Volvy Yeah, it all depends. Some dubs are great, others are terrible, and usually there's something of a trade-off going with one over the other. I'm happier when the dub is good enough that there's no reason to worry about it, though. I'd never dream of watching Cowboy Bebop subbed, for example. I think Bebop's superb dubbing owes a lot to its integration of Western culture. Though I'm sure having a huge studio like Sunrise handling the production didn't hurt. xd The other example of this that comes immediately to mind is The Big O. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

Another thing to notice about it, did any of you get the vibe that Big O was like Gundam mixed with Batman? Everyone around me always seems to get that vibe from it. Either way, Big O rocks, it needs to be put back on Adult Swim.

Either way, Big O rocks, it needs to be put back on Adult Swim. A lot of reviewers have made the connection with Batman: tAS, so you're certainly not alone in that regard. As for it being mixed with Gundam, the only vague similarity there was that both have mecha. Gundam , with one or two exceptions, focuses almost exclusively on war and politics. Bandai released the series in their Anime Legends brick pack series not long ago, so that's an affordable way to get your hands on it.

Dear lord, I HATE EscaFlowne. My friend made me watch the movie and a few episodes and it only succeeded in pissing me off really bad. The only animes I ever enjoyed watching were Trigun & Lupin the 3rd.

I haven't watched the Escaflowne OVA, but I have seen the movie. It failed to make much of an impression on me as well. Hitomi was annoying, and Van was a boring-as-hell protagonist. At least the designs for the mecha armors were neat; that's something I can always appreciate.

Well I saw the series finish now, though I slept through a chunk of the middle. It was decent.
I've heard the movie was pretty weak, though, so that may have left a bad impression. Not that there was anything really amazing in the show either. A couple secondary characters were worthwhile, by Hitomi really grates on the nerves.
I'll have to look into Big O... never even heard of it before.

It's worth it just for the awesomely bizarre Queen-style intro.

Shadowlit Facade It's worth it just for the awesomely bizarre Queen-style intro. To be quite honest, that was my favorite part of the anime. I didn't even know it was Queen inspired until I started listening to them. Then the rest was history. But it was just a great intro.

'cept for the horribly mangled pronunciation of "We have come to terms." by the Japanese singer. xp One of the coolest catch phrases ever deserves better.

Oh... btw I've been informed the song I had labeled as The Root of All Evil by Dream Theater that I used in the Bleach video I made was actually wrong.... and it's Crucify by James LaBrie. I knew it sounded off... and I just loved the song anyway. I really hate WMP sometimes.... just too lazy to get something else. When I ripped Shogun into it, it mislabeled all the song titles D: even went and fixed them and it still messed them up again.
Also! Been watching the Ninja Scroll series lately.... I liked the movie better and wish I could find it... but it's not too horrible... aside from being kinda cheesy and having lame English dubbed voices.

Ninja Scroll ... it's a classic anime. I think the best part would have to be the first 10-15 mins into the movie is pretty alright but it just sort of goes down hill towards the end.
I really don't like watching anime dubbed stare

I'm a huge fan of DearS, and every so often I can be caught watching it for inappropriate reasons. redface Joking. In all do seriousness though, I love DearS, Azumanga Daioh, and a bit of Tsubasa. It keeps me happy. I haven't read anything past the first issue of Tsubasa though, and am missing 3 DearS mangas to have the entire collection.
