As soon as she heard the arrows loose, and someone shout, Alicia, with the lightening-fast reflexes she'd gained from being a thief, grabbed her dagger and threw it, causing it to knock away the arrows heading for Vince and Aleric. The others she knew were okay, because she heard the arrows fall uselessly to the ground. She wasn't so lucky however.

Alicia shrieked and fell to the ground. The arrow had grazed the side of her thigh, though it was really more of a gash that was steadily pouring out blood. Pressing her hand to the wound to temporarily staunch the flow, she looked to the rooftops. There were archers lined on every one.

Alicia shakily got to her feet and yelled, "Get back inside!" Then she began to head to the temple with a clumsy and painstakingly slow gait.

Aleric watched as she had risked her own self to save them. He shook his head, 'Weak.' His hands raised and he muttered an incantation before a larger black bubble wrapped around him. It didn't take seconds before it pushed off heading for the archers. About mid point it began breaking off into several smaller black energy bubbles that then began to bubble with how much energy they held. Aleric smirked, each bubble taking aim at everyone one of the archers.

Alicia tripped and looked back, seeing the black shroud bubbles zooming off at the archers. She didn't know for certain, but she had a good idea of what they would do, so she rummaged around in her pack and dug out two apples. One of them she pelted at Aleric.

"Whaddya have to go and do that for, you idiot! No one has to be hurt, moron! If we'd just all gone inside, they would have left us alone! You didn't have to g o and use your magic on them!" She was breathing heavily by then, and just took a bite out of the other apple she took out and reveled in the normality of it.

Aleric grabbed the apple that was thrown at him and then glared at the girl, "Your saying you would rather keep running then make sure that your safe?" His eyes narrowed, "Your more foolish than I thought. More than willing to destroy guards but not anyone else. More pathetic that I think of it." He turned back to his balls of energy and sighed, "Oh... my lady." He had a mocking tone to his voice this time, "I wasn't saving the girl."

"You just don't get it do you," Alicia said slowly. "There's a difference between temporarily incapacitating and killing! Death lasts forever! You can't reverse it! What bruises those guards now have are going to be gone by the end of the week, but if you kill those archers, that's it! Game over! Their time is up!" She took a deep breath then continued. "You can't take away life as you please! You can't play the role of a god. You'll anger them all!"

Aleric rolled his eyes, "I'm not going to kill them." He sighed, "It has paralyzation in the energy with a little poison, now get off my back and don't always make assumptions." He smirked a little, "But I could kill them."

"Well, you never gave me any indication otherwise, you know!" she replied hotly. Alicia tried to get up, but when she couldn't she let out a string of curses that would have made a sailor blush. "Can't anyone help me out here!" She blinked and the world spun. "I'm starting to get dizzy!"

Lendelea followed in complete silence as they walked out to face the soldiers, she hated fighting, but since the others seemed to have things under control Lendelea didn’t bother to interfere, at least not yet… As soon as the fighting stopped she would have confronted the mage just as Alicia seemed to be doing had not the archers and newcomer suddenly distracted her. But before she could act they were already taken care of… or at least, before she had chosen a target, decided whether she actually wanted to kill someone, and then put up a very small magical (or almost magical since Lendelea knew very little of her elf heritage) shield to keep herself from flinching under the harsh control of the black mage’s magic. She grimaced at the way he used it. Alicia was right though; he shouldn’t act the part of a god.

“Here,” Lendelea said grasping Alicia by the hand while poring strength into her, something she learned on accident with her father… were she almost killed herself trying to save him from the inevitable. “Calm down now, its best we sort this all out on peaceful terms, please.” Lendelea suggested now coming to face the black mage. “Since, answering questions doesn’t seem to be your forte, would you mind explaining at least how you came to be here of all places. As far as this town goes, or whatever it is you like to call it, the defenses are not up to match with that of a black mage’s, and as for putting someone in prison,” Here Lendelea snorted with disgust, “a grandmother could get out of these prisons without breaking into a sweat.” Lendelea didn’t mention that was also why so many thieves ran about the place… especially considering that Alicia herself seemed to be such a person. And by all means, go a head and let her be! It wasn’t as if the soldiers and ruler truly cared what happened to the people anyways.

Narren slowly sidled up to the group, trying to stay out of the mage's sight. As he drew level with the group, he hesitated, hidden behind the thick trunk of one of the few trees in the courtyard. Steeling himself, he peeked around the trunk at them.

What are these people doing in the city? he wondered, his gaze skipping from the man with the staff who had wiped out the guards, to the elderly priest and the acolyte nearby, to the elf who knelt by the girl who had been injured, and to the girl herself. And why are they so intent on causing trouble for themselves? Surely they're not from around here? Everyone from Danecha knows not to fuss about the guards - at least not if they want to stay in the city.

Staring at the girl, Narren slowly realised that he knew her features from somwhere. Where exactly, he couldn't say - but he got the unsettling feeling that he knew her, or had once known her. Racking his brains, he almost sighed in frustration when he came up blank.

Risking a glance at the mage, he quickly retreated behind the tree, shivering. He couldn't shake the feeling of sheer wrongness in the air from when that mage had eliminated the archers. It was like a fog in the air, and it left him cold.

Common sense screamed at him to get out of there, away from these dangerous people, and away from where guards were probably going to come swarming in a minute. He stared at the open alleyway a few metres from his hiding spot. Nothing was stopping him from leaving - but still...something was nagging at him, whispering in his ear to stay and find out who these people were. Biting his lip, he glanced at the sky, and stayed where he was. At the very least, this was more interesting than sweeping up the unwanted bit and pieces of meat after his father was done with his work...

"Thanks!" Alicia smiled at the half-elf then took a bite of her apple. She was more than a bit miffed that this Aleric guy just brushed her off like that. Plus he wasn't even eating the apple she threw at him! Apples aren't only used for projectiles, you know! she thought angrily at him. You might want to eat it now. After all... 'An apple a day keeps the healer away!' And boy, do I need a healer now...

She gingerly tested her injured leg by putting some weight in it. Immediately, pain shot down to her foot, then all the way up to her head, causing her to almost collapse. However, she fell forward a little and was able to grab fistfuls of Lendelea's clothing.
