John.D.W. [ Admiral Woody ] What? She thought they were sell outs, so that means that she must've known something about them to base that on. After all, she said that their old stuff was good. I mean, Panic! At the Disco are one of the most terrible bands I've ever laid my ears on, and System haven't sold out, but you still don't have any right to tell her shut up for voicing her opinions. That's the sort of thing System stands against. And what's more, you claim that if someone thinks, even slightly, that System have gone corporate, then they shouldn't be here. Which is utter bullshit. Someone can like a band that they also think is a bit corporate, and if someone likes System, reguardless of how corporate they think they've become, they have the right to be here. It's a System fan guild, isn't it? I think I speak my mind too much. And I think i come off in a diffrent light then what i actually mean. I love a lot of diffrent music, and i think people SHOULD speak there mind, but this person had never really listened to them to understand what they are. I mean you have to admit that SOAD arent sell outs correct? People can like any music they like...I like SPice Girls for gods sake!!! But the thing is she was comaparing them to a band that sounds like most of the new bands lately. Did you read what one freaking post?!?!!! And the thing about thinking that they are corporate they arent. Listen to them and then 5 other bands (motr recent) and see who sounds alike. Im going shut the hell up now before i get my head bitten off again. Have a nice freaking day! I still don't understand how you know what System she's heard. And it's true that alot of people liked their older stuff, but wasn't so inclined towards their more recent album. And when a band changes, some people's first reaction if they don't like the new sound is to play the "Sold out!" card. Chances are she didn't mean anything by it. And really, the only thing she was comparing System and Panic! on was how corporate they are, which is perfectly valid - any band, reguardless of sound or social standing, can be considered sell-outs. So I still really think you should've cut her some slack.

It's a System fan guild, isn't it? I agree with you, but I can't stand when people just get this thing in their heads about "System of a Down sucks" and don't give them a chance. I was talking to this person the other day and he asked me who my favorite band was, obviously I said System of a Down, but he right away said "annoying pieces of s**t", that got me angry, but I asked why and whatnot. He said he can't stand the vocals, which is what got me to like them, but I let him have his opinion until he found out I didn't like his favorite band, My Chemical Romance. He wanted me to like them, so he sent me his favorite song, I answered truthfully..."I like the music, it's funky guitar, but I'm sorry I just didn't like that song". I asked him to do the same for System of a Down and he refused. I want people to have their own opinions, but when it comes to single-minded people, I get mad. People need to have open-minds especially when they want you to do the same for them. For him to get you to give his band a chance, but then turn around and not do the same to you is a really stupid double standard. I totally agree with you on this one, people can like what they want and hate what they want, but if they want to change my opinion without giving me the chance to change theirs, they simply aren't worth the effort. Plus, I saw MCR live at The Big Day Out the other weekend, and the lead singer was a real wanker. He couldn't stop hyping the band inbetween songs, and he had a really whiney nasal voice.

I barely said anything to her !!! You OBVIOUSLY dont know who i am or the type of person I am cause to be truthful i would NEVER give some girl a beat down for saying a BAND was a bunch of sell outs. I get the girl has her opinion and i RESPECT THAT!!!!!!! But listen (or read) what im saying!!!!!! I just said something like "No not really" Or something along the lines. I may picture like smacking this girl upside the head but i really wouldnt do that. C'mon!!!!!!! Im a fairly laid back person, but when someone insults a band that sounds NOTHING!! like other bands cares about more then JUST the music (Look at screamers and the content of 60% of their music or maybe more). And then compare them to another band that sounds like most of the bands that are popular today....like Fall Out Boy..... yeah some of their stuff is alright...but still!!! Put your self in my place.....take something you really like.....does have to be a band ANYTHING. then imagine someone saying that it sucked, and compare it to somehting so common, something you may no particuarly like....and picture how you feel. Yeah it may be her opinion and it may be a band, and i respect that...but still, she doesnt really know much about SOAD she probably only heard what was on the radio. Clearly you're not stupid enough to commit assault based on someone's music taste, but that's still way too harsh. Also, you repeat that I should listen to what you're saying. I am. You, on the other hand, have failed to realise that I said she might've been comparing the two bands on reasonable grounds, I at no point said that you actually bit her head off, and heaps of other assumptions that you've made which could have been easily avoided if you had gave what I said a little thought. My mental idea of you is only based what you've told me. If you're such a laid-back person, don't tell me anything that would lead me to think otherwise. Simple.

We talk trash about Avril Lavigne. So, Avril fans may not be present in this guild, but people will talk trash about anything regardless of fans being present. Emo bands get a lot of s**t, too. Present! and i like P!ATD and MCR. but i dont really care. people have their opinions and ive learned to accept that [especially since I started liking SOAD...ive found that there are a lot of people on both sides of the spectrum]. u can't make this girl change her mind, w/e. thats her decision if she cant find the same pleasure we do in this awesome band. we're a very opinionated and defensive group and i see that it can cause friction... ps. even tho i am an Avril fan i DONOT like her Chop Suey cover...its terrible.

Well... people are different. In her mind and her way of thinking, they ARE comparable. Just like in your mind and your opinion, they're not.
In debates like this there isn't really a right or wrong, because it all depends on opinions. It's very much a 'live and let live' kinda deal.
Washuuuu... I don't believe the UK hates emo music, I've seen a lot of scene kids around, and emo band tours always sell out over here.
It's pretty must just like any other country, some love it, others hate it. *shrug*
Ha, would you be talking about the bottling incident with the P!ATD frontman?
Personally I think it's disgusting that people would do that to any band... but I did think it was hilarious. ninja
