would just have to be more precise. Kumiko flung the knife up, interlaced her fingers, and sent out a burst of chakra that was carefully aimed.
The knife soared in a perfect arc to bury itself in the leaves. Kumiko gave a sigh of frustration, beginning to clamber back down. She guessed that her chakra had been too weak. She would have to carefully balance power and precision. This was turning out to be hard than she'd previously thought.

On the last branch, Kumiko, preoccupied with tag-activating strategies, lost her grip on a branch and slipped to fall to the ground. Fortunately, it was not far to fall, and Kumiko recieved nothing but a bruise on her rump.
Kumiko walked over to her bag of tools, and took out a kunai and an exploding tag. She wrapped the tag around the handle of the kunai and impatiently wiped blood out of her eyes. She touched the cut where the kunai shard had sliced her--it wasn't deep, just bleeding slightly. Kumiko adjusted her headband to stem the bleeding and, standing, flicked the kunai into the air, interlaced her fingers, and sent another bolt of chakra towards the kunai.
Again, nothing happened. Kumiko slammed her fist against a nearby tree in frustration. She couldn't think what she was doing wrong! Maybe it was the kunai, maybe the fizzling of earlier had damaged it somehow. Kumiko unraveled the tag from the handle of the knife and tossed it aside carelessly.

Kumiko grabbed another exploding tag and wrapped it around the kunai. She flicked her wrist, sending the kunai flying, and interlaced her fingers, sending a concentrated burst of chakra towards to kunai.
The tag visibly fizzled. Kumiko danced up and down in frustration.

Frustrated, Kumiko interlaced her fingers and clenched her teeth. Carefully, she shaped her chakra, and, putting some force behind it, sent it towards the stationary kunai.
The kunai imploded spectacularly, slashing at the trees. Kumiko smiled, relieved that she'd been doing nothing wrong. She just needed to work on her aim, that was all.

Masanori made his way through the mildly snowy ground, following the sound of explosives to lead him to the girl who'd teach him a new technique. "Dum-di-di-dum" he hummed as he after minutes - reached her. He didn't want to disturb her while she was training, so he continued to hum in between the explosives to get her attention. He was leaning against a tree, his cap slightly covering more of his forhead than it should, and his hands - nicely placed in his jacket pockets.

Kumiko reached for her bag--and stopped. There was a boy leaning against a tree. He looked slightly older than her, and he had a cap casting a shadow over her eyes. He looked familiar...that was the boy that Shinzu had almost killed. Masanori. Kumiko wrapped a tag around the handle of a kunai. "I'm glad to see you're feeling all right," she said expressionlessly, tossing the kunai into the air, interlacing her fingers, and sending chakra towards the knife. It exploded spectacularly, peppering the two with razor-sharp shards. A glittering cloud of powdered steel drifting where the knife had exploded.

"Thank you for your concern," Masanori replied with a bow that seemed somewhat sarcastic. "Might I ask you for your help?" he asked after straightening his back and taking a few steps towards Kumiko. "Do you mind teaching me the basics of that jutsus? I haven't studied ninjutsu for a while and I need to get into that saddle again." He now stood a feet apart from the girl, having a kunai laying in his open palm, with his fingers spread out. Waiting for her to teach.

Kumiko raised an eyebrow at him, then turned back to her work. She grabbed two exploding tags and tossed one toward him. "I can't teach you something I don't know myself," she said, her eyes on the exploding tag that she was wrapping around the handle of her kunai. "I'm not even sure if I'm doing the jutsu correctly."
Kumiko looked at her palm where the shrapnel had pierced it, unwrapped one of the bandages she wore around her wrist, and rewrapped it around her hand. She wiped the blood off of her forehead, turned her back to Masanori, and, with a flick of her wrist, sent the kunai soaring. Quickly, she interlaced her fingers into the snake hand seal and, calling up her chakra, sent an invisible bolt of energy toward the flying knife.
It exploded, although not as neatly as it had before. The kunai broke cleanly in half, the two parts falling onto the bed of leaves beneath, and a slight pall of smoke drifted through the air.

Masanori took a look as the pretty girl wrapped the explosive tag around the kunai before sending it flying. "Hrm.. She may not be able to explain it well. But it seems that you simply send an appropiate amount of chakra through the seal. The seal then has a duration limit before it triggers an explosion." he gently strapped the tag to the kunai before throwing it rather nonchalante over his shoulder, but sending a bit of chakra through it first. "1.. 2.. 3.." then a loud explosion could be heard just five feet away from them. Masanori's jacket flew open and he had to hold his hat down, on the top of his head, due to the preasure.
Of course, Masanori didn't look bothered at all. He tried to look as emotionless as possible. But on the inside he was yelling at himself: "I COULD HAVE ******** DIED!!!! IS THIS GIRL REALLY WORTH IT YOU STUPID ******** p***k?!?!?!! YOU COULD HAVE ATLEAST THROWN IT WITH ALITTLE MORE POWER". But, he just tapped some dust from his shoulder and turned to Komiko to ask for another tag.

Kumiko was equally undisturbed by the violent explosion a few feet away from them. "Not bad," she remarked. "You may want to toss it a few more feet distant though. The shrapnel can be rather dangerous. Also, since the tags are unpredictable and the whole point of the jutsu is long-range activation, it may be prudent to throw the tag and then attempt to detonate it using a hand seal." Kumiko handed him another exploding tag, and then helped herself to two more kunai and exploding tags. She flicked the two high into the air, and then interlaced her fingers into the now-familiar serpent seal. She sent two simultaneous darts of chakra towards the flying knives. One exploded, while the other, fizzling, thunked into a tree trunk.

Masanori accepted the tag once again and placed it around the hilt of his kunai. "I only did it to impress you.. Stupid" he thought to himself as he threw another kunai towards a random direction, this time, he put some power into it. It took the kunai ten feet before it exploded in between a bunch of trees and bushes. "I think I got this covered, do you have bunch of those tags?"

Masanori was mastering the jutsu quicker than Kumiko was, far quicker, which, truth be told, made her a little....well, it made her a little jealous. However, Kumiko had never been one to lie, so she coldly said, "Yes, they're in the bag," and, concentrating her chakra in her feet, scaled the tree and retrieved her kunai.
Kumiko grabbed her kunai and jumped off the tree, landing catlike on the forest floor. She attatched an exploding tag to another kunai and threw the two in quick succesion, sending two rapid darts of chakra after them. Neither detonated, making Kumiko frown. She was so close--she could feel it.

Masanori scoped the area and eventually found the bag where the explosive-tags were laying. He made a quick bow before walking over, bending down to grab a handful to then take a few steps from the opposite stance where Kimiko were, and started to prepare the kunais of his. He laid nine kunais in a straight line on the ground, following by equiping them all with explosive tags.
His idea were to simply sit on the ground, so he could reach the kunais better, to then throw them one after another to make them explode in a long and loud series of explosions. He took a deep breath before reaching out to the first one before throwing it, it exploded shortly after the metal had lost touch from his finger tips.

The secound one were pretty much the same, he reached out with his left hand tough. The kunai reached the same destination as his first one, before imploding - ruzziling the leaves and bushes in the area. He didn't think much of Kumiko during this event. She seemed emotionless when he had tossed that first kunai at such a close range. "She has changed.. Frightening how hard it is going to be to make her mine.."

His fingers grabbed the third kunai and pulled it closer so it laid in his closed palm. He breathed out. He threw it. It exploded. ".. Hrm.. Those trees aren't lookin' too good" he was looking at the two trees that were placed on opposite side of where most of the explosions happend. They were surely to fall after these 8 kunais.

Sweat started to drip down from his head, this chakra polution plus the warth from the blast while wearing these winter clothing. Were though on Masanori. "Hrm.. Maybe this could help with Kumiko" he took of the huge jacket, reaviling a sleveless vest. Reaviling a couple of naked arms. That were constantly flexing since he threw kunais at such an high tempo.

In the moment of all the throwing, the high tempo and the constant action of looking must have made it all too much for Masanori's reflexes to handle so one of the 8 explosive tags didn't manage to explode, it just continued to fly into the distance. "damnit, ah well.. I will fix that later on"

"Just a few more," he told himself "getting really hot.." his arms went fiercly back and forth from grapping to throwing. His instinct grew about the technique and he barely any trouble on inserting the right amount of chakra in each tag. The problem was really in the throwing, to grab and release, to then grab another one.

He was on his last two kunais. It had been some intense training but he had mastered the jutsu rather quickly and didn't have any regrets of lowering himself to Kumiko for letting her "teach" him. He thought that being a sort of person that needs help, once in a while, could really work for him.

"And the last one.." he took a few extra to hold the kunai in his hand, examining it for fun, before thorwing off in the distance. Secounds later an explosion replaced the tiny kunai among the trees. "Hrm.. Better check on that kunai that never had it's tag realeased" he slowly rose from his crouched postion and start to casually walk over.

Kumiko was unperturbed by the explosions that now echoed around her ears. Indeed, she was rather annoyed, as they broke her concentration and it kind of ticked her off that Masanori was learning the jutsu so fast. She felt compelled to rush, but that was ridiculous, so instead, she used almost exaggeratedly deliberate actions as she tossed up her two kunai one after the other, and sent her chakra up.
Nothing happened. Kumiko caught one kunai just in time to deflect the other. She sighed in frustration. A bit of shrapnel from the most recent explosion caught her cheek and she whirled on Masanori. "Watch it!" she snapped. She tried not to notice that he'd removed his jacket and how muscular his arms were, but she failed. This made her even more flustered. She hurriedly turned her back to him and bent her mind to the problem of learning the jutsu.
