I do know of her." Roland replies as he now leans back on the fence like Kaiden and looks to the skies remembering when he first met the noble girl. "The Ashford house is a Lionian family known for their dairy farms and their tree farms used for lumber in the empire. Ashley is actually friends with Princess Esther and helped us once by supplying bows for our men before the rival army could show up and take us out." "Wait a sec." While there was a lot to breath into what Roland said there was one thing that stuck out to Sarah. She would puff her cheeks in a pout and then slightly tug at Kaiden's arm to nab his attention. "Just why are you asking about that girl anyway Kaiden!"

Kaiden felt Sarah tug his arm then he smiled,"Its okay love, I just wanted to know who she was..I just never heard of the Ashford family until now.." his hand remained on her waist but then he was about to say something until one of the guards yelled out,"PRINCE KAIDEN!!"
One of Kaiden's ears perked up as he moves Sarah out of the way with his other arm while her catches the arrow in mid air and the tip of the arrow was just inches away from his face. A couple of guards went over then Cearo said,"Kaiden?" but he flinched as the prince kindly handed him the arrow then Kaiden said,"you might want to train them on their aim.." Cearo chuckles nervoulsy as he takes the arrow,

"Kaidne, you saved me." She says and blushes to be held by him like this, this moment she wishing could last. But for the sake of the prince Sarah had slowly pulled away as more eyes were drawn to them. "Keep at it men. Eventually you'll hit those straw dummies." Roland didn't want to intervene but he felt like he had to say something. It was a miracle they didn't hit the prince, not to mention the maid as well. Yet, since the prince was so blessed it was alright to chalk this up as a good time, right? "Say Kaiden, how good are you with a sword?" The prince ask curiously.

Kaiden smiles as Sarah was surprised then he moved his hand to stroke her cheek with his thumb,"You welcome love.." then he heard Roland ask if he is good with a sword then he shrugs,"I'm decent..staves and daggers are more of my area of expertise.." he flexes his hand that caught the arrow in mind are.
From what Roland and Sarah can see was a long red line across his hand that left a red mark but it didn't bother him as much as it should.

Of course she still hadn't heard anything about the talks between Roland and her brother Aldon, but she was confident things would go well. Naturally while her thoughts were on how talks had gone, she gazed at the flowers nearby and sipped the ginger tea. It had been a some what lonely time considering Aldon was busy with the planning of his wedding, Kaiden busy helping the guards and mother helping the soon to be new queen with her duties, but at least she had gotten to see Roland. Even her dear friend Sarah was busy showing the new maids about the castle on top of her usual chores, but the solitude wasn't always a bad thing. Today however, she would be grateful for even the slightest bit of company.

There was always some kind of a monkey's paw clause attached to thoughts like this; indeed there must have been reasons why she relished those times of solitude in the first place: stress from the job; the expectations, hormones, loneliness--for it does, in fact, breed via fission--encroaching psychosis, swelling feet--wait a minute...
It was these times, when one might begin to notice a lack of excitement, that chaos was surely on its way back 'round again. It was just a matter of timing, really; no need for all the deep mystique.
This was to the predator's advantage, using the stillness of the late summer air to mask her footsteps-- ...The water is most still before the crocodile strikes...

Earlier that week the two of them had been at it, playing their usual game of spy vs. spy: a dart in the doorway; a hot cup of porridge--with the nice honey--a series of most unfortunate falls; a get-well-card from the doctor, a very special tea time...
Yes, it had been business as usual. In fact, there had been something of a deadpool going in the palace: which first: will the spunky one kill the quiet one, or will the sleeping giant finally roll over on this yappy lil' pup? Oh, and one might've known it, if they were some genius empath, by the moonlit bouts had by the kitties, Pelican and Sancho.
In any event, the two did have a nice way of saying hello. Either it was a kind word from the "elder" sister, or it was a warm. warm hug from the spunky sibling. Entranced, perhaps, by the silvery locks of Athena, Ayane had locked on; definitely better to administer a special hug by mistake than to let a day go by where dear sister mightn't feel the steadying beat of love in her chest...

..."GOTCHA!" Splash splash splash. The game at the side of the river kicked up their spying legs to see what on earth was going on. Ayane, red-faced, determined, growled adorably as she wrapped an arm around Athena for a half-Nelson. Yes... The half-Nelson! Simply poetry; in its unyielding power lie the simplest and most undeniable of truths.
"Now we'll see who... Who... Who~" She began to sing. Tapped her feet a little too, and before anyone knew quite what was happening, the cheery maid was polishing the princess' shoes, whistling and carrying on as though nothing had even happened--certainly not leaving a warm spot underneath the lady's chin! ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁

Naturally it crashed to the ground, shattering and spilling the tea within all over the grass. "Hey! Let go!" She cried not knowing her assailant. "Let go already!" She squealed once more, before the maid finally did as asked and she was able to see the girl. "Honestly... sneaking up on a person like that..." She mumbled with a soft sigh before moving to pick up the broken pieces of the tea cup, despite the maid working to polish her shoes. At least she had a little company for the moment, even if said company had just mistaken her for someone else.

Be that as it may, the feeling was not mutual; mistaken identity was never pleasant company, no matter how much one tried to dress it up. Ayane, rosy alabaster, smiled pettily at her princess. She was already stooping to pick up the pieces! This simply would not do...
"Oh, nononono! This simply will not do, mistress," --didn't we already hear that? Anyway, the help was there, piecing the teacup and saucer back together, her eyes and hands showing a similar sparkle in the midday sun.
"I am terrible sorry for your cup, milady," she bowed. Really, the place had been quite clean; there was little wonder why someone might get a little stir-crazy... ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁x

There were starlings coming to drink from the quickly cooling and evaporating pool, chirping more sharply, either warning against or promoting for it, louder than they had been so that, for a moment, there was a bit of a barrier, a thin divider on which the conversation could rest between them. Ayane gathered herself quickly, careful not to spill the hazardous shards in her hand.
"It is good that you are out on such a nice day," she said making with the small talk. "Is there any way I may serve you today?" ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁

"I'm not helpless silly, but thank you." She murmured before turning her attention to the starlings that had come to take advantage of the spilt liquid. Naturally she smiled at the sight, placing a gentle hand on her baby bump at the same time. "Some company would be nice. It's been a bit lonely as of late with everyone working so hard on their usual duties. Though it tends to feel a little like they've been avoiding me." She murmured softly while turning her attention back to the maid. "Oh and you needn't be so formal with me, just Athena is perfectly alright when no one else is around."

Ah, music again! Athen's laughter seemed to blend into the chirping of the birds like a fugue. For one reason or another, though, the lovelies did scatter as the porcelain princess moved to dispense with the formalities. Honestly. Such an odd trend about the realm now. But it made Ayane stammer for just a moment: lips moving with no sound; eyes following the shadow of a clever crow for as long as they could before bouncing back to Athena's court.
"Ye-Yes, of course..--" processing... "--Athena." And now a smile. There was a certain magic in the air today, yes? Probably. The young phoenix crossed her wrists in front of her.
"Forgive me, but I haven't had the pleasure of tidying up after your beloved; I do hope everything is alright..." She was keeping track of some beat with the flexing of one knee--boop boop boop--as she stood there, taking the brunt of the late morning sun for the princess. "Ah! Forget it forget it. I wouldn't dare hear echoes: 'that one's a writer, she is, with that imagination,' 'Give 'em some time in the estate and the high art drives them absolutely batty!' 'I'll bet they hand out nice plots to those who scare off enough tourists''--tourists, yes, with the raging fad of sipping tea from one's own porch as the brave ones count coins on the table and try to forget the smell of ash, barring it from their senses as it enters them slowly in each bite: settling, wrecking, tourists! --"P-Please... "Yes everything is alright and I tend to tidy up after myself most days. Although as of late I've been overprotected and not allowed to do much on my own." She replied in a gentle tone, indicating that the staff, among others, were being a tad bit too attentive given her condition. Of course she took note of how the young maid was taking the brunt of the sunlight and chose to move a little so that they were on what she would consider even footing. "These past weeks I've been well, despite the morning sickness. Though that's nothing a bit of ginger tea doesn't fix. Other than that I've simply been a tad lonesome. It's not easy being with child and having no one to really talk to.... Even my beloved Roland isn't here to bounce names off of, though that in itself is a different story. I don't even know if he and I will be together before this child is born." She replied with a soft sigh before smiling once again. "Tell me, how do you like working here at the castle? Has Sarah, mother and my brothers been kind to you and your sister?"

Over-protected? Ey, does that mean Ayane should just bugger off then? No, no... She said she wanted company--Agh! but the company of royalty is protection; how could one be expected to be a healthy, bright face for the public if they were exposed to it all the time? Perhaps mentally Ayane was standing there with a hand to her chin, the other resting like a model's at her hip; maybe she was allowing herself to wander--maybe her thoughtful face looked an awful lot like her listening face, this day in azure heat with a pair of thin coral lips as her subject.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Let's start off small, hm? "A lady shouldn't have to suffer through without her beloved in such condition; might I ask why that dashing prince of yours lends you space where so many others would take?" ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁x

Life in the castle had been good to Ayane. She and her dear sister where expecting rejection and perhaps hostility on arrival in the proud draconic nation--letting the fact this was the most Zalto place possible in the realm aside for a moment. They instead were put to work with a quick bow and warm but busy smile. After about a month of this, Ayane making certain she was cleared of suspicion, the game recommenced much to Emi's dismay.
"Ah... Unfortunately, I haven't the chance to speak with any of them at length," she admitted with a flick of the iris. "Sarah and I had tea once--In any case I do expect there'll be plenty of pleasant talks with all of them once things settle a bit." Something occurred to her then.
"In fact, I haven't seen much of dear Emi lately. Has she been re-assigned?" ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁Current EC: 50

"He has been in talks with Aldon that I'm not allowed to attend. He is trying get permission from dear Aldon to marry me, and I'm hoping those talks go well. Roland and I want to be married so that we can bring this child into the world and raise him happily." She murmured in a soft tone before chuckling a little. "In all honesty us being together when time would allow is what caused this mess. I'm in this state dues to making a mistake." She added with a soft sigh before smiling warmly at the young maid. "I'm sure you will have the chance to speak with each person in time. As for your sister Emi, I don't believe she has been reassigned. Perhaps she's simply helping with other chores, or waiting on mother, or maybe even helping ready things for Aldon's wedding." She replied before biting her lip in thought. There would have some sort of notice through out the castle had a maid been reassigned, though with everything goin on in these past weeks it was possible they had forgotten to mention things.

"Impossible! Then the rumors are..." False, though true enough in some ways; what had been circulating was that there was some sort of affair going on--tragedy! Then again, what might have been more treacherous was the boring let-down that it was an issue of parental controls set to Hulk. Oy vey~ Could there not be any intrigue! ... Well, you know what I mean. Such was the intensity of the shock printed on Ayane's face, hand held to her mouth left carelessly ajar by some word she'd already forgotten. ❁º°‘¨ ¨‘°º❁x

"Ah, thank you milady," managed Ayane with a smile to match. "It isn't easy, adjusting to a kingdom full of dragons, I mean--" and here visible sweat down from the temple to the cheek--"but, if they are willing to have us, we will do our best to make sure all your events are happy..." Her eyes faded down a bit.

If you're speaking of some other rumour than I'd like to hear of it please." Athena replied calmly before looking up to the sky a bit, letting her thoughts wander to how things had gone with between her love and her brother, until her attention was once again drawn to the maid once again. "We're very happy to have both you and your sister here at the castle, goodness knows dear Sarah needs the extra help keeping this place in pristine condition." She said with a slight chuckle at her own little joke. Her dear friend was always working hard to keep things in working order and seeing her have more help was heart warming. The two new maids would give Sarah a little extra time to spend with Kaiden after things were fully dealt with after all, though it wasn't like the two lovers needed help in finding time with one another by any means. At the mention of her feelings towards her brothers wedding she smiled slightly and shook her head. "I'm not completely sure what to think about my brother being forced to marry the emperors daughter, but he does seem to be a little happier around her. So perhaps their wedding will be a bright step in Zalto's future, and for his sake I'm glad he chose Elentya (might have spelt that wrong) for his bride. I suppose in that regard, yes you're right. The wedding is to be a celebration for the whole kingdom." She murmured with a slight sigh and soft giggle before once again shaking her head. "I can only hope my own future will hold the same joy Aldons wedding shall bring the kingdom.... Oh and please don't repeat what I told you about Roland and I wanting to marry. Aldon doesn't wish for it to reach the public until things are fully settled between himself and my beloved."
