She blinked and tried to focus, drawing fresh salty air into her lungs. Some deckhands were yelling, screaming, covering their ears. Superstition was rampant in sailors, and most of the time it was justified. At least in these parts it was. Suddenly one voice rose a little higher than the others - speaking to her. Elgardish - her language. 'What thoughts are yours? What liars travel such forbidden ways? NOOOO!' the voice rose into a shriek that made her double over, her feet finding the floor. She stumbled forward and fell to her knees, hands desperately clutched over her ears, breath coming in sharp gasps. No one else had heard it, the voice had spoken to her alone - screamed at only her.

Then as quickly as it had come, it was gone. The voices quieted, but she could still hear them, murmuring in the background. What devilry was this? Only then was she aware that someone else had spoken to her - a normal and kind voice. She quickly looked up, gasping and eyes wide. She swallowed and willed herself to calm, but did not dare rise on shaking legs. She couldn't stop trembling.

"I-I..." she looked up at Amir, trying to remember who he was. No recognition dawned. "Do you hear it?" she said in a hushed voice, trying to quell the fear. Somewhere on the deck Zeiser was commanding the crew... then a strange woman spoke - something about sirens. Sirens? She didn't reply.

The woman looked confuse at Lila's words. 'There's no point pursuing a matter she know nought about...' In that instant, the captain, Zeiser was his name if she recalled, was calling about all those who knew some sort of magic. She knew magic, sirens had magic infused in their bodies, making their voices deadly and she could control her voice.

She walked calmly through the crowd of the panicked crew to Zeiser. "I know magic. My name is Lila. I'm a Siren and I know magic infused with voices. "

Tanyeera saw the lights dim upon the ship and was puzzled. Had they done that last night for the crew to sleep? No, that didn't seem right, deckhands were active all the time, even at night though that would be in shifts.

She whistled a quick note of apology to Luft and swooped down to see what was going on. Hovering at about mast height, she called below "What's wrong?"

Again, she winced at how rough and harsh her voice was when attempting to speak human in this form.

"Rhiannon. are you alright? Are you ill?" Chrono asked, somehow finding himself kneeling beside her and Amir. "...It was the voices... wasn't it?"

"Rosette raced up to the deck, no on the captain words, but on her own worry for her friend up there. Chrono was never one to like confinded spaces, so it was mostly likely he'd be up on deck.

Rosette swatted her fly-away blonde hair out of her face and looked around. The people here up on deck were just a step away from total chaos. She spied Chrono kneeling beside someone... the Patroness?!

"C-Chrono,! What's going on here?!"

Word started to spread like wild-fire that some of the rooms had writings written in blood. No one could recognize the language so they thought it was some sort of dead or demonic language. In actuallity, it was utter gibberish. All this time he was sitting in the private he had found where basically nobody goes to. The sailors must be so freaked out that the captain would probably have a hard time getting them to sail to the next port. Then his mission would be complete and he would be able to go home and get back to the work he actually wanted to do.

Amir nodded, offering a hand to the woman, Rhiannon. He held up his other hand in a motion for quiet. In the background, the captain was rounding up the chaos, trying to keep a cap on the brimming terror that most of the deckhands would feel. Indeed, if Amir were any less frustrated and worried about any ill effects the strange whispers would have on the crew, he would have been racing for the nearest safe haven.
“Chrono, is it?” He asked the other man kneeling beside Rhiannon. “I need you to get the pack that’s in my hammock, over there.” At the blank look Amir received, he quickly elaborated. “There’s a bottle of soothing wine in there, and its closer than the kitchens.”
Amir returned his attention to Rhiannon. “Yes, I heard them. Do you need to go down below deck?”

Tanyeera realised no one was going to pay attention to her as high up as she was. She was torn between her duty as sentry to watch for danger at sea, and her duty as sentry to watch for danger aboard the ship.

Finally, she glanced upwards at her wing-sister and mentally called to her "Luft! Keep watching for danger above! I'll see what's going on down here and let you know."

She sharply contracted herself into human form and slammed on the deck fully human. She bounced a bit from the impact and was grateful her human form was so much more durable than normal humans.

As soon as she got up, she started to hear the muttering. It was soft but inisistent, and it sounded like gibberish. With a shock, she realised some of the words were in Draconic. And not only Common Draconic, it was also speaking a few words of her own clan-dialect!

It was a mixture of many different languages and the few words she caught and understood made absolutely no sense. She cast about searching for the source of the odd mutterings, not only with her ears, but with her magic.

Her head was beginning to clear, but she could still hear the murmurs underlying all the pandemonium about the deck. Crew and passengers were flooding the area, terrified and confused and not sure where to go. Hopefully Zeiser knew what he was doing, or the fear would go overboard, as it were.

Then the young man was kneeling beside her, worry surrounding his words. She gave him a weak smile. "I'm alright," what was his name... Chrono? "I just - I was a little overwhelmed that's all." she finished, her voice trying to lose the tremor that shuddered through her bones. She had to display confidence, now that she had a little crowd around her. Well, three people...

A couple crew men walked past, their words hushed. She heard something about words written in blood somewhere on the ship. Another part of the magic? She had her doubts, and it was probably a prank. But that wouldn't stop the crew from being fearful - and for something like this to happen so early in their journey. They would lose much of their crew in Port Rekitose.

Then she turned her attention the man standing above her, extending his hand. She stared at it for a moment, deciding if she should take his help or not. Of course, she had been brought up as a lady as well as a warrior - and often she could not choose which she'd rather be. The gracious and political female, or the self-confident and strong swordsman. Finally, knowing she couldn't stand on her own with dignity in tact, she reached up and took his hand.

"My thanks, sir. And no, my place is here - where the turmoil is greatest." She managed a slight smirk, and set about trying to stand on weak legs.

((HAHAH! 'overboard' get it? -snickt-
Oh, and just in case you don't see my announcement anywhere else, I will be gone from Monday till Friday night this week. Uhhhh, continue as far as you can with all of this. When I get back we will pull into port at Rekitose. I know the timing is totally wonky, but otherwise things will go too slow. So, if I don't post again today, see you all on Friday!))

The gryphon was happily aloft with a dragon, a dragon that very well is worthy to trust by her standards. Something happens down below; on the Seraphim, and Tanyeera looped downwards after letting out an apologetic sounding whistle. Luft's heart thumps strongly within her feathered chest. A jumble of irksome noise had caused a slight headache in the griffin's head. She gives a soft trill of agitation, what's going on? Is there real danger? With the Dragon Sentry still below, Luft tilts her head and uses her keen eyesight. She can spot the Patroness with a young man, a few of the crew and an old friend...Gesten. Looking to Tanyeera sharply, a vital command had been given, Luft gives a screech in reply. Also in hopes of trying to ward off the spooky voices in the wind.

A light from seemingly no where causes the hertasi to flinch in displeasure, slurping his tongue over his face out of worry. He did not know how to respond to the Navigator and so only flicked his tail in the manner of an angry feline. Gesten lets out a guttural hiss and notices the Patroness in some discomfort. Walking over to the group forming, with the Navigator, the Patroness and some other fellow, the hertasi does a quick bow.
"Is there anything I can retrieve for you?"

Tanyeera searched in vain for the odd voices, then remembered she had promised to tell Luft what was going on. "The people are panicking because of some voices muttering gibberish. We can't find the source of the voices and we can't get it to stop."

She looked around "Apart from that, no one really seems to be hurt. The voices appear to be merely to scare and unnerve. Nothing else is happening."

Just then, she heard some sailors talking about bloody writing on the walls. "Hang on, I just heard something about messages written in blood somewhere on the ship. I'm going to check it out."

She bounced off below decks and for the umpteenth time wished she could stop walking like that. The gibbering voices only served to worsen her temper.

The sea swirled before him as dusk fell to night and yet still Brakus smoked and he was becoming aware that if he kept this pace up, he would run his crate of tobacco down in four months. But he shrugged and kept on puffing, figuring he could worry about that little scenario when he needed to. He had taken a seat, with his back against a crate and was slowly falling into a deep slumber, the pipe still smoking in his lips. The sea was oddly calming and he would have slipped off quiet nicely if the nagging voices hadn’t come along at that time.

At first he thought it imagination and obnoxious indigestion from the stew toying with his head. But the voices began to grow louder and he began to wake up as he realized they weren’t figments of his imagination, but real voices, a whole lot of them, speaking all at once oin some drunken gibberish. He sighed and swelled his chest with air before he shouted in his thundering voice.

“Would ya drunks shut up?” The voices went on, without stopping and Brakus cursed as he got up and spun around to face the obnoxious talkers, to see that no one was by the crate making noise and that the voices were still there and still incredibly annoying. He looked at his ale flask at his side and then pulled the pipe put, observed the contents of the bowl, sniffed them and shrugged, his left eyebrow furrowing in puzzlement.

“What in tha name of Durin beard?” He grumbled and then laughed out loud at himself and sat back down. “Ya fool Brakus, yar drunk again and ya halucinatin! Ha-Ha! Ta think a dwarf would panik at a few voices, ya lot. Go ta bed mate n sleep it off.” and so, with a great deal of effort, he sat down, tuned the voices out as best he could and began to slip off again into his slumber, the voices becoming almost melodious and soothing as he sat there, his eyelids beginning to drop, the voices fading away into nothing.

"Ah... I'll be right back with that wine." Chrono said, turning on his heel and heading down below deck. He passed Rosette, giving the confused blonde a confident smile and few words.

"Everything seems fine for the most, I'm checking things out below for now."

"Right, I come later. There's something I need to see..."Rosette returned, patting the top of his messy purple hair.

Rosette passed the group gathered around Rhiannon, she passed about the mast, checking for the one's send been warned about. The one's with weaker spells. It was a simple matter of laying her hands on their wooden surfaces and taking a deep breath. The magic flowed through her body almost naturally, an uncommon talent. And it was one that left her very tired afterwards if used too much. However this was not something to really take her breath away. Just a little wipe of her sweaty brow, and it was as if nothing had happened.

Now word was reaching Zeiser that there was blood used to write some sort of warning on the walls within the hull. All of this was starting to irritate Zeiser, but it didn't show through. He had learned self-control above all other things is vital to the survival as Captain and crew. A calm and confident Captain shows strength for the crew to hold onto and admire. The panic was beginning to compete with his control however.

"SILENCE!" Zeiser barked over all other voices. The silence quickly enveloped the ship, save for the murmurings within every mind on board. "I want everyone's attention. These voices are naught but a hoax to distract us from our true goal. The same goes for those writings of blood beneath deck that I hear so many gossiping about. It is all merely to divert us from Peregre. Apparently we have a traitor in our midst; one skilled with magic and deceit. Do not worry, though, and do not begin to point fingers. I and only I will be the one to declare who is and is not loyal to this crew. Until then, I will not tolerate ANY gossip of traitors. Period.

"As for the voices, I currently have our many mages in the process of finding the source and cutting it off. So you may rest assured that they will dissipate soon."

Tanyeera quickly found the blood-stained walls and spent a few moments studying the marks, attempting to decipher their meaning, if any. Eventually, she gave up and went to look for a scrubbing brush. She wanted those marks gone in case they had anything to do with the voices. Furthermore, the more people saw them, the more they'd mutter about the ship to Pelegre being cursed.

That was no part of her clan's plan. They had agreed that the Emperor would only be satisfied if he sent a ship to Pelegre, and then received reports that the ship had plundered everything of worth and Pelegre wasn't worth going to anymore. That meant that the ship had to get there so they could harvest their pretty baubles and go away.

Just invent a nice legend about a fabulous treasure somewhere, the greatest treasure of Pelegre supposedly, let a couple members of the crew hear conflicting rumors about it, lead them through moderate hardship and peril to get their pretty trinkets, then send them off with their hard-won loot and glowing reports of harvesting the Great Treasure Trove of Pelegre.

It seemed to be a good plan. That way, they got nice shiny gold, and Pelegre kept her secrets.
