Unwelcome Company

Cody Archer
Cody was facing a dilema. Up until now it had been easy to deal with the dolphin instincts. They usually only acted up when he was inside the water, getting him to swim dolphin style and regulate the breathing. And the other ones had go unnoticed by the young boy, since his knowlege of his own human nature was still being constructed
But this urge was something he was pretty sure it wasn't normal. Right now he was staring at the different types of food and couldn't decide what to pick, cooked fish or raw fish
The raw fish seemed tastier, but the human notion of only eating cooked meat kept saying it was wrong to pick that, even if the insticts said otherwise

To Cody this was confusing. Why did he felt like eating raw fish? It looked yucky but at the same time so tasty! He just couldn't understand

Gallen Marcuss
After a short Game of pool with his new friend Liamh, Gallen had finally found his way to the Lunch room again. As he entered the wonderful smell of food wafted into his nostrils and made his tummy growl even more. As he approached the Buffet bar like set up he saw a familiar sight, the little dolphin boy who he first met 5 days back. He stopped and watched the little boy for a while, the boys tail swooshing in thought as it seemed Cody was trying to decide between cooked and raw fish.

“hey squirt, you know in Asia, specially Japan they eat fish raw. They even eat cats and dogs.” A wicked grin came over Gall’s face. Then he stopped for a second…you idiot your suppose to apologies to eth kid not torment him more….

Cody Archer
Cody was completely caught by surprise when Gallen talked to him. He almost jumped in the air when he turned around to see who it was. Oh great, the slug!

"I didn't asked your opinion!"

He turned back to the buffet and picked the cooked fish. He knew why Gallen acted like an idiot, but he still haven't forgave him for calling him a liar. And he was not giving him the satisfaction of following his advice on raw fish
He grabbed the tray and sat the furthest he could from Gallen

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed and went to the buffet to get some food. I too had the odd craving again for fish. But also the craving for leafy greens. I gathered up what he wanted to eat and then took a separate plate and set some raw fish on it, and soon made his way toward where Cody was sitting. He had to make up to this kid, or he would feel bad about there first encounter for a long time.

“So kid this seat taken,” before Cody could answer Gallen sat. “You know I am sorry about the other day, I did not mean to make you fell like I thought you where a liar, it is just…well I still have trouble excepting this whole deal with the island.” He removed his plates and set them up in front of him so he could eat. He smiled as he took a drink of milk he had poured in a cup.

Cody Archer
Cody shifted in his seat as he tried to move away from Gallen without getting up. He didn't look at him when he spoke, pretending to be paying attention to his food

"Well you have and I'm still mad at you" he said between mouthfuls. What was so hard to believe? People were getting turned into animal-people, it was as simple as that. Having trouble with the how, now that was acceptable, but to Cody that had little meaning. Not like he could understand anyway

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen watched the boy carefully, “you know it is rude to talk with your mouth full. My sister would have slug ya if she caught you doing that at our dinner table back home.” He sighed as he started to eat the grilled tuna he had. “You can be mad, I was rude, but realize not everyone in the world is accustom to the idea of things changing from one species to another. It does go against basic nature, though scifi films like to play with the idea, or ghost stories with werewolves.” He sat there eating and watching Cody, it was amazing and disturbing the changes this boy must have gone through, webbed hands and almost no ears. And that tail, plus the feet….”How do you manage to walk with those feet, sides probably be a good idea to wear shoes.”

Cody Archer
Cody returned a gaze that could pierce a rock. This guy was being a jerk to point out stuff like that

"It was nearly empty. And this looks too real to be fake" he moved his tail up and down as a demonstration

He ate another piece of fish before replying. It wasn't easy to hold the fork steady with the webbing in the way

"I put one feet on front of the other, like everyone else. And I can't wear shoes anymore"

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen raised an eyebrow…”you can’t? That sucks. And yes I know your tail is real, I met a few others here that are like you. They all claimed I am going to change soon too. I doubt it, cause my sister works for the labs, why would she invite me here to have me changed.” Gallen ignored Cody’s stone piercing stare. “so what are you into Cody? I see you like swimming.”

Cody Archer
"No, I can't! I need the shoelaces to hold the shorts up!!" and actually his feet dance inside the shoes, even when he used the socks to fill the empty space. Not to mention it felt awkward walking like that

"So you liked the imaginary friends, uh?" Cody couldn't help to rub that on. Anything to prove he was right and Gallen was wrong. Childish, but he was still a kid

But at the mention of having his sister here he couldn't help showing some interest, completely ignoring the next question
"Really? Did you talked with her about this?"

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen ignored teh comment about imaginary friends, though he would later find a way to pay the kid back for being a brat. Then when he asked about his sister Gallen looked away, “no, I can not seem to get in contact with anyone in eth labs right now. And I found out that she does not live where I thought she lived….” He went silent and tried to eat

Cody Archer
"You tried to use the intercom? They anwsered me right away last time I tried. And where does she live then?"

He noticed how hard Gallen's expression became and decided not to tease over it. He would feel bad too if someone asked about his family

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed, “ I do not know why they did not answer. And no I do not know where she is…she may not be here…..but I will not believe it. Sides squirt I think you might rather like this.” Gallen pushed over the plate of raw salmon to Cody. “Growing dolphins should eat healthy. He smiled as he used this to change eth subject away form his sister and the issues with the island. He sighed though eh wanted to forget about the island, he had to know, had to know what the process was that caused the change and when the first stages would start. He had to know if there was even a chances in hell he could avoid getting the shots, at least long enough to get a distress call off the island and get help. “So what is the thing they use to change you, and when does it start to happen?”

Cody Archer
Cody was about to reply about Gallen's sister, when he was suddeny interrupted by the tasty looking piece of salmon on front of him. But he was going to give that satisfaction

"No way!" he pushed the plate away from him and retrned to his own, so Gallen wouldn't have a chance to put that thing in front of his nose again
But he stoped when he was asked about the changes

"They gave me a shot and I don't know when it starts. I don't count the days, but they said it's different between people anyway"

Gallen Marcuss
“A shot, “Gallen pulled up his shirt sleeve and rubbed where Sabin had injected him. “They said it was a vaccine at first right?” He watched the boy push the plate back, he sighed as he looked at his food. “So how long since you where human? I met a guy who was a deer man who said it had been a year since he was human.”

Cody Archer
"No. Aubrey told me when I arrived and got the first injection"

Cody was nearly done eating. There was only the chocolate cake slice left, an addiction Colche gotten him into

"I told you the last time I'm here since June. ANd I don't know how long it took for the first chage!"

He hatted having to repeat stuff over and over again. It was boring and annoying

Gallen Marcuss
“Aubery? Who is that?” he watched Cody finish his meal. Then started to eat his more, but the taste of the fish did not seem to satisfied his stomach, nether did the salad. He just did not feel hungry. But he had to force himself to eat so he would not get sick. “You know you should mind your manors to your elders, squirt.” Gallen had a distant sad look on his face. "why would they do this to a kid." he blurted out loud..."I am sorry, but your so young, why would some one take away your humanity, even to cure you." This place is a lie and we are all caught in it, he thought to himself. “Gallen soon got up leaving his tray. “My duplex is number 60, if you need to talk to some one I am cool with you coming by. Oh yhea could you throw away my trash?” Gall soon walked out of the cafeteria leaving Cody with both his own mess and Gallen’s

Cody Archer
"One of the doctors"

Cody sat and kept eating his cake, trying hard to ignore Gallen's rambling. This guy definitly had a couple of loose screws inside his head
But being shoved with someone else's tray was something he couldn't ignore

"I'm not your servant!!!"

Fuming Cody finished his cake and put only his tray away. The nerve of that guy

Lantern Fishman by the Sea

Sid Eisley
Sunset was approaching, which had inspired Sid to cut his binging short in favor of watching it. Thus he was only mildly buzzed when he walked out to the surf. It was enough to odd a nice gloss to the scene and make him feel that sitting down would be a lovely idea. He didn't know if the tide came in or out at such an hour, as if it matter much when he was going to get wet one way or another. He sank down onto the sand that hadn't been touched by the surf yet, careful of his tail.

After that it was just a matter of watching the horizon and waiting to see if his feet were going to get wet. He rested his cane in his lap in the meantime and tried not to think of how he was going to get up once night fell.

Cody Archer
Cody had spent most of the afternoon swimming around the shore. Something about the salt water made it felt better on his skin than the lake one. But the sun was setting and he had to return to the village
So unwillingly he left the water and starte searching for his bike. But instead he found someone he didn't know sitting on the beach

It looked like another animal person, though he wasn't completely sure with red light of the sunset. The way Gallen treated him was still fresh in his head and by no means we wanted to have to go through that again
But he had to cross the beach to get to his bike. So he carefully aproached the new person

Sid Eisley
The view of the ocean stretching out before him, Sid decided, would have so much better of he was at least high. Instead it was just... nice. All a few beers could do to help the experience was take the edge off the nicotine withdraw. The latter was for the better, he had to keep telling himself that, because a man can only have so many vices before it stops being cool and starts being sad. As if it wasn't already.

He glanced over his shoulder and realized that with his hair out of a ponytail several inches of it was now in the sand. With an annoyed sigh and turned back to the water. The sight of the kid approaching surprised him, it also reminded him that since his change he was never a pleasant sight.

As Sid waved he tried to close his mouth a little more, but it would only work with him so much.

Cody Archer
As Cody got closer, he realised this people had changed as well. And had a really weird mouth!

Not being able to hold his curiosity, he approached Sid for a better look

"Hi"

Sid Eisley
Sid's eyes lingered on the kid's tail a little longer than was polite. Figured they'd go easier on a kid... figured they'd experiment on them, too. His tongue curled up in what was the sad echo of his habit of licking his lips when nervous. He realized, too late, that had to look weird.

So he tried to make up for it by saying something. "Hey."

He was entirely too sober for this.

Cody Archer
Cody did noticed the long gaze, but paid little attention to it. Not like he hadn't do the same when he stared at the mirror anyway

But he looked curiously at Sid's teeth in return. Why did he had long, needle looking teeth like that? And why was his jaw bigger than the mouth?

"Why does your mouth look like that?"

Sid Eisley
"Jus' lucky ah guesss," Sid hissed. It took all of a second for it to hit him that that was too harsh a thing to say to a kid. "Ah mean... s'whah ah'm becomin'... th-- ssome kinna fish." He sighed in frustration. "Ah'm adjuss... adjustin'."

Cody Archer
Cody was startled by the harshness of the reply for a split second. Whaever he had asked, it wasn't a topic this guy liked to talk about

"Sorry, it's just... I've never seen teeth like that before. Or a jaw bigger than the mouth!"

Sid Eisley
Sid nodded and scratched his chin. He hadn't shaved since he changed, so he was developing a terrible case of hobo beard. "Ih'll likely oh- only geh worssse," he said matter-of-factly. "Teef es..." Sid trailed off and shook his head, words like 'especially' were still too much to attempt.

Cody Archer
Cody looked a bit puzzled, as he tried to make sense of what Sid was saying. For a moment he thought of asking why his voice sounded so strange, but that would probably be impolite

"Seems hard"

Only then he noticed Sid's tail. It was definitly fish looking, but as the sunlight was fading he could swear those dots were glowing

"Is your tail really shining?"

Sid Eisley
The sunset has lost its appeal- there'd be another tomorrow, anyway- so Sid kept his attention on Cody. "Yeh," he said, glancing back at his tail. There wasn't much room for it to wiggle as long as he was sitting down, but there was just enough for it to create a little furrow in the sand. "Mah own perthonal nigh' ligh'. Makess ih hard to ssleep ah times."

He didn't even notice the last word was uttered without incident or lisping or hissing.

Cody Archer
Cody couldn't help to poke the dots on the still small tail. It felt just like scales and not some glowy stuff like he first thought

"Cool"

Sid Eisley
"I guesss," Sid muttered.

His tail flicked away involuntarily at the touch. Sid himself was feeling a little too low to get angry at the invasion of personal space. He may have gotten the random twitching more or less under control, but he didn't see what the use in controlling it yet. Leaning to talk with a mouth like his was his biggest priority, though learning to drink without making a mess was a close second. Smoking he'd given up on. That there was even a list of adaptations to work through depressed him even more. Worse, the buzz was fading, leaving him without any sort of buffer.

Time to change the topic, then.

"Tho... yuh a dolphin or somefin, righ'?"

Cody Archer
"If you get lost you'll be easy to spot"

It was a funny idea, imagining Sid in the middle of the jungle and then using glowy tail to be found. Maybe he could even use it as a lantern if the light got strong enough. That would be neat!

"Yeah. Dunno why, but it's cool. Better than getting a rodent"

Sid Eisley
"Ah thuppossse... Supposse... sh-crap." At least Sid caught himself before he swore. Let no one say he was a total bad influence on the younger generation. As he brushed his hair out of his face he finally took note of the tide. He'd been wrong- though he wasn't sure which he'd been hoping for- it was moving out.

"Wissh ah coulda stayed a mammal," he added under his breath.

Cody Archer
"Is it bad being a fish?"

Cody never wondered about that. He knew there were differences, but he never pondered how much different it could be between them. Being a dolphin only meant getting a tail and the rubbery skin, but that was all he could feel different

Sid Eisley
Sid shrugged. The question made him think it'd be a pain in the a** to adjust no matter what he became, but he still worried about what the future had in store for him. "I'll hafta geh back ta ya on tha'," he said.

Cody Archer
"Oh"

Cody didn't really knew what to reply. He was trying to imagine what it would be like being a fish. Not much different from being a dolphin probably, only having scales and breathing water

"You think you'll choke on air when you change more?"

Sid Eisley
"Ah dunno," Sid said. His brows knitted together in concern. "Ah nevah though' abou' thah."

And now that he did, the frown deepened.

Cody Archer
"I hope not. I don't think I'd like to live in water all the time"

Cody looked back at the sea. Lately he had been inside the water a lot. It wasn't strange, he was becoming a dolphin and dolphins lived inside the water. But he was human as well and there was loads of stuff he loved to do that could only be done on land. Soccer, cycling, playing games, ... No, he would never give up on that

He shivered. The air was getting too cold and he was still wet. Not to mention he still had to ride all the way up to the village in the middle of the dark

"I have to go now. Bye"

With that Cody grabbed his bike and started pedaling before it was too dark for him to see the road

Costume Picking

Cody was holding the letter in his hands. He must have read it 10 times already
Halloween! Besides Christmas, it was Cody's favourite time of the year. Costumes, trick or treating, pranks, staying up late, watching scary movies,... it included everything he liked and is fun as hell

But... he couldn't decide what costume to pick. Last year he went as an Hogwarts student, but so did half of the neighbourhood. Ghost was completely unoriginal and skeleton wasn't far behind. Werewolf would be cool, but there was no way he could pass as one with that tail of his
It had to be something that matched with a dolphin. Something to do with the sea, spooky and cool and...

A pirate! They were awsome, with those outfits, swords and treasure and stuff. And with his dolphin tail he was sure no one would say it didn't suit him. He'd be Cody, the terror of the 7 seas. It was perfect

He grabed the intercom and waited for somone to answer to order the costume. And a few pairs of shorts that actually fit him while he was at it

Cody's Stubborness

Cody Archer
It's been ages since Cody came outside. Actually since his package arrived he only had left the room to hop in the cafeteria to grab a bite and little else
But it was done. He had spent all this time trying to fix his costume in secret. He didn't want anyone to see his pirate outfit before the party, not even to ask Amaya to help with the sewing

So it was time to reward himself with a nice long swim by the lake. He grabbed his swimshorts, a blue new pair he had requested to the labs, since the older ones kept being pushed down by his tail, and hopped on his bike. It was a great day and not even Gallen could ruin it

Newton Filinas
Newt, meanwhile, had wearily returned from hunting out in the jungle for certain materials for his current project. He had to drag his bundle of sticks and gathered long grasses behind him as he hopped, panting as he reached his steps. While he was physically in much better shape than he had ever been with all his hopping and work, he still couldn't help but wish he had a bottom duplex. He supposed the little boy he rarely saw was safer on the bottom level anyway, and repremanded himself for such a selfish thought

Cody Archer
Ok, maybe not ruin but delay. Cody had forgotten to bring his towel, this when he was hlafway there, so he had to turn around and get back to his duplex to retrieve it. Riding wet on a bike was not an option, not unless he wanted to make a rust farm

He was a bit surprised when he saw Newt. For a second he didn't recognized the green skinned man, but then he remembered he was turning into a forg. And that hop was unmistakably froggish

But instead of calling out, Cody silently dismounted his bike and tried to make his way behind Newt without a noise. And as soon as he was only a couple of feet away, he cried out a loud "Hi Newt!!"
Newton Filinas
Newt gave a shrill, terrified croak as he lept into the air, scattering sticks and debris everywhere at the base of the stairs. "AH!"

Cody Archer
Cody chuckled at the frog-man's reaction. He was too easy

"Hi Newt! What are you going to do with those?" he picked a couple odd sticks and looked at them. They were normal stincks, no matter the point of view. Why would he bring them to his room? And for what?

Newton Filinas
"Ah! Ah..." Newt panted, his throat inflating as he turned around fearfully, "Oh- it's... it's y-you, Cody.." He relaxed. No preditors or terrible giant snakes to come and gobble him up. This was always a good thing. "I... I w-was j-just... um..." He shook his head, glancing from the boy, his debris and back again with his oversized, bulbous eyes. "Y-you've... ch-changed!"

Cody Archer
"You too"

Cody looked amazed at Newt. From the distance he looked pretty much the same like last time, but up close he could clearly tell he had gone through another change. What caught the dolphin-boy's attention the most was the huge eyes. And if they weren't eyes he'd probably try to unconciously poke them by now

Newton Filinas
Newt fidgeted awkwardly, not quite sure what to make of his young neighbor, "I... ah... H-haven't s-seen you... er... around and about m-much.... h-have you b-been alright?"

Cody Archer
"Yeah. I've been preparing something for halloween. But I can't show you because it's a secret"

Cody kept staring at Newt's changed figure. It was really cool the way skin shined and stuff

Newton Filinas
Newt only grew more self concious, wetting his lips with his sticky tongue, and then immediatly regretted it. He cleaned them off with the sleeve of his jumper, "H-halloween? W-what... ah...? Oh, th-that's r-right... it's... g-getting close, isn't it?"

Cody Archer
Cody didn't realised Newt's tongue had sticked to the lip "Think so. That's what it said in the note. You're going to the party? What are you going to dress?"

Newton Filinas
"OH... I... I d-don't know..." He mumbled, glancing up the stiars towards his safe spot and back, "I... h-haven't r-really th-thought about it.... er... a jan-jan-janitor, I sup-suppose..."

Cody Archer
"But that's how you're always dressed. Going as your job doesn't count"

Cody glanced around and noticed again the sticks "What are you going to do with those anyway?"

Newton Filinas
"TH-these?" He glanced from his bundles and then back to the little dolphin again, "Oh... er... j-just... um... dec-decorating."

Cody Archer
"With sticks?"
Ok, htat sounded weird. Why the hell would someone decorate the room with sticks?

Newton Filinas
"Ah... y-yes?" It was evident he was embarassed at being caught, juggling the bundle under his arms.

Cody Archer
"You're lying aren't you?"

Cody was smirking. He loved catching an adult doing things they weren't supposed to. Like when his father was trying to fix mom's favourite vase. But he did keep it a secret though

"Come on, what are you really going to do with them?"

Newton Filinas
"I... I told you, I'm dec-dec-decorating," Newt kept his head down even more bashfully, even as he hopped towards the steps clumsily.

Cody Archer
"Come ooooon. I won't tell everyone, promise!"

Cody followed Newt, trying to meet his eyes and show he was being 100% honest about it

Newton Filinas
"I j-just... it's a f-frog th-th-th-th-thing, alright?" He murmured, the beginnings of frustration bubbling up in him as he hopped up the steps.

Cody Archer
"Yeah, so? What's wrong about it?"

Cody's mind was racing, trying to find out something in is knowlege of frogs that was causing Newt to be so shy in telling him. Maybe eating bugs

Newton Filinas
"I d-didn't say anything w-was wrong about it!"

Cody Archer
"Then why are you hiding? Pleeeeeeease, please, please, please tell me"

Newton Filinas
"I'm n-not hiding!"

Cody Archer
"Then what? You're certainly not telling me something, so you're hiding"

Why was Newt being so stubborn? What could it be he wasn't telling him? It had to be something important, Cody was sure of it

Newton Filinas
"I l-like d-decorating m-my h-home w-with st-sticks! G-go... g-go do ch-children things!" Newt finally croaked down the steps.

Cody Archer
Ok, that was the wrong thing to say to Cody

"Liar!! Liar, liar, liar!!! You're hiding something and you don't want to tell me. You're afraid aren't you!? Of what??? Me go around and say it? I told you I wouldn't tell anyone! Why can't you believe me, you stupid frog!"

He just couldn't accept it. Newt was his neighbour and was one of the few people in this island he could actually have fun with. Why the hell he was treating him like a 6 year old?

Newton Filinas
Newt stared down at the little dolphin with a wide-eyed look of confusion. "B-but... I w-wasn't... I..." He wobbled, not sure whether to feel his usual instinctive guilt or anger that he was being accused of lying. He wasn't a babysitter, regardless of what the labs might think! "L-look, n-now... th-that's... n-not how you sp-speak to... to s-someone older th-than you... krrKIT!"

Cody Archer
Cody was being really unfair, but he wasn't realising it. It hurt his pride when people he tought of as friends kept things hidden from him

"I don't care if you're older than me. That doesn't mean you're always right or can just tell me what to do. I'm not a little kid you know!"

Newton Filinas
"B-but... I d-didn't..."

Cody Archer
"You're not my friend anymore!"

Cody went down the few steps and banged the door of his duplex. Maybe a bit too much because it just opened by itself. But right now he didn't cared, he was angry at Newt and nearly let tears run down his face in front of him. Why did the adults keep treating him like a child?

Newton Filinas
Newt opened and closed his mouth a few times befor shaking his head. He wasn't the boy's parent. This wasn't his responcibility. He was just trying to make his duplex more... personalized! WIth a frustrated sigh, he hopped clumsily back into his own duplex to go back to work.

Meeting a Myth

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi put her towel over her shoulder as she made her way down to the beach from her duplex. She hadn't been there since she had changed, but she didn't feel like going farther to get to the lake. She had left her crutches at the duplex, so was walking somewhat awkwardly across the sand in a multicolored bikini and board-shorts. She had cut a small hole in the back for her tail, mumbling curses the whole time.

Spreading her towel on the sand, she sat down, before moving to lie on her back, and letting her eyes shut halfway, so the sun wasn't so blinding.

Cody Archer
It's been a long time since Cody had talked with anyone. The halloween party was a bust because he somehow managed to fall asleep and only wake up the next day. It took him forever to stop getting mad at himself

But today was a nice day and he was really looking foward to a swim. Who knows, maybe he would get brave enough to go into the high sea and meet the dolphins

When he arrived there he noticed someone was alredy on the beach. Not anyone he knew as far as he could tell but apperently that lady had already gone through a change
Cody couldn't tell what she was turning into, so his curiosity guided his feet closer and closer to her without him noticing

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi looked to the side as she saw movement, frowning slightly. A kid...? They even brought a damned kid here? She thought as she sat up, replacing the frown with a pretty smile. "Lusk(Hullo)." Shenzi drew her knees up to her chest, her hands around her ankles, as she watched the kid. He had a dolphin tail out the back, but he didn't seem to have any other changes, not that she could see at least.

"What's your name?" She asked, smiling again as she briefly went over past conversations. No one's mentioned a kid before...

Cody Archer
"Hun?"

Cody didn't understood the first thing she said. For a second he thought she couldn't speak english, until she asked for his name

"I'm Cody. Who're you? And what animal are they turnng you to? You've been long here?"

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed at his confusin, grinning sheepishly. "Sorry. That means hello in Czech; I'm half Czech."

Shenzi blinked slightly at his forwardness, but then grinned crookedly. Makes me think of a certain blueberry I know... She thought to herself, before shrugging in answer to his question. "I'm Shenzi Thompson, and the "Dear Doctors" are turning me into a gryphon, I think. I got here a few days before halloween."

Cody Archer
"Oh"

"Whoa, really? That's really cool. Way more awsome than a dolphin!"

Cody couldn't help to be amazed. Turning people into animals was one thing, but mythical animals? That was simply amazing
He already knew the existance of a dragon person, but this was the first time he was meeting a real myth creature. It was so coooool!

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi raised an eyebrow in response to the kid's reaction. I wouldn't put it that way... "Well, a dolphin at least, you know what to expect. And I think that was probably less painful then what I'll be getting..." She said, nodding her head towards his tail.

"When did you get here?" She asked, leaning back on the towel, propping herself up on her elbows as she looked at him; he couldn't be older then 12, 13 tops.

Cody Archer
"Growing the tail was pretty painful. I vomited the first time. Don't know what happened in the second though, they put me to sleep"

Cody sat on the sand close to her. It was a rather pleasent feeling against his dolphin skin as the tail 'dug' a hole in the unsteady surface
Actually he kept him moving around and digging it further without realising

"In June. I don't know the day it is now though, I don't count the days"

Shenzi Thompson
"December." She said shortly, giving him a sympathetic look. Six months here already, though, granted, others had been here more then a year. But still... This was a kid, who should rightly be with his parents right now.

Her own tail was fairly still on the towel, the end of it twitching now and then in the warm sun. "So do you like swimming Cody? Though that's kind've a stupid question..." Shenzi grinned sheepishly, laughing.

Cody Archer
"What? December already!?"

Cody could hardly believe it was that time of the year already. If he hadn't been told he'd probably miss christmas. And that was something he wouldn't be able to forgive himself, ever

"I need to start writing the letter"

But the question distracted him from his current flow of thoughts

"Hm? Oh, yeah. I really like swimming. I'm way faster than before"

Shenzi Thompson
"Letter?" She asked, before carelessly shrugging that off with a grin.

"Want to go swimming then?" Shenzi laughed again, standing up from the towel and holding her hand out for Cody. "The water looks too inviting to pass it up."

Cody Archer
"It's something I do every year. Otherwise my parents would just give me stupid things as socks for christmas"

The mentioning of his parents casted a shadow over his mood, specially mentioning something as dear as christmas
It would be the first time he'd celebrate it without them. A family holiday with his family. That alone was enough to bring tears to his eyes, even after 6 months of trying to overcome the loss

But he accepted Shezi's invitation without a word. He just took her hand and nodded, trying to rub the tears away from his face

Shenzi Thompson
She saw his eyes get watery, and she immediately regretted having said anything. Kneeling down, she gave him a hug, smiling comfortingly and producing a hankerchief from somewhere. "Here... I miss my parents too. I'm half american, and half Czech, and my foreign side is the one that believes in family ties, so it's been kinda hard for me too. My American blood doesn't care, but my Czech blood wants them back."

Shaking her head, she gave him another smile, before standing up and gently pulling him towards the water. "Here, lets have fun, see if we can't make you forget for an hour at least."

Cody Archer
For a split second Cody was a bit confused by that reaction. He didn't know if he should repel or just hug back
In the end he just let himself fall in that warm feeling and burried his face in her shoulder for a moment, taking the hankerchief to push those stubborn tears away. He just hated feeling loely all the time

"Thanks...." He returned the hankerchief with half a smile on his face, right before he ran like mad towards the water

"Last one in is a rotten egg!!"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi laughed, tossing the little square of fabric carelessly onto the towel, before running after him. She had to think when she moved, to keep her knees bent more when she ran, so she didn't fall over, but she made it to the water a few seconds after him, letting herself fall into the sand and the warm tropical waves. "I'd better not be an egg; a berry's more like it!" She said, laughing still.

Cody Archer
Cody was already underwater, swimming around her. But he could hear her distorced voice and emerged his head

"Berry!?"

Shenzi Thompson
She giggled, grinning as she stood in the water, shaking her hair out. Damp strands stuck to her forehead and neck, but she was laughing. "Berry! I'm a blueberry!" Shenzi said, tugging on her loose braids, the blue vivid against the teal-green colors water.

Cody Archer
"Why?"

Cody wasn't really getting it. Why was she talking about blueberries?

Shenzi Thompson
She grinned again, ducking under the water for a moment before resurfacing. "Mm, cus I've got blue hair. So that's why I'm a blueberry." Flicking her hair back from her face, she kicked her legs, going into the deeper water.

Cody Archer
"Ah! Now I get it"

Cody submerged again and only with a couple of tail kicks he got way further that Shenzi

"Hey! Isn't Shenzi the name of that hiena in Lion King?"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi grinned again, laughing under her breath as she moved her arms under the water, swimming slowly after him. "Mmm-hm. My two friends call themselves Banzai and Ed, and we've got a band called the Hyenas."

Cody Archer
"Really? Why didn't they turn you into an hiena then?"

Shenzi Thompson
She shrugged, but she looked thoughtful. I don't know, really. The symbols of my Czech side are the lion and the eagle, so that might be why." Which was something she was still pissed at Sabin for, though she still hadn't seen him since he brought her here. "Did they give you a reason for turning you into a dolhpin?" Shenzi asked pointedly.

Cody Archer
"That makes sense"

Cody pondered what would be the reasons behind the other islanders he knew

"Oh? Yeah, Aubrey said it would help cure my MS. Don't know why exactly though"

Shenzi Thompson
"MS?" She asked, frowning as she tread water. "What's MS?"

Ignoring another name she didn't immediately recognize, she thought about it. "Well, they're changing your body, so I guess it makes sense that whatever's wrong with it would fix itself."

Cody Archer
"A brain disease that screw up how your body works. But I'm getting better now. My last attacks aren't so strong anymore"

The last one happened while he was in his room organzing his stuff. It was the numbness again, but instead of making completely impossible to hold the book, Cody could still feel the tips of his fingers

He was quite happy for this accomplishment. He finally could stop worrying so much on the attacks and focus on the things he really wanted to do. It was a weight being lift from his shoulders, a wave of relief in this damn island

Shenzi Thompson
She winced sympathetically; she didn't really have any diseases, though she was getting over her cigarette addiction fairly well. "I'm sorry. But I'm glad it's getting better, at least." Shenzi said, grinning broadly as she rolled over to float on her back.

Cody Archer
Cody grinned and submerged again. But instead of coming up right away he stood there one... two... three minutes..... and still no sign of him!

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi was still grinning as he went under, though it slowly disappeared as she floated there for a few minutes, with no sign of Cody resurfacing. "Cody?" She said to the empty air, though she knew better then to think he'd hear her under water.

Cody Archer
The wait lasted a couple of more minutes, until Cody finally resurfaced some distance away, gasping for breath

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi was still looking around when she heard a splash, and, looking over her shoulder, saw Cody floating there and inhaling air like a beached fish. Grinning slightly, pushing away the small feeling of unease that had been growing, she laughed. "Got quite abit of lungs on you, don't you?"

Cody Archer
"My biggest record was 7 minutes. But in the books say dolphins can stay underwater much longer. That's why I'm practicing"

Cody grinned and swam back towards her
Actually his dream was go and meet the wild dolphins, but he was still afraid to face the open sea on his own. He had some bad experiences in the river back at home, the worst one being dragged by the current when he was dared to cross a rope bridge and fell in. And the sea was much larger than a river

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi started looking thoughtful as Cody spoke. "Hm... I wonder what I'll be able to do, besides fly. Books always say different things about gryphons... Only think I've noticed is my eye sight is better." She grinned slightly; that really wasn't much compared to breathing underwater.

Cody Archer
"Fly? That would be so neat. Maybe you could go around and fly with Cassidy and stuff. She's a big winged snake, green with big parrot wings for arms"

Maybe then she could give Cody a ride. That would be really awsome

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed softly, grinning still. "Dunno who Cassidy is, but sounds like she's got quite a mix on her hands... Or rather, scales I guess, since she's a snake." She dropped under the water with a small splash, and swam around for a little bit before coming back up, shaking her head quickly and sending water droplets spraying.

Cody Archer
"I guess so"

Cody got splashed as Shenzi shook the water our of her hair. Considering it a tip to play, he just turned around and used his tail to send a big splash towrards her, making then a quick retreat

"Can't catch me!"

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed again, diving under the water to swim after him, grinning from the tail slap of a splash.

They chased and swam around for a little while longer, before Shenzi clambered clumsily out of the water, shaking herself off before grabbing her towel, the warm sand sticking to her feet as she wrapped the fabric around her torso, grinning over her shoulder at Cody.

Cody Archer
Cody was feeling really happy right now. It's been ages since he played with someone

"Going already?"

Shenzi Thompson
She nodded reluctantly; the kid was nice, and she had had fun, but she was starting to feel a pang of withdrawel, and she'd rather he not see. Besides, she wanted to go take a shower. "Yeah. But it was fun playing with you, Cody." Shenzi said, smiling cheerfully as she squatted down to pick up her stuff. Standing up again, she gave him a soldierly salute, before laughing. "See you again?"

Cody Archer
"Yeah. I'm in the room 51. Or by the lake or here in the beach"

Shenzi Thompson
"Duplex 78. I kinda wander, so just give my room a call if you want to hang out again." She smiled, giving him a quick hug before hopping across the hot sand, giving him one last wave over her shoulder.

Cody Archer
Cody hugged her back and waved as she left, proceeding back to the water, feeling quite cheerful for making a new friend

Changes Hidden Truth!?

Cody Archer
Cody still hadn't left the beach. It's been about an hour since Shenzi went back to the village, but he still didn't feel like leaving the water

He was laying on his back, floating lazily in the water as the sun warmed his body. He was almost asleep, feeling happy as ever as mental images of him riding a gryphon drifted in front of his eyes
Mmm... it really felt good today

Gallen Marcuss
Since Gallen’s changes and the Halloween party, he had kept to himself. Rarely did Gallen come out to talk with folks, locking himself up in his room, reading, taking care of Drake his cat and plotting a way to get cured and off the island. He had tried over and over to contact the labs to try and see if he could speak with his sister, but all he got was static, they were ignoring him.

Thanksgiving had come and passed and finally Gallen started to become stir crazy. moping around his duplex was no fun and he needed to get out. The day was warm and the breeze soothing, he deiced to stroll to the beach. Something in him wanted to go swimming in the clear water. Leavening his duplex with bathing suit on, a T-shirt, shoes on his feet, and his gloves over his hands, he made his way to the beach.

As he cleared the jungle, Gallen was greeted by the sight of someone he rather not see, that little brat Cody

Cody Archer
Cody was completely unaware of Gallen's appearence. That is, until he turned around to let the sun warm his back

"Oh great! Just what I needed"

He was too far to fully notice the man's changes, but there was something funny on his face that caught Cody's attention. His nose look a tad weird

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed and walked over to the other side of the beach away form Cody. He soon pulled off his shirt and kicked of his shoes. The sand felt nice between his toes, but as he looked down he was greeted with the gray scales that had begin to form on the tops of his feet. He quickly waded into the water, hoping Cody would keep his distance and stay where he was.

Cody Archer
Cody felt grateful Gallen kept his distance from him, but not that his curiosity was spartked there was no way to contain it for long

It only took a couple of minutes for Cody to finally give in and submerge. Luckly with the last change and practice he was able to hold his breath for a while, so he'd probably be able to approach Gallen without him noticing and return to his spot before the air ran out

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen floated in the water enjoying the soothing feeling of it. His body seemed to feel more alive in the water as he leaned back to float. The scales on his feet glistened as I lifted one foot up out of the water. It felt sooo good, that he had not seen Cody submerge as he rested in the nice water

Cody Archer
Cody was nearly there when he saw Gallen's foot glinting in the water. Now more curious than never he approached further, maybe a bit too further. His shape was pretty visible and he was closing in fast

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed as he floated in eth water, when he noticed something moving towards him. The he realized Cody had vanished. He soon leaped up, his feet barely touching the ground under the water. s**t what was that thing in the water coming near him….then he recognize the blond hair floating in the water.

Cody Archer
Cody was startled with Gallen's sudden movement and moved away to avoid colliding with the legs, only to hit his shoulder in a rock

He immediatly resurfaced and cried out in pain. The rough surface only scratched away a bit of the skin, but the salt made it feel like needles were piercing it

Gallen Marcuss
“ah haa, I thought that was you.” He then realized the boy was in pain, “Hey you ok?” He waded over to take a look at the shoulder Cody was holding. “ it is not that bad, just the salt water stinging your wound. So sneaking up on me hmmm?”

Cody Archer
"What else should it be? A crab!?!"

Cody snapped and tried to move away from Gallen, but that only made more sea water hit the wound and make him hiss with pain. He couldn't even clean it because his hands were wet

"Yeah, so what?" the stinging was making him snappy. He just wished he could get out of the water to get the pain away

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen finally got footing and soon grabbed Cody, picked him up and with all his strength carried the boy out of eth water, sitting him on eth beach. Soon Gallen pulled out the water bottle he was caring form under his t-s**t and pored it onto the short. Once done he began to wipe it over the wound on Cody’s back cleaning off the salt water. “That should help, and maybe fix your attitude. Then again, I seriously doubt much can fix a brat.”

Cody Archer
Cody complained when Gallen grabbed him and carried him to the sand. He was not a potato bag to be carried around without asking. But he stood still as the wound was cleaned

"Thanks"

While Gallen was attenting to the scratch, Cody noticed well he finally had gone through a change. He had fur, claws and scales? What kind of animal had that? He just kept staring, trying to find a match

Gallen Marcuss
“What are you looking at?” Gallen knew Cody was staring at his changes, “Feel proud that I was wrong and you where right?” His voice was harsh as he got up and walked to eth waters edge, the tattoo of the Celtic family knot visible on his right shoulder blade. “I have no idea what I am becoming, and I am afraid they may have botched…..like those things they had splayed along the path to the graveyard.”

Cody Archer
Cody paied little attention to Gallen's question. He was staring mesmerizedly at the patterns showing in the hairline
But the spell broke off when Gallen got up. Right in time too, because he was about to poke the head to make sure they weren't painted on

"Hm? What graveyard? What things?"

Gallen Marcuss
“You were not ta the Halloween party? Well good thing it was not really for kids. There is a graveyard. The labs techs thought it be funny to lead us up there show us failed experiments and then a graveyard were it seems they have buried there people who came here and died during these transformations.” Gallen’s moved before his mind caught up, then he realized he had said all this to a little kid.

Cody Archer
"No, I fell aslep before goin...... What!?!"

Cody couldn't believe it. Failed experiments, people who died? This couldn't be true. It had to be some kind of stupid joke for halloween. They couldn't be turning people into animals if they could die in the transformations.... right?

"You're kinding right?"

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen looked over his shoulder back to the small dolphin boy sitting on the beach with a sad look, then back to the sea. “maybe we can escape and find a new home…..I don’t know, all I know is I want to find a cure and stop these changes.” His voce shook a little; he was trying not to cry. “I just do not want to ……. So how you been doing, Cody?”

Cody Archer
Cody found everything Gallen was saying strange. Usually this guy was just a plain idiot, but the boy could tell something happend to him since he last saw him. And that got him worried

"Ok, but... what happened?"

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed; he could not tell the boy anymore. “Nothing is wrong Cody.” He smiled as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Cody Archer
"You're lying!!! No one goes around like that when nothing is wrong"

Why, why, why people always kept the truth from him. He just hated it, hated feeling like he was kept in the dark

Gallen Marcuss
“DAMIT CODY!!!!!! People are dieing here and the lab tech don’t give a damn!!! Understand. I was not lying I was trying not to hurt you. And if anyone else has lied to you it was most likely for the same reason.” He stood there angry then he realized he had blown up at the small boy.

Cody Archer
Cody could not believe it. Cody did not want to believe it. But... was that why everyone hated the changes? Why everyone did not want to believe this was true? Because people died?
No, this couldn't be true. It was too much to take, too much to swallow. But... he just didn't know what to think

He just sat there, staring into infinity. He maybe was a kid, but he wasn't dumb. He had noticed the grown ups acted strangely, every single one he had met. He was just too stubborn, too naive to believe that something was wrong, that the changes were more than a new scientific advancement
But then what did it mean his changes? Was it really to cure him, or something worse? He just didn't know...

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen turned around and looked at the blank look in Cody’s eyes. “Cody I do not know exactly what is going on, but…but..” he walked over to him and knelt down in the sand. He pulled the boy to him and held him. “I am sorry.”

Cody Archer
Cody was startled again when Gallen hold him and he tried to shove him away, more out of surprise than anything

"Leave me alone. I'm not a little kid anymore"

This information was way too overwealming. He needed to do something, anything, anything that could restore the sense of normality, that everything was still fine

He ran towards the water, the only thing is this whole place that felt welcoming, secure..... home. It was the only place where he could actually ease the pressure and relax

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen let go and sighed, “ no your not a little kid.” He then watched Cody run back to the water. He got up and soon followed, diving into the surface and swimming a little ways out. he soon spalshed the little dolphin boy "I am sorry little guy. I did not mean to upset you” Oddly enough the water felt relaxing to him

Cody Archer
"I told you to leave me alone"

The last thing he wanted right now was company. Kicking his tail hard and submerging, Cody swam away from Gallen. He had a lot to think about

Gallen Marcuss
Gallen sighed as the young boy swam off. Soon Gallen was swimming back to shore. He soon gathered his stuff and headed back to his duplex. He felt bad for upsetting the poor kid.

Dark Thoughts and Xmas Letter

This last week had given Cody a lot to think about. Was it really true what Gallen had told him? Were there people dying because of the changes?
He could bring himself to believe in it, but at the same time..... the pain of the changes... the sad look in everyone's eyes... he wasn't sure if being turned into an animal was so good anymore

Back when he was still a normal kid plagued with MS, everything seemed hopeless, mundane, dying. No matter what his parents tried, no matter how much he tried to fool himself, the battle against his sickness always felt like a lost cause
But coming to the island not only gave him a reason to be happy again, but he was given a world only thought possible in fantasy. And after a year of despair there was no way his subconscious would let that amazing feeling fade away. But now...

Why did things always had to be so complicated? Why was there always something lurking in the shadows to destroy his life? Why, why, WHY!?! It just wasn't fair....

Cody just sat there on his bed, memories and thoughts floating around his brain like mad butterflies. He just felt so lonely...
But then he remembered something important. Christmas was around the corner right? Maybe, just maybe...

He grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and wrote down a very special christmas list. It was a tradition in his family to do this. Even if he was too old to believe in Santa, at least this way he made sure his parents wouldn't be giving him something stupid like socks
And though they weren't here, the people back up at the labs would surely understand the deep meaning behind the letter. If not everyone would surely know the movie Home Alone and know how important was for a kid to be with his family

Xmas List
Dear Santa,

I know this will sound strange but I don't want any presents this christmas. Instead I want to see my family again even if just for a minute. I don't know how they are but I miss them a lot. Please even if it's just for second christmas won't be christmas if you're not with your family

Sorry if I don't send any milk and cookies but I want my letter to arrive early so you have enough time to get them here

Signed,
~ Cody

Cody looked at his letter, feeling pleased with himself. He just couldn't help to feel a ray of hope. Any kid that was willing to give up his presents would surely get his wish granted. He just knew it

With this joyous feeling keeping the dark thoughts at bay, he grabbed his bike and started making his way up to the labs

Fear of Rodents has Exceptions

Cody Archer
Cody was starving. No wonder after spending all morning and the beggining of the afternoon with nothing more but a sandwitch in his stomach, hunting for large shells and colourful pebbles up and down the beach
He was planning a little surprise with them, but he was feeling so hungry that he decided to stop for lunch in the cafeteria instead of leaving the bag in his room first. But he took it with him, so no one would peek or steal his hard work

He paid little attention to what he was choosing, so a couple of pieces of raw fish made into his dish without him noticing. In the end his plate was so full, someone would easily believe he hadn't eat for days

Chana Cohen
Chana was sitting at one of the otherwise empty tables, munching on a bagel. It had been liberally slathered with cream cheese and piled high with lox and smoked fish. For all the beaver was happy, Chana was happier as she ate a classic brunch. Shame there was nobody to share it with, she mused as she twirled an odd little top.

Then she heard someone come in to the cafeteria. Her first thought, as she turned slightly, was that he was becoming some kind of fish. Her second was that he was so horribly young.

"H-hey kid," she greeted the boy, almost dropping her meal before she set it down on her plate. "Haven't seen you before. I'm Chana."

Cody Archer
Cody was so suprised he almost dropped the heavy tray. He was so hungry he didn't realised someone else was already here. But at least it wasn't still human

"Hi! I'm Cody" he took his plate and sat in front of her, completely curious about her appearence. He couldn't recognized the animal she was turning into

"What's your animal? I don't think I know it"

Chana Cohen
Chana smiled, revealing the prominent teeth marking her serum as a rodent. "Beaver. You can always tell by the big, flat tail," she told Cody. "And yours is...a kind of fish?" she asked. Fish really weren't her strong point, as far as identification went.

She still twirled her toy absent-mindedly. It was the same one Ambrose had given her last year. There was a symbol on each side, carefully painted on. Each time it fell over, Chana would note what it had landed on and spin it again.

Cody Archer
"Oh, right! I didn't saw it"

Cody mentally slapped his forehead. He had seen the Narnia movie, he should been able to recognize her right away
The sight of the teeth send him some shivers down his spine, the memory of a trauma still quite fresh. But he didn't know beavers were rodents like rats and rabbits, so he didn't start running and screaming his lungs out in pure fear

"No! I'm a dolphin"

He raised his tail in demonstration, while he untied the bag from the wrist and started digging in his food
But even though he was famished, he noticed the toy and that sparked his curiosity again

"What's that?"

Chana Cohen
Chana smiled. Cody was a boy like any other...and that would make this much easier. "A dolphin? Wow, that's really neat. Dolphins are beautiful and graceful creatures you know."

She was a bit shocked, though not surprised, when he asked about her top. "It's a dreidel," she answered automatically. Then mentally berated herself. The boy probably didn't know a thing about it.

Cody Archer
"Yeah... but I'm not so sure if I want to become one anymore..."

Cody tilded his head with a completely confused expression "A dreiwhat!?"

Chana Cohen
Chana blinked. That wasn't what she'd expected to hear. "Why not? There are worse things out there...I've seen a couple of them."

Then she laughed. "A dreidel. It's a speicial top that little Jewish boys and girls play with during Hannukah. It's a game!" she explained, twisting the toy around to show the symbols. "Would you like to learn how to play?"

Cody Archer
"Because... I know most people didn't came here because they wanted to and they're unhappy. I thought they were keeping things secret from me, but then someone told me people can die with the changes. It's just like back in the hospital..."

"Hannukah? I've heard about it, but didn't know it was jewish. How do you play it?"

Chana Cohen
Chana frowned. Die? She hadn't heard of anyone dying...had she? Wait...she had. But that wasn't because of the changes... "Well," she said aloud, "I've yet to see anyone die from the changes. And I've been here for a year." And that would be that, as far as she was concerned.

"It's a Jewish holiday, yes, but it gets overlooked for happening around Christmas." She held out the dreidel for Cody to see. "The game is all to do with these letters." She twisted the top and named them as she went. "Nun, Gimmel, Hey, and Shin."

Cody Archer
That didn't put Cody's mind at ease. Stories of people dying from experimental treatments was something he was too familiar with. Uncurable diseases like his was full of them
But if even normal, healthy people died with the changes, then what that would mean to him, someone who already had a faulty system!? Just the though of it scared the wits out of him

"Still..." he shook his head, as if he was trying to get those fears out of his mind

Cody picked the toy without asking and started turning it around in his fingers, feeling and much as observing it

"What do they mean? It's like throwing a dice?"

Chana Cohen
"Well, they're letters. They represent words. Nes gadol hayah sham...a miracle happened there," Chana translated. "It's talking about the story behind Hannukah. But for the game, the letters do make it similar to rolling a die...but different at the same time," the beaver said, trying to make do with Cody's question. She was still unnerved by his tale of people dying of the changes. That was not something beaver or woman wanted to deal with.

Cody Archer
"Weird. And what's the story? And how is it diferent from trowing dice?"

He was really trying to keep his mind fully focused on the toy, but filling his hungry stomach at the same time. The last thing he needed was to get sad again. Specially if he wanted to have his parents with him as a christmas present

Chana Cohen
"Well...long ago in what we now call Israel lived the Hebrews. And they, like many other peoples at that time, were ruled by a Greek man called Antiochus. King Antiochus (for he was a King) did not believe in one G-d like the Hebrews did. He believed in and worshipped many gods. He said that all the people who lived under his rule had to do as he did. He said they had to worship the same gods as he did, wear the same clothes, eat the same foods and so on.

"The punishment for defying the king's order was death.

"Many people were afraid of the king. So they did as he was told. But a man named Matthias and his sons refused. He had five sons: Eleazar, Simon, Jon, Jonathan and Judah Maccabee--that means Judah the Hammer." Chana studied Cody's face and decided to interrupt her story a bit. "Can you guess what Matthias and his sons did?"

Cody Archer
Cody nodded as the story went on. He had studied about the greek gods back at school and still remembered a thing or two about wars caused by different beliefs, like World War 2

But he couldn't think of anything that that man could have done

"No. Started a war?"

Chana Cohen
Chana laughed. Perceptive kid. "Well, yes, eventually he did. You see, he was very mad at King Antiochus for destroying the sacred Temple in Jerusalem. So, Matthias and his sons organized enough people to start a small war. Judah led the band, and they were called the Maccabees.

"The Greek army was much bigger, but the Maccabees knew the land and they were able to defeat the Greeks. Victorious, they returned to Jerusalem. Everyone was celebrating.

"Then they came to the Temple. All of the decorations were wrecked; some were smashed, others stolen. The great Menorah was bent out of shape, and the eternal flame had gone out. The Maccabees were distraught. What could they do? There was only enough oil left to keep the flame going for one day. It would take eight days to make more!

"They filled the lamp and lit the flame. Then they began working to make more of the special oil. Others helped to clean up and fix up the Temple.

"It was a miracle! For eight days the eternal flame burned, though all could swear there had been only enough oil for one.

"And that is why Jews celebrate Hannukah. It lasts eight days and nights, just like the oil did in the miracle. We remember the bravery of the Maccabees against the mighty Greek army as well. That's why the letters on the dreidel say 'a miracle happened there.'" The beaver woman looked over at her audience of one who'd sat quietly through the whole thing.

Cody Archer
"Ah! That's really cool. Reminds me of that miracle Jesus did with the bread and the fish"

It was always a great story when a little army managed to stand up to a much bigger one

"But how do you play it?"

Chana Cohen
"Uh...sure," Chana said, deciding to not pursue the issue of Jew not knowing a thing about Jesus, except that he'd been Jewish. There was even a rumor that he'd been studying to become a rabbi...

She'd debate it with Stewart later, she decided.

"When you play it, each letter has another meaning. You play with pennies, or tokens, or beans, or whatever. Everyone has their own, and there's a pile in the middle. They all take turns spinning the dreidel. If it lands on gimmel, that player gets to take everything in the middle. If it lands on hey, that player takes half of what's in the middle. If the dreidel lands on nun, nothing happen. But if it lands on shin, that player has to put one of their tokens in the middle." Chana cocked her head as she looked at Cody. "Simple, right?"

Cody Archer
"But... if you get to take the tokens from the pile so many times, doesn't the game get boring? Or end really soon?"

He took another spoonful out of the plate and started chewing, still unaware of the amounts of raw fish and sea food that were in the middle

Chana Cohen
That reminded Chana that she had yet to finish her bagel. She took a bite and only once she'd swallowed it did she respond. "Does playing tag or hide-and-go-seek or heads-up-seven-up get boring?" she asked, turning the tables.

Cody Archer
"No, but it's not the same thing"

Actually Cody had never played heads-up-seven-up, but he did know how to play hide & seek and that didn't involve tokens
As for this game he never played it but if people started taking so many tokens in the beggining, then what would be the point of fighting over the last ones? It would be like monopoly, very fun in the beggining, but awfully boring in the end

Chana Cohen
Chana shrugged. "You're right, they're not quite the same. That's 'cause a lot of people like to play dreidel with real money. Then they get to keep what they've won," she told the boy, and focused on finishing her bagel. Mmmmm...some things she'd never lose her taste for.

Cody Archer
"Like poker!?"

Now that really raised Cody's interest. He always had asked his father to teach him how to play it, but he was always told he'd have to be of legal age first, or his mother would kill them both

But when he unconciously raised himself off his seat, the bag slipped off the chair and spilled its contents all over the floor, sea shells, pebbles and sand that got mixed with it

"Ah crap!"

Chana Cohen
Chana blinked in surprise. "Yes, like poker--" she was saying when Cody's bag opened up all over the floor.

"Oh, here! Let me help you with that," she told the boy, getting down on hands and knees to help. She grabbed her thick, flat tail in one hand to keep it from crushing the shells and began sweeping what she could into one central area under the table.

Cody Archer
In one side Cody wanted to shove her away and keep her from seeing his collection. In the other he wanted help getting them out of sight as soon as possible
The second side won. She already seen the shells anyway

"Thanks"

Pretty soon the shells and pebbles were all back into the bag and this time a knot prevented the same from happening again. Only a few of them got smashed, from falling under the pebbles. He'd have to take those out back at his room

Chana Cohen
"You're welcome. It's a nice collection." Chana's attention returned to her plate and she seemed to surprised to see that her bagel was finished. However, there was still lox and smoked fish on the plate which Chana began eating with a fork.

"Always happy to help," she told Cody.

Cody Archer
"It's not for me"

This time he actually slapped himself, though just to shut up his mouth. He almost spilled his super secret project. Maybe he just should go away before he started blabbering everything out

Chana Cohen
"Oh." Chana couldn't really think who Cody would be collecting the pebbles and shells for...maybe he thought of Dr. Lockheart as a mother-figure, like Colche did? There was another idea niggling at the back of her mind...but she couldn't quite reach it. The beaver yawned. She'd eaten...now she could go back to sleep...right?

"I'm sorry," she said, barely preventing another yawn. "But I think I'd best be getting back to my duplex soon."

Cody Archer
"I have to go too. Need to take care of these and stuff..."

His plate was nearly empty, despite the big quantity of food Cody had put on it. And he wanted to go home to finish his project on time. Speaking of which...

"Er, do you know what day is today? I know we're in December, but I don't keep a calendar"

Chana Cohen
Chana blinked back sleep. "Um...tonight's the last night of Hannukah. I think Christmas is in a few days...?" She yawned hugely. "'Scuse me! It's been great talking to you Cody...come visit me sometime this spring...26..."

Yawning all the way, Chana left the cafeteria for her duplex. There, she could sleep for as long as the beaver wanted after she'd lit nine little candles.

Cody Archer
A few days! Great, so he still had time

"Thanks! I'm in 51"

He quickly put away his tray and made way to his room. If he'd hurry, the surprise would be ready in the afternoon

Gift Giving

Finally! It was finished!!!
After spending so many hours collecting shells, getting the paints, coloring them and doing all the wrappings, he had finished!

This was the first time he was giving gifts. Being still a kid his interest was still in receiving gifts instead of giving them
But because this year he had given them up to be with his parents again, why not giving a present to his friends? Problem was he didn't remember half of their duplex numbers, so he ended up making one for every single room

He looked proud at his work. 100-120 little packages were lined up in rows of 10. They were all wrapped with ordinary paper and string, but that's because he really wanted to surprise people with them. No one would expect a hand painted shell or pebble just by looking at it
But right now it was way too late to be out and about delivering presents. Maybe tomorrow early in the morning...

In Cody's room Christmas morning are two packages wrapped in shiny Chrismas wrapping paper and tied with elaborate red ribbons.

The first one contains a 9x12 photograph of Cody's parents, framed nicely in a waterproof frame.

The second is a boxed set of the anime One Piece, with subtitled and dubbed options. There is a small card included that says
To: Cody
From: Gallen.

Worst Christmas Ever

Cody couldn't be more devestated. A few hours earlier he had woken up to find 2 nicely wrapped presents waiting for him. Though he specifically asked for none, he couldn't help to feel cherful for receiving gifts
But that happy feeling was quikly replaced by the conscriting pain of sadness in his heart

It was a photo of his parents. Not them in a flesh, in a joyous reunion after being months apart, only a picture of them smilling to the camera
Tears were flowing down his face as his heart was slowly screaming in pain. All hopes were destroyed, all dreams torn in pieces, nothing more than the screaching howls of loneliness were left to fill the void in the middle of his chest
He just felt like dying. Hell with cure. If he no longer could be with his family what was the purpose of keeping on living?

This cycle of misery and grief kept on for the rest of the day. Cody's mental turmoil went into a self induced deprivation, ignoring the needs and demands of his body
He didn't eat, rest or even went for his usual swim. He just lied there on his bed or tried to transform his room into war area. He hated everything there and he wanted to physically show it, to make the accursed duplex reflect the anger and pain in his heart

The lack of food and the stress here visible on his body. As hours passed by he started to tremble, losing his balance and even delusion and sugar drops as his anger was no longer able to keep him fuled up
Eventually his MS kicked in again, as if the physical and mental strain he was forcing himself through provided the perfect time for it to act up once more. It wasn't as bad as before, more spaced between attacks and not as strong, but under these conditions it felt like 10 times worse (mostly because his mind was no longer making much sense)

But finally exaustion took over himCody, but even then he was restless. He lied on the pile of clothes and bed sheets, twisting and turning in his sleep as he protectively grabed the photo close to him... the only thing he now had of his family

The other gift lied forgotten in some dark corner of the room. This was by far the worst christmas ever

Welcomed Dogish Company

Cody Archer
He couldn't take it. Or at least his body couldn't
Despite of feeling like dying, Cody loved life too much to simply let go. And in such state of weakness there was no way he could keep ignoring his needs. And right now the biggest urge was food

But there was no food in the mini fridge. For a second he tried to reconsider and just get back to bed and let sleep ease his pains. The stomach didn't seem to agree though and with a large growl he clumbsily opened the door and started making way towards the cafeteria

Everything was fine in the first half of the way, but as he entered the second his energies started to fail and his eyes to unfocus. Without anything to fuel him, Cody's body couldn't keep up with the effort and shut down to save the little energy it still had left

He was already fainted when his body came in contact with the ground, breathing barely noticable as he simply laid there under the bicycle

Brian M. Grant
Brian was out walking- as was the brown and white dog attatched to him at the hand by a leash. Blitzen strove to move faster and pulled ahead, only to pause and investigate some nuance of the neighbourhood. His tongue lolling and his bright eyes dancing about excitedly, the dog was the first to notice Cody. Brian allowed himself to be led to where the boy lay, and broke into a run upon seeing the crumpled figure.

"Are you alright??" He gasped, getting to his knees beside Cody and looking to try to see what was wrong. Blitzen whimpered, unnerved, and began barking. The shrill, unhappy noise rang in Brian's ears as he spoke to the boy, watching his chest for signs of breathing, feeling his wrist for a pulse, and checking around for anyone who could help. "Can you hear me? Oh s**t oh s**t, what's wrong with you?" The dog continued to bark.

Cody Archer
It took a while for Cody to recover his senses. The first thing he noticed was the loud barking ringing in his small but still existing ears

"Shut uuuuuuup!"

He grabbed his head as the sound made it ache. His vision was a blur, distorcing everything into shapeless blobs of color and movement. And his body felt heavy as steel

"What's happening? Where am I?"

He tried to remembered what happened but his brain was sluglishly slow. The last thing he could recall was being hungry... and he still was as his stomach made the favour of telling him

Brian M. Grant
"Blitzen! Quiet!" Brian said sharply to his dog, who shifted from paw to paw and continued barking until the command was repeated as Brian held his muzzle firmly closed with a hand. Blizten whimpered, but stopped barking.

"Sorry," the redhead apologised, looking Cody over with concern apparent on his features. "You're in the village. I'm not sure what happened. I was just out walking and saw you lying here," he glanced at the bike, "you didn't wipe out and hit your head, did you?"

Cody Archer
Cody tried to focus on the person talking, but his eyesight wasn't completely restored. He could tell the blob had orange hair, but a bit of white and black as well. His mind must be playing tricks on him

"I-I don't know..." again he tried to recall what happened, but his hunger kept him from concentrating. The stomach started growling demandingly as he was now active again

He tried to get up, but he was still too weak. His limbs didn't obey to the movements as they used to, shaking with the effort but showing no results

"I'm hungry"

Brian M. Grant
Hungry... if his first concern was hunger, and not pain, then that was what Brian would tend to first. Maybe it wasn't as drastic as it had first appeared; the boy seemed unable to stand. Brian felt that he'd be able to carry him, and prepared to do so.

"I'm going to pick you up and carry you to the cafetaria, okay? It's not too far from here. Once you've got some food in your belly we'll find someone to take a look at you and make sure you're alright. I don't think you're hurt more than a few scratches from falling, but it's better to be sure. Okay, ready?" Blitzen moved about, sniffing at Cody and then at Brian, back and forth between the two. He whimpered still, but didn't bark.

Cody Archer
"Okay"

There weren't words that could tell how happy he felt for this man's help, even if it meant being carried there like a little kid
His appearence didn't even came to his mind, otherwise he would feel even more grateful

His mind hadn't made the connection and realised there was a dog present, so when he felt the cold nose come in contact with his skin, he twitched in surprise

Brian M. Grant
Brian carefully lifted the boy from the ground, murmuring that they could return, later, for the bicycle. He kept the looped end of the leash around his wrist as he carried Cody to the cafeteria with some degree of awkwardness, due to the boy's changes, and somehow managed to avoid tripping over Blitzen. The biologist considered how strange it was to be lifting a human child in that familiar way that he once lifted sedated wild animals. He wished he had some help, but determined to make do. It wasn't too long before they reached the building, but Cody was heavy, and Brian was thoroughly worn out by the time he was able to settle him sideways into a cafeteria chair. Regardless, he stayed on his feet. "What can I get you to eat? Anything you don't like or are allergic to? Actually, nevermind, just tell me what you do want."

Cody Archer
Cody stayed mostly motionless as he was carried, only shifting his tail slightly to allow some room to his leg
When sat on the chair he managed to stay somewhat upright by using his arms and his tail to support the position. But his head flopped on top of the table surface. His body was still in energy saving mode

"Fish!!!"

If his brain was working properly, he'd probably ask for other things to complement his diet. Prawns, squid and cake! Maybe some vegetables if he felt like it

Brian M. Grant
In his hurry to get some sustinence into the boy and give his back and arms a rest, Brian had brought the dog with him right into the cafeteria. In any other circumstance, he would have left him outside out of respect for the establishment but found the urgency of the situation to be more pressing. He tied the leash to the table, instructed Blitzen to sit and stay, and, with one nervous glance at Cody, went off to fetch some fish.

He wasn't certain what kind of fish was wanted, or what would be available to islanders at this hour, not quite a mealtime when more elaborate and specific dishes were served. Regardless, he managed to locate some premade sandwiches and, procuring a pair that were very clearly tuna, brought them back to the table. As he went, he grabbed a bottle of water. "Here you go," he said, setting the tray down in front of Cody, "Do you want the whole sandwich, or should I get a fork and you can just pick out what you want?" He knew, in hindsight, that the boy was probably in no mental state to make that kind of distinction.

Cody Archer
Cody didn't even gave him the time to finish the sentence. The smell and sight of food so close at hand was enough to summon that little energy left and have him dig in the food so fast he nearly choked
A little part of his brain was disapointed the lack of freshness of canned tuna, but his stomach was pretty happy with the choice. That is, until there were nothing but crumbs left. And he was still hungry

"More!"

Cody gave his plate to the red haired man for a second round. In other occasions he would get the food himself, but right now it was the stomach in charge, not the head

Brian M. Grant
"Yes, sir," Brian replied faceticiously, glad to see Cody was perking up a little. He went off a second time and returned with a third sandwich, the last of the tuna. The rest were ham and chicken. He placed the food down on the tray and took a seat, ruffling Blitzen's ears when the dog came to greet him. "Feeling better?"

Cody Archer
Cody gladly picked the other sandwitch and started eating, this time a bit slower

"Yeah. Thanks"

He spoke between bites and soon it was gone as the others. He was feeling a bit better now and though his movements were still a bit wobly, he managed to get up and fill his plate with a new round of food
Cody returned with a pile of shrimps, octopus salad and a large, raw salmon steak, along with a generous bowl of fruit salad

"Want some sir?"

Brian M. Grant
"No thank you. And you can call me Brian. This here is Blitzen-" the dog looked up as he heard his name- "like one of the reindeer, from the song. What's your name?" He watched the kid eat, petting his new dog with one hand.

He wondered what had happened to the boy. How long had he been out cold? Was it simply hunger or exhaustion or a combination of the two that had caused him to pass out? Really, he ought to take him to the clinic attached to the cafeteria building. But Brian hesitated to draw him away from his feast, now that he seemed to be perking up.

Cody Archer
"I'm Cody. Hi Blitzen" he petted the dog before turning his attention to the food

One of bad things about fish and seafood is that they were quickly digested, so Cody steadily had been increasing the amount of food he ate, though he hadn't noticed
Right now his main consern was to quiet down the demands of his hunger, so he started digging in on the salmon. He still hadn't figured out why he was craving raw fish so much, but he made the happy discovery that eating fish steaks wasn't as disturbing as eating anything fish looking. Actually it tastes quite good, so soon he found himself attacking the raw fish section instead of the cooked one

While he was eating he observed Brian more carefully, now that he could actually focus on his features. He realised that the white and black patches on his red hair wasn't his imagination after all, and that started awakening his curiosity

"How did you get those cool patches?"

Brian M. Grant
"Oh, this?" He asked, running his fingers through his hair, and then through the fur that covered his neck. "It's the markings of an African Wild Dog. The have a natural blotchy, patchy fur pattern. Have you ever seen a picture of one?" Brian held out his arm, turning to show Cody his fur-covered elbow as the pattern there was more distinct.

Cody Archer
"So you're changing as well? Oh sorry... about the cool part"

There was a distinct change of behaviour now
Before he was happy for filling his stomach and meeting such a nice guy, who he mistaken for a normal person. But now he turning his face to his plate, looking ashamed and guilty

So he tried to turn the conversation to a different subject

"You've been here long? Did they let you bring your dog?"

Brian M. Grant
"It's okay," Brian said, smiling, "I don't mind talking about it. I've been here since the end of October... around two months. And this guy here hasn't been mine for long. He was a Christmas present... from the labs, I imagine. I'm not sure why. But I'm glad for the company, and he's already well-trained. Isn't that right, Blitzen?" The dog looked up again and was rewarded with an ear-scratching.

Cody Archer
"No... it's not that....."

Cody was feeling worse by the second. Ever since Gallen told him about the possibility of dying by the changes his attitude towards the results were changing... or at least he tried to see them by the other perspective
And the mentioning of christmas presents didn't help. It was still way too fresh in his memory, all the sadness and the loneliness that one gift brought him

Brian M. Grant
"What is it?" Brian frowned, misinterpereting Cody's reaction. "Are you feeling alright? Maybe we should go to the clinic, now that you've had some food?"

Cody Archer
Cody just curled himself in a ball, tail pressing close to his body to make himself as small as possible. His body was clearly shivering, while the sniffing told he was starting to cry

"I don't want to be alone anymore. I don't want to die. I want to go hoooome"

Brian M. Grant
"Die? You're not going to die. Nobody's going to die. You're safe here, you've got lots of people looking out for you." Brian chewed his lower lip, unsure of what to do or say. "Do you have any friends that we can go find? Someone who looks after you?" In retrospect, it was rather startling that such a young child was being used as a subject for these cruel experiments. "You're not alone. I'm here for you, okay? Who else do you know here? I'll find them for you and all of us will look after you." This sudden change of attitute seemed to come out of nowhere. What had he said to have triggered it?

Cody Archer
"People die! Changes can make people die! And I got MS!! I don't want to die"

His sobs grew louder and he kept shooking his head. He didn't had anyone as far as he considered. His parents were gone, he didn't get to spend christmas with them. He would never be able to see them again. The people in this island wasn't his family. He was alone

Brian M. Grant
"Oh, Cody." Brian frowned, bringing his chair over to where he sat. "It's going to be alright. You'll be alright," he reached out and rubbed the boy's shoulder in a way he hoped was comforting, "there are lots of doctors and scientists here and I'm sure they'll do everything they can to make sure everyone here is healthy."

Cody Archer
The rubbing did felt good, but didn't help calming him down. He had gone through a lot lately and all was quite overwealming, especially to a 10 year old boy who tried to face the world on his own
He just rested his head on Brian's chest, tears weating the shirt as the sobs kept on

"But-but they're the ones doing it!"

Brian M. Grant
"They are, you're right, and it's unfair of them," he said evenly, frantically trying to figure out in his head who would be able to take care of this kid, and why on earth they would abduct someone so young and fragile for their wicked purposes. He tried to keep his voice relaxed and soothing. "But even if they're doing this to us, they're also responsible for keeping us healthy." He'd missed that part about serums killing people. "If I knew someone who was a doctor before they were brought to the island, would you feel more comfortable talking to them than to the doctors who work in the island labs?" The clinic he and Aislinn discussed so frequently seemed to look more and more realistic and needed around this place.

Cody Archer
He was starting to call down, mostly because he wasn't still fully recovered than anything else
What Brian just saidkind of make sense. But since Aubrey had told him he would never see his parents again he had no reason to trust the doctors

"I think so"

He sniffled and tried to rub away the tears and runny nose on his sleeve. He hated to look so vulnerable in front of anyone. He was not a little kid anymore

Brian M. Grant
He was glad to see the poor guy hadn't gone into hysterics. Brian just hoped he stayed calm this time. "Now, is there somewhere you'd like to go? Someone we can go see that'll make you feel better?" Oh by all that is good, he hoped that someone would look after him. He certainly wasn't up to the job.

Cody Archer
"The lake"

Actually Cody would prefer saying the beach, but he didn't felt like he had enough energy to travel all the way there and then back again

He tried to get up, but apparently his legs didn't agree. There was a familiar numbness on his feet that had settled while he had been crying. But luckly it wasn't the effect of the MS, just the lack of proper blood circulation from sitting in a curled position for so long. Problem was that made his already unsteady walking even more unbalanced

Brian M. Grant
"I'll walk you there," he said, getting to his feet and untying Blitzen. The dog stood ready to go at his heel, looking up anxiously, and Brian wondered for the hundredth time why the labs had made a gift of this handsome fellow. "Do you need any help?"

Cody Archer
"No"

But Cody was obviously lying. Because he had no sense of touch on his already small feet keeping balance was a lot harder than normal. After a couple of steps he completely lost it, not falling because he managed to grab Brian's arm right on time

Brian M. Grant
Brian's expression was skeptical. "Your sense of balance seems to disagree. I don't mind helping. Really." He held his arm out, bent at the elbow. "Here, you hold my arm and I'll be like a cane for you to lean on. Much more dignified than being carried, eh?"

Cody Archer
Cody just nodded in reply. He had noticed that the more he changed the harder it was for him to keep his balance. But he related that to the growth of his tail and the smaller feet size, nothing else

The short trip to the lake was completely uneventfull from his part. But strangely he didn't felt like going in the water. Instead there was a bigger feeling of warmth in staying close to Brian tahn going out for a swim. But he didn't realise that

Brian M. Grant
When the approached the water, Brian made certain he had a good hold on his new dog's lead. He had no interest in taking a wet, smelly pooch back to his duplex. Blitzen gave his fears no grounds, as he seemed equally disinterested in getting too near to the water, let alone getting into it.

'Now what...?' Brian thought, and looked to Cody to see what he expected him to do.

Cody Archer
"I usually just go out an swim. But.... I feel too tired for that"

Partially that was true. With the food and the last day's strain still depleted strength, sleepiness was starting to settle
But he really didn't know what to do now. He didn't felt like swimming, he was too tired to take a stroll and he definitly didn't want to return to his duplex, to be alone again
What he really wanted was just to be there, to be in the company of someone older and not having to worry for a change. God that felt good

Brian M. Grant
Brian could see that this boy just needed some rest and some company. He sat down on the edge of the lake, instructed Blitzen to lie at his feet, and smiled at Cody. "I'll stay with you for a while." And he did.

Only a few days after Christmas, more turmoil is in the air for Cody. His legs hurt.... but it's a differnet hurt than the MS.

The rubbery skin tingles all over your tail... and your hands tingle too, as any hair on your hands falls out as the skin becomes slippery and rubbery, adopting the same color as your tail as the webbing between your fingers thickens.

The worst part starts with your hips. You feel them... pulling in, your body trying to streamline itself. Your legs are pulled tight against your tail as the rubbery skin texture overcomes them... pulling them tigther and tighter until you can't move them separately. Your thighs, your calves, your feet, all merg in with the strange tail appendage.

Finally, only some of the skin-color on the tops of your thighs shows in the blue-white of your tail. You can still see the outline of where your legs once were in your tail, still feel some of the structure, but all in all, the muscle and flexibility of your tail far outshadows your legs.

On the bright side... your MS has gone almost completely into remission as the tissue in your legs is nearly entirely replaced, your physiology becoming so different.

It's likely that by the end of the change, Cody wouldn' tbe conscious any longer.

when he wakes up again.... he's not in his duplex, or at least not his old one. He is lying on a small 'shelf' of water that's been padded with a spongy material. his head and shoulders lie outside of the sloping pool on a dry portion of what looks like half a duplex.

Cody has been relocated to an aquatic duplex, this one much shallower than Awen's. A gradual slope leads from the dry portion of the room - which has a wheelchair sitting near by - to a deeper pool. A door is built into the glass wall (that has plastic coverings that can be pulled down for privacy) that leads out into the rest of the lake.

All of your things have been moved into the dry-part of the room.

More Changes and New Agony

Cody wasn't feeling so good. Actually he was feeling quite miserable and it wasn't just in his head
Since he woke up his legs were aching like mad, a pain he wasn't familiar with, like the numbness or shaking MS usually caused. Maybe it was coming up with something new for a change!
But as hours passed by it clearly wasn't the case. MS never lasted that long on him

He was forced to put his plan of going to the beach aside. There was no way he could go anywhere while the pain lasted. Even the small trip from his bed to the doorstep hurted him like hell
