Neko girl Manda Ah, almost to page two again, poor neglected thread. *huggles it* Chris has field training the 2nd-13th. Joy. xP More alone time. Oh well, part of the gig. Man what is with the army. So sorry to here this, you really would think they'd let people be with their family before deployment instead of sending them off to do stupid crap. *hugs*

Yeah I can't help but want to kick some butt when they take them for training. I know they have to but man, it's hard to find family time.
I'm getting geared up for my vacation. I haven't talked to Tommy much since they yanked email priveledges at the hospital and the MWR internet is screwy. That and all the crap going down.
He goes up for the E-5 board on the 9th!

Some of you may have heard of this, and of course some of you haven't, but there is a book called "Married to the Military." My husband bought it for me when he enlisted in the Navy. He actually ships off to Boot Camp today. It lists all sorts of helpful information for coping with Military life. It's not expensive either, I think my copy was $10. It helped me alot, and it may help some of you too. smile

I think I've heard of it. I remember there was a book on this other military wives' board suggesting a book and it was just insane, to me. It pretty much was a bend over and take it cause you're the wife kinda book. I couldn't believe they honestly suggested that. Not that your suggestion isn't good, it just reminded me and made me laugh with the memories
Great news! Tommy did great on the E-5 boards! He got 143 out of 150 points, so he has 540 points (insane amounts) and is a Spc-P! Hurry up lazy bones and get the Sgt. paperwork going for us! blaugh

Grats on him passing the board. Aside from the paperwork, he's going to have to go away for BNOC as well if he hasn't already. That is unless you're on one of the lucky posts that has a BNOC school there. Another good book, is the Solo-Ops book. http://soloops.com/index.php?pid=3It's about $20.00, but funny.

Well, I'm not sure how BNOC is going to work since he's pretty much going to be in Iraq for the rest of his term, then get out and go Reserves. I think he said he'll probably get pinned in August/July. Perhaps they do have BNOC there.
Heh one of the NCOs said he was too much of a soldier to not be on a line unit. Yeah right, like we'd let that one happen! xd Must have been an infantry guy. A lot of people tell him he's "wasting" his talents being medical.

Grats on Tommy's passing his board! surprised
As for military wife books, there are a lot of bad ones out there! LOL.
I did recently finish a very good one though. Today's Military Wife: 5th edition by Lydia Sloan Cline. Rather then some of them that just tell you to take it, she goes more of the empowerment root to remind you that military life is what you make of it. It covered all branches, how to read pay stubs, how to handle deployments, over seas moves, how to make and stick to a budget, your own career, socials and protocol...lots of topics. List price is $16.95, but at the exchange it would be ~ $12.71 and no tax. ^_^ Always have to love that.
I have another I need to start that is specifically for the Army. I'll post about it when I actually finish.

I don't know how exiciting this would be for anyone else but my husband is getting to start off as an E3. smile Start off as in directly going into Boot Camp. It's because he had several college hours (nearly enough for a Bachelors) and credits.

Rorek, that sounds just like my husband. He has 4 years of college (yet no degree, but enough hours for a degree) and started off as an E-3.
Good for him!
