My suggestion is that you may want to change the angle about him being afraid of the ocean and not liking aquatic animals... when he's gonna turn into one. It's an angle that's been done with Awen Zyn. Same with Cassidy becoming a snake when she was afraid of them. I'm not saying only one person can have this problem, but it's been mentioned that fewer outright spiteful transformations would be good.
Character quirks help to flesh a concept out more, too... Any nervous habits? Hobbies? The list of likes and dislikes looks kinda generic right now.

Alright, I'll change his outfit...but even before I came up with Elswick I was going to call my character Edward anyways.

Seaki Jeez! Tippy had a turtle named Edward! What's the problem with basing the name off a turtle she had! The problem has nothing to do with the animal. If you were to keep the name Edward and then change the apperance. (Hair colour, style, and clothing.) There would be no one pointing fingers and screaming "FMA!"

Just an idea >.> If your character is still seriously "under construction," don't ask for serious critiques. I mean, you can get comments on what's obviously not working, but your reader doesn't know what you're thinking unless it's actually all typed up. It's much easier for everyone, really. 3nodding

We're not trying to be snobs, we're trying to help you. So far your character is a FMA Cosplay turning into a turtle. There are SOOO many things wrong with that sentence that I'm not going to start, but really. Just because you made him tall doesn't change the fact that its Ed. Look, your animal is a good idea. And its fine if you keep the name Edward. But PLEASE reconsider some of your ideas.
