Maximos
That topic again. Maximos immediately snapped back in an uncharacteristic display of agitation.

Its dead Lazenca. Nothing but ruins left of a man who tried to break the system, and had to be dealt with.

Lazenca opened his mouth to speak.

Maximos
To which he added.

Killed. Maybe you can take the cold but the refugee's cannot.

...And then closed it.

Maximos
But that anger wasnt for Mr. Miranda, and because of that he lifted his hand up to adjust his glasses on his face and said...

I'm sorry. That was quite rude.

"Mm....hmm."

The vocalization ended with an uplift, not unlike a question. But those 'words' combined with the way he said it could mean a bunch of different things.

(1) You're right, I need to be more in the team and actually worry about if they could survive the cold, but I won't openly acknowledge it. Probably has something to do with saving face and pride.

(2) Looks like there was more to this than even I knew. (I thought the Garden was all? Vahn and Sun are still alive, so who...)

(3) Yes, you were rude. I accept your apology though, because I guess I understand enough that the place is really bad news.

(4) Whatever.

And they were all correct.

"I'm with you, Sun unless there's a reason I'm needed elsewhere," he said while indicating him with his thumb. "Twitch, check your planes," he said while indicating the door with his other thumb.

So that's how it is, huh?

Ichigo had listened to the entire plan laid out by Sunstrike. Over the course of which, he recalled the name "Alpha" being noted. Ichigo could have sworn he heard that name back at the stadium, shouted aloud in anger. From what people were saying, they were probably referring to the shadelord that Vahn, Athan and Maximos had fought. Ichigo remembered feeling Alpha's presence as he sensed for spiritual presence back then, but instead...

...he found nothing.

And not the good kind of nothing, either.

Still, shades weren't the only thing to worry about in this situation. Ichigo remembered seeing that undead fighter, Malice, who Rage and Lazenca had fought against. Ichigo had his own fight with that demon Malachi. Ichigo still couldn't get the thought of that monster off of his mind. His mannerisms and habits of eating souls made him too similar to a Hollow in Ichigo's eyes.

But for now, all that was left was to choose who to go with.

He looked first to Sunstrike, Maximos, and Damion. He hadn't really met the latter yet, but he saw enough of the former two to know they were well in the know. Sunstrike was the one who gave them all this information in the first place, and with the way Maximos took charge earlier, he probably had a good idea of things as well. Not to mention he had faced the shadelord, and thus was probably headed for deeper areas...areas that'd no doubt lead Ichigo back to Malachi.

But Ichigo couldn't focus on a single enemy alone just because of his previous tussle. There were still others to consider.

Katie, Madison, and Asherah seemed to have a solid group as it stood, so there was no need to interject himself unless they wanted Ichigo along. But then there was Rage...

...Rage? Come to think of it, where did that guy go?

All Ichigo remembered was Maximos tossing water in his face. Huh. Wonder what that's all about...

That was when Sakura came down, once again puzzling the orange-haired teenager. Having not seen the transformation, Ichigo was completely oblivious to the whole "Sakura = Rage" thing. Even so, she was armed, so she was no doubt a skilled fighter. For all Ichigo knew, she was Rage's sister.

Yeah...that's the ticket.

Lazenca wanted in with Sakura's ride as well. Seeing that counted as five, if Ichigo went along that'd make it six. Rather than considering it one big group, Ichigo saw it more as two groups taking the same mode of transportation.

"I'm sticking with you guys," said Ichigo, stepping towards the group aiming to travel by dragonback. "If we really need groups of three at some point, we can always split in half."

He'd stick with his decision unless Sunstrike and Maximos wanted Ichigo to stick with them instead.

Cecil Hawthorne

PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:53 pm

Around this time, a young man, a blonde man, a handsome man would be approaching the Firebrand Tavern. But for what reason?

Heck if he knew!

Cecil Hawthorne, travelling mage, was one of those who suffered from wanderlust, who couldn't settle if his life depended on it (and yes, it has at one point, but that's a story for another time). There was always more to see, more to do, more to learn, more to experience. Just when you couldn't think the world could get any more amazing, it always seemed to do so tenfold to those with an open mind and an open heart.

Being an adventurer by trade, he had shared his fair amount of travel over the past several years. The last bunch he adventurered with had parted on relatively good terms, but not until after following through on the advice of a fortune teller. What was Cecil's future, as according to that mystic Mystic?

To be here, and to be here now. It was the same beachside tavern that he had been described; he knew this was the place. It...

...

"Ummm, excuse me? I think there's a dragon eating someone's helicopter out here..." Cecil spoke up from the doorway to the rather dangerous looking lot that awaited within. He kept his distance though, for he was one of meek temper.

Well... WHATEVER was going on, it was like walking into a funeral with how somber everyone looked. Which could be seen as either a good sign, OR a bad sign, that Cecil was in the right place.

"I think we're good. Unless you guys need to grab some food or something." Madison didn't really eat, so it wasn't her major concern to get fed. But the others might. However, once the strange creature sat on her ear Madison looked up in confusion, what the crap was that?!

"Well...Hello you." She smiled slightly, not entirely sure what to say. She moved to the door and quickly noticed that she probably had to check in with Reiyvian before she left. It seemed like a good idea considering that she hadn't seen her for a while. Madison had quickly reached up and removed the strange snake off her ear and set it down on the ground.

"One second guys, I gotta do something first. You guys get some food and nourishment before going." She smiled softly at her two companions and than headed back towards the table, not towards the major group but more like to where the small girl was.

"I figured I might as well say hello before I headed out..." Madison gave a slight bow and she soon noticed the two similar woman standing with her. That was very confusing indeed, it didn't help her at all. Way too much was happening as of late, and it was really starting to confuse the rabbit.

"Oy, Asherah. Madison. You two coming with us or what?"

Apparently Sakura had decided to involve Katie in her group, regardless of if she liked it or not - and she seemed to be doing the same to the other two women. Not exactly waiting for a response, she followed up with "hurry up already so we can go!"

Asherah could heal and scream real loud. Katie was... huge. Madison... could... uh....

Okay, so maybe working with a group of people she barely knew and rushing into untold danger wasn't the greatest idea one had ever had. But at least they didn't hate her.

Yet.

"Let's get going already!"

"You'll have to excuse me," D' started, "but I'm pretty new at this... saving the world thing. If you'd kindly direct me to a team I could be most useful with, I'd really appreciate it."

She happened to be looking at, and standing next to, Maximos when she asked that. "I'd go with the girls, but it looks like that group's getting big. I also have my own co--"

She was suddenly interrupted with shouts outside, and in her ear. Sounded like cursing in some horrible Konglish. She was out the door before Lazenca could even warn her, nearly bowling over Cecil, arms waving so she could look big to the dragon which could pluck her with its tail if it saw fit.

"Hey! That's not food! Could you not do that anymore?" She wasn't even looking at the dragon, and she'd passed Sakura on the way out. D' was also talking to the dragon as if she expected him to understand perfectly, and vice versa. However, her eyes weren't on it... she was pacing the copter to make sure the damage was inconsequential.

Cecil would observe a woman suddenly bolt out of the tavern past him, he barely avoiding getting body checked to the ground in the process. He would observe her trying to discourage the dragon. No one else panicked, so either this woman was a dragonslayer of epic status, or the dragon was friendly-ish.

Either way, it looked like she needed a boost.

With a few waves of his wand and some arcane chanting under his breath, he would cast a spell upon her, increasing her size and hopefully helping her get more notice from the beast. Hopefully, this would help and not hinder her.

Anuksu had nodded at Lucind's statement of wanting to work together, but as Maximos grabbed his collar, his attention instantly turned to other things. He reached up and grabbed Maximos's arm, not with force, but just enough to say "hey, no need for this"

"When are you going to realize that I'm willing to help you. We have the same enemy. I don't expect you to trust me, but at least count me as the ally to your cause that I am."

Though it was a bit of an annoyance, Anuksu was still flattered that his reputation carried so much weight with this man, surely his file had said more about his personality or something to that effect, for if it did, perhaps he should at least pretend to understand him a bit better. Coming to a stop by Maximos's side, Anuksu took the time to fix his clothing, for appearances even on the battlefield were rather important to him.

Obviously, he would be traveling with Maximos and his group, though he wondered who the others were going to be, and the very thought irked him just a bit. He was beginning to wonder if Lucind had indeed been wrong when stating that this was not a "school field trip" for he did not look forward to keeping an eye on these children, all the while having Maximos watch him like a hawk for fear of treachery.

Reiyvian

PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 8:38 pm

Reiyvian grinned and spread her hands wide as she stood in front of the two women and couldn't help but laugh.

"Perhaps then, there are some things best learned on their own. Although it saddens my heart to think that some injury or loss might have been prevented."

She bowed slightly from the waist towards Rae as she was introduced.

"An honor, Raven."

Her eyes flicked to a free chair at the table and she gestured towards it.

"May I join you ladies?"

It was then that Madison made her way over and Reiyvian turned to greet her in return, bowing also but not quite as deeply. She flashed the young woman a smile and nodded.

"Ah, very good actually! I have something for you my dear, a few things actually!"

She shed her cloak, revealing the snow white wings, furled against her back and draped it over the back of her chair. She was carrying a few large packs and she reached into one and rummaged a moment before producing a satchel for her young charge.

Handing the bag over, Madison would note that it went over one shoulder and met in a clasp in the front of the chest, the other half of the strap reaching up from the underside of the opposite arm to buckle in the front. The bag itself fit comfortably in the small of one's back and was quickly whisked around to the front to obtain something from within.

"There's a few things in there that should prove useful. One of which is a first aide kit for the field. If you find yourself in in a position of needing medical care and you don't have a healer or you're dealing with someone who cannot be healed either by magical means, or someone who would react badly to a white mage's touch-- that should help until you can get them somewhere with the right resources.

Anyway! The salves and ointments are labeled as to what they do and whether or not they're infused with magick or not.

Hopefully... you won't need it."

If the bunny opened the pack to inspect it's contents she would also find a small pocket guide to some of Gaia's edible and medicinal herbs, a detailed map they could use to make notations on and a compass. There was also matches, which seemed ridiculous given the number of fire users about, but hey... you never knew.

But what would be more eye catching, would be a small flat disk, framed in a tooled metal and a a hole for a smooth polished stone that was wrapped in a bit of cloth beside it. Actually, there were three polished stones.

"That is a communicator of sorts. The emerald stone will connect you directly to Shin, it's energy will last for roughly an hour before having to recharge for three days... yours is the only mirror with this particular stone.

The Ruby will connect you to GUARDIAN in case there's an emergency or if you discover something you think should be reported immediately. It's power lasts for two hours but takes four days to recharge.

The black stone will connect you to the other two identical mirrors. I'm not sure who to give them to though, they should be in different groups so that you all have a means of contacting one another if something serious arises. One is for Lazenca and whatever group he's in..."

She turned and smiled at Hono'o and Raven.

"If either of you are going to be in different group I would entrust the mirror to you.

They're not much really, their power doesn't last long and they take a while to recharge. But if used wisely they can be of valuable assistance I hope."

Hoverbike outside the front of the bar now, Quinn dismounted the bike. Before entering the bar, however, he stopped Katie and simply tossed a small device to her. If she had questions about it, she could follow him and ask, but it was quite obviously some kind of communication device. It would be simple enough to work, although it might take her some time to figure it out on her own without his help.

Whether or not she followed him, he opened the door to the bar and immediately crossed towards Maximos, boots pounding in military rhythm with each step. Stopping in front of the man, he hit his armored fist to his chest in salute, then stepping to the side to await the mans' orders, preferring to defer to the man at least temporarily since he didn't have a strong grasp of everything that was going on.

Madison sat and stared at all the gifts she was receiving, they were all very useful trinkets to carry with her. But the one that made her smile the most was the green stone. It almost seemed as though a tear formed in her eye when she saw it, she couldn't believe to see it.

"Thank you ever so much, m'lady. I will be sure to put them to good use." Madison quickly placed some of the items in the inside pockets of her red coat. But the one she kept the closest was the green stone, that one she made sure didn't go anywhere.

She quickly turned her head to see that Sakura was yelling at her from the door way, he really didn't actually need to yell as she could hear him rather fine from where she was. The perks of her ears.

"I'll be there in a second!" Madison turned back to Reiyvian, she almost wanted to cry, this young girl had made the entire journey worth it, as she had contact with her knight. She knew that she would have to use it sometime soon.

"Thank you for the gifts. Thank you very much."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 9:05 pm

Reiyvian reached up on tip-toe and hugged Madison close before releasing her and smiling proudly. The bunny had come a long way, and while she still had a long way to go, the healer was proud of both her progress and her determination. She was strong of heart and while she was a gentile soul, she was not to be overlooked or underestimated.

Within Madison, was the potential for a great passion. Passion for life and for love, and there was strength in that potential. The young rabbit had survived an unpleasant existence and found a hint of happiness. Happiness that would be hers to discover and she had no doubt, that she would defend that.

"You're welcome Madison. Oh, before I forget, one last thing--"

She produced a throng of black leather with a silver medallion hanging from it's center. It was a choker, and the silver pieces was inscribed with a Sakura blossom, a sword, point down behind it and four feathered wings extended from the hilt. The insignia of GUARDIAN.

"Normally we would have an induction ceremony, but given the circumstances I do promise a party when all this is done. "

She grinned and held the choker out to her, to tie around her neck.

"Now go dearheart and let the winds guide your feet and the light guide your heart."

Now Madison was speechless, she never expected to see her getting her initiation, not yet. She wasn't up to par with the other members of GUARDIAN, but she was getting there.

"I...I...Don't know what to say." Madison ran her fingers along the silver insignia and she rushed to put it back on her neck. Her hands was shaky, she was so excited. It wasn't very often that Madison received gifts, but when she did she got excited.

"Thank you so much...And same to you." At That she gave Reiyvian another hug before darting off back towards the door and the rest of the group. She was like a blur, at last there appeared to be a use for the rabbit. Surprise, surprise.

She was now beside Sakura and she grinned.

She was ready to go now.

"Okay, let's go."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 9:41 pm

Katie had been too busy gawking at the dragon when Sakura nearly bumped into her. She was taking in that she would be flying once again. A glance towards Madison and she frowned. Twice in one day she'd be up in the air. This would be a record for her.

She had just moved next to the dragon when Quinn stopped her. She caught the device and looked at it strangely before she realized what it was.

"Oh, what do I press to contact you?"

She hoped she wouldn't need to use it, but if they got into a bind this would be a smart plan on his part. The two separate groups, whatever group he goes with, would have easy contact with one another.

In ways she wouldn't have minded having Quinn in her group, but she understood that the group was already large, and it would probably be best to put him in another group to aid others. It was wise to split up the fighters.

Looking at Sakura once again, she furrowed her brow.

"I just...who are you?"

She thought Rage was the one that offered a ride on his dragon. She was slightly perplexed at this point.

User ImageQuinn was in the tavern, but he heard her question. As he awaited orders, he lifted a similar device to his mouth and pressed the button on the left side of the small communicator. Quietly, he spoke into it:

"Katie, this is Quinn. Press the button on the right side to answer and reply if I contact you. Press the button on the left side to start a communication. I'd like you to test it by replying first and then sending me a communication, over."

Quinn took the device away from his lips, taking his thumb off the button to end his line.
