"No kidding!" L'real whispered back to N'rin while the Weyrlingmaster waited for questions. Noth took advantage of the pause and lunged for a larger peice of meat in L'real's hand. "Hey, careful! I need those fingers, lovely." I'm feeding you as fast as I dare. Dare faster then! I need food now!

The girl laughed, but continued to feed her new lifemate slowly. She could feel waves of drowsiness from Noth, even as she gorged. At this rate she might end up carrying her dragon down to the barracks. And while Noth might have been a relatively small green, there was still no chance of L'real being able to pull that one off. Are you going to be able to stay awake long enough if you keep stuffing yourself? Don't worry, mine. I'm perfectly capable of walking.

L'real wondered if all the dragons were this tired. If they were, she didn't envy N'rin the task ahead of him, she thought with a grin as she glanced over at N'rin and Ardeth, who were playing what looked like tug-of-war with a peice of meat.

"Uh, actually... I have a question..." Daniel said laoud enough to carry across to R'ign. His head felt heavy and thick. Drakoth's appetite seemed relitively over for the moment. He seemed quite chipper but a little tipsy. Daniel wondered if he was just feeling his weyrmate's lethargy or if his own body was weighed down by something. His emtions were off to the side but his heart still ached for what happened at the Hall.

"I'm not so sure I can make it to the Barracks. I'm not sure if my dear here is contagious or if I'm tired for other reasons. But I fell like a Runner beast after a race." The timed ride had worn him down. Although he didn't know that the flight was the reason. Daniel was quickly questioned by his Brown about all the worry.
Connntagis? What is that? The brown seemed to feel out the word amazed by its sound.
It means that if you are sick you can make me sick Daniel immediately regretted explianing it that way. Drakoth warbled a bit and moved back.
No I won't let me make you sick...
No silly I mean that your emotions and feelings affect me...
Oh, but you were pretty tired before I found you. So does this mean that you are making me feel tired?

The profound disscusion around the transfer between rider and dragon was cut off. By Arthas' chirps.
Yep, he says it wasn't my fault.
What would he know? Wait, why didn't you tell me you understood him?
Becuase he said you already did...
Not enough to know word for word...
Well he says he got along fine.
I suppose he did, wow that brings a lot of barriers down now...

Akai listened intently. her legs were starting to wake up and hurt a bit but she didn't mind. She giggled soflty as she realized Tollyth had leaned aginst her aand started to once agian doze off. she looked at him and guessed at how much he weighed

"I'll tell you what love. I'll carry you," she said smling and kopi gave a small warbel of my hair or somethign to that effect. Akai giggled soflty covering her mouth since it was a little quiet

You should.. not.. his sleepy voice responded and AKai just smiled

It will be fine tollyth.. you're prolly no heavier than the trays i carry everyday. and the pots of things. I dont' think it's very far.

Tollyth tried to rpotest but realized he haden't since he'd fallen asleep.. and was only vaguly hearing her words in his half asleep state. Akai knelt down and then bit her lip. She couldn't do it with Kopi on her shoulders.. she was afraid of tollyth possibly hurtin him. she looked around and bit her lip. THen stood up and moved to the neares femal with her dragon (anyone i can't htink of who'd be near me)

"Um.. i'm sorry to bother you but.. do you think you ocul.. carry my flit? I don't think Tollyth is going to be able to walk all the way back,. i'd proly end up leaving him in the trail sound asleep.." she said tenativly uncocusly looking down a bit.

((I'm just going to pretend Coren and Liaden have been here the whole time...))((is it okay if I answer you Akai?))

Coren's eyes widended, and his head snapped around in shock as he sought the source of the voice that had suddenly entered his head.

I'm hungry and tired and where are you?

Me? What? I-I'm right...here! Er, I mean, well...where are you...?

The little green snorted. Here! I'm right here sitting on the sand! Find me!

Coren, now C'ren, turned on the spot, his eyes looking around for his dragon. He finally saw her, a small, dark shape against the sands. She was a dark green, quite dark in fact he noticed as he made his way towards her. She looked imploringly at him as she stood up.

Your Isith is hungry!

Yes, of course, don't worry Isith, we'll get you some food, right now!

C'ren gently led the green to the table, taking abowl of meat, and putting them in her mouth. She wolfed them down like a starved thing, scarcely pausing to breathe, and C'ren, panicked that his dragon might choke, snatched the bowl away. Slowly! And chew!

She just gave him a glance, and then went back to eating, though, this time, thankfully more slowly. When she was done, the pair made their way to the weyrlingmaster, Isith complaining of her weariness the whole way.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Liaden looked at the blue with a twinkle of amusement in her eyes as he sighed. I came all this way, you should be Impressed!
Oh, don't worry, I am very impressed. Quite the drama queen aren't you?
If I dragon could roll their eyes, he would have done just that, instead, his eyes whirled in a strange manner, that Liaden was able to recognize for exasparation. No, Azulith is not a queen, I am a blue. B-L-U-E. Blue Azulith, Azul, a shade of blue? You know?
Um...yes...of course...
Azulith gave another dragonic eye roll, and then looked to the table. I require nourishment, let us not stall. With that, he strode off towards the food table, Liaden trailing behind with a slightly bewildered look on her face. She could tell already, Azulith would be an interesting one indeed. As he finished eating, she prepared to take him to the weyrling barracks when another newly impressed girl approached her, asking if Liaden could carry her flit for her. She smiled at the girl. "No problem, Azulith doesn't seem to be as tired as some of the others, I can carry him for you. By the way, I'm Liaden." She gave another cheerful smile as she held out her arms for the flit.
R'ign glanced over at Daniel as the new brownrider asked his question. "Contagious?" She grinned and chuckled. "Probably quite right. The bond between rider and dragon is strong, strong than one with a flit." She added the last part, having noticed that several of the weyrlings had flits. "If he's tired, you're probably feeling it as well. You probably first noticed it with their hunger."
She turned back to the boy. "If you feel too tired to attend the Feast, you don't have to. It's not required and it's been a hetic day." Truth be told, the bluerider was about to fall over herself. She thought about skipping out of the Feast herself, but she was looking forward to that typical drinking contest with Gail. ((Hehehehehe... twisted ))
((Gah! *falls over from the amount of posts made during her "no computer up for grabs" time* So many responses to make!))
He had been hiding among the spectators, watching as so many people found their fate. Finally, as things slowed down, and long after Alerai had impressed, Dilian moved from his seat. Wandering aimlessly, he finally spotted her, sitting their with her... her.. new life...
Coming up beside her noislessly, he spoke in a quiet tone, "You did realy well out there, I'm proud of you." Shards I hope this is a dream, why do things get so complicated?
A'rai looked up from her brown's sleeping pose. "Why thank you," she whispered quietly, trying hard not to grin. "I never expected that I would actually Impress... Dreamed, sure; actually do it..." she trailed off... Rodinth was waking up. He looked up at Dilian. Who's this? A'rai blushed. "You're awake Rodinth. Dilian, this here is Rodnith. Rodinth, say hello to Dilian." Hello. A'rai was about to say more, but someone was coming...
R'ign slowly moved closer to the group of new weyrlings, waiting for the last ones to arrive before starting to gather them all together.
"Weyrlings, gather around a bit here. Those of you who just got here, keep an ear open while you shove food into your dragonet's mouth." She grinned at those still doing so.
"Congradulations to you all on your Impressions. For those of you who don't know me, I am R'ign, rider of blue Kerth and Weyrlingmaster here at Fort. My assistant, Nevaeh, rider of blue Javareth, is currently recovering from the last Threadfall, so she could not make it here. What we say is law." She glanced around sternly at them for a few moments before continuing.
"As you have noticed, the dragonets have quite a hunger. Your main duty for the first few sevendays will be to feed, bathe, and oil the growing dragonets. They will grow rapidly for the next Turn. But for the next few sevendays, they will do little more than grow, eat, and sleep. You will have to constantly oil their hide so that it does not become imperfect and crack between when they grow older.
"For the moment, however, you'll notice that most of your lifemates are about to fall asleep where they stand, so I'll take you all over to the Weyrling Barracks. You may have to oil some of them, then get them to settle and you'll then go to the Lower Caverns for the Hatching Feast. Tomorrow, your dragonets will wake up. Feed them and we'll take a trip to the lake to settle them for a nap there. When they wake, they'll be right where we can bathe and oil them. Any questions?"
A'rai was quite willing to let others ask questions; she was still getting used to Rodinth. Hey Rodinth, you mind us lagging behind for a bit? Go ahead. *yawn* What's "lagging"?
---
B'ren looked at the Weyrling master. That sounded like a lot to do, but he'd do it if he had to! He gently nudged Osseyth. "Come on, its time to get up. You can go back to sleep in a bit. I'd rather not carry you to bed." The bronze raised his head and yawned before opening his swirling blue eyes. Sure, mine. He got up, ready to follow B'ren wherever they were going.
((*dies and and is resurrected* My fingers hurt... >> I need to have Alerai ask Dilian to make sure all her stuff in packed and whatnot... And figure out where Tolan is since Dilian's here... xX wink )
((Thanks Tamiko ^^ Sorry bout not responding till now. had to run to work >.<))
Akai blinked and smield gratefully then began to carefully de-tangel her blue flit from her hair and shoulders.
"I am Akai.. It is a pleasure to meet you Liaden." she said carefully detaching one of Kopi's claws from her impression robe so the material didn't tear. Finally she had the bandaged and still somehowe dozing flit in her arms. Gently she gave him to Liaden.
"Thank you again very much" she says soflty "I appologise for being so foard but he was hurt rather baddly in the threadfall.. and i don't want tollyth to accidently bump into his wounds and wake him" she explained. THen lifted her head and gave the other girl a tenative smile
"His name is Kopi.." she said indicateing the flit slightly "and Tollyth.." she smield at the snoozing blue at her feet well.. half on her feet and half using her as a leaning pole.
"It is nice to meet you Azulith also" she said with a slight bow to the dragon. THen she knelt and gently gathered up her blue in her arms. Carefully she tucked the wings closer to Tollyth's body and he helpd a bit shifting.. then she stood. He was heavy, but she could handel it. She shifted him gently his head curled around her shoudlers right where kopi had been laying.. his tail wrapped partially around her waist.. he nearlly looked like a backpack on backwards with his front legs around akai's arms and her arms carrying him under his rump and above his back legs. She nodded.
"This will work fine. " she says to herself. . Tollyth gave a sleepy rumble of approvel .. stating he'd like to sleep this way quite often and akai giggled soflty.
"I dont' think so Tolyth" she said. sh shifted her weight a bit "I will follow you Liaden and Azulith if you do not mind?" akai added looking a bit uncertinally at them.
(SHOOT! I am so so SO sorry! This week has been pretty busy for me and I haven't been on Gaia much! What with Christmas and my birthday and all... sweatdrop I'm sorry! I'm here now! But I'm prolly gonna miss about an hour or so of that New Years Gaia event- maybe more since it's so late- because of work. Luckily it's Pacific Time so where it starts at 6 for them, that's 10 PM for me. ^^ Okay, lemme go check out what's going on in the last ten pages, and then I'll edit this into a post.
Edit: Okay, I found it! ^____^ Now for a name...)
Kaivani had been one of the last few Harper Hall Candidates to make it into the Hatching, but somehow it had only just started. Mildly confused, she headed down onto the Sands, pulling on the white robe the rider had given her as she went.
Having never really thought it possible to be a Candidate, and while loving dragons still preferring Harper Hall, Kai didn't really mind as dragon after dragon passed her by. When a group of greens, however, managing to start a fight after only a few minutes of freedom from their shells, she couldn't help but grin, and maybe worry- just a little-, at their antics. The brown was what made her really worry, restarting the fight accidentally like that, and she winced in sympathy when they all broke apart enough to let her see his scratches.
When a few of the greens all made their way over and conferred with one another, she grinned in amusement, the thought not crossing her mind that she would Impress until she heard the second voice in her mind.
But that was only after she bumped into me!
She completely missed the amusing little switch two other greens made upon finding their Chosen, being lost in her own Impression, and knelt to check her dragonet for injuries.
"She didn't mean it, I'm sure," Kai crooned to her little darling.
Only those words kept her green from retorting when Zyrith complained to her Chosen. It didn't keep her from grumbling, though.
Silly Zyrith... can't handle it on her own....
Kai winced slightly. It was like handling children again! Which, she realized upon further contemplation, it technically was at this stage. Holding in a sigh, Kai ran a light hand over her dragonet's back.
"Well, um, I suppose you want to eat as ravenously as those others are."
Yes! Plaintive eyes met hers and she had to smile.
All right. Let's get you something to eat, then. She stood, then paused, but had to run to catch up with the green when the little darling bolted. "Ah! Wait!"
But I'm hungry mine!
"I know, I know, wait a moment...."
A little whine came from the green, but she slowed her pace, allowing Kaivani to catch up and politely recieve a bowl of meat. She barely had time to thank the drudge before the green had sunk her claws into Kai's robe and heaved herself up to try and see into the bowl.
"'ey! Easy there." Kai held the bowl under one arm- far from her dragonet- and then fixed her with a look. "Down."
Looking ashamed, the green did as she was told, and Kai nodded. "Better. Now, one question before I let you have all this food. What exactly is your name?"
The green looked at Kai like she was crazy. I am Ularyth, of course. May I have my food now?
Suddenly Kai felt as if she was the foolish one, feeling as if she had known the name all along. "Sure." She set the bowl down and watched Ularyth tear into the meat there with a fury. "Don't choke so soon after Hatching! I just resigned myself to staying here instead of going back to Harper Hall."
Kai was almost bowled over by the biggest puppy-dog look she'd ever before encountered, made all the worse by the pitiful whirling of Ularyth's eyes.
You wouldn't go back there now and leave me all alone, would you?
"No, of course not."
Could I have some more meat?
"Yes, hold on!" Kai quickly retrieved a second bowl to replace the first and watched as her little dragonet cheerfully went back to eating. For a moment she became confused, not sure why she was feeling so happy and smug, then it hit her.
Kai narrowed her eyes at her tricky little dragonet. "Oh, you are crafty."
The comment was apparently ignored in favor of food except for the increased smugness Kai felt afterwards. She sighed and smiled, gently stroking her dragonet's head. This was going to be an... interesting experience.
A third reached Rhiannon, I don't care about scratches, I want food, she told her newly-found rider.
Rhiannon grinned and knelt down to eye level with her darling, little green, giving her body a quick once over for any scratches that she had received from her clutchmates. There were a couple, minor ones that were dripping ichor; she'd have to get a weyrhealer to give the darling thing a check up...
My name is Koriyath. Koriyath replied, giving Hers a look of annoyance. I thought you knew that already. Look, I am fine! Can I just get something to eat? I am hungry!
Rhiannon chuckled and nodded to Koriyath. Your food awaits, m'lady green. This way. She waved her hand in a polite gesture towards the exit of the hatching sands, and off Koriyath went, her head held proudly. She heard Koriyath berate her on not following immediately, and off the girl went.
R'ign glanced around as the weyrlings finished feeding their dragonets. "Alright. If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask them along the way. For now, we'd best get these lumps of dragonhide to the barracks before they all fall asleep on us." She grinned and, turning, gestured for the group to lead the way.
((And off to the Weyrling Barracks!))
A'ra tried nudging Xanth awake, and when that didn't work, gave the green a hard shove.
What'd you do that for? A very sleepy Xanth asked, trying to drop her head down to sleep again.
Oh No, you don't. It's time to go to the barracks, and I'm not carrying you. Up, you go. There's a good one. A'ra coaxed Xanth to her feet, and followed along with the other to the weyrling barracks.
"Come on Freya... Natelin, or whatever you're calling yourself now. Let's get these little one's bedded down, so we can go enjoy ourselves!! I have a feeling it'll be the last chance we'll have to relax for awhile." Smileing A'ra went off to the barracks
Averith had finished eating about the same time that R'ign finished her talk with the new Weyrlings. V'ten grinned as he walked with one hand lightly resting on his blue's headknobs. Him, a Weyrling!! And with the best dragon on the sands, better even than that bronze!!
Next to him, Averith hummed in delight. Osseyth is OK, I suppose, the dragon said, but I will be better.
You already are,
the lad thought, thinking of how much easier it would be to feed, bathe, and oil the smaller dragon. But what he passed on to the blue was, Being smaller than he is, you'll be able to turn more easily in the air..... and won't be expected to fly one of those ever so bossy golds.
Are they really that bossy?? the blue wanted to know.
In reply, V'ten chuckled. You'll find out soon enough, my friend..... and will wish you hadn't!!
((*chuckles at Ryala* That's right! Blues are so much better!! wink ))
N'lin grinned. "It's N'lin now. And this here's Dartoloeth, though I've started calling him Tolo. Too long of a name, buddy." The boy grinned down at the brown.
I do not mind. I am too tired to mind.
N'lin grinned and nodded at Alira, or whatever she was going by now. "I think you're right. Though I won't mind..."
R'ign said something about a weyrling barracks... A'rai stood up and flashed a quick grin at Dilian. "I'll be right back. I need to show Rodinth his bed." I have a bed? Its in the Weyrlings' Barracks. You'll have to walk just a little ways to get there. After all, I can't carry you! The brown yawned, got to his feet, and butted his head against A'rai's leg. A'rai then sauntered - yes, sauntered - happily off to the barracks to settle Rodinth in. She had Impressed! That still hasn't sunk into your head?
---
B'ren yawned and rose to his feet, startling Osseyth into standing as well. Mine? What are we doing? Getting you to a bed so you aren't asleep out here. I don't think anyone would like having to carry you to your bed... ... Oh... I have a bed? B'ren grinned, and started off towards the barracks that R'ign said was around. "Yes, you have a bed," he said out loud, to make sure Osseyth heard. The bronze yawned and followed B'ren to the barracks.
