How much do you guys spend on RL $ commissions & how often do you do so?

lili - i'm too poor to afford irl commissions and atm the only artist i'd really get one from is satougaki. :O~~~~ she's by far, one of my fave artists.
whee Oh I've heard of her! She's great! But I don't know how much her commissions cost....
gonk I'm also quite sure her art won't suit my avatar.
xd Tons of art I adore doesn't suit my avvie, so I just kinda look & don't buy.

Lately...way too much! @___@ I'm most comfortable commissioning in the $30 range. I've gotten a couple that were $50 though. It really depends on the art though and the medium. I'd much rather spend a little more on a tradional media piece where I can recieve the original. I try not to commission for cg's....but sometimes I just can't resist!

The more and more the R&C is over run with auctions, the more I retreat from Gaia commissioning and lean towards just spending the cash.
That's actually quite a good idea! I have no real interest in RL $ for CG art though. Traditional art ALL the way. Although I have to admit, I really don't know that many. I've only really commissioned Luciole RL $. She's currently working on one more too, but she hasn't even done a WIP yet.

My goodness! That's insane! But it's worth it though, isn't it? It's your own designed character from a story you're writing! Right?

Lili: Around $250 a month...every month. Sometimes a little more ^^; That doesn't actually mean I recieve the art I commission that month. I usually spend about $50 on a piece. Both my Bettina pieces were $25. Loish was $50. Both of Chael's were $50. NJ art was $50. And my Luciole piece was $35. Pep is $90. (still haven't recieved the last three pieces)
I'm rather poor on gaia so I can't afford the auction prices in the R&C. That and...gaia is filled with way too many big-eyed chibi/animeish artists (not that it's BAD) and that style doesn't really suit my characters. That and I feel less guilty about pointing out mistakes and the like when I'm giving someone real money versus virtual gold and pixel clothing.
Agreed, your character is very sexy & sensual. You hardly see that with the art that is available on Gaia, & you CAN discuss & complain more with artists with REAL MONEY commissions. Because they're pretty much binded by the commission to please you.
To be honest guys, the R&C has been extremely disappointing lately.
sweatdrop Not sure if it's "losing interest" or just unhappy with the turnout of art in there these days though. Do you guys agree with me?
Also, can anyone suggest some nice traditional artists for me? RL $ on Deviantart perhaps? I honestly know nothing!
gonk I've been running around the traditional anime area, but I see nothing spectacular that amazes me. Perhaps I'm searching in the wrong places?
