I only just learned how to read hiragana, but that's it...if anyone has any tips, that would be nice biggrin
I see a bunch of Japanese in here...I humbly bow down to your awesome skills.

xd Welcome! heart I would be very happy to give you any tips, and Kawaguchi-san has even lived abroad so she is probably the number one person to ask that I know of.
My advice, practice! PRACTICE. And whatever you do, learn Kanji. It's a pain in the a**, it takes a long time, sometimes they're really hard to write. But if you learn them, and you learn how to write them PROPERLY (essential for being able to look them up in a dictionary) then your life will be so much easier.

I already know hiragana...
and how to write my name in katakana.
I also know a tiny bit of kanji.... sweatdrop

That kanji is "ima", or "now". 3nodding It is everywhere, heehee. xD It's in Kyou (today), kotoshi (this year), konnichi wa (hello), etc. Good kanji to know.

For some reason, it always reminds me of the kanji for "house", but I don't think that's right.... .______.;;

XD Actually, that one means school. To Study is much more complicated (勉強). I was actually looking at that and wondering what the hell I wrote, because most of the time "学" is just "gaku". Such as 大学 (daigaku), which is college. But in the case of my post, 学びます is read "manabimasu", which is "to learn". I was learning how to type on the computer in Japanese. 3nodding
Ahh, days of the week! Here, I'll make a list for ya.
月- (getsu, tsuki) moon. Monday.
火 - (ka, hi) fire. Tuesday.
水 - (sui, mizu) water. Wednesday.
木 - (moku, ki) tree. Thursday.
金 - (kin, (o)kane) gold/money. Friday.
土 - (do, tsuchi) dirt/soil. Saturday.
日 - (nichi, hi, ni, etc.) sun/day. Sunday.

すいようび
もくようび
きにょうび
どようび
にちようび
We haven't started on kanji yet... =.=;;
But I can recognize the kanji for Mon-Thurs, as well as recognize sat and get Sunday's kanji mixed up with Monday's.... XD ha ha~
I didn't know "gold" though. :p

Yep! Those are right. 3nodding The kanji I listed are the first kanji in the days of the week. For example, げつようび＝月ようび

There's a kanji for 'you' too, and 'bi' is just day, like in 'nihon' or 'nichiyoubi'. *nod nod*

sweatdrop Not awesome, just experienced. heart Ah, oral speaking has always been my weakest point... well, more like, orally conversing. I like written stuff because I can use a dictionary, I don't have to think on the spot. I've gotten better over the years, but I'm still not very confident.

When I took Japanese the first time, we would get a piece of paper and we'd spend a good thirty minutes working together with some other class mates trying to figure it out while others were inside doing the written tests...
Now... my oral quiz is actually going to be element of surprise sort of thing...
