"Mhm," he said gently, pointing out one particular bit on the flyer, "It would be a chance for us, and a good one; it's a masquerade. We can't stay holed up here forever, all by ourselves."

Clayr sat back and crossed her arms over her chest, pouting a little. She, boviously, thought they could do just that.

"Well...a masquerade does sound fun." He had never been to one before but had heard of others talk about them. They could be very fun and mysterious...and the thought of wearing an elaborate mask made Orrin smile. When he glanced back to Clayr, he was sure she wasn't too happy. "You wouldn't want to get all dressed up and dance around with a pretty mask?," he asked her. "If you don't have something already, I could probably sew you up a fansy dress and matching mask. I'd make it just the way you wanted."

As Orrin talked, Clayr's face started to cave a little, and she looked more and more responsive to the idea. But the fear of the crowd, especially as huge as one for this party was likely going to be, was prominent in her eyes.

Finally, with a soft sigh, she nodded in the affirmative. Her mouth was set in a hard line, as if she were already steeling herself for the event, but she still looked happy and excited.

Crow smiled, warmly, with more than a hint of surprise. He'd expected at least a few days more of trying to convince Clayr to go, and look at this. He settled back in his chair with a pleasant, knowing look and picked up his book again.
"So it's settled then. We have plenty of time to get ready still, so you two will have plenty of time to come up with something lovely. I'll help, of course, if you can thin of anythign I can do. Besides p***k myself with the needle and bleed all over everything,"

Orrin smiled widely then moved over to give Clayr a big hug. He didn't know exactly why she didn't want to go but was glad he had changed her mind. "You'll be stunning, I'll make sure of it. I mean, not that you aren't already... but I'll make you to prettiest dress..ever!" He then looked to Crow and laughed a bit from his comment. "I've done that a few times but mother told me it was the best way to learn."

Clayr blinked in surprise, and met Crow's eyes over Orrin's shoulder. She blushed at the knowing look in his eyes and hugged Orrin back, sighing softly.

"I'll save my learning for sometime when it won't ruin something beautiful," he grinned brightly, "So, what do you think? Should we have costume-costumes, or just look gorgeous?"

Orrin stayed next to Clayr after the hug, missing her blush as he looked up to Crow. "Both?" He laughed a little but liked the idea. "I like dressing up in costumes. They're fun especially if they're really elaborate. I just wouldn't know what to dress myself as if we went with that." So long as it wasn't something along the lines of 'Santa's helper', he'd be fine.

After Orrin shifted away, she still stayed tilted over, resting her head on his shoulder and listened to them talking. It had started to get dark and the rain had stopped, leaving the house oddly quiet, but not unnervingly so..

Crow grinned, imagining a play on his own name, and a set of ebony wings.
"It's settled, then. We can get started tomorow, though, looks like we're about to lose one."
He smiled, reaching out to push a few stray hair out of Clayr's eyes.
"You all right? Not getting sick, are you?"

Clayr shook her head adamantly, and yawned theatrically, more from demonstration tha need.

Orrin had pet an arm around Clayr lightly just as a reaction. He never normally had anyone rest on his shoulder, much less a girl. His mind was on the costumes, though. He didn't really know what he wanted to make for himself. Orrin then glanced at Clayr just as she yawned. "I didn't wear you out making you look for me, did I?"

Clayr shook her head, and pointed out the window lightly at the rain.

"The rain's always worn her out," Crow said gently, smiling at her in a fond sort of way, "Sometimes I think she's more cat than girl. A little white kitten."

Orrin looked over at the window. He had liked the rain but right now it just seemed like it wouldn't stop. "Rain seems to be good for lazy days. I think snow is nicer, though. It's the best for curling up in front of the fire with a cup of hot cocoa."

"Aldous Richter," he admonished himself quietly, "You know you'd rather be enjoying a play right about now, what are you doing here?" But really, Aldous knew. After several months in the Underground he'd not only not made any acquaintences, he hadn't even seen someone like himself... Dead, or exactly like him, not-quite-dead.

Listening to his echoing footsteps, Aldous called into the darkness as he neared some stairs. "Hellooo~?"

Violette heard a voice while she was wandering around the house. She floated through a few floors to investigate and peeked curiously through one of the antique picture frames. The original picture was long gone but it provided a cute window to whoever was speaking. Unseen she went back up the stairs and formed a coporeal image of what she looked like in death without the nasty bloodstains. She walked down the steps and answered. Is someone there? Knowing full well someone was there but she had to keep up appearances in order not to scare anyone needlessly.

Not really expecting an answer, Aldous jumped but quickly recovered. Fixing his hat and jacket, he replied clearly. "I am." Rolling his eyes at himself, he spoke again, this time less vaguely. "My name is Aldous Richter, I'm in search of a companion."

After a bit longer talking, Clayr had nodded off, stretched out on the bed between Crow and Orrin. Crow had been chattering in his low, humming soft voice when he detected voices in the house. He slowed his stirng of talk, then stopped completely, tilting his head. He wasn't worried, really, he could keep off anyone there was to worry about, but most curious indeed. Since they arrived, they'd only had one intrusion (which had been taken care of easily), then Orrin had come to them. Other than that, he and Clayr were the only ones who'd been in the house for what seemed like ages ...
