Evander sighed curtly. "For a stallion to get up the nerve to steal a foal away from her mother....that's despicable. All the more reason for Mystekai and his followers to die." he said harshly as smoke billowed from his nostrils. "I'm glad you had the brains to resist his lies." He noticed her singed mane and smiled a bit. "Sorry about that..." he said, motioning to her mane. He then turned his head away and lifted it up to the wind, blowing more smoke from his nostrils that went away with the breeze as the eerie, black, trailing mist around his hooves billowed with the wind.
Ghost cork-screwed in the air just before he came down not 2 yards in front of lioness. He bared his teeth and pinned his ears back, flaring his wings. He turned his head for a split second to look at Kipcha, quickly scanning her for any other injuries, then turned back to lioness.

Kipcha was completely focused on the pain from her wound. Ghost's scream frightened her and she bolted. Not seeing the rock in front of her she stumbled.
The lioness roared at Ghost then sprinted into the bushes. She crept around the stallion and lunged for the mare. Sinking her teeth into the arleady wounded flank.
Bucking Kipcha attempted to throw the lioness, which only loosened it's grip. The cat slashed at her stomach and dropped to the gorund, only to ready itself for another leap. Kipcha squealed as she backed from the lioness. "Ghost!" She had finaly seen him and looked to him despratly while trying to avoid the lion's claws and teeth.

*Dreamcloud, in her naieve and young ways watched as Smoke piped from his body, it seemed odd to her, to see another dragon-like pegasus living. Evander, however was far more frightening.*
I was forced with them, I rarely could think for myself because of Mystekai's hypnosis flames..His distortion of reality, it made me assume he was much more innocent than he really was, and that I belonged with the three of them..And I know why he wanted a mortal mare..
He wanted to preform tests on one and she seemed perfect, I guess..I saw him do that to Sepsis..She used to be perfectly normal but he gave her wings and when she had her first foal he preformed his tests on it, too and killed it trying to give it a unicorn's horn. It burrowed into the poor thing's brain..He's a twisted one...

Ghost screamed again, he had had enough of the lioness. "Time to show how I got my name..." he said to himself. He took one step forward then vanished. He reappared next to the lioness and with a powerful kick, knocked her to the ground. He pivoted and reared up, and before the lioness could move, he drove his forehooves into her broken body repeatedly, destroying whatever life was left in her. He trotted swiftly to Kipcha's side. "Kipcha, are you okay? God, why did you run back up here with me?" he asked her, worried, nuzzling her neck and withers. He looked over at her wound and winced. It was re-opened, but now twice as big, and was streaming fresh blood. "Come on, back to the river..." He said supporting her as they walked back down the mountainside to where Evander and Dreamcloud were, and to where Casper and Freebird still lay hidden.
Again Evander billowed smoke from his nostrils, but it had a more red tint to it, almost as if it had just come off fire. He could just see it now, a young palomino filly surrounded by that purple fire and Mystekai whispering evil things into her ear.." He stomped his hoof, causing fire to erupt below it. "Oh, no, he's far beyond the point of being twisted.." he said, hissing the 's'. "Performing tests on a helpless foal, killing it, then burrowing into its brain just for pure experimental pleasure is FAR beyond twisted...and I have seen some pretty twisted beings in my lifetime...Oh, I hope he comes back up here, just once. He'd be dead before he could take one hoof off the earth's surface..." he hissed as his red eyes glowed furiously, but not out anger at Dreamcloud.

Kipcha's ears were still back. She flinched at his touch but did not step back. Gathering herself she allowed him to lead her back down the mountian, but once she regained her composuer she stopped. Backing slightly she eyed him cautiously and frowned. "You're one of them? You're a..." She fought the urge to turn and head back up the trail. She knew another not far from here that would take her straight back to her old herd. After everything she had seen, the idea of going back to the herd was very attractive, even if she would go through days of humilation by the lead mare. Looking at Ghost she backed a little further, uneasy in his presence.

*Freebird stood up carefully, as not to step on Casper. She watched him wake up from the motion and they headed back up the hill, as she reached the top she stopped Casper and reared silently to look over the edge. All but Evander and the quiet little one she had hardly noticed were there and it looked fine. She touched back down and continued onto the clearing, Casper just beside her.*

Ghost closed his eyes, so he wouldn't have to look at Kipcha. "Yes...well...only half-blood...my father was a pegasus, and apparently his traits were dominant." He said, trying a shy smile at her. He then sighed. "I haven't spread my wings in years, not since I was a yearling. Since then, they've stayed dormant in my back all my life. I won't be able to retract them again. I'm sorry I never said anything, Kipcha, but I didn't want to become weary of me and leave. Not all of us are like the pegasus you saw today..." He looked at her again with sadness in his eyes. "If you want to leave after you've re-treated your wound, I won't stop you....I can see your reason to hate me right now.." He turned his eyes away from her, looking up at Evander and the golden mare who were not far ahead of them now. He turned his head to see Freebird and Casper emerging from the tall grass and he smiled at them.
Evander lifted his head when he saw Ghost and the Kipcha coming toward them. He screamed again, since he couldn't whinny like regular horses, and the golden mare cringed from him a bit. He turned his head as Freebird and the colt came out of the grass.

*Freebird did not fear Evander, though she thought she should. He was on her side and she assumed meant her no harm, Casper darted out of the clearing, becomming more independant everyday. As Freebird watched as Casper darted about, she grew sad to think that Ghost would eventually have to chase the rapidly growing colt out of his herd.*
*Dreamcloud watched as the young black colt came bounding toward her, she side-stepped and he also shifted positions, as Casper came to a stop he was not at all reluctant to sniff her about, and stood there, grazing.*

Evander nodded his head in greeting as Freebird approached him. "Freebird." He said, acknowledging the mare. He then watched Casper and smiled, he remember being his age, but lucky for him, he would never be sent out from his own herd until he at least grew of age. He lowered his head and sniffed the young colt, blowing smoke into the air as he did, though he meant no harm to him, he only wanted to get to know his scent. He lifted his head and watched Ghost, who was now almost to them. He now saw Kipcha's open wound and grolwed slightly. He left the golden mare and Freebird for a moment and cantered up to Ghost, but so quickly, a jet may have been oncoming straight toward them. "What happened?" he asked, concerned.
Ghost slightly started at Evander's sudden appearance, but quickly regained his composure. "She was attacked by a mountain lioness. I'm taking her to the river to clean it out." he told him quietly, still thinking about Kipcha's weary reaction to his wings. He shook his head. "Are Freebird and Casper okay? And what about the golden mare, is she alright?" he asked Evander, suddenyl becoming alert again.
"Yes they're fine, the golden mare's a bit skitish and shy, but other than that, she's completely harmless..." Evander said, looking over his shoulder at the winged mare. "Maybe you should talk to her a bit, Ghost, I think I'm a bit intimidating.." he said with a teasing smile. He then turned and cantered back to the mares and colt, again appearing faster than they could blink.

Kipcha dropped her head, unable to look directly at Ghost. When Evander joined them she limped over to stand on Ghost's other side, looking at the Evander over his back. She was still skittish around Ghost, but she still trusted him. Barely listening to the conversation she hung her head. She made no move to swish away flys, even though a few were buzzing around the open wound. When Evander returned to the herd Kipcha raised her head and looked to Ghost, "Ghost I'm sorry. I...it just..." Then lowered her head sadly.

Ghost nuzzled Kipcha. "It's alright..." He then used his own tail to swish the flies off Kipcha's open wound, they would do nothing but infect it. "And don't worry about Evander, he won't hurt you, I promise." he then nudged her neck slightly. "Come on, we still need to get you to river." He walked forward with her again. He then spoke to Evander through his mind. 'Treat Kipcha really sweetly, okay? She doesn't trust you, and I want her too.' he told him.
Evander looked up at Ghost and Kipcha as they walked past. 'Alright, I will. But I can see why she doesn't, no one ever trusts me due to my appearance.' he said smiling at them when they past.
Ghost returned the smile. 'Well, you know I trust you. You've never given me a reason not to, Evander.'
Evander smiled again. 'Well, I trust you too. Even when I got kicked out of our herd, you were always there for me, and I can't thank you enough for that. Without your friendship, I might have ended up like Mystekai...' he said through his mind, shuddering slightly.

Kipcha looked wearily at Evander as they past. She had to lean on Ghost just to get to the river, and her blood now stained both of their coats. "I got scared. I shouldn't have run, but I couldn't think of anything else. I'm sorry." She turned her head to ich the wound and saw the stain on his coat. "Oh look, I've gotten you all dirty. You're not hurt are you?" She looked at him, quite worried that he had gotten hurt. She couldn't spot any injuries but then she could only see one side.

*Dreamcloud wasn't used to being so free in her head, or even out in the physical world. She didn't know what to think or feel or do, she stood and looked akwardly about, still feeling like she didn't belong here. Freebird had come closer, following her colt and the four stood in a small group as Ghost and Kipcha dwindled a little farther away into the scenery towards the river.*

Ghost smiled endearingly at Kipcha. "Don't worry! He's not going to hurt you." He looked back at the stain on his coat. "Ah, don't worry about that, I don't mind it. All I care about is making sure you don't bleed to death. And you had the right to feel frightened., you don't need to apologize." He nuzzled her again. "I'm fine, he only pulled out a bit of my maneand I have a bruise on my otehr side, but I'm fine." They finally reached the river and Ghost walked with her into the water before stepping back a few steps. "Make sure to clean it well." he told her, his voice soft.
Evander smiled at Dreamcloud, but kept his mouth closed. He didn't want to scare the mare with his fangs. "So, what's your name?" he asked her calmly. He glanced sideways at Ghost and Kipcha down at the river, then returned his attention to the golden mare. 'Ghost, this poor thing can't even think for herself, Mystekai always had her under his hypnosis flames. Hurry up and come back up here, she needs some reassuring help from something other than a hell horse..' he laughed silently to himself.
Ghost smiled to himself as well. 'Alright I'll be back up as soon as Kipcha finishes with her wound. It's pretty nasty, Evander, give her some time. I'm going to have to help her back up too. I'll be there as soon as I can.' he returned his attention ot Kipcha.

"All right and Ghost, thank you." She stepped deeper into the water and lowered herself into it. Letting the water wash out the wound and most of the blood in her coat, she relaxed. Finaly she turned her head and cleaned the wound, making sure to get it perfectly clean. Once finished she sat in the water for awhile longer, waiting untill most of the bleeding seemed to stop. She stood and gently shook the water from her coat. Limping back to Ghost, she had trouble getting over the bank, having to hop weirdly. Back at his side she nuzzled him, "Clean enough?"
