Growls a bit lowly in disgust of this mans words. The hipocracy of it all made him sick to his scalie stomach. He looks at Xeen a moment and wondered if Xeen was truely believing all of these words. Because in himself he had a tiny bit of doubt about it all then just turning his gaze back to McKinnly and kept his toughts out for the time being.

Xeen Soldevi Xeen turned to McKinnly, rage building in him, rage aimed at the little man on the ground. "Why did you kill Erica?" "Why not?" Mckinnly glanced up at Soltari, "she was a liability, she was useless, and she was in the way of aquiring your little girl, who has become a mighty curiosity well worth the chance of researching. And also, it would make you angry. So once again, Soltari, why not?"

At this point, A.C. was ready to act. In fact, she almost did make a move--to help McKinnly. Monsterous serpant he might be, but he was still a founder of the City, and she'd been taught to love him.
This is what stopped her: It couldn't possibly be him. He didn't have powers, no founder did, because that was the Enemy. Pure Energy couldn't come from the Enemy, because there just weren't enough of them to suck energy out of, even if you could do it like mimics. And A.C. had seen Enemies die--if they were killed in the streets like that whenever they showed their true natures, how could anyone get energy from them? Wouldn't they have to be captured? And, above all, none of the Six would ever turn on each other or send someone to kill them. It was the cooperation and mutual genius of all six that sourced the harmony of the City, and for that to break apart would mean The End. She had learned that in the second grade.
What was down there--all that was down there, in the center of the room--was the Enemy. She didn't really get what they were talking about, but she didn't have to. There was an Enemy impersonating McKinnly, two or three more that believed the hoax, and the only one in danger here was the girl. Although, at least one of the Enemy down there was protecting her, so maybe she wasn't really in danger. A.C. let out a silent sigh of relief. (She didn't consider the fake councilman to be in danger because she figured he deserved it for impersonating a great public figure.)
As she relaxed to watch events unfold and hopefully the doors open, the glamour regained its strength and fully covered A.C. again.

You know she's done when it beeps, that's when you take her out and shoot her. After having a bit of fun of course."

The grin grew wider, and more wild, as he followed up the first punch with a second.

And now, I plan on putting you in the contaniner. However, you will lack the certain luxury that my wife had of being killed by you. No, James, you will live forever, encased in time. And you will stay that way for as long as I live."
