Alright so, I like everything that's been said so far about the hollows/espada/so on and so forth...
I'd go on and on and make some lengthy post pretty much agreeing to everything so I'll keep it short.
I wish to play a hollow, just a plain jane hollow who gains power/knowledge strictly through RP. I would love it to start off at Adja... dang I dunno how to spell it?
Adjachus.
[Edit... guess not, never mind. Prepare for wall of text.]
There we go, anyways, I'd like to think that I've done a lot of growing as a writer since I last RPed here. With the help of maturity, and a handy college education I think I can proudly boast that I "should have" at least improved a little.
Before I was completely guilty of being power hungry, and the "fame" completely got to my head. Sure I've had plenty of successful attacks on Soul Society with Buru Riki, I mean who can say they've kidnapped two captains right out of a Captain's meeting and live long enough to laugh it in the face of his/her enemies only to create even more havoc down the road.
I could brag about that, or I can use just a tidge bit of logic and say that all of that was possible because of fellow authors wishing for a similar thing. People wanted a scary and effed-up badguy, and I answered the call. I didn't earn anything, and I certainly didn't beat anyone while I RPed. My victories (and losses), every one of them, came pre-planned. It doesn't make me better than any other writer here.
Which the whole reason I'm ranting about Buru's RP's is because everything that he was had been earned through strictly RP. I didn't gain anything by out-writing anyone, and I didn't give him powers on a whim simply because he needed or I wanted more power. Sure I absolutely loved having it, but it wasn't the main drive behind the character.
Things that a character driven purely by RP and NOT by out-writing / beating people in PvP RP. - One of the first Captain's to become Viazard, the first was Feiy(SP?) - One of the first Playable characters to become an active bad-guy within the guild. The first was Triox. - The first ever character whom ruled over Las Noches and represented the bad-guys as a whole (I also RPed Aizen at the time). The first person to rule over a faction besides Soul Society was Jan-san whom looked over the Quincy, Viazard, and Bount. - One of the few evil characters that had fought and either submitted or came to a stalemate against most captains, though he had his fair share of beatings and losses.
All of this combined took me over two years to accomplish. Every bit of it was earned through pure RP.
No matter what is decided I think that the focus of RP for the sake of RP should never fade from view, not even slightly.
Another character that I'd like to note on the importance of pure RP:
Onalim was the first Captain of 4th Squad from the shift from the BSS Guild to The Sereitei. In my opinion I think she was the most focused character for the position. Every one of her powers were focused on healing, her character's personality fit that of a pure healer.
Of course I'm horribly biased as the person whom played Onalim (Split Personality) is my Fiancee, I have no doubt that there can't be at least a few others that would agree.
Nagi, in my time of RPing, was by far the best captain for fifth squad. He was a character specifically designed for Kidu / Magic. He fit all the typical roles of a wizard-sorcerer type. Loving to read, have knowledge and always willing to learn and become something more. Being the master of any sort of arcane or divine casting a person has to be knowledgable. Like Onalim he fit the role to a T.
Again I'm biased as Nagi is pretty damned close to a best friend / older sibling as I can get now days. But like I said before both of these characters were geared towards their role. They didn't simply "fill-in"...
To make a very long winded post come to an end, and I've said it a bunch of times before, we should never loose sight of RPing for the sake of RPing. There is nothing to gain in The Sereitei except for good stories, and having a fun time waisting time here in the guild writing with other authors.
There is nothing special about being a person of rank, or having any sort of power.
As Uncle Ben once said to Peter Parker, "With power, comes great responsibility."

I read the wall but I think I see a common theme here. I'd have to be blind not to. You want pure RPs not just fighting RPs. In fact I can agree with that. One of the largest downfalls of this guild was that it became PRP combat based rather than ORP based. If you notice there are probably more short lived PRP battles than anything. However as I'm in a position where I can open chaotic threads and assign danger pretty much anytime I want I promise I'll be opening a lot of ORPs so people have chances to meet up and delve into unexpected situations. To help me with this I may be playing some of my cards in secret. One of our plans is about to be revealed though. About the Aduchjas thing. I might open a poll in Hueco Mundo. Just as an interest check and ask for reasons for and against. I'm sure the Shinigami side won't mind and this growth to power thing is important indeed. I'll ask one of the other mods first though. The issue I foresee is forcing people to draw up two completely different profiles in close proximity. If someone starts as an Aduchjas they may wish to get their mask removed quickly and so we need to do something about that. Perhaps it could be the equivalent to Shikai for Shinigami as they have to wait 2 months for their Shikai and in the same way Hollows unless proven competent would have to wait 2 months for a humanoid form and their resurrecion. I think that might be a good approach actually. We'll just have to add a 'Ajduchas Appearance' profile part. It adds no more than the 'Spirit Appearance' for their zanpakto come to think of it.

There should be requirements of course, but I'm against a "real-time" requirement. Sure plenty of people want their power now, however it's easy enough to tell those individuals that they "have to wait." I would argue that a person simply needs to have a certain skill at writing.
Set the bar wherever you would like it, but this guild started off as a semi-literate RP, though it was never truly discussed or super enforced, authors had to have some level of literacy before acquiring any sort of "power".
After all, I would never wish to see a crew member / captain / vice-captain / anyone with any real responsibility and not have a decent amount of literacy. Of course there can be a time limit set, but it'd never be discussed openly and it should vary from person to person. The one thing we need to look out for is people with dedication to their own cause and to the cause of the entire guild.
If a person can write well, can they coordinate their own RP's well? Can they make a plot for their own character and involve others while doing so? Do they go out of their way to RP with as many different people as possible or do they keep to a certain group? Of course we know the positive replies to any one of these questions and being as such, people who may become crew should be heavily moderated themselves and held to a more strict level of requirements. They for any reason fall below these requirements they are handled appropriately.

Right so we'll have no hard limits you suggest. Just soft limits that can be bent about. That's fine that's what got suggested to me too. We don't have to share the Shinigami limits and can come up with our own.
So yeah we'd have some requirements too. I'd include having taken part in a few RPs in them. We'd have to go further into this down the line but yeah. We do kind of need some sort of harder criteria to judge them by. The things you've suggested seem fine though so I may try and incorporate a few of those.

Well of course, I typically try to suggest the "strict way" of doing things simply because I understand anyone can water it down respectfully and accordingly to fit their own criteria.
On a completely unrelated note, I've posted with Buru Riki for the first time in years here in the guild just now.
It felt good, though I'm kinda sad to see him go.
The ol' guy deserves this in any case. He's been through so much.

I like the new newb items that came out but I'm a little jealous that they are coddling the new newbies so much with all these fru fruey items. I mean back in my day you got rags in varying colors when you joined and that's it. XD;;
But hey at least they are available cheap for us to buy. . u.
