Rolling his shoulders, he was starting to feel winded not to mention every shot made him ache inside.

Kyle had initially thought that he was done for. Doomed to be digested by the creature and become one of the many half-dissolved nameless hands like those who had fallen before him. Just as he was about to close his eyes and give in to the warmth and silence that was around him, he heard the first round of shots that Melvin fired around him, the hands that were in the bullets' path swelling momentarily until they burst in an eruption of bubbles while the others retreated in the interest of self preservation.
Grateful for the aid that was rendered by the two hunters who came to his rescue, he shakily thanked them and resumed his ascent to the next chamber lest those hands decided to come after him again. The climb apparently took a lot out of Kyle, especially with his compromised state after surviving first the feeder fish then the hands that nearly overwhelmed him which had the Sun trainee lag behind the other hunters who were already hacking away at the huge heart following the instructions that Melvin gave over the headset.
Deciding that he would do his part as well, he called his weapon to his hands, waiting for an opening when no other hunter or the weapon that they wielded would be in the way before tossing the shurikens out towards the still beating heart.
