Maximos
This was his the form of his intent. The shape of his resolve. The tool by which it was carried out.

Ragnarok split the divide. Crashing into the ground between light and dark and dashing the moon and sunlight returning the mind scape to gray. The armies drove inward. It stood beside Ryugi. It overflowed in a beautiful golden glow, its aura raging like flame. I pulsed and begged, calling for a hand to grasp it.

When there is no light, when there is no darkness...

...When all that remains is you...

...Against good, against evil...

...will you stand and fight?
Thunder crackled, lightning split the sky, and a wind began to howl across the divide as the two sides charged, closing in on Ryugi and Ragnarok. The weapon glowed with a golden aura of energy, determination and power. This was his weapon, this was his partner, this was his tool with which he forged his future and his destiny!

He moved quickly, his hand swooping down and grasping the weapon's handle, the golden energy washing over him like a tidal wave, surging across his form, up his arm, giving him the strength and power he would need to cut his path to salvation and victory! He gripped the handle of the mighty greatsword and pointed it towards the sky. The ground around him quivered and shook from the might that he wielded now, the golden light of Ragnarok pierced up into the sky, blasting away the clouds of doubt that churned the heavens above. He could do this, he WOULD do this, and NOTHING and NO ONE would stand in his way!

I will stand! I will fight! I will win!

Or I will die trying!!

His voice resounded across the plains, the heavens seemed to tremble at his words, and the power that he wielded here, in his resolve was more mighty than any foe that could cross him. In a flash, Ragnarok swung down, piercing the earth as golden yellow sparks and arcs of power raced across and down its shining length and across the ground. The very battlefield itself glowed with the golden glow of Ryugi's resolve and his will to keep fighting as a titanic golden rune of energy shone across the ground, spiraling into a complex series of symbols and lines, all a precursor to the massive statement to come. Here, words and feelings truly held power, not energy itself. And the force of Ryugi's next statement would be both seen, and heard.

I am Ryugi Kazamaru, The Hero!!

Now!!

User Image

EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF UNBREAKABLE RESOLVE!!

With a bone shattering blast, golden-white energy erupted from the ground around Ryugi, pieces of the earth rising into the air as the power and energy of Ryugi's statement erupted into the heavens above, tearing away any shred of doubt that he would stand and fight with every last ounce of his strength to protect the ones he loved, to be who he was no matter what happened to him, and to always remember who he was and never loose sight of it. He would fight with every last shred of his being just as he was now, and always remember what this felt like, to fight to protect...

To be a Hero.

Ryugi's voice was heard, it was felt. His power fed rage to the soldier surrounding him and they burst forward with a sort of fervor unseen in the real world. Dragons of colossal scales and powers all converged on one single being.

The rune etched its way across the ground, and the troops marched regardless. This was it! Do or die!

A final command was given, to experience the power of Ryugi's new found unbreakable resolve. And as his voice echoed amongst the crackling energies and thunder of charging footsteps, reality seemed to warble. His voice expanded outwards like a shockwave.

Then came silence. Absolute silence.

No footsteps, no mash of metals, no screams. There was nothing, but the deep breaths of a golden dragon, and the world moving silently in slow motion. Each dragon crawling forward at a snails pace and them...

Explosion.

The ground shattered and quaked and energy exploded upwards overtaking everything in white. Soon the sky was gone, and the ground fell out from beneath Ryugi and he was left floating.

Floating in nothing but white, his muscles aching, his sword pulsing beside him.

Remember this...

...remember the strength to cut your own path...

...remember when the lines between good and evil are blurred...

...remember when the world turns gray...

...remember when all you have is yourself...

....you have the greatest weapon any being can wield...

...remember your light....

...Ryugi Kazamaru...

...The Hero...

...The Golden Light...

As the voice spoke, Ryugi fell. Not harshly, but gently, drifting through the white like a leaf on the wind. And as it finished, he landed. His eyes opening to the bright white of a sunbeam glaring in his eyes, and Maximos beside him with a bright smile on his face.

Ryugi grinned and shook himself out of his daze, remembering his powerful resolve before he spoke directly to his shadowy friend.

Heh, I just remembered why I don't meditate much. It's too crowded in there and its always a mind trip.

And then laughter.

"Look at you-- all fallin' apart already! Lame-lame-lame!!"

That remark was duly noted as Argon’s condescending escort, looking as though he was assembled from an assortment of scraps found in a junk heap, arrived on scene via dimensional rift. He didn’t even react when Ezra took it upon himself to lean on his only remaining shoulder.

Argon would have been surprised at his -savior's- presence, but who would honestly trust the Death Knight to accomplish even the most trivial of tasks without supervision? He didn’t exactly possess the greatest track record when it came to success.

"You know-- you ain't exactly normal anymore.”

No one could exactly pin him for being normal to begin with.

A man born without any mana in his blood developing incredibly potent magic abilities… and eventually a deadly vulnerability to his own power.

The Dragoon developing an intense hatred for his closest friend after the death of his pact partner, also a dragon.

From the Dragon Knight Moonblade, to vampiric ghoul, to the Death Knight Argon.

The man had literally risen from the dead-- twice.

He had always been a freak, but this hardly compared with his corruption and subsequent rebirth with the Forgotten; he had no vital organs, no soul. He was granted to dark powers he had thirsted for. He couldn’t even be slain by natural means, nor could he be exorcised like some lower undead. His body was strong, resilient. Best of all, his abilities could expand over time. Argon was hardly comparable to a ghoul anymore… much less a human being.

He was a creature like no other.

Argon’s weakness, his shortcomings… were merely psychological. A figment of his imagination, if you will. His lack of control could be explained simply by his ignorance and lack of experience. He was far better off abandoning his old mindset; a mortal’s rationale would be nothing but destructive to the Death Knight.

"So stop wastin' time!"

The Death Knight merely watched as several sigils on his body lit up and his dismembered bits started to fuse back together.

“…”

The primary invasion force was already on the move. Argon was ready to mop up this spill and move on with his plans. Ezra had effectively put the Undead Shade back together. There was no need to waste any more energy on petty drama.

Argon was a monstrosity; it was high time he acted like it.

Indeed, that was severely...

What was that word? A friend of his used to use it all the time. Big Fellow.

Trippy. Yes, very trippy.

He looked forward at the monks still deep in there nirvana with flows of energy blowing on winds none could see, with colors that defied words.

But...deep. Very deep. Do you think they experience that all the time? How do you think they keep from going mad?
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 12:28 am

Trippy and deep are both good words I suppose.

Ryugi grinned and looked over to the Altin Monks as they continued to meditate in unison, searching their minds and the world around them for answers to life's many questions.

Perhaps they do, perhaps they don't. But perhaps their meditation is to become more true to oneself, and look for all of life's great answers. But before one can do that, they must truly understand themselves.

Maximos slowly nodded. They were profound words, and true but still. The idea of spending ones life trying to understand ones self and in turn the universe was....intense.

If you live a life trying to understand life, do you ever really live?

There was too much he didnt get, but what he did get was intense. He shook his head smirking, and said.

I could never be a monk. But they really are impressive...

He paused, looking left and right and then whispering.

...do you think they can hear us?
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 3:35 pm

On some level I think they're aware of us. But I doubt they can really hear us right now.

Ryugi shrugged and continued to watch the monks.

As for the living thing, when you live as long as they do, its possible to have a life and seek its answers all at once.

Ryudo stopped in his tracks as Ezra made his appearance. Instead of advancing, he continued to gather more energy to fight off whatever the newly fixed Death Knight decided to throw at him. However, he knew his time remaining was short...

He could only hope that Angara's Army outpost to the north would pick up on the powerful energy activity.

If not...

Ryudo pushed his doubts to the back of his head. He knew the odds. He knew he couldn't single-handedly destroy both the Death Knight and his new friend. He'd nearly finished the dark warrior, but he'd been revived. With most of his strength gone, his stamina beginning to wane, and without his full power, Ryudo would have to change his battle tactics...

Hopefully they'd prove him useful...

With that Argon grasped the shaft of Ruination, standing to meet the one who opposed him. Now that his body had been fully restored, The Death Knight had absolutely no problem wielding the void-spear. Without wasting a moment, he advanced in on his opponent. There was, afterall, a sizable gap to fill.

Ryudo had a good amount of energy charged up, but that didn't deter Argon. Sure, the Shadow Dragon was strong, but Argon could handle anything that was thrown at him.

He just had to keep his head in the game.

"Go on now--- get the ******** outta here!" User Image Ezra smiled wide, giving that half glasgow smile of his a good stretch as he went all wide eyed, watching as the fight started up again.

"A leader should be leadin'!" He stretched out both arms now, the paled flesh standing out harshly in the bright sunlight (which became ever more so eclipsed by the invading overhead forces. "And a dog should be fightin' fer' scraps!"

What he said probably didn't make much sense, but then again--- pointing that out to him was senseless.

He simply kept laughing aloud. "The irony! The irony!!"

As two Shade Dragons suddenly swooped in and landed on either side of Ezra-- the cloak that had been wrapped around his body was blown off; revealing the devil in all his inhuman glory.

Sickening, sentient armor covered every last pore of Ezra's flesh. The shade plating chattered incandescently like the coruscating shell of a hellish crab. Every movement he made was accompanied by the unearthly grinding of shell and stone. "It's a dog eat dog world after all."

And that wicked smile.

In a flash Ryudo shot into action. From the shadows near Ryudo's feet a great whiplash of black would swirl up, spin around his form like a whirlwind of black, and then surge out towards the incoming Death Knight as Ryudo braced himself. His black coat whipped out behind him from the force of the energy ripping its way ahead.

As the surge of black energy moved towards the Death Knight, it quickly spread out, forming dozens of spikes that seemed to grasp out to wrap around the dark warrior and crush him in their prickly grip.

Ryudo continued to gather energy for himself as he kept himself wise to any other goings-on on the field. He'd seen what the Death Knight could do, and he wasn't going to play nice...

Argon smirked; he clearly found something about this situation amusing.

"Good point."

The Death Knight halted his advance, lashing his left arm out to the side. With that simple motion, he released a small circular wave of purple chaos energy.

The Chaotic Ripple would work in a fashion similar to anti-magic, dissolving and effectively nullifying whatever energy it happened to collide with. The wave didn't extend much past five feet; why waste more energy than necissary? Certainly the chaotic energies would have no problem making short work of the spikes, seeing as they were heading towards him anyways.

In a simultaneous fashion, an incredibly potent incinerary beam would come crashing down towards the Shadow Dragon, threatening to reduce him to ash. It seemed that Argon's dark partner decided to retaliate as it made its way to its master.

Ryudo wasn't forgetting about the Tainted Dragon, was he? Obviously the Death Knight would do little leading without his mount.

"Let's go, Lazarus."

Ezra was right; he had more important things he should be doing. His job, for example.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 1:30 am

That was funny. Death Knight had just blasted himself a hole in a tidal wave, so to speak. All it did was open an area where the energy missed him. As the wave dissipated, the remaining shadowy energy would converge on his form, ready to impale him on dozens of spikes. That attack might ring a bell deep in the Death Knight's mind... And he wasn't going ethereal this time to save himself...

Of course, Ryudo was almost certain that attack would fail, just like his first attempt, but it would serve a secondary purpose. It would buy Ryudo enough time to avoid the beam from the mount. After all, something that big, and that powerful, didn't just poof, did it? Of course not. Ryudo's form would blur as he zipped back and away from the beam where it impacted on the ground where he'd been not seconds before.

Two against one, eh? Hardly fair...

Perhaps assistance is in order...

A grin crossed Ryudo's features as he landed. He could balance the odds easily...

Maximos nodded, and slowly. Deeply. He understood, yet at the same time he had no basis for understanding. He got what Ryugi was saying at its face value. And it made sense there, but as Maximos revealed when he stood up and smacked the dust from his clothes...

....but I dont think I'll ever understand eternal life.

Still, he smiled deeply. He found himself, perhaps due to said mediation, more focused. With a bright smile, he would turn after standing and say.

I wonder if an these dragons knows about Ancalagon! Or did you have someone else in mind?

He said, making his way back to the bed holding all of his supplies.
