Marksman in the Chaos

Leonardo sat against a wall, on a corner in a far side of the city, away from the dock. He barely could stand being away from the sea, but the night was empty, as were his pockets. He pulled a pipe from his coat, tobacco in the end. He lit it, and puffed slowly, lighting and then exhaling the plant. He breathed out calmly, letting the hot smoke go into nothing before his eyes.

Andrea laughed for a brief moment as she entered the threshold of the tailor shop, then crossed over to the shop-keeper as a sly expression crossed her face.
"This one is new." Andrea said with a sarcastic gesture to Chris; then she looked back to the tailor as a small knife, no longer than her second smallest finger slipped into the grasp of the hand that had motioned towards the new crew member.
It was a silent threat that worked well enough in most situations. Though if this man wanted to try and be difficult then Andrea could be most accommodating.
"Know one thing about this enterprise Chris..." she stated in a voice reminiscent of her younger days in Auldenbluff. "There is no such thing as earned prosperity, nor of luck merited by innocent and true actions. Such things are taken by twisted words or by the level blade of a sword. If you wish to survive, then you take what you need, and you do what is necessary..." She briefly glanced at the tailor before continuing. "Of course...certain trivial leaps on the way to prosperity are not fair to some...but they are gain to others. And as such the balance is rectified. "

Chris's head jerked up at Andrea's entrance, her cropped hair swishing slightly.
She drank in Andrea's advice, though a small part of her rejected it. Her family had themselves been no better than ruffians in their treatment of the lower class.
Her head jerked up again as a familiar bulk shadowed the door. So the blacksmith boy had tagged along as well.
Nodding roughly, Chris slowly reached out and lifted the bag.
"I 'pologize Andrea. I should've known that'd be the way things work." Chris bowed her head briefly towards Andrea sliding three one pieces out of her purse.
"Payment, an' a lil' 'couragement then, for our friend." She raised her gaze to the tailor and held it there steadily. " To remind 'im how gracious we kin be."
Her gaze returned to Andrea.
"Wuld that be sa'sfact'ry?"
She still wasn't of the opinion that she had earned any money, especially not the two pieces the Captain had put down as payment, and insisted on paying.

"Do as you wish then...but it would be best if we finished with this bussiness soon; places to go and things to do, as you would imagine." she retorted with a brief smirk.
Casting dry glance towards the tailor, Andrea then turned to leave the shop to wait outside for the others.
As she waited outside the shop she couldn't help thinking how much the new crew member Chris was like how she had once been. Back when Andrea had held idealistic views on the world, back when dealing with a sickly mother was her only duty.
Duty...that was the word that encompassed the society that her parents had dwelled in, what had been expected of her as well...
But just as she had; in time perhaps Chris would come to realize the primitive yet subtle workings of the world.

Levowitz flopped onto the shore of Hilt like a dead fish, gasping with his eyes wide open. Climbing onto the sandy beach he pulled the seaweed from his garb and swept his once fine and lush hair back over his shoulders. Stumbling into the great pirate town he saw bales of hay aflame, men drunkenly falling from rooftops and women leaning into buildings or telephone poles aloof with powdery makeup and tight corsets.

"Just...As I left it.." Andrew breathed slowly, waking straight through the town square brought no attention to him, men often came back to town drenched from either being capsized or trying to get rid of a hangover. Arriving at his pub of choice "The hellbinder" he walked inside and took the nearest two-seater table. He'd arrange for a room at the inn later, for now he needed a drink--something warm to get his blood moving again, get the rubbery stiffness from his legs. Andrew had to lay low until he could find a ship to steal, and men to sail it-- ambitious was he, most men down on their luck joined a new crew as a grunt; but Andrew always found he wasn't fond of taking orders.

Robichaux had left earlier, leaving the two ladies to their business. Walking to the docks to get some fresh air, he saw a man standing by himself, a small light to his lips and smoke curling above his head. Walking to this man he sidled against the wall and spoke slowly, his voice a throaty growl. "They say if a lone man stares at your ship in the dead of night..That be bad luck..Are ye starin' at my ship boy? What's got your eye and ire...?"

"Ye need not worry about Your boat, it is the stas that dance across my gaze this fine ev'ning." He piffed again, and exhaled slowly. "What attracts ye to me, mate?" He looked over to the older person, obviously much bigger than he, but Leonardo was not afraid.

Propped an arm against the wall, his stature towering over the other man. "Oh I told ye allready, but ye look like a sailor. A few men died in our last bout and our general recruiter is out picking dresses at the moment so I would suppose finding swabbies to fill the holes now rests on my shoulders. Would ye sail under a pirate's flag, young one? Follow the skull, until you're one yerself?"

Leonado smiled, and turned to the man. The smoke drifted out of his mouth, giving him a haunting appearance. "I have thought of it. Me andmy ship have done missions that some would condemn to men of the skull." He puffed again, thoughtfully. "I will not serve ye.... if ye shall continue the offer, my ship would be a friend in the fire, savvy?"

Robichaux returned the grin and opened his coat a bit to display his pistol and cutlass, placing a hand on his hip. "Oh aye..And here I thought I might leave town without being tempted to steal someone's ship. There's no honor among thieves boy, I don't form alliances I only make enemies. And of my enemies I make water-logged corpses. If ye won't be under me then you're in my way..Ye best stay out of Captain Soloman Robichaux's way mate."

"I'd put your weapon away, old man." Leonardo growled. "It isn't safe, your rheumatism could act up." He puffed again, seemingly unchanged. His look calculated the opposite, however, analmost cold glance.

laughed, playing along "They say the ocean breeze be great for rheumatism, it's why I'm a pirate mate, to always be with that fine air. I just happened to become the best along the way...And you'd put me weapons away, but I'd brandish it. I'm a pirate mate through and through; you're some slimy sailor who on mayhap be puffing the wrong stuff." Robichaux Stood up straight, opening his coat wider and returning the gaze.

Leonardo stepped back, and used his ppe as a kind of hammer, trying to smash it into the guy's face.

Took a jump back and launched a kick at the oncomer's chest, unsheathing his blade "Right! I see how it is!" fire coursed throgh his lungs, and rum through his blood as he tightened his fists; ready for a scrap.

As Leonardo fell back, he drew his pistol, and leveled it at the man's gut. He hit the ground, and jolted, his pistol aimed slightly higher, but he held it up still. "I am not as much of a child as you must think I am."

"Ye're as much a fool as I thought!" At this Robichaux reversed the hold on his cutlass and hucked it like a spear at the man's shoulder.
