"I'm fine..." he repeated, a pout prominent on his lips. For all the aches and pains, he would much prefure this than some drugged sleep or... medication or something. As he insisted there was nothing wrong, his gaze seemed to clear slightly. It wasn't what one would call "normal," but it was at the very least an improvement. Hiding his pain and sickness was something that he was used to - and something that, oddly enough, seemed to bring him from his stupor.

"You say you're fine, but I don't see you being able to even sit up properply, much less stand on your own. How am I to believe you?" Haar asked, not really expecting an answer. For one, he hadn't slowed down the speech and he doubted the teen could understand him in the state he was in now. Secondly, Alti was also as stubborn as they came (or at least he appeared to be so) so the commander figured he would stick to his story of being peachy.

Shifting outside of his circle of heat, Haar stood up with a heavy sigh. Alti wasn't too far from him, it didn't take but a few moment before he had the teen's chin tilted upwards, a frown still very much present on his own features. "Don't lie to me, not again," he murmured in a gentle tone, crouched down in front of the bleary-eyed teen. It wasn't exactly an order, but the young soldier fully expected the younger of the two to listen.

[[No shout box again? ;_; What is going on? T__T]]

Alti frowned. He had caught... well, he understoon most of what Haar had said and that was, at the very least, a start. But it still wasn't completely fitting together.... "I..." His cheeks reddened slightly as his dazed and muddled mind tried to come up with a reason for the other to believe fully that Alti was perfectly fine. "Heat makes me tired," he lied, raising his head a fraction of an inch to meet the other's gaze.

When, however, the other took his chin it made it much easier to look the other in the eye -- only he found that, now the action was quite possible, meeting the other's gaze wasn't all that appealing. "I..." he mumbled, biting his lip softly in agitation.

[[Okay, I swear if the shout box doesn't work this time I'll be sad. XD]]

"You need to get rid of this nasty habit-- lying to me, that is," Haar said, his frown softening as his grip loosened. "I tend not to trust others if they lie to me, and I don't think you want that." He hadn't meant to have that sound like a threat, but realizing it could've been taken as such, the young man attempted to smile, brushing dark hair (which looked much longer when wet) from the teen's bright, still very hazy, eyes.

Dropping his hand to the pool's edge, the fire native peered at Alti with an odd, rather uncharacteristic, expression. "Besides, you're a horrible liar. I think you should leave all the talking to me. In your condition, no matter how infatuated your mother is with the idea, I don't even think she'd believe you." Haar had, of course, assumed Alti had been listening intently to him earlier when he explained his series of exagerated stories he'd told Allora.

Edit: T^T;;

Alti frowned and glanced over to the side, almost as if he were trying to find some way to escape, before his gaze flickered back up towards the other. THat was, at the very least, a small improvement on his condition: he was finally fully focused on the other.

"I... fine," he mumbled under his breath. The mention of his mother was... confusing, to say the least, but he brushed it off as Haar's uncharicteristic show of talkativeness. He had, earlier, thought the other a much more stoic figure, but he had turned out to be rather chatty (although not nearly so much as his own mother).

Haar looked almost agitated at the teen's response. After all that, he was still lying to him? Shooting the kid a heated glare, the young man stood up with a slight waver, fingers instantly pressed up against his side. All this getting up and down wasn't working wonders on his new set of wounds. Muttering something that distinctly sounded like, 'ouch,' as he made his slow way back towards his seal, rubbing it out with a tired effort.

"Fine. I guess I'll be seeing you," he murmured, glancing back for a moment before he pulled himself out of the steaming pool. Wringing out of the ends of the sopping towel, Haar swiped a finger across the cut he'd found earlier. He wondered how in heck he'd gotten gashed there.

[[I think he's just going to leave Alti there to wrinkle up like some sort of adorable prune. *3* He's not very considerate when miffed. n_n;]]

((x3 I see that.... Ohyah... I've been working on setting up colors for my chars (to make things at least slightly less confusing). So, let's see if I can keep it up! xD;;;

By the way, if Wei is inspiring you, there's a post for him. =3 ))

Alti frowned. He hadn't been lying... Haar had just... just asked him to stop lying... right? So he had agreed, and.... Head spinning, he watched as the other got up and walked off. Now utterly bewildered, he called out (if one could call it that - his voice wasn't exactly strong... more like feeble), "Hey... wha... what's... wrong?"

Was it a problem that he had agreed? Or was... was Haar just weird? Yes, that had to be the case.

[[I need to stop reading posts so fast. *3*;; I didn't realize Alti just agreed with him. I thought it said 'I'm fine.' IsucksobadandIdon'tknowhowI'mgoingtorectifythis. XD I think this will be my last post for the night, I really need to work on a paper. =w=;;]]

Alti's voice wasn't exactly loud, but the echoing factor of the room allowed him to be heard. Glancing backwards, Haar frowned gently, "The water's sort of getting to me. Besides, you still haven't told me the truth," he explained, placing hands on his hips in an effort to keep his towel up.

((xD;;; Ah. Don't worry, I've done stuff like that before...

Also, I'm off to go cook dinner in a couple minutes....))

Alti frowned, for a moment set on being stubborn before he finally just gave in. He sighed and slumped down further into the water, his eyes fixed on the stone of the ground Haar was standing on rather than on the man himself.

"I... my head hurts..." he mumbled slowly. "And I'm dizzy. It's better than before, though...." He looked quite dejected at actually having to admit that something was wrong with him.

[[Last post, I swear. XD]]

Haar's expression softened slightly, red eyes scanning across the water until they stopped on the pale frame of the teen. He knew he had been stubborn himself, but he wasn't actually going to leave the teen there to get even more soggy than he already was.

Walking over towards the flat bed of rocks near Alti, Haar glanced around a quick moment before sitting down. He had been telling the truth about the water bit earlier. No matter how hot he had it, it still didn't feel quite right to him. He wasn't sure if all people of the fire nation were like that, but he supposed it was plausible. "That wasn't very hard now was it? If you don't say anything then nothing's ever going to get fixed," he murmured, running a hand through the teen's hair, rubbing the outside of his thumbs against the teen's temples lightly. Muttering a sort spell under his breath, the young man willed a gentle sort of heat against Alti's forehead. The spell was similar to his mock fire techniques, but not quite so potent. "Tell me if this makes anything worse."

The feeling of warm hands - warm hands, not like the consistently cool touch of his mother's soft fingers - seemed to comfort the teen at least slightly. He nodded slowly to show he had understood both Haar's mini-moralising as well as the instruction given to him.

Well... nothing seemed to be getting worse. In fact, it felt... nice. Usually people didn't come near him, let alone close enough to actually touch him. It was either out of a certain amount of respect (or revear or fear of) for royalty or the rumors that insisted Alti was "filthy" and a "blood traitor." Usually people didn't... talk to him or... care, really. Except for his mother, who's overprotectiveness was so entirely overbearing that it caused Alti to only shun the concern he was given.

The twenty-year old's fingers slipped upwards as Alti's nodded, brushing against fairly damp bangs before Haar pressed his hands back into place. He hadn't done anything like this in a while. He used to all the time when Ceris or Peyton fell under the weather, but lately he just had not seemed to have the solitude he needed to do such a thing.

After a few minutes of running fingertips all along the teen's temples and through his hair, the older of the two pressed curled fingers against Alti's neck, hoping that this light massage wouldn't hurt the other in any way. That was the last thing Haar wanted to do. Not only would he feel a bit of remorse for hurting Alti, but he sure as hell knew he wouldn't want to face Allora if he did indeed hurt the teen.

Leaning forward, Haar murmured against the boy's ear as his hands dropped to slim shoulders, "Is this okay?"

[[I still can't believe sometimes that Haar is 20. xwx; Also, sorry for not getting back to this sooner. I've been so busy. ;_;]]

Ceris's expression shifted from a relatively happy one to one...not quite so joyful. "Why, Xel, did I run off to the gardens again? Could you remind me?" He asked, peering over at the solider, who had a forkful of some sort of mashed squash midway towards his mouth.

The knight straightened up as he felt both pairs of eyes upon him, lowering his fork as he held a steady gaze on the mage. "Because you blew up at me for... giving Haar a paper cut. You know you shouldn't baby him all the time, he's twenty for god's sake," he muttered with a soft frown. He knew Ceris had been absent-minded as to why he had been in the garden in the first place because of the fire caused by the ever careful Ruehl. Xel's inner voice was quite fond of sarcasm.

Clenching his fist around one of the many forks formally placed around his plat, the short haired man glared hard at Xel. "I do not baby him. I just...I just didn't want any trouble for at least a few weeks until we could send your papers! That's all I asked! And the first thing you do is attack our commander. He's not the rank as you anymore, Xel... and I- I don't want to lose you again, okay?" The young man's voice became increasingly softer, to the point that he was sure the last bit could only have been heard by the brown-eyed knight.
[[I saw Prop's post. Cameron is just being a butt and not inspiring me. I'll try to get to it.]]

Ruehl was surprised that Xel was the one being questioned rather than himself. In fact, the young royal's heart almost went out to the scruffy-looking soldier who seemed to now be on the receiving end of Ceris's personal version of fury. Almost. Any trace of the understanding he'd hoped for had been effectively erased with Xel's recollection of the incident in the garden.

He took an enormous gulp of water before interjecting in a voice of controlled emotion, "What part of slicing his fingers up would you suggest constitutes 'a mere paper cut', Xel? I don't understand your reasoning for even interrupting us in the first place."

[[I called you today but no one answered. D: I couldn't do anything today anyway because yesterday I didn't have time to do my reserach paper due to paiting a mural at some orphanage. I just noticed how many badbadbad typos were in that last post sorry! X3]]

Xel resorted to stuffing his mouth at the last moment to gain a few more moments in order to mull over just why he had sliced the young man up. He didn't really think he had a reaon. He was just falling back into place- to what they had always done. Who could be the last one to get the upper hand before supper? That's how it had always been. Winner gets a cookie (to give to Peyton), or a new dagger, or possibly (In Xel's case) a kiss from a certain mage.

That's how it had always been.

Swallowing thickly Xel set dowm his fork once with a soft frown, "I don't really know why I have to explain such a trivial thing to either of you, but if must know~ I wanted the strawberry pie Jup made," he murmured, not explaining anything further.

----

Cain carefully pulled the now unconscious Peyton from the carriage, holding him gently as he attempted to run up the steps to the fire nation's capital castle.

"Calix! Hey, Cal-"

The knight stopped short as a girl around the age of fifteen or sixteen ran up to him, looking confused. "Who's the brat?"

Brown eyes narrowed slightly. "I...think you have me mixed up with someone else," he explained, holding Peyton closer in an almost protective stance. The girl shook her head,

"No way, you're..." She stopped, noting the expression on the knight's face. "S-sorry, must've had you confused." With that she ran off, back to somewhere in town as Cain continued to travel up the steps with a disturbed look.

[[Dun dun duuuuun~]]

((It's ookie. I haven't been active much, either. xD;;; I been so busy lately what with skating and getting my new skates and battle of the bands and whatnot.

Also, starting next week I'm babysitting for the skateshop owners (they have a little three-month-old girl <3) on Wednesdays... But life drawing (Tues) ended, so I'll have them free instead... Until they start back up again. xD;;; (which means I'll be busy almost every day of the week)

So if I become even less active, this is why. xD;;;;;;; ))

He nodded again, slowly, his orange eyes opening a fraction of an inch for a moment before fluttering closed again. It really did feel... good. He leaned forward slightly against edging of the open-air bath - he was beginning to feel a bit drowsy again - but not enough to disrupt the movements of the other's hands.

"Nnn... sorry for... lying to you...." the boy mumbled slowly after a few moments' hesitation. He was rather surprised with himself for actually appologising for something that was now a part of his nature.
