Xaio's eyes grew wide at the sight of the wave of flames that his opponent had just sent at him form his foot. With almost no time to react Xaio fell back on his back knee. With the ground softened from his last attack combo, mostly due to the shock wave, Xaio was able to create a small half dome that did as it was ment to, act as a shield. "You got that right." Xaio said when he had a second to spare.
Attack with the purpose to defend. That was the one thing that his father had told him about Earthbending. Sitting back on his knee Xaio tried something new. Using the shield that he used to stop the attack Xaio started to strike it with clawed hands. The desired effect he wanted was achieved. Small blunt darts, about the size of his fingers, launched them selves out toward Ryuk. Thanks to the low amount of light Xaio was certain a few of the projectiles would hit thier mark, it also didn't hurt that he was firing them all over the place in Ryuk's direction. Xaio was about to launch another volley when he felt something warm creeping up his leg. Looking down Xaio was surprised to see that there was a small flame growing larger on his leg. Taking a large handful of soil he smothered the flame. Looking back over the shield Xaio wanted to make sure that out of the 30 some-what stone projectiles he sent a few hit their mark.

Xaio was able to create a small shield from he dirt, which repelled most of the flame. But what Xaio didn't see, was that part of the wave hit the ground next to the shield. He then made the flames slowly crawl around the wall and onto his leg. Ryuk smiled, but it quickly faded as he saw a small flicker of movement. At first, he didn't know what it was. But as he started to focus, he saw what they were. Small darts made of dirt.
"Crap." He said.
Ryuk had little time to react. He jumped back, kicking off with his right foot, and started spinning. He then forced flames out of his hands and feet, creating a wall of fire all around him. Most of the dart turned to smoke when they hit the fire, but atleast ten made it through, feeling like two fingered jabs on his body. The wall vanished and Ryuk tumbled to the ground. He slowly got up, still smiling, and charged at Xaio. He flipped onto his hand and pushed himself into the air. He landed with one foot on the wall of earth and kicked off of it. He could clearly see Xaio now. Ryuk took in a deep breath and stabbed his fingers in the air, creating ten small bolts of flames.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Four

"This isn't going to feel good." Xaio said as he saw the bolts of flames spring out at him from Ryuk's finger tips. There was no time to do anything but take the blows as Xaio's arms covered his face. "Now that's going to leave a mark." Xaio said as he patted the flames out on his sleeves and other parts of cloth enflamed.
"Wanna play catch?" Xaio asked as he stood up next to the wall. Taking handful after handful of the stone and mud in his hands Xaio threw them with incredible force, as a result of physical streangth and his bending skills. After the second handful each the wall dropped as Xaio squared off agianst the firebender.
'Man, this guy is good.' Xaio thought as he racked his brain for some way to win. Xaio quickly took the same posture that he had at the begining of the match. This time he used both hands in a wide arc, both arms swinging over his head on the same side of his body. This time as he brought his hands up a small wave of dirt rose up infront of him, gathering more as it rushed to Ryuk.

Ryuk's darts made contact, bursting to flame as soon as they hit. Though they were low heat, they did burn. Xaio quickly patted out the flames and stood up. Ryuk landed about ten feet away on his right foot, his back facing Xaio. He swung his left foot around, using the momentum to spin him all the way around and face Xaio. He then started grabbing chunks of the wall he had made and threw them at Ryuk. After throwing four, he got into a fighting stance.
"Now this is getting interesting." Ryuk said, getting into a new fighting stance.
His feet were spread apart, but still lined up with each other. And Ryuk's hands were claws, pulled back under his shoulders, like they were about to launch forward. Ryuk eyes had adjusted to the low light by now, and he counted the balls of mud that had been thrown at him.
"One... Two, three, four." He counted outloud.
Ryuk waited until the first one was a foot away before punching his hand forward, sending a burst of flame out and hitting the mud, countering the two out. He did this to two more. The last one he had done too late, and the mud crashed into his hand, making a loud pop. Ryuk winced in pain and held his left hand. Xaio then made a small wall of dirt, that kept collecting dirt as it got closer. Ryuk took in a deep breath, not sure if what he was about to do would work. He kicked his foot, sending a wave at it. He then sliced with his good arm, making another wave. The two waves traveled, one right behind the other, making a wide X.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Five

By the time Ryuk had sent his counter attack at his wall, Xaio couldn't see over it. But he did however see his wall burst into almost nothing more than shrapnel as the two forces collided. Xaio was able to stop all of the big debris from hitting him except for one, which was about the size of a fist that hit him square in the gut. The force was enough to knock the wind out of him, but all in all the mud ball hit Ryuk's hand with the same force that just smacked him in the stomach.
"That's going to leave a mark," Xaio said as he looked at Ryuk with intrest. If this guy could fight this well with just having finishing a match then he was stronger than Xaio, but compared to Ryuk, Xaio was still fresh.
Xaio spun in a circle, his left foot drawing a circle around him as it drug on the ground. Pushing his hands down Xaio caused a small cloud of dust to arise from the outline of the circle. Xaio then threw his hands the other way, pushing them up over his head as if he was lifting something. The ground around Xaio, more accuratly the ground within the circle, shot up with Xaio's hands. Standing on a pillar a good 10ft. in the air Xaio could see that Ryuk was favoring his left hand, one of his mud balls must have found their mark.

The two attacks collided. The fire exploded, as well as the wall of dirt, sending derbis every which way. Ryuk grabbed his googles and pulled them up with his right hand, just as a cloud of dirt blew over him. The goggles were so that his eyes didn't get irritated by the fire he bent, but it worked just as well against wind, water, and dirt apparently. When the wall exploded, Xaio protected himself from all the debris except for one. A rock the size of a fist hit him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him. Ryuk smiled, glad to see that Xaio was getting hurt too. Ryuk let out a deep breath and wiped the sweat that was now forming on his forehead. Ryuk watched Xaio as the cloud of dirt and debris vanished. He spun around in a circle, drawing a circle with his foot. He then pushed down on it with his hands, creating another cloud of dust. He then threw his hands up, lifting himself up on a ten foot high pillar. Ryuk looked at it and whistled. He then tiled his neck and cracked. Ryuk took in a deep breath, getting into a final style of fighting pose he could use against Earthbenders. His right foot forawrd, his left to his side, the two making a right angle. His hands were in the same position, except his left hand close to his face, pointing towards Xaio. The pointer and middle were sticking up, and the other three fingers were pulled down. Ryuk took in another deep breath and swung his hands, his left hurting, but he ignored the pain. The waves of fire flew towards the pillar and passed through it, making two cuts all the way through. One near the bottom, and one close to the top. Ryuk then pulled back his right hand, gathering energy and thrusted it forward, sending a blast of fire near the center.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Six

Xaio could feel the pillar he was standing on start to give, he was going to jump off anyways. Grinning, Xaio jumped off the pillar just as the middle section was going to blow. If anyone but an Earthbender, or an Airbender for that matter, tried this they would surely die. But when Xaio landed he used his Bending for two things, first it was to soften his landing, the main reason was to cause the surrounding area to start upheaving in violent waves. Thankfully Xaio landed behind Ryuk, using the Firebender's own blast to help propel Xaio even further.
As Xaio watched the wave expand in all directions Xaio was tempted to shout out for the others to watch out. Xaio didn't know what Ryuk had in store but it was going to have to wait. Bringing his hands up over his head Xaio brought a new dome over his body, this time it encased him completly. Pushing his hands down Xio sunk into the ground, though Ryuk wouldn't be able to see him do this. Sinking into the darkness Xaio closed the area above him to make it seem that he disappeared should Ryuk break through the dome, which Xaio wanted.

Ryuk's attack hit the center of the pillar, turning it to loosen dirt and making the whole thing crash to the ground. The impact blew dirt and wind everywhere, pelting Ryuk. It didn't hurt, it just felt like dry rain. Even though Ryuk took out the pillar, Xaio had escaped. Ryuk followed him through the air. Xaio landed right behind Ryuk, causing the ground around him to lift and twist. Ryuk hopped back a bit, avoiding the wave. It kept going, and Ryuk spun around.
"Guys, get up." He called out.
Kouryuu heard him, left the carcase, and quickly climbed up a nearby tree, the wave missing him. Ryuk turned around to face Xaio, just in time to see Xaio bring his hands over his head and create a new dome of earth around him. Ryuk just watched, a menacing smirk appearing on his face right after Xaio vanished into his dome. Ryuk lifted his hands into the air, his left slightly lowered. And with one smal exhale, all the fire around him went out, even the camp fire. Filling the entire area with darkness. Ryuk had a plan, and this was just the first step. Ryuk waited a few minutes, until his eyes completely adjusted to the darkness. He then ran forward, jumped into the air, and brought his heel down on the top of the dome with crushing force.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Seven

Xaio smiled to himself. Up above his head, Xaio could feel Ryuk smashing through the dome he set up as a decoy and cover. When Ryuk got though it there'd be the inital surprise of finding your opponent vanished. During the time Xaio was under the ground he had expanded his hide out so he could have enough room to bend down below the slab that Ryuk was currently standing on.
Thanks to the many small, undetected, holes that were allowing air through, Xaio took a deep breath. With a powerful uppercut Xaio barely had room between him and a series of spikes that shot up where he felt Ryuk landing. To anyone standing up on the surface it looked like a growth of stone spikes similar to those Xaio used earlier. The ground that the spikes erupted through gave out as the spikes crushed the like like stone slab.

Ryuk's heel hit the dome with tremendous force, shattering the whole thing. Ryuk fell through and landed where Xaio would have been.
"What the?" He asked himself.
He was confused and looked around, trying to find Xaio. Since he extinguished all the light in the area, all he could see was shadows of earth. He sighed.
"Okay, maybe that wasn't the greatest idea..." He said, rubbing the back of his neck.
He walked around the inside of where the dome had been, feeling with his feet, trying to find a tunnel or something. As he walked, his right foot tripped on a small hole. It was very small and Ryuk didn't pay attention to it. Since Ryuk couldn't see, he was going by hearing and feeling. Suddenly, he felt a shock under him and instinctivly jumped into the air, avoiding the stone spikes. One of them kept rising, catching the sole of his foot and throwing him to the side at an akward angle. He flipped and started falling next to a tree. He grabbed the dagger out of his pocket and stabbed it into the tree, slowly his fall. He stopped a foot above a branch and pulled out the dagger, landing on the branch. He then looked below, hoping Xaio wasn't skilled enough to uproot trees.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Eight

Xaio calmly climebd out of the hole he had dug himself into. "Man, you're a sutubborn b*****d, aren't you?" Xaio called out to the dark image he seen dangiling on a tree. There was nothing Xaio wouldn't give right now to have Jonah's training he promised. Xaio kicked the middle of one of the spikes he used earlier as an attack, sending a large chunk of it flying right at Ryuk's hanging form.
Xaio wasn't done. Using just about every spike around him he continued to fire at Ryuk untill he was panting and out of breath. The stone pillars around him were now nothing but stubbs.

Ryuk hung from the tree branch, dthe dagger in his right hand, his left barely holding onto the branch. He lightly swung back and forth, mocking Xaio. Ryuk squinted his eyes, watching him as he crawled out of the hole he had hidden himself into. It was then that Xaio called out, saying he was a stubborn b*****d. Ryuk smiled, laughing as he hung from the tree.
"Of course!" He said.
"If I wasn't, then I would have lost already." Ryuk finished, laughing.
Ryuk stared at the figure of Xaio. He kicked one of the spikes, sending it rocketing at him. Ryuk let out a small squeak and lifted his legs into the air, the spike passing right under his legs, piercing into the tree. Ryuk was laughing, having a great time. Xaio threw another spike, which Ryuk avoided by swinging onto the top of the branch. The spike crashed into the other one, breaking the two, and sending them crashing into the ground. Ryuk saw Xaio fire many more at him. He used his dagger to get on the otherside of the tree. The spike hit the tree, piercing it in many places. One of the spikes stopped below his right foot, and one right next to his head. Ryuk let out a relieved sigh and called out.
"Is that the best you have?" He called out, taunting him.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Nine

'Thank God I'm an earthbender.' Xaio thought as he remembered somthing Jonah did the last time he seen him fight. Xaio pulled the stumps together, forming a stone version of the Earth Kindom's insignia, a large circle with a square hole in the middle. Picking it up with his bending, Xaio lept forward. As he did he turned in mid-air, bringing his arms pointing down behind him on his right side of his body.
As Xaio landed he had his back to the tree. Spinning, Xaio brought his arms through with a swinging motion, almost like he was competing in a diskus throw. The stone coin was sent flying through the air at the tree with enough force to push the spining blade right through it. Exhaused Xaio fell to his knees panting. The only thing he could handle now was maybe coating his arms in stone and fighting hand-to-hand.

Since Ryuk was behind the tree, standing on one of the impaling spike shtat had been thrown by Xaio, he didn't know what was going on right now. He heard more earth shifting and forming.
What can he be up to now? Ryuk asked himself.
There were several moments of silence bfore the sound of jumping, running, and throwing could be heard. He winced out of reflex. Suddenly, the tree he was under jerked violently then started to lean.
"What the?!" He cried out.
He grabbed onto the dagger tighter as the tree started to fall over.
"Can he uproot trees?" He asked himself, thinking of a way to land softly.
That's when he noticed the large coin stuck in a nearby tree.
"He threw that..." He said, nodding to himself.
In one quick movement Ryuk flipped around the tree, standing on the part that was facing the sky. He stood crouched, ready. Right before the tree hit the ground, he jumped off, rolling on the ground and quickly getting up. He was panting slightly, and he looked over at Xaio, who seemed to be in the same condition. Ryuk slowly got into his fighting stance, taking in a deep breath.
"So I guess it's hand to hand combat now." He said, smiling.(Battle with an Earthbender) Training Post Ten

"I guess it is. Xaio said as he stood up slowly. As his hands left the ground the small rocks around his arms, hands, and legs up to his knees. But a little fortification wouldn't hurt." Xaio said he took a horse stance. Even if he couldn't bend much at the moment, he still could fight from this position. "I'll let you start this time." Xaio said as he clenched his fists, a bit of dust crumbling from his hands as the stone boound together to fortify his punches.
The thing is, Xaio wasn't cheating. Ryuk might just get it in his mind to use a couple of those knives that he had. Pluse he could decide to use some of that firebending. It wasn't anything personal against Ryuk, Xaio just wasn't a big fan of losing.
