Cat was thankful support had shown up when it did, now that the bird was down though he left the room and Cat eyed where the bird lay. She couldn't just leave this window open to further attacks, so she dragged and pushed the heavy desk the woman was cowering behind when Cat had first entered this room. She shoved it upright against the broken window. She wiped the sweat from her brow and took the drapes that the bird had become tangled in- shaking the dead thing loose- and tied them around the desk to provide it with a small measure more security before heading our of the room and locking the door behind her, it would be one more barricade in the birds' path.
The plan to move toward another window to barricade was brought to an abrupt halt as a scream cut through the birds ruckus. She turned, watching as a group began to head for a child--one she remembered rescuing--and threw herself in front of the group. She brought her whip up in a sharp motion that sent the birds reeling as they tried to avoid the leather. Some of them did, but others were knocked away, gashes appearing in their bodies, as the leather cut.
Brian fired into the swarm, and was disappointed to find that they were dodging his arrows by parting around them, just like in his first battle with another Chosen. He knew it wasn't the same birds (two big dudes had made sure of that) but were they learning? He shook his head and notched another arrow.
They were still just birds. Big, physically impossible metal birds.

When she tried to take a shot, one of the birds slammed into the wall near her window she was firing from. Startled, she screamed and nearly dropped her bow, the arrow clattering to the ground. Useless. Gritting her teeth, she picked her gear back up, hoping to get another shot.
It was good she ducked when she did, because a fronking huge sword came whizzing by.
"Rob!" she sneaked when she came back up. "Jesus, have you been drinking? I know that's sort of your thing, but more water next time, luv!"
She laughed as she gave his shoulder a shove and then she was drawing another arrow onto her bow and aiming it, releasing for a clean shot at another bird. It hit and the bird sheared off course.

Sylvia gave a sigh at Beth's comment and shrugged, "Welcome to our new job, I guess." She looked about and tried to figure where to go next as the others dispersed. Unfortunately, a bird broke through a nearby window as soon as she turned to find another room in need of reinforcement -- and a call for help followed. Sylvia turned to see Misha trying to stop up the breach with her shield, which wasn't very big. Sylvia debated running over with her tower shield, which was bigger, but would also require her force behind it; perhaps better to search for a somewhat better alternative.
"Hold on!" She remembered seeing a settee in a hallway around the corner, and ran off to fetch it, waving Beth after her -- it wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing. "Let's see if this can help," she grabbed one end and began dragging, only pausing once Beth had reached the settee as well and could take the other side.
Once they each had a handle on one end, she continued into the room and called ahead of them, "Hopefully this will work a bit better without wearing Misha out as much," she tried to offer a smile. "Do you just need a cushion, or the whole seat?"

Just for good measure, Zebulon found a nearby cart that would normally be used for bringing food out to the dining area.
Today, it was going to be used as a way to make sure this door was not budging, even when he heard birds slamming themselves against the hotel outside. He hoped they were doing enough. Zebulon had no interest in ending up face-to-face with this swarm without any protection.

Beth quickly ran after Sylvia and helped her lift the settee, though it took more out of her than she thought it would. "I'd much rather be doing this than flailing around with my whip!" She cheerily, if strainedly, replied.

Furniture was going flying...and weapons, apparently! He glanced off in the direction of what appeared to be a pitched sword. Nobody was hurt. That was good. He smiled softly and flew another arrow at the birds. One dropped out of the sky to the ground. People had become rather good at dodging dead birds, it seemed. How much longer would this go on? How much longer could it? The constant fortification was clearly helping, but eventually they were going to run out of things to push up to the windows while sentient chunks of metal heaved themselves in through windows.
Most of all, who had started all of this?!

"Maybe I should take up the bloody bow," Rob grumbled, praying he wasn't turning red in the face out of embarrassment in front of Misha and Sid. ESPECIALLY not Sid. He didn't know Misha at all, so he didn't know how much ribbing he was in for from her.
He turned away from them and sheathed his greatsword in its back scabbard, then smiled at the two women lugging the settee into the room. "Need a hand?" At least he couldn't fumble a settee like he had his sword blows. Hopefully. "Cushions and stuffing can be used to fill the holes in the window," he said as he bend over to help carry the couch. "We can use the settee itself to further block the window."
It seemed for every bird struck down--whether dazed or dead--two more seemed to appear in its place. She threw her arm forward, watching as the whip wrapped around the bird's neck and gave a yank. It plummeted but she didn't have time to see if it was dead. Another hole seemed to be starting to grow in the wall to her right. Crap.
The birds were just -- never ending. "When are the speakers going off?" He took a deep breath and let it out as the sword impacted another one of the damn birds.

She was a good fighter, she believed in herself, but when it came time to either help fight back the birds or help fortify the hotel it was a no brainier. She missed as much as she hit and she didn't want to make herself look like a fool out there. Instead she decided to help fortify, finding everything she could to block the birds out. At seeing a couch she looked for someone to help her bring it to one of the windows.
"Anyone want to help me move this to the window?" She was strong, training had done that, but she wasn't strong enough to move the couch alone quickly though if no one came to help she would have no choice.
Mercy smiled and perked up a bit more when she heard the familiar voice of Rob and Sid, jumping over the chaos to see if she could find them. She spotted a head full of rainbow then quickly made her way towards it, trying to be as careful as she could not to step on anyone or get in the middle of some arrows. She wasn't paying enough attention [ sad considering her profession ], tripping over her own feet, face heading straight for Sid's back.
If she were falling in slow motion, she would've said nooooooooooooo just before smashing her face into something hard.
