RuiZhi grinned widely, his cheeks touched with a bit of a blush. He was glad he had done well and that Herei had praised him thusly.

As Herei started to speak with his rushed excitement, RuiZhi could only catch a few words; even so, he laughed, shaking his head in an apology. There was no way he could keep up with the man when he was so animated. He hoped his own enthusiasm would bring him to the caliber that Herei was.

RuiZhi inclined his head quietly when Herei mentioned the difficulty of being a doctor. The boy had known that it would be an uphill battle to be worthy of such a title, and he was ready to accept the hardships that it would come with. RuiZhi blinked at the squinty-eyed Herei, still unable to stop himself from grinning at how quickly the man's emotions seemed to leap and bound. He was also quite surprised that he was following along with the conversation, but the words the man was using were not difficult to understand, thankfully. RuiZhi managed to utter an indignant, "I know," before there was a finger nearly under his nose, pointing at something or...someone?

The boy could barely make out the fair-haired individual that Herei pointed out. He didn't understand exactly what Herei had said, but he'd caught enough keywords to know the man in question was important (as well as the fact that he was a man and not a woman, which the boy could not distinguish at this distance). "He is a teacher?" RuiZhi asked, still speaking English. "What is his name?" Then, almost as an after thought, he questioned the man, "Are YOU a teacher, Mr. Herei?"

"Well, if you are so interested in the doctor there, why don't you go up to him sometimes and ask?" Herei retracted his finger, and adjusted his clothing a little, while eyes still focused on RuiZhi, full of playfulness and...mysteriousness? Herei loved to lure people with secrets. And that was the exact reason why he got his fellow officer so mad at him back in China because Herei didn't tell him that he was a man...in a woman's dress. It still made Herei laugh, thinking about that guy's dumb but cute expression of shock. Herei was in and out of himself, a trickester, and he actually felt a little sorry for the boy in front of him...for him to conceal Lorioth's name like that. Well, the truth was easy to obtain, Herei thought, so that wasn't too much of a trick.

Now, the most interesting trick would be concealing who he really was. Herei laughed to himself, and smiled at RuiZhi. "I don't...really teach." He tilted his head intentionally so his eye level was lower than that of RuiZhi's. "You can say I'm a...janitor of sorts. Taking care of the school so that it doesn't get out of control."

"I will," RuiZhi agreed, "but I am talking with you first." His pleasant smile faltered in the face of Herei's playful and mystical gaze, the boy's lips turning into an "O" of amazement. He HAD to know how Herei could display so much, yet give away so little in such a simple glance! He suddenly remembered the doctor's visage from his home, how his face had given nothing away but his icy stare had spoken volumes...

RuiZhi looked at Herei, his boyish face full of wonder and admiration. Whether he realized that Herei was avoiding the questions about the fair-haired man or not, he didn't say. He was so very charmed by Herei's display of motion and words that RuiZhi couldn't really tell if he was missing anything.

The boy squinted in thought. A...janitor of sorts? What the heck was a janitor? No, that didn't sound right. Herei was describing something, something that he remembered. "Oh!" He brightened, suddenly remembering. "You're a..." He snapped his fingers, pursing his lips in thought. "A peacekeeper!" RuiZhi smiled triumphantly, proud that he had remembered such an awkward and mouthy word. His sister had said that was what she was, and had gone through an arduous attempt of explaining what it meant. He had learned quite a few new words from that discussion. It was the least he could do to repeat the title.

RuiZhi's words left Herei staring, blinking, and with his mouth half open. Then, as if something hit him, Herei started laughing, showing his set of white and even teeth. Still chuckling, Herei turned the chair around and sat on it as if he was sitting on a horse, he then wrapped his arms around the back of the chair, and laid his chin in between them. His smile had not faded, and he was now looking at RuiZhi with a charming and innocent look of wonder, as if he was at the same age as the boy.

Herei nodded, tilting his head back and forth. "Well....I guess you can say that. And believe it or not, the teachers here are harder to keep peace than the students." Herei rolled his eyes and continued. "Sometimes I wonder about their age. They seem to be so immature! But at least they are a group of pleasant people to be with. You know what they say...there's always something strange about a genius that makes him different than normal people." A pause, and then, "And by genius, I mean people who are very very smart."

Of course, Herei wasn't sure if there was really a saying like what he said, but it made sense to him...that is, he was probably saying that more for himself than anyone else.

RuiZhi was starting to wonder how much of Herei's charm he could handle before he melted. The boy sighed wistfully. It did not strike him as odd that he was so enraptured by the man he had just met; quite the opposite, he felt very comfortable and...familiar with Herei.

The boy smiled at Herei's laughter, wondering what he had said to strike such a chord with the man. RuiZhi was only getting part of the conversation, but the words he was missing filled themselves in with the direction of the conversation. He remembered his sister using the word 'genius' for another boy, and a woman that she ahd met, but it helped that Herei used it in context. It made more sense that way.

"I think that's called...un-nursery drama?" RuiZhi crinkled his nose, not quite remembering the exact wording. He had no idea that his bastardized version of the word he was seeking was in fact a real word. His English was a little bit better now, not so halting or uncertain. He was having a discussion, and although he wasn't thinking about the lack of effort, it was helping. "Un...nerving drama?" RuiZhi huffed, thinking on the word and how his sister had used it. "When people create problems for the reason of having it?"

RuiZhi grimanced and spread his hands in an unspoken apology for his bumbled words.

Herei guestured to RuiZhi that he could care less for the big words the boy was struggling to come up with. "English is a strange language, you know why? Because more than half of the words that are created, we don't even use them! So don't sweat it, you'll do fine." Herei reached out and put his hand on RuiZhi's hat and patted it. His smile was more sincere and gentle now. "You are an interesting little fellow. I have no doubt that other people will like you, RuiZhi."

And with that Herei suddenly stood up and turned the chair back into its organized and original position. He then turned to RuiZhi and lend out his hand. "Come on, let's go up to the front and meet with some new people! I'm sure it will be so much more exciting than us just sitting here pointing fingers at other people."

"Y-yes, my sister says much of the same. All those words and no one can speak the language." RuiZhi didn't quite get it, but he figured his sister would elaborate when she felt up for it. He also made sure not to add the other words his sister often tacked onto the end of such sentences; something about them being curse words and being offensive, and to do as she said and not as she did, or something.

The boy turned a light shade of red when Herei patted his head. He offered another cheeky grin at the praise from the man, rubbing hise nose in embarrassment. "Mr. Herei is too kind," he mumbled through his blush.

RuiZhi's grin turned into a fish-like gape when the man suggested they go meet other people. He was so unpredictable! Pointing out people and keeping their identity a mystery, and now taking off to talk to people who, the boy assumed, had nothing to do with the previous conversation. The boy look shyly at Herei's hand, before extending his own sleeved one to accept it, standing in a far more graceful manner than when they had first met. "If it pleases you," he murmured, still somewhat dazed from the compliments. "I will do my best."

Herei nodded, and looked at RuiZhi with a degree of pride as if the boy was his own relative, moving off to a successful new pathway. He gave RuiZhi a thumbs-up, and winked.

"Zhu ni hao yun (good luck)!" Herei said, and turned to lead the boy in the direction of where most people had gathered. When they reached a place where there was a crowd, Herei made himself silently disappear within the people, leaving RuiZhi alone so he could talk his way out of the "trap" Herei had set the boy in.

Tricky tricky. Herei smiled to himself. He'll be watching the boy from afar...from now.

Elijah smiled enthusiastically toward Jaden, glad over the display all the same. It impressed him that the young man knew any elven at all, so naturally he didn't care for the criticism Dante had given Jaden and he knew that would only further his ability. "I think so too. You'll certainly be ahead of the rest of us in classes with that ability. You did great," he said in a mellow tone. Just like Zach, he wanted as well to learn the language and knew eventually he would have the chance.

((Mwahah. I'm stealing RuiZhi!))

"They pointed at you!"

"No they didn't."

The argument was placated on one side, more frenzied on the other as Lorioth kept a rather careful eye on the asian boy. Just where was Herei leading him, and look... was he disappearing, again? How inconsiderate to leave a shy boy alone in such a crowd. After all, look at him.

Even he stuck to Javelin, using her as a (not so good) shield. It was being a dismal failure at keeping himself unnoticed with all the waving around she was doing, but it was a start.

Besides.

If it wasn't for her, he might have had to try to actually talk to a stranger.

Ugh.

But the boy was curious looking-- it wasn't often he saw someone in such formal posture. And before he could stop himself, he allowed the blonde professor to half drag, half molest him towards the asian boy.

"Before someone else claims him-- and so the head master can say we actually did our job." Javelin responded confidently. "Hey, after we meet him though-- can we go for some drinks? I think a bottle of wine would be a good start, keep me awake for the rest of the thing."

"A bottle?" was Lorioth's distracted answer, and then it was lost when Javelin promptly shoved herself into the field of the boy's vision and exclaimed brightly.

"Your hair! It's pretty. But don't let Herei convince you to do something wierd with it, okay? The pretty boy can be quite a dress sometimes."

Oh, dear.

"Javelin." Lorioth responded weakly, and stopped.

Oh, dear.

RuiZhi blinked at the pretty and enthusiastic woman. Were all the teachers like this? The boy's expression spread into a warm, receptive grin at the mention of his hair. While he didn't grasp what she meant by a dress, he bowed slightly to the woman anyway. "Thank you," he exclaimed, pleased, "I promise to keep it whole." Not that his sister would let him cut it anyway...she'd explode.

He looked over to the fair-haired man. RuiZhi suddenly felt small in his robe, surrounded by so many people. Sticking out his chin, he tried his best to be presentable to the man who was so important on the path to being a doctor. "My name is RuiZhi Tai. Mr. Herei--" the boy glanced behind himself, just noticing that the man had left him, "--said I should ask your name, since I dream to be a doctor." Were those the right words...? Ah, first impressions were so scary! He was torn between confusion at Herei's amazing disappearance and awe at facing two pretty people.

"Your so cute! Like a little puppy. Can I call you puppy?" Javelin crooned, delighting in the fact that for the first time, someone actually seemed to almost respect the little mouse of a doctor.

Wait a minute...maybe a lot of people did generally, and she was just oblivious to the fact. Yeah, that was probably it.

Lorioth seemed to blush, a color that touched his cheeks, his forehead and his eyes as he looked over almost as shyly. RuiZhi Tai? Unable to determine if he would be able to pronounce the words the way the student had, he paused for a moment, trying to get his tongue around the words...

and failed. For now. If he could memorize long, complex names of animals, plants and chemicals-- what was a foreign name?

"It is nice to meet you." he responded, somewhat warm as he felt his eyes soften. Another doctor? "Then you did right to come here." and Herei had done something right after all. Not that he wasn't right.. just sometimes inappropriate about it.

"Herei did something right without doing anything wierd!" Javelin exclaimed, completely ignoring that she was probably a worse example than the other man.

Lorioth shook his head. "My name is Lorioth Manneth." he introduced, and nodding his head, he paused. "This is..."

"You can call me big sister you little doll! A doll! Thats what you remind me of." she interrupted.

Lorioth winced.

"Javelin Lovinghal, one of the professors."

RuiZhi had the grace to look a embarrassed. "A...pu...poo-pay? I'm afraid my English isn't the best. I don't know that word. B-but if it pleases you, I don't mind."

He turned his brown gaze to the now blushing man, wondering if he'd said something wrong or inappropriate. The boy was a little bewildered by the woman's exclamation about Herei. The Chinese man had been nothing but wonderful to him, even going so far as to scoot him to...to...

"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lorioth Manneth, Big Sister Professor Javelin Lovinghal." What names! Lorioth's name sounded like 'low-he-oth,' and Javelin's came out 'yah-vee-lin lew-vein-hall.' Those were going to take some time to get his head wrapped around.

Jaden laughed softly, fingers combing through pale hair as he glanced sheepishly at the other two boys. "Thanks, guys...I really want to do well here, it's the sort of thing I've always wanted to do, after all." It rather seemed that they were done with that, any further conversation with the elves would be somewhat pointless now.

"So...are we all magic students?" The blond tilted his head as he watched Zach and Elijah. "Because if we are we can all head over and find out where our rooms are." Of course, even if they weren't they would walk each other there...so that way if they got lost it would be less embarrassing for them to all do it together. Mind you, Jaden thought his sense of direction was better than that...and they had given him directions at one point.

His... his accent! Javelin let out a slight squeal as she leaned towards RuiZhi, seeing not a boy or a student, but a toy to play with. "Say my name again? It's ADORABLE! I can teach you how to speak properly, if your English isn't good. I can be your tutor!"

Lorioth slid a glance towards her and recognized that chaotic gleam in her eyes. Yeah. Like any staff member would ever let that happen. Javelin was a great teacher, but as a tutor? Dear gods. with the freedom of playing with her... 'playthings?'

"You can call me doctor." he responded, quickly trying to cut in to create some damage control-- and because he was interested. "A doctor?" he knew something of China, and what had happened-- but not enough yet, and certainly not enough to make any assumptions.

Gently taking a step to stand in between the crazy woman and the victim, he smiled. "If you have any questions, anything you want to talk about... you can come visit me."

"And me too, dollface!" Javelin cooed. Oh, yes! She would have lots of fun with this one. Talking to him, teaching him 'english' words, and braiding that hair....
