"Nah, I want to," Sid said adamantly. "Friendship and all that, you know."
He was never quite as poetic verbally as what he wrote, but the same meaning got through. More or less.

"I can hang around who I damn well please," Sid said, smirking. "I know enough. You're good company, for one. It's not like I have to know your life story before I can make any judgements. And I know you don't wanna know mine cause it'd take too ******** long. Besides..." He started walking again. "That's all in the past."

"Who we were s'dead. Been dead since tha' fers' injection." Billy's expression had fallen onto the grave side, his eyes on the moving river.

"Yeah... There's just the here and now and... and what's coming. No sense crying over any of it."
Now if only Sid could stop himself from worrying so much.

The octopus was silent, mulling over negative thoughts that pulsated as much as his vice-like headache, but he was soon able to override them with the reoccuring creative thought, just as the jungle seemed to thin- they were getting close to the lake. "M'gonna start a theater. An' yer gonna write th' plays. Those dumb pidgeons'll do anythin' fer some entertainment, I'm sure. We'll split th'profits, how's tha' sound? Y'in?"

"Sure, man," Sid said. His own memory could always be worse. He was silent for a few paces. "I think I'm gonna stick around... least til sunrise. Or whenever my leg quits... whichever comes first."
It wasn't because he was afraid. Oh no, never that.

They broke the tree line and Billy was relieved to find an honest-to-goodness dirt path, his chair moving smoothly for the first time in what felt like hours. "Me place aint so... good fer guests. S'pose y'coul' sit in me chair... while I sat on me rock. Can use me pack f'y'want a pillow o' somethin'."

"I'll be fine..." Sid said. "I've slept in weirder positions."
Granted, that was back when he was much younger, but he wasn't thinking of how bad that could be now. All he knew was there was no way he was going back through the jungle alone and at night.

"Lovely lil' sleepover, eh?" He laughed, "S'jes' down this way," He was greatfull the land dipped downhill at that point, making this last stretching far more tolerable.

"It'll be a blast," Sid said dryly. The downward slope didn't help him much, he was just glad it would be over soon.

They arrived at Billy's courner of the lake, and he parked his chair on the grass and dirt befor dropping down to crawl his awkward way to the water. He woudl have felt more embarassed of the way he was forced to crawl had he not vegually been aware of the other things Sid had helped him with durring his period of being unhinged from the world. Once in the water, he moved a touch more gracefully as he wriggled and slithered to a comfortable spot amongst the stones to lean up against.

Sid, meanwhile, sank into Billy's abandoned wheelchair with a sigh of relief. It hurt to much for him to try and hide it. He stretched his legs out, ignoring the feet rests, and felt a little better to be off his feet. He would have felt much better if he was home, but that's what he got for overestimating himself. He'd feel better by morning, provided the bugs didn't eat him alive before that.

"Well, hope yer... comfortable..." He wrapped his various limbs around what he could to keep himself from drifting in the night, settling down in an awkward position amongst the rocks, "G'nigh' then."

"Night," Sid grunted. He stared at the water until exhaustion overshadowed the fact he really wasn't comfortable at all.
