No way 100% from watching anime. XD Way too hard to learn sentence structure and stuff. After reading a pronunciation guide in one of my dictionaries, I perfected it through watching anime. I still have an accent of course, but not as horrible as my accent in German is.

If you're truely interested in learning the language, I would suggest a two-way dictionary, a kanji dictionary with On and Kun readings and stroke order, and a grammar/sentence structure guidebook. You might want to invest in a hiragana guidebook and a katakana guidebook, although you could just as easily learn hiragana and katakana online. It may seem like a lot of stuff to have, but it's so much easier when you have more resources. Plus, most dictionaries are fairly cheap anyways.
As for the anime thing, I would never atempt to learn a language by watching cartoons for several reasons. The subtitles you have on your DVDs may not be that accurate and you'll never be able to fully express yourself in the language. Of course, once you start to learn, watching or reading anything in the language you're trying to learn is great practice. XD That's my excuse for watching so much anime. Heh.

Awsome, I have a type of all of those books except for the grammar/sentence structure guidebook! biggrin As it would be, that's the thing I'm worst at in Japanese, besides kanji... kanji isn't allowed to count because it is the work of Satan.

Lmao. I totally agree with that last bit. Kanji is effing evil. Especially the stroke order. D:! I don't want to seem ignorant because my strokes are jacked up. *A*

You guys should feel totally special right now.
Not understanding what you guys are talking about made me frusterated enough to start learning Japanese on Sunday! surprised I found a nice site with free lessons, but I'm ah-scareded of the writing part! The world should just use our letter system. D= *stubborn American*
I agree the sentence structure is weird. It's like deciphering a puzzle in a video game! Which is a really good idea, and I will probably get a not so random shonen jump game I've been interested in shipping over to help me... "practice". ninja

@ k-chan: Yeah, that's the one! One of my rich friends was showing it off & it was really fun despite not knowing what exactly was going on with the menu options and special attack names. But why are there no ygo characters? D=< They can fight.
Like
Kaiba could stab everyone with his ultra super special card flinging skizzles! & somebody could use yugi as a deadly spiked projectile. Then the special attack would be Summoning the winged dragon of Ra in holy pheonix mode, and flame-broiling some bitches! I'm totally making a yugioh fighting game if they won't! ...copy right infringements or not! pirate
& thanks BK. =) I appreciate it and will probably bother you in the near future.

Then maybe I'm thinking of a different game. sweatdrop
I played one where it was only Naruto, dbz, and one piece characters battling it out. I'm pretty sure we had all the characters unlocked. Rawr, now I'm all paranoid about my limitless spazzdom, I need to go research to make sure I didn't just mentally block out a yami yugi character to protect my memories.

Hmmm.... well I've never actually played the game, but from the advertising I've seen, I though you could play as Yami no Yuugi, Raito, Ryuuku, Boubobo and a lot of other Shounen Jump characters too. O.o
