"wow.."was all i managed to say. after reading that, i almost felt like crying. not from sadness or worry, but joy. I wasn't sure what i was joyful about, all i could be sure that the feeling was infact, joy.
I flipped the letter over to find an old piece of parchment with a border made out of a series of photos. When i looked closer, i realised all the photos were of the same object: the Arcadian Orb. In each picture it had a different appearance, and yet i knew they were all the exact same one. The page read left to right 2 thirds of the way down, and the rest of the writing was unfamiliar. It read downwards and appeared to be written in ancient text.
'i'll look at that in a minute' i decided, and began to read the top of the page.
THE ARCADIAN ORB
Legend states that the orb was created by the hands of the fairies in order to seal away the souls of their bravest heroes. When carried with the owner, it brought them good luck and fortune as well as the departed's knowledge and guidance.
'like a guardian angel' I thought.
In other scripts, it is said to contain the memories of the elven gods, as well as their powers. It was then handed down in the royal family, as a way of guiding the king or queen's decisions in ruling their land.
However, there is one thing both legends share in common. This is, that the Orb would change it's appearance, not only to show it's condition but also depending on the person who was taking care of it. It is also said that you must be of either royal blood or have magic flowing through you to be able to activate the orb, otherwise it remains a black-charcoal colour. dead and still as a rock. There it lies in wait, for it's next owner to come.
After this, the rest of the script became the ancient looking one, which I couldn't understand. I squinted at the letters. they looked.....familiar. I tried to look closer...there! i.....had it for a second...i was sure. how could i loose it already? i need to keep concentration.....there it was again! but this time......the letters shimmered in the light. they looked like they were peeling at the edges....ready to float off the page....
*swish*
i.....
"EVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Harmony sobbed.
I immediately dropped the paper and turned on the spot.

Rachel was amazed by the letter, it was imformation on the arcadian orb. Rachel's mind began to wander, what was her item's power and what was the arrow for. Rachel noticed the sun was begining to set, soon she will be human again. then she herad Harmony sob for Evy, she turned around to see what was wrong. as she looked to where Harmony was looking she saw a large demon. i was a reed fox with 9 tails, it was huge! 5 times the size of rachel, twice the size of the Chimera. its eyes fell apon Evy. rachel snorted at the fox demon. its verly large sharp teeth shined in the sunsets light. if rachel turned back now she would not be able to protect Evy and Harmony. rachel reared and swung her horn wildly in the air. she then leaped forward and charged at the fox with her horn. her horn glowed blue and green. when her horn pierced the red fur of the fox sea water flooded over his body, the fox demon was a fire element so water would help a lot. the deomn shrieked in pain. it swung it's body and used it's tails like whips. rachel was flung off the demon. the 9 tails flicked everywhere. it was angry.

I spun around on the spot, immediately grabbing Harmony and hiding her behind my back. Then i saw it- a demon. I hadn't seen one since that dreadful day many years ago and seeing one again made me feel sick deep in my stomache. We watched on helpessly as Rachel attacked the demon with her horn. I watched as rachel was flung to the ground and i gasped. I couldn't just stand there and let her get hurt. I searched frantically and found a stone about as large as my palm lying nearby. I ran to get it and promptly threw it at the demons head. "HAH! MAYBE THAT WILL KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO YOUR SKULL, YOU STUPID UGLY....DEMON!" I spat. Immediately after i said this, i mentally slapped myself. What was i saying? was i TRYING to get myself killed? most likely? yes. But i couldn't just sit back and watch. I slowly backed away as the demon scraped at the ground, its long tails flicking this way and that. It could undoubtedly kill me in just one flick of one of it's long tails.
"Harmony, don't come any closer."

Rachel looked up, she saw that the demon was about to charge at Evy. rache stood up and ran as fast as she could, the deomn sprang forward to wards Evy and Harmony. rachel galloped and got there just intime, she flicked harmony and Evy onto her back and got them out of there just as the teeth clamped shut just behind her flowing white tail. she could smell its fowl breath, it was enough to make someone puke. rachel stooped infront of the statue rachel could feel her body changing back, the sun had almost fully set. 'now what', Rachel thought she forgot that Evy and Harmony were on her back reading her thoughts. the demon flexed its long legs, now knowing that it had missed its prey it was ready to strike again.

I hung on tight, one hand holding onto Harmony, trying to help her stay balanced 'come on, we are riding bareback!' and the other hand was holding onto unicorn rachel's back. We made it back to the statue and i heard rachel think 'now what?' rachel had run out of ideas! 'think, think!' i told myself. i slowly let go of the hand that was holding onto rachel and used it to pull my shoulder bag in front of me. i searched frantically, 'not my sketchbook, pencils, rubber.....paper......'"here!" i shouted the last bit out as my hand shut tightly around the object. i pulled Harmony with me as i felt rachel changing back. :jump!" i told her.

she felt Evy and harmony jump off her back, the sun set darkness swept over the land. as soon as the darkness touched rachel she glowed grrena dn transformed back to a human, but this time it was different. instead o just having a horn Rache now has two white unicorn ears and a flowing white tail. rachel stood there infront of the statue," i am back! yes!!"
the demon let out a loud roar. rachel turned around it was right behind her. rachel's eyes shrank in fear," oh crap!"
rachel tumbled out of the way as the jaws clamped shut for the second time. this was going to be hard as rachel stood up on of the nine tails tripped her over. she lent on her knees, where were evy and harmony. they were near her a second ago...what if the demon had, no don't think that. they are safe, rachel thought. she stood back up rachel's pocket began to glow a redy orange,"what is happening?"
rachel pulled out the arrow. it was glowing then burst into flames. the flames did not hurt Rachel the flames mesmorised rachel and she lost control of her body. her other hand reached down and pulled one white hair from he tail she held it near the arrow. the strand shoned silver and created a bow, rachel positioned the arrow and aimed for the demon's heart. she pulled back on the string and let go. the arrow flew through the air and pierced the demon through the skin. it hit the demon in the heart, but it was still living. Rachel then noticed a mark between the demons eyes, it was faint but still there. it was a swirl with a triangle attached to the front. rachel shouted," it's weak spot is the symbol between it's eyes!"
the bow disappeared and rache gained control again. she fell to her knees," what happened?"
the deomn was shrieking in pain, its tails hit the trees and smashed them into little splinters.

Holding the smooth object in my hand, i held it in front of me and shut my eyes tightly...i could hear the sound of bells tinkling...or maybe like a windchime on a breezy day.... "SHRIEK!" i opened my eyes and say that the orb was glowing brightly...'focus' i tried to focus my energy on the orb. POSITIVE good, strong energy. the orb flashed out brightly. "i want to help my friends." i told myself. -help!- a voice said happily, repeating my thoughts. but, it was a voice in my head, one i heard back in my room with the meerkats... "SHRIEK" the light coming from the orb appeared to be stinging the demon, like acid. "RACHEL!!!! can you use your arrow again, and aim for it's head? do you have enough strength?"

Harmony silently sat down next to me. i felt tired now, like the orb had been keeping me standing. i stared at it for a moment before shoving it back into my shoulder bag. i heard a small rumble coming from the sky, and as i looked up, it began to rain. *achoo*"i always sneeze when it rains" Harmony whined. i couldn't help but smile. "c'mon, let's help rachel and get under some shelter."

Rachel felt the rain fall upon her. it was refreshing. she looked and heard harmony sneeze. Evy and Harmony got up and came to Rachel. rachel tried to get up. the ground was now softer and muddy. she slipped again and landed in the mud. Rachel mumbled," stupid mud...."
this time she used her arms to push herself up. she lent back like in a cat strech and sat back onto her knees. the rain began to fall harder. rachel looked around for some shelter. the trees near the statue joined together and made a shelter enough for 5 people, or a picnic. Rachel crwled towards the statue. the transformation had taken alot out of her and the arrow was hard to use. she said," evy there is shelter over here. Harmony will get a bad cold in this weather."
Rachel dragged herself to the edge of the shelter and lent back against the trees," come and sit down."
Rachel smiled and shut her eyes. she liked listening to the rain fall upon the leaves. it was relaxing.

Harmony and i both joined rachel, sitting under the shelter of these large trees. it was like mother nature was protecting us, even when we didn't know it.
I reached into my shoulder bag and pulled out my poncho, which had been used for keeping the orb unharmed before. i pulled it out and wrapped it around Harmony, who was already sniffing a little, the second symptom of a cold; the first being sneezes.
At least we were under a good shelter now. "are you okay, rachel? i wish i had a blanket with me...." i said. that way, she could try to sleep a little or something. Instead, i gathered the remaining food i had left from our journey and handed a piece of bread to everyone, as well as some chocolate biscuits and crackers. "eat up, it will give you strength" i told them.

I was about to answer "well..." until Harmony tugged on my arm and whispered with a moutful of biscuit, "Evy...she's asleep." "oh, ok. maybe you should get some rest too, Harmony" i said. "naw, *yawn*" Harmony said in between a yawn. "i'm......fine... yawn*" she leaned her head on my lap and after a few minutes, i could hear her snoring softly. 'now it's my job to watch over everyone' i told myself, watching as the rain poured down, slightly less heavy then before. it was such a soothing sound. mother nature was looking after the world, just like i was looking after my friends. i watched the sky and began to hum a soft tune. ~~~~~~~Rain Rain Rain,

Rachel stirred in her sleep. in her dream she was floating in deep blue water. the water gently floated Rachel towards a coral reef. when rachel got closer to the coral it changed to a forest in the sky.....pritty wierd. then Rachel woke up. she saw that Harmony was asleep on evy's lap and Evy was singing." your a good singer Evy. biggrin "

Rachel stirred in her sleep. in her dream she was floating in deep blue water. the water gently floated Rachel towards a coral reef. when rachel got closer to the coral it changed to a forest in the sky.....pritty wierd. then Rachel woke up. she saw that Harmony was asleep on evy's lap and Evy was singing." your a good singer Evy. biggrin " (ty, i bet you may have heard it before, you never know..its by someone called Anoop Lokkur)) I felt my face heat up. 'she heard me sing...' "ahhh..thanks." i replied. Harmony picked that moment to talk in her sleep, "d..Dragon...DRAGON!!! no...i wanna icecream cookie sandwhich with a BUG! eat the ...eat the ...bug....." she uttered the last word before falling silent again. i stroked her head and almost felt like laughin. she could be so funny at the weirdest of times.
