Triumphantly, Fury swallowed the last clump of grass she'd pulled up. Last, she figured, because the obelisk reacted for one last time, glowing so bright she had to turn her head against the light before it faded away. Ah, but there was still some light left in it. While Fury would have liked to rest, yes, she couldn't help but be strangely drawn to the monument, approaching it for another look -- a touch, even.
Shifting her weight, she balanced onto her back legs, standing to touch the obelisk with her remaining front leg, green eyes studying the runes before tracing up its height. But there's nothing new here, aside from the light show, and she felt, frustratingly enough, her legs beginning to ache. Falling back to three hooves, Fury makes her way to one of the cheetah stones once more, curling up onto it to survey their work and, of course, get some well-needed rest.

Half Truth winced in pain from the sudden flash of light. She waited for more lights in the sky- but none came, and as Wildflower Breeze returned, she realized they weren't quite done. She nodded, then caught herself in a yawn. Her back and neck were aching- they'd gotten a lot of hard work done in a relatively short amount of time. Even though they weren't done yet, there was time now for rest. But before that could happen, there was one thing she needed to do. She paced up to the obelisk and stared at it, cocking her head first to the left and then to the right- and then tapped it with a hoof. Nothing happened. She didn't expect anything to happen- but it needed to be done. Slowly, she returned to her little group.
"Well," she said, flopping to the ground in the shade of a stone, "I'm beat. And there's not a lot of water around here... guess it's time to chew grass stems. If you aren't sick of the taste from pulling 'em up." She grabbed a few loose stems and chewed them. They really weren't all that bad. "Bet they'll skip this bit in the legends, though. "And then they all ate a lot of grass" isn't the most legendary thing I've ever heard."

Minstrel had been facing away from the obelisk pretty much the whole time, which saved him from seeing stars when it flashed. He did note that it had emitted light, though, and turned to look at it, head tilted similar to a bird studying a bug.
Suddenly he had an urge to touch it. "That's odd.." he says to no one, the need to touch the stone hadn't happened until after the grass was cleared. Maybe that's important? He thinks, walking over to the towering stone.
Standing in front of it, with no idea what exactly to do, Minstrel looks at it for several long minutes. Finally he leans in, pressing his ear against the side, standing still to listen. After a few moments he shrugs and walks away, slightly embarrassed he'd thought the stone might actually make a noise.

They do not have time to rest for long, however. Only a few hours later, the strange symbols etched into the grey obelisk seem to be glowing faintly. Anyone who was present when the first obelisk in the swamp was claimed will recognize the sight. The soil - dappled with rocks - seems to be glittering with reflected light and the etchings on the large flat stones now glow as well. They have already passed much of the day in exploration and clearing the grass. The sun is setting. Perhaps they should be working together to get a better idea of what the area looks like... OOC Welcome to Part 2 of the To New Horizons metaplot update. This roleplay will run much like Part 1. If you participated in Part 1 or the travel ORP and plan on continuing, please roleplay using the same kin. If you did not participate in Part 1 or the travel ORP, you will not be at a disadvantage. Please choose one kin to participate in this section of the meta. Your kin was present for the entirety of Part 1 and the journey here, but did not end up doing anything significant. All players should post in bold green when attempting to interact with something in the vicinity of the obelisk. Remember to be courteous, and have fun!

A very, very small part of Fury could have groaned at what seemed to be the obelisk beckoning, again, for something to be done. She snuffed that weak part out immediately, however, never allowing such thoughts to exist for long as she rose to look over the rocks once more. There were very obvious trails made up of the smaller stones, conspicuously color-coded. From the cheetah stone she stood on, Fury could see orange and brown stones leading away from opposite sides.
She chose the brown, stepping down onto the stones perhaps a bit roughly, then walking upon them with careful balance. She felt a bit like a lamb playing in a stream, the way she'd seen hers do, but carried on anyway because, as always, it was something to do.

Soldier of Songx She chose the brown, stepping down onto the stones perhaps a bit roughly, then walking upon them with careful balance. The stones are easy enough to walk over being flat and smooth, the make a strangely satisfying sound against Fury's hooves. Sometimes the stones are too far apart for her legs to reach, but it's easy enough to step off and then pick up the path again on the next brown stone. There seems to be no reaction from the Obelisk though.

It didn't take long -- certainly not as long as if she'd had to battle through the tall grass that had existed before -- for Fury to reach the other cheetah stone the brown path led to. As she had done before, she climbed onto it, looking to the obelisk for any 'reaction' to her fairly simple action. Even if there was nothing, it had been a nice way to stretch her legs before the real work had to get done. What, would they have to dig up the stones next? She could do that. Puzzles really weren't her strong suit.

Soldier of Song As she had done before, she climbed onto it, looking to the obelisk for any 'reaction' to her fairly simple action. When Fury climbs on top, the stone suddenly begins to glow, softly like moonlight, as if there is light emanating from the ground beneath it. The glowing etching beneath Fury's hooves is of a running cheetah does not grow any brighter, but also does not dim. From her place on the stone and without a better idea of what the entire area looks like, she can't tell if anything else has happened.

ANNOUNCEMENT
RP staff is going to sleep, so please do not perform any actions since we won't be awake to respond to you!
Please do feel free to post to RP and have your characters discuss what to do. It takes team work to get a better idea of what the full picture looks like and sometimes it can be useful to share what you see with everyone!
An announcement will be posted in this thread when RP staff are back online!

ANNOUNCEMENT
The meta is now re-open for actions!
Your kin look around and clearly there is something that needs to be done but nothing they try seems to elicit a response from the obelisk. Perhaps they need to work together to put together the pieces of what they see to get a better collective view of the area....

Lull in Sunlight had also taken flight above the obelisk, keen eyes taking in the stones that were spread around. It looked like there was a certain flow of the stones that lead like streams to the glyph-stones. She began to fly low, blocking out the things around and focus on each path. There was an idea; whether it was right...
The gryphon squawked, landing nearby the north stone, before it vanished and the mare took its place. She huffed at the lingering hunger pang for fresh caught fish and turned her attention instead to the kin.
"Following the trails to each marked stone makes a path," she began after she'd corralled the most active participants together. "No matter which stone you start at you can make your way to each by following them but there's no telling which stone is the first if you have to reach all of them..." she explained.

From where Fury stood on the stone, even with all the grass cleared, the view wasn't the best. Maybe everyone should share what they've seen to make sure that everyone is seeing the same thing....

Wildflower Breeze rose from where he was resting with Half-Truth and Roses In Bloom and joined the small crowd gathering near the northmost stone, to share what he had seen from the air. Not that the mare who had led their expedition didn't have that angle fully covered, as it were, but a second voice to confirm her statements certainly couldn't hurt.
"There are several different colors of stone," he added mildly, his earlier excitement suppressed by weariness. "Perhaps that could provide some clue as to the proper order?

And here Fury had just picked a stone and started, just to start. She gave a snort at these two repeating what she'd already figured out, or at least she assumed thanks to the light under-hoof, but spoke up respectfully. "I've got this stone glowing," she tapped a back hoof for emphasis, and maybe a little impatience. Should she continue on, or stay?
Fury could see a trail of lighter colored stones, cutting into the brown trail she'd just walked on, even. Ah, she should probably mention: "I followed the brown stones," she motioned with a nod to the cheetah stone across from them, to the right off the obelisk, "-- to here."

Lull in Sunlight sighed, turning her attention to Fury, "I see that you have an idea of what I was speaking about, my intent was to explain it to all who may not have such a clear idea of the surrounding area as those of us who can fly." There was a surprising amount of respect in her voice as she spoke to the other doe. As for what to do... She turned to include Wildflower Breeze in the conversation. "The colors or perhaps the glyphs themselves but as we have one kin who has followed a tail maybe we should continue it? The worst that can happen, so far, is that we are wrong and have to start over..." If her knowledge of the obelisk was correct, they'd likely see something in the stone's light to clue them into the latter. Or so she hoped. OOC Here's the complete image pasted together to form a whole picture in case anyone is confused or needs some reference.
