Nezrain had a little bit of trouble with ditching her boots and socks, which were already damp from falling into the water. She was glad to be dressed lightly today though, and dashed into the water, as soon as she'd gotten rid of them. "I thought you said you weren't much of a swimmer," she half-asked, half teased her friend, as she waited for her in the shallows, water vacillating between knee and hip height.

"I'm not, I just don't like getting my boots wet," Aki laughs.
She decides to take her skirt off too, revealing tight black mini shorts. She finally follows her friend into the water, though takes it a little slower.
The truth was, she had never really gotten the chance to swim in her childhood. She moved to Trabia when she was six, and the water was much too cold to swim in, so besides what little practice she got before her move, she hadn't been swimming often in her life.

Nezrain waited in the shallows and began to smile without meaning to--happy and surprised by Aki's willingness to try something she had said she really wasn't that interested in, or experience in. In all truth, Nezrain was very much a swimmer. She loved to kick herself beneath the surface and propel herself as long as she could before being forced back up to the air to take a breath. However, it had been some time since she had last swam--the actual mission she had been on, to be precise. As soon as she half-lunged, half-dove into the water, arms arcing forward to pull herself deeper, bits of memories began creeping back to her, though nothing full enough to have a visible effect.
"Come on, the water's perfect!" She called back to Aki, pausing and treading water to allow her to do so.

Madame Royale "I guess it would be a good idea but I'm not really interested in starting up another weapon." Suijin shrugged but smiled, "I'll stick with the staff... speaking of which.." she said, jumping to the staff section. "What kind do you want?" "Heh heh, ok." Shiro said nodding, watching as Suijin jumped over to the staffs. "A cool looking one. That's strong! Probably a metal one that won't break so easily, I'm not exactly gentle with my weapons." He said with a grin as he walked over, looking at the staff selection. He wasn't as big as staff nerd as he was with knuckles, they all kinda looked the same to him. "Which one looks good to you?" He asked, more interested in looking at Suijin than the staffs. Of course he liked a good staff, but a fien woman was so much better.

Aki laughs and wades a little deeper. She walks out until the water is almost at her waist and watches her friend swim gracefully through the waves. It was obvious that Nezrain was a good swimmer, and that she enjoyed it.
"If I start drowning, you'll save me right?" Aki jokes, walking further into the water.

Surfacing and treading water while Aki talked to her, Nezrain stared thoughtfully at the sky for a moment, before raising an eyebrow and replying almost seriously. "I don't know. I may just have some crazy, power-hungry side that will try to usurp Garden from you, and this might just be part of that whole plot." She wasn't so successful in the delivery however, cracking up and breaking into laughter half-way through.
Swimming back to Aki and standing in the water, the shorter girl motioned to the deeper water with her head. "Come on, it'll be fine."

"Well, if you wanna take over that bad.... be my guest," Aki says, giggling at her friend.
She grins, then dives into the water and swims deeper out, surfacing a few feet away. She looks back at Nezrain as she treads water and motions for her to swim out herself.

Nezrain swam back out to meet Aki, diving under the small, gentle waves. Surfacing next to her, she shook her hair out, spraying the other girl with droplets of water.
"Haha, are you kidding? Why the heck would I want all that responsibility? Besides, you know Blank would kill me." She sputtered at first, before laughing at the though of being chased down by a murderous Blank, punishment saber in hand. "Yeah, big no thank you there." Swimming out further, she kept her head above the water's surface, glancing back to make sure Aki was okay, before switching to a backstroke.

"Yeahh... he probably would. He tends to get pretty violent when I'm in danger," Aki says with a little smile, not at the thought of Blank hurting a friend, but at the thought that he was so protective.
She giggles and follows Nezrain out. She flips over onto her back and floats for a few minutes, staring up at the darkening sky.

Suijin noticed that Shiro was paying more attention to her more than staffs but only acknowledged it with a smile. "When I was first being trained with the staff, I used a wooden one. It was light since I wasn't too strong," she looked over the various staffs. There were different types in wood, metal, and even plastic. She took a standard metal staff off the wall and felt the weight, then handed it to Shiro, "You're already strong so a metal one would be easy for you. You can get one that's heavy all the way through it like that one, or you could get one that's move heavy on one end or both ends like mine." Suijin pulled another staff off the wall, it was a few inches longer than the other one, but had more weight on the ends. "I think as long as they are solid and not flexible, they won't be easily broken."

Aki's words only partially reached Nezrain, the sound of the sea filling her ears. She was glad for the break from the usual boredom of running laps around Garden, or just distance running around Balamb itself, by herself. Taking a break to just float, she stared at the sky, ever alert. Absently, her hand brushed the nylon sheaths of a few stainless steel blades on her left leg, stitched into the inside of her cargo pockets. Taking an easy breath, she dove under the surface and kicked into the deep cerulean, before stilling her motion, still submerged.

After a few minutes, Aki looks over at Nezrain only to see her floating motionless under the water. She calls out her name, though she knew it wouldn't be heard, and takes a breath before diving under the water. She grabs Nezrain's shoulder, checking to see if she was conscious.

Reflexively, Nezrain twisted and pulled down, snapping her eyes open, before wincing, and kicking to the surface, still holding onto Aki's wrist. Taking a breath of fresh air, the first words out of her mouth were a sputtered apology.
"I'm so sorry! It's reflex, I swear!" Her words ran together almost comically, as she spat out water from the hair plastered across her face. "Are you okay?"

Aki jumps as Nezrain suddenly springs to life and grabs her wrist. She kicks up to the surface with her and takes a breath, letting out a little giggle.
"I'm fine! What were you doing? I thought you were hurt or something," Aki replies, smiling at her friend.

Once assured that Aki was okay, Nezrain exhaled and took a moment to dunk her head under the water and flip her hair back up and out of her face. Rubbing a hand across her eyes to clear them of salt water, she shook her head and took a breath, letting out one short laugh of relief.
"I was just collecting my thoughts, listening to the current, you know? Sometimes being in a certain environment helps bring back memories associated with it." Her tone was light, but there was weight behind the words, some deeper process going on.
