Xenon looked over at the other members of his team almost evalutorily. Well this sounded simple enough, but there was bound to be more to it than that. And here he'd thought he was...out of the woods, no pun intended. He addressed his fellow Genin "Well then... shall we go? I suggest Raine take the front guard as you'll probably be able to take any incoming threats with that Tekkenseisai stone skin of yours...correct?" He didn't quite know what awaited them in this forest, but he was sure that he was ready. Even if he wasn't, his teammates could fill in the gaps. Team 4 was more than the sum of it's part, it was indeed a well balanced team and with their combined skill Xen was confident he could get them through any obstacle... rather, they could get through any obstacle together.

"Momoe-san, you should..." he suddenly sweat looking exasperated.

"Come on guys! Let's go!" She was rushing toward the log, prepared to face the challenges alone.

"Momoe-san wait!" he rushed after her, and this was no small feat considering how fast he was. He ALMOST looked genuinely worried. Almost.

Raine nodded to dash happy that he got blue, it was his favorite color, but when he mentioned the part about getting their headbands taken away.... He couldn't fail no matter what. When he looked up though he was confident, this would be much easier than taking on the bandits in the forest. Much easier.

Xen spoke and Raine flicked his gaze up. "Yeah good plan. But keep an eye out for distant attacks. That got me once with an arrow. He held up his arm and showed the small round scar. Kimiko ran ahead of him though and the boy had to hurry. "Hey Kimiko I thought I was leading! And you better be careful on that log look below." he pointed at the deep crevasse shadows hiding the rocky bottom. It wasn't that big and wide but surely if you fell in you would be hurt. "Look I'll go first." Raine said his fist tightening, fighting a massive man from Taki was much easier than this.

Raine stepped forward, onto the log. His weight making the log groan with effort. Still he stepped forward the cool moss slipping beneath his shoes. He was there and than he wasn't. Slipping to the side Raine could only shoot his eyes open as he tried to react.

With a startled gasp as Raine Slipped, Kimiko's inner "heroine" Jumped into action. "Raine!" Her hand shot out with fairly impressive speed her rather impressive strength lifting his light weight rather easily. She pulled him upright, setting him straight on the tree "A-are you okay?" her eyes were wide.

Xenon sighed with relief, bringing up the rear, his expression slightly irritated. In truth if he were alone this wouldn't even be an obstacle for him. All told the gap was about twenty feet across, a distance he could cover with his Shunshin in a matter of moments, but still, he wasn't alone, and he wasn't about to take the chance of going ahead alone...besides, these two were his tools...er... teammates, he would rely on them vitaly during his career...not to mention the one directly infront of him was his favorite toy to boot. He'd stick with them...but if he started to fall so help him, he was using the Shunshin...

"Wow. Sorry guys." Raine felt horribly embarrassed, but he couldn't give up. He had to make it across. Come on idiot! the boy thought to himself. He had to do this. Taking another step, tentatively this time. Raine focused on balancing. He took deep breaths, trying to make sturdy steps and avoid the moss. He stared down intently, holding his arms out to his side. The small boy weaved and wobbled as he stepped, only making it a few feet before he decided to turn back and check on his team. They seemed to be doing just fine, Taking a step without looking Raine feel forward. "AH!" he felt the world spin upward around him as the position of his head changed.

Kimiko wasn't fast enough, she wasn't going to make it this time! She- Her eyes widened suddenly.

Xen gave a small smile "Do try to be more careful Raine..." he pulled the boy up, maintaining his own balance as he set the boy right again. He readjusted his glasses. "Don't you know chakra control? Just use that to stick your feet to the tree." he looked at Kimiko "You are still able to do that Yes Momoe-san?"

Kimiko pointed to herself "Huh? Of course. It'll be even easier cause were just walking sideways instead of up." Kimiko seemed pleased. She hadn't even thought of that.

Xen nodded, a rather annoying thought entering his mind. "You...CAN use chakra control to tree climb...can't you Raine-san?" he prayed for his own sanity that Raine was not just a master of Taijutsu and Completely useless with Chakra control...but no...he couldn't possibly be that unfortunate...could he?

Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique)
A high-speed movement technique. It is described as 'appearing with the wind and disappearing like the wind.' A very basic jutsu, it appears that most shinobi above Genin-rank know it. Using chakra to activate the body, the user is able to move from one point to another with extreme speeds. This super-fast movement is almost impossible to see with the naked eye. To a normal person, it would seem as if the user has teleported. The amount of Chakra used depends on the distance and elevation between the user and the destination.

Raine suddenly stopped, his hair jerking forward as he faced down into the blackness of the chasm for a split second. But suddenly he felt someone hands on him again and he was safely back on top of a wobbly, slippery log above a chasm. He held Xen to keep him steady, this was pathetic. The boy looked up to his older teammate nodding a "no" he couldn't imagine doing something like mastering chakra control on his feet yet. It just wasn't his thing. He could slice your vital arteries in the blink of and eye or crush your just in with an iron first, but he simply could not walk along the log. "Hey, wait! If you to can do the whole chakra feet thing than why don't you just stand in front of me and behind me, than hold me. That way I can stay balanced with you help!" He smiled broadly thinking this was the best idea ever.

Xen nodded, his own feet sticking to the log as his chakra flowed into them. "Very well. Momoe-san."

Kimiko smiled with a nod, grabbing Raine without pretense, ensuring he didn't fall as best she could, her own feet sticking her to the tree as well. "Okay! Hold on okay Raine?" She apparently didn't think there was anything wrong with grabbing a teammate unceremoniously. "I won't let you down." she was beaming at this moment of team work. This was so cool!

Xenon himself would have to walk backwards, but he wasn't worried. His chakra was such he walk along this makeshift bridge sideways and not fall, he wasn't concerned about himself. He took his younger teammate's shoulders, since Kimiko seemed to be handling his waist. He blinked. Wait a moment. He'd thought recently that Kimiko was shy around boys, was she just hiding it because of the situation? No, she wasn't cunning....hm...he'd look into that later. "Alright, now just take it one step at a time Raine-san."

Raine felt like he was being babied, but that didn't effect the fact that he sucked at balancing. He'd even cracking his head open by falling off a roof once. It was definitely something he needed a bit of practice with. Through his embarrassment he certainly felt proud to have teammates that would do something so stupid just to help him across a stupid log.

Gradually they moved across the tree making it a third of the way there. He smiled, hold Xen's arms still. "Guys it's working it's really working!" he beamed happily keeping his focus on his footwork while they went.

Above a grin sparked.

Raine felt confident with his teammates behind and in front of him. He couldn't help but let his mind wander around him. He'd have to keep his eyes out for his flags too. The thought of winning 500 ryo sounded awesome, but it didn't necessarily sound fair either. If he one, where Kimiko and Xen were basically sacrificing their own time to help him get across the bridge.... Suddenly he felt his sandal slip a bit, holding tight to Xens arms he clung and caught himself. Smiling "Wow that was clos-" his foot completely missed the log and Raine fell to the side, but he didn't get far before Xen caught him. He felt both their hands on him, pulling him up. "Ah! Xenon gave a grin that seemed say 'Well of course.' and continued to walk backward. He really wasn't opposed at all to helping the boy. He considered himself a proud person, proud of who he was was, and any true pride was not so cheap as to be tested by something like this. Besides, Xen...what was the word? He searched about his vocabulary. Found Raine entertaining, so helping him was no great trouble. It was the same reason he'd help his "rival" if she asked it. People who held his favor would receive his aide when it didn't impose to far upon him, that was just the way he worked.

Kimiko was looking ahead, her smile still wide. This really was a good team. She'd decided. Maboroshi may have been a jerk on occasion, but it was at times like this, when your back was to the wall, that she was starting to realize she could count on him. He claimed to be really selfish, and he may not even have realized it yet...but he could be selfless when he wanted to be. Wait...if he wanted to be, and his self does what it wants...then...does that mean even when hes being selfless he can still be selfish? Wow that was confusing...

Kimiko's chakra kept her rooted as Raine slipped, her hands keeping him from falling, Maboroshi's own quick reaction ensuring she wasn't too late. Together they kept them all from tumbling into the chasm Raine first. "Whoa..." Kimiko sweat slightly looking down. "Careful... that was a close one..."

Xenon pushed his glasses up in his ever present habit and set his hand back on Raine's shoulder. "It's alright... just keep at it. Don't worry." he smiled, his smirk showing through just a little "If it makes you feel better even if you fall I'll just use Shunshin to get us to the other side...on the one hand it would leave me drained of chakra..." he looked up thinking "Ah your a tough guy right? You can stand falling into a chasm or two."

Kimiko frowned at him "Maboroshi that's not funny!" Her rival snickered.

Devadas walked into the dojo, his lanky frame forcing him to bend his neck slightly to avoid hitting it against the lower door frame. As he looked around he noticed that there were many other people here, all of whom seemed to be training for something important. Devadas figured he should be training as well, since he didn't want to betray his beliefs. Training was good for the soul, and thus it would help him in this life, and the next one. Devadas' strength wasn't anything to sneeze at; in fact he was remarkably weak for someone at his level. Flexible as he was, it seemed like an obvious time to increase his physical abilities. Feeling a stroke of genius, he walked out to the forest and stretched a bit. Some things were worth training.

Devadas jumped and used a branch to swing himself higher like a monkey, as he flew through the air he made sure to take into account his surroundings; it would be pretty bad to hit a tree or something in mid swing. Devadas noticed a branch about half a meter in front of him, and he extended his left arm to get a hold of it. With any luck he would be able to propel himself further upwards. But that wasn't a good enough challenge for him; this was supposed to be training after all. There had to be something he could do to make it a bit harder. Devadas just had to figure out what that would be. It wasn't like he had to worry about anyone caring. He wasn't out to show off or anything, but unfortunatly that's how most people would probablly take it.

Again Devadas propelled himself upward and gracefully tucked himself into a ball and did a back flip in the air. As he carefully extended his limbs so as not to break anything on the surrounding trees, Devadas found himself falling head first towards the ground at an alarming rate. With very few options, he tried to swing himself around using his feet and a branch that was about six feet off the ground. It was a stretch considering Devadas' height, but there wasn't much of a choice in the matter. He tried to get some momentum going by doing another half-flip praying it would be enough to stop him from becoming a red stain on the ground. It wouldn't do Devadas much good to die so young when his soul had so much more to accomplish before it was reincarnated.

9+5 = 13 FAIL -1 HP fail, -1 5 ft fallen.

Devadas swung his body around, and found that the ground wanted to become intimate with his face. At least he had managed to slow his decent somewhat. As he checked to see if he had broken anything important, Devadas gave a silent prayer thanking his god that it hadn't been his time yet. After a minute or so it appeared that he hadn't in fact broken anything, and he wasn't even bleeding. The luck caused Devadas to say a second prayer quietly, since there was no such thing as praying too much. Stretching again Devadas took off running towards the nearest tree, and tried to kick off of it in order to propel him back towards the dojo. Jumping off of roofs was something a ninja had to do pretty often, and with all the trees around, the surrounding area became the perfect place to test his skills.
