I was referred to this guild by someone who said it could help me with a particular problem. But first I suppose I'll introduce myself. I live in New Mexico and currently a senior in High School and I teach First Year Holy Communion. My problem is this. My girlfriend was raped about a week ago and well she believes she may be pregnant and she's asked me what would we do if she is. My options are we put the baby up for adoption, we keep the baby and I put down that I'm the father, or we keep the baby but I adopt the and don't put down that I'm the father. I don't know what to do. Oh and she is a freshman in college. What would be the best thing for me to do for her and the baby. Oh and by the way we don't believe in abortion because of our religious beliefs. Please help. Your opinions can help greatly. Thank You.

Well, if she was raped and the baby is a result from that rape, I don't believe you have much say over what she does with it. The best thing you can do is support whatever decision SHE makes, even if it isn't one you agree with.

If she's against abortion, then I'd probably suggest adoption, unless you can find a college that has a daycare, or find someone to watch the baby while she/the both of you in school. Consider your finances, what you're doing in life right now, whether you're ready to put your schooling on hold to take care of a baby, etc etc. Would your family be supportive of your guys' choice? Would her family be supportive? You can also make a thread about this in the guild if you'd like, maybe more people would respond that way. 3nodding

Plus we are still going to retake another pregnancy test in about 2 or 3 weeks. I do realize it is her body and would support her in any decision she makes. We have found a couple of colleges that do have daycares. Finances might be a problem. Her family we know wouldn't be supportive and mine would probably make a big deal about it and hang it over our heads. Thank you and I do think I may make thread here.

It's in the pregnancy sticky, but I think it says that if someone might be pregnant, they should take the pregnancy test on the day when they're supposed to get their period, or soon after that day.

Why hello there 3nodding thank you for the invite, whomever invited me (I'm assuming Nikolita?)
I am 19, female, Canadian. In a long term relationship. I practice safe sex and frequently get tested for problems "just in case". An STD, even a mild one, could have devastating effects on me, so I don't take chances.
I'm glad to be here, hopefully I can find some good advice on the things I don't know much about, and can offer good advice to others who need it 3nodding
P.S.: I have also had an eating disorder for 13 years and am now in treatment, anyone looking for advice and recovery inspiration, just ask me heart

@Weapon: I'm not sure how the law goes but it would probably be a much better idea to adopt the child rather then signing as father if you know that you aren't.

I'm going to be a Junior in high school, I have a boyfriend, but I'm a virgin (and plan to stay on for some time) umm... **shrugs** if you need advice, I'll try to give some, if you promise to at least consider it...

Well, I was invited into this guild yesterday evening or afternoon I cant remember. I have been on gaia since September of 2003 but I recently got into life issues in the past year. I really like helping people all I can. I like this guild alot because no one is flaming others or making fun of them. I can ask actual questions here without being shot down. So thank you. I know that in the future I will surely thank this guild for some much needed help. Considering I have many questions to ask, but I will ask them as they come up. I am a freshman in highschool, in a long term relationship. I am a virgin, and plan to stay that way untill I'm much older. Everything I do I take great care in making sure nothing bad can happen. I live in the great green state of Washington! I also have spelling problems. xd
