SoloThe day had ended up being something of a lazy one for Liryn.
He had spent most of the morning lazily reading through bits and pieces in his room at HQ, before going out on a meandering wander about.
Early afternoon had found him making cat eyes at the back door of a bakery where one of the assistants had a soft spot for cats, and Liryn had managed to score both a bit of bacon from the assistant's break-time sandwich and some behind the ear scritches before the assistant had to go back on shift.
Late afternoon had found him at the park, up on the hillock that over time he'd come to see as his little hillock, purplish eyes watching the comings and goings of those visiting the park for the most part, although there had been a few moments here and there where he had abandoned the hillock in favour of trying to score more scritches from some of the park visitors.
It hadn't really worked in the most part, although Liryn counted it a success that he had managed to score a stroking session from a woman and the young child with her. The young child enthusiastic in both strokes and cuddles and the woman managing to unerringly scritch in just the right spot behind the ears.
He had purred happily to them, content in their company - after all there hadn't really been much else to draw his attention and Liryn wasn't one to turn down strokes or scritches - at least not for the most part. Eventually however - as with all good things - it had come to an end and Liryn had ended up returning to his little hillock.
It had been late by the time that he'd finally ended up making his way back to Orah's apartment, although in large it was probably due to the amount of time that he had spent wandering around on the lookout for auras after leaving the park–
Not that any had been forthcoming.
It was perhaps, because of the latter that he had found himself so tired, why the bed in Arian's room had seemed particularly inviting - but whether it was one, the other or even a mix of the two - it hadn't taken long for sleep to take him when he had made himself comfortable and closed his eyes.
It was hard to tell whether he dreamed or not, but eventually there had been a sinking feeling - one too strong to ignore, his stomach lurching as paws scrabbled futilely in an attempt to stop the inevitable.
Liryn fell.
And fell.
And fell - could feel himself tumbling deeper and deeper into the darkness.
It was hard to tell just how long he spent falling into a darkness that continued to get deeper and deeper, but eventually Liryn felt his paws finally and painlessly touch down onto solid ground.
It felt almost like a dream, when he looked upwards from what (at least according to his surroundings) - appeared to be the bottom of a ravine complete with a night sky full of stars that seemed almost impossibly far away - but if it was a dream then it wasn't one that he could wake himself from.
The sound of a throat clearing caught his attention, an unfamiliar figure shrouded in white smiling at him from not too far away.
Liryn found himself giving a cat grin back, the figure - for all its unfamiliarity - not one that felt like a threat.
He cocked his head puzzled as the figure rummaged through the folds of their shroud as if looking for something, his purplish eyes puzzled, but he grinned again when he saw the sparkling star-like platforms that had formed from the glitter that the figure had tossed into his eyes - because whilst the climb looked like it would be a long one, the platforms looked so pretty.
Liryn padded towards the first one–
It was time to climb.
It was hard to tell how long he climbed for, although Liryn climbed.
And climbed.
And climbed.
First one platform and then the next and then finally the last.
It was only after he reached the very end of the last platform that he found his eyes opening, only for his purplish eyes to stare disorientated at his surroundings - surroundings that were very much not the top of a dark ravine, but rather Arian's room.
Something clinked against a front paw as he wondered about whether it had simply been a dream, purplish eyes peering down at it almost automatically–
Only to find a small jar of shimmering glitter nestled on the bed.-- 770 words --
