||Quite alright! And it seems we still have one person yet to scare away... sweatdrop ||
Rainer's brows furrowed over her white-gold eyes in a frown of unhappiness and shame. He was crying, for Hyne's sake, and it was her fault. But how? It was no fault of hers if she had no memories of him!
Rainer winced as he spoke again, tears evident on his face. She gazed at him helplessly, wishing to allieve his pain.
"I... I remember fighting. A train... It was... Doo..." Rainer shut her eyes in concentration as her brows furrowed. No, there was no name she could remember of that train. "There was... a gunblade. It wasn't mine, I don't think." She shook her head slowly. "No, not mine. It shattered... and then the pain." Rainer sighed as she opened her eyes and gazed unhappily at James. "Then I remember pain, and that's where it all stops."
Rainer suddenly spied another man beyond James. It was Isaac. There was blood on his pants. Sudden worry gripped Rainer until she realized it wasn't his.
"I remember Isaac," she said, puzzled. "Funny that I remember him and not you... James."

(I haven't posted because Isaac's just listening to Rainer and James, nothing he can do. And if you're reading this and aren't apart of it, join! I'll try to think of something...)

((OoC: Sorry! I'm still here! sweatdrop So you've got one more person to scare away. Works been crazy, so I haven't been on-line in quite a while. But I should be fine now. Sorry for all the trouble. But I must admit that it was rather difficult to catch up with all that reading: Obsidian & Maker. Haha. But it was interesting to say the least. I'll wrack my brains for any ideas and I'll let you know.))
As Mimi had reached the top pillars of Balamb Garden, she had a feel for all it's entrances and exits. Glancing down, she shook out her arms, ready for the rather large amount of magic she was about to perform. Meticulously, she laid a barrier over the entrances and exits of Balamb, restricting entrance to any other Galbadian soldiers who would want to enter. Sure that there was no glitch in what she had done, she slid down the ramparts and reached the ladder, climbing back down to the balcony.
Entering the control room, she was glad to hear from the control worker that the Galbadians were - for the most part - dispeled and taken care of. Glancing at the controls, she asked the woman who was working there to move away from their current position. "We need time to figure things out, so a brief trip over seas seems to be in order." The woman nodded and soon Balamb was moving out. Glancing at some of the cameras, Mimi smiled wryly when she caught sight of White Garden.
Patting the woman at the back, she laughed. "I think I'll let you take care of communications. Let the Headmaster or myself know if anything's wrong." The woman nodded and Mimi turned to leave, hoping that everything had turned out for the best. She may have appeared calm, but inside . . . she was writhe with worry.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Those moments had occured quite some time ago. After leaving the control center, Mimi had made her way around the garden: asking questions, giving aid here and there, learning of their losses.
Finally, she stood solemnly in front of the infirmary. She had yet to speak with Alistar, but some thin rumors that reached her had told her that James, Isaac, and Rainer would be here. The other rumors she did not want to believe, but she would be prepared for them to be true.
With the appearance of another Sorceress, than surely things were beginning to change in the world.
Strolling into the infirmary, and leaving her large blade against a wall in the entrance, she questioned the nurse as to the whereabouts of Rainer and James. Discovering that they were in the back room of the infirmary, Mimi made her way there.
For a moment, she stood in the doorway, seeing through the glass window that James and Rainer were having what looked like a rather serious and stressed conversation, she waited. Finally, seeing Rainer address Isaac, she made her way in. She tried to keep the worry and any questioning look from her face as she glanced at the others.
"Are you all okay?" When she asked this, her eyes fell on Rainer, who had certainly carried most of the stress of the attack. It wasn't a look of blame. No. More a tint of worry with an attempt at neutrality - a look that Mimi often used when she was trying to organize her thoughts.

Rainer sighed as she lifted a hand in greeting to Isaac. Why he was wiping the blood on his pants was a mystery to her. Rainer wrinkled her nose as the metallic scent of blood from Isaac and other patients wafted into her nose. Beyond anything else, Rainer hated the scent of blood.
Rainer stole a look at James. He was still standing there, looking at her like she had just broken his heart. Rainer's heart skipped a beat at his expression. Rainer bit her lip and looked back down as Mimi entered the room.
"I... I'm still alive, Mimi," she whispered to her from across the room.

Azhure stared into the mirror, hating her reflection. Gone was her beautiful white-gold eyes and her long white hair. Now she had green eyes and black hair, and that just killed her.
"I'm going to kill her," she hissed at the Sorceress, glaring at the reflection of her in the mirror. Turning to her, Azhure was seized with envy. Of course Leagh was still calm; she still had her beautiful self and her powers. Now Azhure was left with nothing. Now that they were no longer sisters as Sorceresses, Azhure could feel a rift between them where once there was none.
Leagh spread her hands helplessly.
"You know I tried to exact revenge on the girl," she said placatingly. "I tried to erase her most precious memories, but the girl accidentally forced them into me." Leagh's shoulders drooped in defeat. "Now I have her stupid memories of a man named James. Surely you understand why I hesitate to approach her again! You are... were more powerful than I and now she has your powers! If I try to approach the girl again, she could very well kill me!"
Azhure's lip lifted in a silent snarl.
"You owe me your life, Leagh," she snapped. "I've saved it more than once, and you owe me any favors I ask of you."
Now Leagh's eyes narrowed.
"I just saved your life," she snarled in return. "He doesn't want you anymore. You're of no more use to him now, fool."
Azhure took half a step back, hurt. Of course, Leagh was right. Now she was of no more use to him and now she was powerless.
"I cannot get your powers back for you, Azhure," Leagh said crossly. "You know that."
Azhure's anger returned.
"Yes, but you can kill the girl. Just because I am no longer a Sorceress, don't fool yourself into thinking I cannot kill you."
This time it was Leagh who took a half-step back. That was indeed what she had been thinking, and she wouldn't believe Azhure if not for the deadly look in her eyes.
"Very well," she whispered. "Just... give me a few hours."
Azhure smiled, sweet as sugar.
"But of course. Anything for you, Leagh."
Leagh frowned at Azhure but turned away and disappeared from sight.

"James," Rainer said quietly. "You know how they say in the history books that Sorceress Edea had her powers taken from her by the doctor in Esthar. Maybe we could do that?" she said hopefully. "I bet they still have the procedure written down somewhere, and they could do it for me!"
Rainer yanked at her white hair.
"Y'see this? I don't wanna look like this. I don't want these powers. I hate them. Please, take me to Esthar. Maybe they can even restore my memory!" Rainer's eyes started to shine, though with hope this time instead of tears.

James wiped the tears from his eyes. There was no use in crying over something that he couldn't fix. It was heartbreaking to lose his one, true friend, but the Rainer that he knew was currently gone. The true Rainer was possibly gone for good. Only time would tell. How could they get Rainer's memory back?
"Since you seem to remember your History Classes so vividly," James gave her a weak smile, "you should also remember that the process of taking the power from a Sorceress was, and never has been, perfected. It had serious damaging affects on Sorceress Edea. Taking that risk is something that you have to decide on. I'd talk it over with the people you remember though."
James made a hand gesture toward Mimi and Isaac before walking out of the infirmary, an obvious weight on his shoulders. He needed time to think. For him, his best thinking came while training. So, he made his way toward the Training Center on the other side of the garden. That was one thing that Balamb had on Esthar Garden: If ever you couldn't sleep, take a trip to the Training Center and wear yourself out. You're bound to sleep eventually.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Alister was waiting at the entrance of the Training Center when James arrived. He had figured that James would need to get away from the situation, and knowing how his old battle partner thought, guessed that training would be his first stop. James strode right past him, though. He didn't want to talk. All James wanted was to bring down every enemy in his path.
Alister followed regardless. In his current state, James wasn't safe to leave alone in the training room. T-Rex roamed the area freely, as well as various other lesser enemies. A little bit of backup is always good was Alister's train of thought.
The two of them traveled deep into the Training Center, flattening every small enemy as they did so. Twenty Five Grats fell in the first fifteen minutes, a record for Balamb Garden that would remain unrecorded. It wasn't until the back of the Room, near the Balcony in the back, that Alister and James ran into a T-Rex and had their hands full.

( gonk AAHHH! Giant posts!)
Isaac had indeed followed the pair into the training center, James signaled to follow, Isaac followed. But he decided to act like a rear guard and was picking off creatures as they came and slashing at those that got too close. So as he fell further behind in collecting his knives, wishing he actually had gone to retrieve his sword from the Deling room. His jaw dropped when he saw the T-Rex some distance ahead of him and knew that James and Alister were there. Isaac smiled and started to flank it widely, trying not to be seen as he made his way to the monster’s backside. He would have to wait for someone to launch an attack that would really distract it before he could make his move.

Mimi smiled at Rainer and nodded. "I'm glad to hear that." Silently, she listened to Rainer and her conversation with James. Esthar could easily be approached. But Mimi had a feeling that Alistar would not want to bring the entire Balamb Garden to Esthar. If so, that would mean it would only be a select few who traveled to Esthar. Most likely herself, James, Isaac, and Rainer.
With a silent sigh, she shut her eyes as the two spoke. James was right. The process of taking away a sorceress' power was uncertain. But . . . it was the only chance they had. Unconciously, Mimi's hand went to her neck, reaching for something, but with a slight disapointment she realized that she had left it in her room.
As James left and he gestured with his hands, Mimi nodded. He struck her as the type of man to vent his frustrations through fighting. Deciding not to leave Rainer alone just yet, she pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down. Shortly after Jame's departure, Isaac followed him, perhaps taking the gesture as a request to follow James.
Glancing at Rainer, she smiled. "I've got to say, white hair doesn't really suit you." She laughed lightly. "So perhaps, we better find a way to rid yourself of it. It's not very fitting, you know."
With a sigh, she glanced out the glass windows and back at Rainer. "If you're up to it, I think we'd best leave tomorrow. For Esthar I mean. I'm positive that we'll recieve the okay from Alistar. And I'll take one of the vehicles with us to make travel easier. But . . . as for that hair of yours, what say we find a way to make it less noticeable? A hat? Or we could try dying it?" She frowned and laughed. "But I have a feeling that might not work."
Glancing over, she saw a nurse in the doorway, a scowl on her face. With a tired smile, Mimi stood up. "Looks like my times up." She pushed the chair back and stopped at the doorway. "Get some rest, so you'll be ready for tomorrow." With that, she left, grabbing her sword by the door and swinging it onto her back. Following directions given to her by a number of SeeD members, she made her way to the training hall, hoping to find Alistar.
Without quite concentrating, she made her way through the leafy paths til' she reached the area near the back balcony of the Training Hall. She watched as Alistar and James battled, along with Isaac. Feeling that three was enough for this fight, she stayed back, only intending on helping if things got rough. It was then, that she was glad to have a Headmaster capable of defending himself.

Rainer watched, hurt and confused, as James left the infirmary. Isaac followed shortly after. Rainer fell back against the pillows, scowling. She had thought her idea a good one; but then James filled her with doubt. Should she try getting rid of her powers? Or should she just suffer and stay a Sorceress?
Rainer saw Mimi move toward her and sat up with a small smile. This was the first time she and Mimi had anytime to speak to each other about things other than business. Although Rainer had initially not taken a liking to the SeeD, she could see that Mimi was a good fighter and person.
"I never thought I'd live long enough to get white hair," Rainer laughed. "I always thought I'd die before I got old, fighting some kinda T-rexaur or something. I wish we could dye it, but I also think it won't work." Rainer pushed the hair over her shoulders so she wouldn't have to see it. "Thank you for talking to me. I'll try..."
Rainer sighed as Mimi left. The nurse who had scowled at Mimi came over to Rainer and started fussing with her blankets.
"Now, Miss de Weistrasse, you heard your friend. You must get a lot of sleep today before any straining work tomorrow. Would you like to eat before you sleep?"
Rainer smiled weakly. She put a hand to her stomach that had just started growling.
The nurse smiled knowingly and said, "I'll send some food for you, dear. And it won't be no darned hot dogs, neither." She smiled at the grinning Rainer and moved to see some other patients.
Ten minutes later, the nurse came back with a tray of a salad, a small cup of water and a bowl of gently steaming soup.
"I almost had to fight tooth and nail for such a meal," the nurse joked, "so I hope you like it."
Rainer smiled and sat up.
"Thank you very much. It's perfect."
The nurse gave Rainer a motherly smile and bustled away. Rainer watched her as she left then turned to her food. As she ate, Rainer thought of the problems she might face at Esthar if she had her powers stripped from her.
Later, as the others were preparing for sleep, Rainer sighed, restless. Standing, Rainer looked about to search out any nurses. Seeing none, Rainer snuck out the infirmary door and made her way down to the giant circular walkway of Balamb Garden. She sat on one of the benches, trying to think of a place she could go to receive peace and relaxation. Her eyes wandered to the quad and she smiled to herself. Rainer stood and entered the quad, making for the balcony. She leaned on it and sighed, watching the water below dance with the reflected lights of the Garden. Above her, the moon shone big and bright. Rainer could see the dozens of pits and craters on the moon's surface and she wondered what a horrifying spectacle the Lunar Cry must be. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself, eyes dropping back down to the water.

((OoC: Sorry for the really long post. I didn't know it'd turn out like that. Hope it's not too much reading for you guys. And Bluangel . . . pretty much, Balamb's on the ocean after defeating Galbadia and Rainer's turned into a sorceress and now the others are planning to go to Esthar to see if they can reverse Rainer's transformation. xp ))
Mimi, as she watched, decided that perhaps the others were best left alone. Leaving the Training Hall, with only a few minor run-ins, she made her way to the Residence Hall. It had been quite some time before she had sat and fiddled with her own relic of the past - something Alistar had passed down to her quite some time ago.
Seeing a few SeeD members making their way to their rooms, ready to call it a night, Mimi smiled and opened her dormitory door. Strolling in to her room and shutting the door behind her, Mimi sat down on the edge of her bed.
The sword she had left leaning against the wall. Reaching over, she pulled open a drawer and reached inside. Pulling out a thick silver chain, Mimi glanced down at the ring that hung off the necklace. The insignia of a lion could be seen on it's carved surface. Despite it's apparent age, the ring was still in good condition.
Pulling the chain over her neck, Mimi tucked the ring into her shirt. She had a feeling that after tomorrow, she might not be coming back to Balamb anytime soon. And if that was the case, then she would bring this with her. Alistar had told her to keep it with her. And so she would attempt to follow directions at last. It was - supposedly - a remembrance of the past. Or so Alistar said. And belonged to her namesake. The legacy of those who defeated Ultimecia could be traced to the ring.
Afraid to be pulled back into such historical - and sometimes emotional - pasts, Mimi stood up and made her way back outside. She remembered speaking with Rainer and was glad she did. Despite their rather uneasy start, Mimi was certain that Rainer was a good person. And it was unfair that such stress be placed on her.
-------------------------------------------------------
Having gone up the elevator, Mimi stood now in front of Alistar's office, with the hopes that he would be in the Headmaster's chambers beyond the first room. The secretaries were gone - most likely already in their beds.
Mimi knocked and Alistar's voice told her to enter. When she walked in, Alistar was sitting behind his desk, his legs propped up on the cherry-colored wood.
"I was expecting you sooner or later. Sit down"
Mimi sat down in one of the leather chairs across from him and leaned back. Glancing at him, she smiled. "I'm guessing you already know why I'm here."
Alistar nodded. "Pretty much. After James earlier, well, it's a given. And . . . knowing you, you want to help Rainer."
"That's pretty much it. Even if . . . well, even if it's dangerous, it's better than letting her sit here and do nothing about it. I know . . . I know that I would want to be doing something about it. And . . . who knows. Maybe she'll be sure about what it is she wants to do when we get to Esthar." Mimi looked up again. "So we'll be leaving tomorrow, most likely James and Isaac and Rainer and I." Mimi didn't ask. It was a statement.
Alistar closed his eyes and sighed. "Of course. I'll contact the transport workers to prepare a vehicle and supplies for you. Do you want me to contact Esthar Garden?"
"No. We don't want any advance notice. It'll bring too much attention."
Nodding, Alistar stood up. "And I suppose you'll be seeing him while you're there?"
Mimi glanced up, not expecting the question. "I don't even know if he's still in Esthar. Some say he's gone a little . . . well, crazy."
Alistar laughed. "He probably has. Let me know how he's doing if you see him." Mimi nodded.
"Of course." With that, she stood up and made her way to the door. The air in the room had grown solemn and heavy and Mimi could feel it weighing down on her. She was about to leave when, halfway through the door, Alistar spoke.
"Mimi."
"Yes?"
"Be careful. And . . . " there was a pause before he spoke. "Well, I'll see you. When you get back."
Mimi hesitated before closing the door behind her. "Of course. When I get back." The door shut with a click and Mimi walked down the hall ready to make her way back to the dorms. Her fingers closed over the ring under her shirt for a moment before dropping down to her side. Standing in the elevator, she watched as the slidding doors shut out the oak doors leading to Alistar's quarters. With a lurch, the elevator went down.

((Sorry for missing out on so much. Been a little busy.))
After the fight with the T-Rex had been finished, ending with the monster's head being cut clean off by James's Limit Break, James had wandered onto the Balcony in the back of the Training Center. A handful of couples were there, wanting time to meet after curfew. They didn't have time during the day, and so they met at night despite what the Disciplinary Committee said. And at the sight of James several of them began to leave, only until he waved them off. They were fine to stay; he wasn't in the mood to play the Disciplinary Messenger that night.
He leaned up against the wall and slid down to the floor, looking up to the sky as the Garden traveled across the sea. His gaze was fixed upon the brightest star in the sky, his star. When he was young, it was the star that his father had picked out for him, something that he would never forget. Just a few days later his parents disappeared, a memory that he was reminded of every time he saw the star. But it was also a star that he shared with someone, a piece of information that quite literally no one knew about. He preferred to keep it that way.
"I'm getting far too old for this..." James muttered to himself, "...far too old."
Several students glanced over at him as he rambled to himself, his gaze never leaving the stars. They figured it would be best to leave him alone. Before they knew it, he had fallen asleep leaning up against the wall. He was just that exhausted.

Isaac had been exploring the Garden since he gained his 'consciousness' at seeing James' final attack. He hadn't quite seen anything that spectacular before. He laughed at himself quietly as he explored, he should be used to that kind of stuff by now. Even if it was only his second year. He didn't expect to be found either after the curfew and decided to take a quick breather against a wall. His eyelids started to fall and he nearly fell over. He shook his head and continued on, still hoping that no one would find him before he was inside.

((Sorry guys, but I'm tired of waiting. So, I'm moving the RP to the next morning.))
James awoke the next morning, still sitting on the Balcony in the back of the training center. It took him a moment to realize exactly where he was; the fight had exhausted him so badly that his memory was gone. Rubbing his temples, it finally call came back to him. So, he slowly got up and traveled back out of the training center. Time was coming for them to prepare to leave.
He slowly made his way out of the Training Hall and toward the Infirmary. He wanted to speak to Rainer one last time before everyone left for Esthar again, and that was going to be his only chance. He was stopped once or twice along the way as people asked for help or advice, but then he continued on.
When he entered the Infirmary, two doctors rushed forward to look him over. Apparently the fighting last night was harder on him than he realized, and they insisted that they bandage some of his wounds. Now that he thought about it, he was having a hard time breathing as well.
Overall, he had broken three ribs and taken several large cuts to the back. He knew that Rainer wouldn't be happy, however little she may have remembered about him. He had been dumb. He went to the Training Center, fully expecting to fight on his own. He almost got himself killed. He had to talk to her though, so he knocked on the door to her room and slipped inside. He wasn't the first to say anything, though. He let her speak first.

Rainer sighed as she stared down at the moon's reflection. Yawning, she stretched and realized how late it must be. Something splashed in the water. Rainer started and stared at the splash it made, pausing mid-stretch. She dropped her arms to the railing and peered over the side, white-gold eyes wide in curiosity. Another splash followed, then another. Soon the water was full of splashes, and Rainer, delighted, leaned over the railing to watch the jumping fish leap out of the water. Her smile faded a little as the fish swam out of sight, but she felt immensely relaxed and happy. The sight of the little fish made her forget her worries, if only temporarily.
Grinning, Rainer slowly made her way back to the infirmary. As she entered, she forgot that she had snuck out. The doctors and nurses frowned at her in disapproval but let her go to her bed. She flopped onto the bed and lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. Her eyes drifted shut, and then she realized how exhausted she was. She was asleep within moments.
Seven hours later, Rainer woke up. There was a nurse by her side, reading several papers. She turned to see Rainer awake and bustled away.
Rainer sat up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. No sooner had she done this when James walked in. He moved stiffly, as if in pain. Concern crossed Rainer's features as she furrowed her brows at him in consternation.
"What's wrong? What are those--bandages?" Rainer scowled at him. She may not remember him, but the routine of scolding someone seemed rather familiar.
"What happened?" she said, frowning. "Did you go to the Training Center or something? You were fine before you left." Rainer swung her legs down off the bed and stood a little dizzily at first before gaining her balance and approaching James. She circled him, examining his bandages and frowning, sighing every now and then. She stopped in front of him and stood with her hands on her hips.
"So what now, James?" she asked. The name came strangely to her mouth; if, before, she had indeed known him, she called him something other than his given name. "Did you think about what I said? Either way, I think our best bet would be to head to Esthar and see about that operation."
