hey out there sax players (such a lame line...) have any of you done any military like playing in a series way? I'm meant to be doing work experiance (a weeks period of work where you have a designated or placed job and do theyre daily activities as a taster of work) at the Colchester parashoot regement centre (english). starting today where i'm sleeping over. but i have a worries. When holding a saxophone (a baritone saxophone in this case) how can you adress someone. This because tomorrow im meant to be at buckingham palace at one of the queens gardens parties (no pressure right) and then playing a concert the next day somewhere i dont know with music ive never seen and thursday at a military style music school. I'd also like to know how any of you normally try to learn music really really fast without playing it. And what a military music school is like because iv'e never even heard of one let alone been to one even on a visit. yea sorry thats alot of text but with urgency would be apprciated if answered by anyone really... sweatdrop

even though there was no answer rolleyes today in the end went well 3nodding i didnt have to adress anyone though i did have to carry my bari around until my arm almost fell off and march which i ended up getting wrong because i wasnt used to it. i went the same arm with same leg not used to doing it without holding stuff. there were 8 royals at the party but none came to see us. the pieces were harder but mainly because they didnt have many bari sax pieces and gave me alto 2.... just so you know ^^ some was easy sight read some wasnt and am doing same thing somewhere else tomorrow ^^

Glad the gig went well sounds like one very prestigeous performance. it dosen' matter now because all is done, made a whole thing about how it went on the journel including pictures. but the proper miltary bands in england have alot more formality and gigs then i'd relised, didnt take it as a big deal. the concert the next day had more muscians playing then id seen before in school and out of school bands and these were all degree level musicans. There were band masters from other countries. it was quite astounding. there were 27 more work experiance students that day and two other major military bands. iv'e seen so many percussionits ever actually. but it was mainly because this was a military band school only one in Britain so everyopne who has to be in military band has to go through training there. i think me and my friend jazz who went are both thinking of getting more experiance at that facility. apart of their training is having 4 major concerts every week. using different piece every time as well eek . i got hold of the marching. the work exps got taught. again this a bit long...sorry.

this is my third year playing the alto sax and i am really mad because my band director is leaving to follow his major leauge baseball player scream !!!!!!!!! then this year we are getting some really mean italian guy that came to help us a couple of times!!! he does not let you have fun at all! i mean i am mostly there because i want to play sax but i am also there to be with the people who have been with me the whole way through band! and if any of you are in any band in school for multiple years than you can support me in saying that the entire band is like a huge family brought together by there love for band!!!!!!! and the director is not only the head of the band but also the head of that big band family!!!! and it hurts to see them go!!!!! crying and i did not know till this summer when one of my band pals told me!!!!!!! i didn't even know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i never got to say good bye!!!!!!!!!!!

My now-senior friend got told this year that a freshman bari player is replacing him in symphonic band and he has to play tenor now. he said he was ready to have a tantrum. He still plays bari in jazz, he's happy for that.
