Yeah, I love burning incense too. I found some at our new Save Mart grocery store (used to be Albertson's) It's better quality than the stuff I've been getting at Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. So far from there I have Coconut. I love it! (I got Dragon's Blood from Wal-Mart, it's cool.)

dark_angel_32189 I'm not allowed to have inscence... or candles in the house. My mom's afraid I'll burn the house down. My mom was the EXACT same way when I lived at home. It was SUCH a major pain.

I love burning incense. It relaxes me and clears away a lot of the stress that the day has brought on. I like Frankincense and Dragon Blood.
I enjoy burning Cherry blossom incense just for fun.

I like incense, but I am concerned about the potential health problems that can happen. There have been some big studies about the effects of incense smoke and cancer here because we have a very very very large Asian population where I live, and on certain Chinese holidays in particular, the smoke from all the incense burning in the temples blocks all visibility on the nearby roads and neighbourhoods. whee
I'm sure for sure that is not good, however I also wonder on the smaller scale, especially in an enclosed space. I don't use it for the sake of my pets. I have half a dozen mice, cats (and one is a new kitten), and several aquariums, and I can't justify smoking them out when they can't get out I also don't light candles, because I live in a 150 year old house, and we are all dreadfully paranoid.

dark_angel_32189 I bought a whole bunch of incense today... well, not a whole bunch, but enough to last me for now. I bought some vanilla, dragons blood, cinnamon.... and some others that I can't think of the names. They sell them 20 sticks for one dollar at the New Age store here... I think that's a pretty good price, right? Maybe not, I don't know. Some people are so afraid do die THAT IS REALLY GOOD! your so lucky!

hmmm, my favorite incense....that's hard to choose. I guess I'd have to say coconut and aloe vera. Simple ones like that.

[A]nd Then You'll Know I like... African gardenia.
Right now I use it for leisure. Just for the sake of burning something. And also because I can't actively practice in this house... It sucks. I Love You. ♥

dark_angel_32189 Yeah, unfortunetly though, after burning the first stick I found out that incense makes me sick. For one, I have asthma. And on top of that they make my stomach hurt. Really? That really sucks. My husband has asthma, so I make sure to only burn incense around him in an open space. Ie; 1 stick/cone in our livingroom/diningroom/kitchen area. I avoid burning any in either of the bedrooms when he is using them. As for making you feel ill; perhaps trying a different brand or scent? In my experience you got the incense really cheap- it might not be very good quality??? I really like lavender and dragons blood incense. I also have white jasmine & ebony opium right now.

I think they were just on sale since it was like the day before a Sabbat. And some of the ones I bought weren't cheap. So, I don't know. I think it's mainly just all the smoke that gets into my lungs... makes my stomach hurt. I don't know.
I can burn candles with no problem though, so I just use lots of those.
Or maybe it's because I use them in my room and there isn't really away for the smoke to get out, so it just builds up. And it's only when I'm sitting right in front of it (like in a ritual). If I'm not near it, I'm fine. So, I don't know.

1) What do you use it for mainly?
Sometimes... just to have a nice aroma in the air to set a mood. Always has an intrinsic ritual bent though for honoring the Sacred.
2) Are there any special incense flavours for certain spells?
I'm not particularly 'spell' oriented as my path focuses far more on honoring the Divine, though I suppose you could consider that a 'spell' in some contexts. I do use specific incense types for honoring Moon and pick an appropriate type for each Solar Festival. Have also used specific types for meditations or attunements.
3) What's ya fav?
Damn. That's hard. But I probably have to say Dragon's Blood. It's a good generic one that I use when nothing else more specific strikes me. I just generally like the scent of it. I'm also fond of Sandalwood, but I'm more careful using that since I've become aware that Sandalwood is often unsustainably harvested or overharvested.
