Aislinn was settled comfortably on her couch. She'd been spending more time than she liked on it, but honestly, it was wearing to have to walk about with that bloody walker all the time. Her calluses had calusses...not that they'd been baby soft before given she was a woman who worked for a living, but still. It was nice to give her hands a bit of a break sometimes.
She stretched her arms and looked over at the phone. She'd been trying to get ahold of Shenzi for about a week, but it seemed their schedules just didn't coincide.
Still, she could give it one more try.
She picked up the receiver and punched in the numbers that would lead her to Shenzi's Duplex.

Shenzi was lying on her bed, stretched out on her stomach as it was painful to lay on her back, her stereo bleating loud music that she and her friends had composed. She was keeping her hands busy by braiding stray locks of wispy blue hair, making messy, unskilled corn rows down her scalp before unraveling them and starting over.
She was in the middle of one braid when she heard her phone ring, and she frowned in surprise. "Who would call me?" Shenzi asked herself, mumbling in czech, before picking it up with a "Hello?"

Aislinn grinned, "So you -are- still alive!" she laughed into the phone, "I was beginning to wonder. I've been trying to catch you in your duplex for the past week!"
She recognized the music in the background-- or at least, the song that was playing just now. It was on the CD Zee'd given her for Christmas. She really ought to have Brian listen to it, now she thought of it. It was good music.

Shenzi felt a grin pull her now mismatched lips wider as she recognized Aislinn's voice. "Heyo, Orangey. Yeah, alive, might as well be barely though." She said, making a face despite the fact that Aislinn couldn't see it.
She rolled over onto her back, a position she was used to being in when on the phone, when her ungainly "chicken wings" gave a painful reminder to their existance. Flopping back onto her belly, her tail trailing over the side of the bed, she reached an arm over to turn down the music. "So what've you been up to lately?"

Aislinn grinned, "I'd tell you, but I'd rather tell you in person," she said, playing absently with the hem of her incredibly long shirt. She'd taken to wearing shirts like that to cover the horrendous little hooves in her abdomen.
"You should come over. I'd head up there, but the stairs are ridiculous for me to even try."

Shenzi raised an eyebrow at her friend's admittance. Last she'd seen her, she was still capable of walking. Did she lose her legs or something?
With that sobering thought, Shenzi gave a small laugh. "Right-o, oh orange of my life." She said teasingly, before adding "I'll be over in maybe ten minutes." And hung up. She carefully put on a close fitting zip-up vest, which she had, as with most of her clothes, cut holes into the back for her wings. The damned things took a few minutes in of themselves to put through it... She threw on a knee length bright green skirt to go with the purple vest, ignoring her shoes as she had been for the past few months.
Shenzi knocked lightly on Aislinn's door ten minutes or so later, her hard shelled knuckles rapping louder then intended. But then, it was easier then tapping with her nails and leaving little scratch marks.

Aislinn got off the couch with minimal difficulty-- she'd had a lot of practice over the past month or so.
Quickly as she could, she employed the walker in getting herself over to the door and opening it, moving back so that Shenzi could get in...and then doing a double-take as she noticed her friend's appearance.
"...so it happened to you too, huh?" she asked.

Shenzi was about to rap again when the door opened, revealing Aislinn with a walker and a long shirt. It was the first time Shenzi'd seen her since she changed, so she had a better look this time. Horse from waist down, though she was missing two legs... Maybe to come? She thought, before grinning slightly, seeing how white her hair was now. "Lucky. Dye'll take well to that." At least the changes weren't effecting Aislinn's face, though.
She nodded to the question, an unneeded affirmative. "Uh-huh. Painful as hell, too." Shenzi said, giving the "chicken wings" an abusive glare. The beak on her upper lip and the feathers around her neck were painfully obvious, as she had forgotten to grab a scarf to cover them.

Aislinn nodded, "That's true. At least I won't have to bleach it anymore."
She'd pulled it up into some kind of crazy ponytail. It was the only way for her to deal with it being this long...and she'd learned by now that it was probably useless to try cutting it all off. After all, she'd shaved her legs and now had horse ones. Who knew what'd happen to her head if she cut her hair? And at least she still had the pretty face going for her.
Shenzi definitely didn't look quite as lucky. She wasn't even as lucky as Brian with his puppy-dog face. Instead she had beak and feathers and...well, horrendous looking wings. Perhaps she shouldn't be quite so ashamed about the tiny hooves on her own abdomen. At least she had the option of covering them up.
"I'd imagine." she moved back a bit more, motioning inside, "C'mon in!"

Shenzi grinned slightly, following her into the duplex. "So, how've you been lately, 'Linn? You never answered before." She said, waggling a yellow finger in mock-reproach. "Tsk tsk, shouldn't keep your friends, who are waiting on every word you say, waiting!"

Aislinn flushed a bit in excitement, letting herself settle back on the couch after she navigated her now considerable bulk around the rather small duplex, "I've been great, actually! You know Brian Grant, right? I think you mentioned that you've met him before."

Shenzi nodded, remembering when she had met Brian, with Gaius, when he'd changed. He had a nice face, and lucky for him, the change hadn't really uglified his facial features like the changes had other people. "Mm-hm. What about him, is he your booyyyfriieennd?" Shenzi asked, making a kissy face before laughing. It probably did not look pretty with the beak.

Aislinn grinned, "Well, we're dating. I don't know if I could call him that..." that seemed like a big step. It was so much more -serious- than any relationship she'd been in previously.
"Did you know he's turning into an African Wild Dog?"

Shenzi raised an eyebrow, giving her a thumbs up and a laugh. "Well, if you're dating, then he's your boyfriend, simple as that."
"And yeah, he started cackling when I first met him about how he was an african wild dog. Havn't seen him since then." She said with a small shrug.

Aislinn shook her head, "I don't know, though. Boyfriend is a pretty strong term for me, and it's still just tentative. This whole island situation is weird. Back home, I'll admit I probably wouldn't have looked at him twice, as I tend to pick out the shallower guys...but..I dunno. I guess I'm learning more about myself."
She pulled a pillow off the floor and cuddled it in her arms, "Hey, we need to start planning some kind of wild party for my birthday. It's ages away, but Brian brought it up last time we were talking and I want to do something fun. We can all get drunk and karaoke or something."
