Congratulations! Two Finds: Low-Level and Very-Low Level!

It may've been too dark last night to see because you certainly would've noticed this otherwise. Right outside your camp is a small bag of trail rations (good for two meals), and 5 Gold!

User ImageBlake tilted her head for a moment while Rowan spoke of the bow and archery as though her knew a thing or two about it. "Guess Carmillion doesn't leave any room for error, huh?" she murmured. For the longest time, she'd thought that the young man was solely one of the sword, but given his military experience, it would only make sense that he'd know how to deal with more than one weapon. Sure, people had their specialties, but there were always factors that had to be taken in account. Was the kingdom really so ahead of their game? As soon as the bow hit Blake's skin, she registered that it was mostly steel. That made it lighter than the adamantine, so it wasn't as ridiculously tough to pull the string back, though Rowan had been right about the string's tension. It had already been some time since she'd practiced in the first place. It'd probably be better to practice on something a bit lighter. Blake pulled back the string and acted as though she was going to fire the weapon.

"Huh? Oh yeah, alright. I'll try not to bother you," the elf replied when Rowan stated he was going to bed. With how tired she was, Blake wanted to do the same, but firing this thing once wasn't going to hurt. It was definitely easier to draw back with this one than the other. She took aim at a tree across the way before creating a steel arrow, the substance initially looking like a ribbon moving its way up from the bow to her hand. When it solidified, Blake took the end between her fingers before firing. Welp, that is totally not going where I wanted it, she thought as soon as the arrow whistled from her fingertips. Guess I'm gunna need a lot more practice than I'd hop- A strange sound caught her attention, and Blake looked up toward the trunk at which she'd been aiming. The arrow had...veered toward her mark...?! For a few moments, all she could manage was to look incredulously at the arrow before down at the bow. Is that your property? The girl spun around toward Rowan who seemed as though he was already asleep, oblivious to the event that had just occurred. With a sigh, Blake picked up the other bow before placing both in the bag the steel had been initially. Even the bear was already asleep...

After making about three more blankets from one of the materials on the bedroll, she was finally going to get some rest. That didn't leave any promises for her dreams, though...
Hey, I know you're busy, but if you could hang out with me, just for tonight, I'd really appreciate it, Custas...

The sound of chirping birds woke Blake up. Groggily, she pushed the layers off of her before stretching. Rowan'd probably kill me if I sleep in at all on this trip. She wasn't quite sure if he, himself was up yet or not and was honestly afraid to look. What she did see, however, was a strange bag on the edge of the clearing. The woman raised an eyebrow before getting up and moving over to it. Food? At the sight, her stomach groaned. She snatched up the gold before turning back to camp. "I found breakfast~"

It took Rowan quite a while to get to sleep, and the amount of sleep he managed to get was not all that great either. It was only a few hours... which was normal for him at home but not out here in the forest. The young man would have done a lot better if he had not been turned back yesterday, definitely. Unfortunately, he could not look at the past and change it, and as such there was no reason to contemplate how much better he would be feeling right now had everything gone right. You just gotta deal with it, Rowan. He thought to himself, sitting up just in time to see Blake walking back over to him and shouting that she found breakfast for the two of them. He was not sure about whatever food she found... yet there was not much of a choice in the matter when they were living off the forest and whatever they had bought. "Give me some then... I guess." Rowan stated, taking some of the food and eating it so that he could at least build up some sort of strength for the day. Once he was finished, the young man stood up and stretched a little bit.

"Well, as long as we avoid that area of the forest, we shouldn't be running into any soldiers again. Unless they started moving through the forest, we won't see them." Rowan stated, unsure of whether or not the soldiers would remain in the part of the forest that the two of them had found them in. "Either way, let's not waste any time lounging around. We're already a little late heading out." He commented, packing up the supplies that they had pulled out earlier and putting them in bags on the bear. "Alright buddy. One more day and then you can take a nice, long rest at a town. Maybe we an even go back to your home if you'd like. Who knows." He stated to the bear, smiling just a little bit as he patted the creature on the side. This was one of the few, rare moments that Rowan displayed any sort of joy. Just a bit longer.... just a little bit longer. Then everything will be fine. He thought to himself, staring at the creature for a few moments as he contemplated how he would go about this trip. How would he fight the woman when he finally met her?

Whatever the answer would be, he merely shook his head at the thought of it, turning his attention back towards Blake. "Blake, you can ride on the bear if you want. He can carry a person easily, and it'll keep you from getting too worn out like last night." He stated to the young elf girl, beginning to head in a direction out of the clearing. Judging from the sun's position, he was headed in the opposite direction of Carmillion still, which meant that they were going deeper into the forest. "Let's see if we can't find a new land today." Rowan stated to himself, looking forward as he cut his way through the forest. It did not take him long to come across some more items.... yet just the sight of them instantly filled him with some sort of regret. Instead of picking them up, he just walked past them and ignored them. Blake could get them if she wanted... but there were only so many bedrolls that someone could find before they just stopped caring to pick them up. The other item did not seem worth it either. "Let's just keep moving." Rowan stated to Blake, hoping she would ignore them as well.

Today was already getting off to a bad start when something much more irritating occured. They were surrounded by a bunch of lizards... something Rowan really did not want to deal with right now. On the bright side, they had come across what Rowan could only assume was yet another mana potion. They were useless... and this fight was pointless to be having. The whole situation just made him heave a heavy sigh, unable to think of the perfect way to convey the disappointment he was feeling. The creatures were nothing... and the item could only be sold for gold. After all, the two of them had no use for mana potions between each other. It makes me wonder if there's some sort of curse that's been place on me or something like that. There's no way that my luck can possibly be this bad. He thought to himself, wondering why all of this was happening to him all the time. There's no use in worrying about it too much though. This terrible luck is probably just the usual Trinity luck. Although, Alistair was far more lucky to have around than Blake.

Rubbing the back of his neck, Rowan merely drew his blade and pointed it at some of the creatures that were surrounding them. The bear had already begun its assault, stomping on one of the lizards and picking it up with its paw before slinging it around like some sort of ragdoll. This was the usual way that the animal fought, grabbing its enemies and then flinging them around until they were either knocked out or dead. Once the lizard was incapacitated, the bear threw it off into the forest as hard as it could, the sound of a tree cracking from the impact resounding through the forest. Rowan, shaking his head slightly, simply darted forward and began slicing at the creatures, cutting them multiple times with his blade. It did not take long to cut two of them to pieces, and, by the time he had finished with his lizards, the bear was already trying to take out yet another lizard the same way as before. ”That’s a good boy. How are you doing?” Rowan asked, turning towards Blake who had been given the chance to prove herself, just like she wanted. Did she manage to kill the creature? The bear still seemed to be trying to catch its second lizard, the creature rather difficult to catch.

Once Blake had finished off the other lizards, Rowan would simply turn his attention back towards the road and pick up the mana potion. ”Looks like we’ve got another potion to sell when we get back into town. Unless you want to use this useless thing.” Rowan commented, holding up the flask so that his Mage could see it clearly. Obviously, it was of much lower quality than the potion that the two of them had found before. This one would probably not sell for as much if they did decide to get rid of it. ”It’s up to you. I don’t have any use for crap like this.” Rowan stated, unaware of whether or not Blake would have some sort of use for it. With his abilities, she should not need to use anything like a mana potion. Still, there was a chance that she might prefer using something a bit more normal to try and regenerate her mana. His mana draining attack might be a bit too strange for the girl. He, however, would never know whether or not this was the case. After all, it was not like he was using any of the mana that he absorbs.

User ImageThe rations weren't home cooked quality good, but at least they were something. Blake finished up her half of them before getting ready for the day ahead of them. Thankfully, her new Astral friend had heard her calls, allowing her for a decent enough rest. It was the first in about a week and a half. "Sounds good. It'd be a pain to have to get back-tracked again. At least they hadn't been hostile." Blake decided on the steel bow for the day. Whatever tracking or aiming enchantment it had on it would serve as an aid until she'd gotten better. She pulled the thing out of its bag and slung it over herself. At least she could make the arrows out of the more solid metal. Rowan's talking to the bear caught her attention. You can smile at him like that, but you don't wanna give the poor guy a name? The girl smiled to herself before rolling her eyes with a chuckle. "Eh? Really? Alright, that sounds great! I will be sure to take you up on that, but I can walk for now. I don't know about you, but I got some decent sleep last night, so it should be fine for a while. Don't wanna tire the guy out." The thought of riding on a white dire bear was pretty cool, but she'd feel bad if she just took advantage of that all day. This was fine for now.

When they finally head out, it didn't take long to come upon more stuff: stuff that Rowan decided to outright ignore. Assuming it was probably junk, especially at the Knight's call to keep moving, Blake left the objects where they were. After about an hour or so, a rustling sound caught the girls attention before realizing that they were surrounded by lizards. By the looks on their faces, they didn't mean well. The bear was the first to move for them, surprising Blake with its willingness to charge in like that.
"Alright, boys, this one looks easy!" she called out with a flick of her wrist as Rowan moved toward two of the lizards. Two indigo circles appeared on the ground before wolves with fur like the night sky appeared in both of them. "Go for it." At her word, the summons leaped out toward the creature she was left with before ravenously attacking the pest. Two against one just didn't seem fair as the wolves tore the thing apart. She turned away from the scene at Rowan's voice. "Huh? Oh yeah, fine." Blake pulled off her bow when she saw the bear chasing the last one, creating an arrow and then firing. Just as it had last night with the tree, the somewhat off ammunition veered before hitting the lizard in the head, killing it. The blonde couldn't help but laugh aloud at the reality of this bow. This thing is way too cool!

"Uhm..."
Blake walked over to look at the potion her Knight was holding. It was clearly another one for mana, but given its aura, it was much less potent than the one they had found the day before. "Well, if we end up needing it before we get to a town, great, if not, it's probably worth a good meal." Naturally, Blake was set in the mana department, and if she ever did run out, Rowan was able to sap it from other beings and transfer it back to her...at least, that's what had happened the last time they'd come out to the forest. "We can keep it for now," she stated with a bit of a shrug. The summons barked at her, content with their job well done and catching Blake's attention. The woman scratched at their ears before sending them back to the Astral Plane. These ones didn't take long to reform, so if they were needed later, they could easily be summoned. Looking back up at Rowan, she asked if he was ready to head out.

It seemed as if the two of them were not going to be getting anywhere today. After showing that she could handle herself, Blake had gotten Rowan to believe that she could take on some of the creatures the forest was going to throw at them. Thus, he was a bit more willing to let her hold her own in battle now. What that mean, however, was that she was going to have to rely on him less and expect less help from him. He could not keep switching between keeping an eye on Blake and letting her do things herself. That would just get way too confusing for the both of them. "Glad to see that you can at least manage yourself a little bit. Just make sure not to take on anything you don't think you can handle right now. And no... that doesn't count weak snakes. You can easily defeat those if you just tried." Rown stated to the young woman, continuing to walk through the forest. After what seemed like thirty minutes, the two of them came across a cave in the middle of the forest. There were a few goblins in front of it... yet they were not going to last long in a fight.

Rowan, feeling as though this ma be a waste of time, was about to simply walk off before he heard the sound of ogres from within the cave. If there were ogres... then there would undoubtedly be some equipment from adventurers that had fallen in battle with these creatures. "Looks like there may be some worth in going in after all. Let's head out, Blake." Rowan stated, rushing towards the cave and drawing his blade at he same time. It looked like he might be going to cut all of the goblins to shreds... yet he merely jumped over them and rushed into the cave, calling back towards Blake. "You can handle them, I'll take care of the guys inside of the cave!" He shouted to her, rushing through the entrance of the cave and into the darkness. Ogres are at least going to be somewhat of a challenge. Fighting them should help me improve myself... even if it's just slightly. Besides... I need to practice using these greaves I found last week. Rowan thought to himself, looking down at the armor that he had equipped to his legs.

After running for a minute or so, Rowan came across the three ogres, the massive bests hitting each others with their clubs and laughing. It seemed that the brutes found joy in the strangest things, and violence seemed to be their favorite activity to partake in. Rowan, not really content with the fact that they were so idiotic, decided it was best to try and end the battle quickly. He did not want to waste time on monsters that could barely tell a rock and food apart. Teleporting, he appeared on the roof above one of them and propelled himself down towards its neck. In one swipe, he severed the things spine with his swords in two different places and landed on the ground, rolling. It fell instantly, paralyzed from the attack that Rowan had done. The other two, startled by the sudden appearance of an adversary, were quick to come after him, swinging their clubs. What they met, however, was solid cave wall, as Rowan teleported away from the two of them and appeared a ways away from them, near a fire they had started. "You two really aren't the brightest creatures, are you." He mocked them, the creatures responding only with roars.

Rushing at him, the creatures began to swing their clubs violently at him, smacking ground and cave walls the entire time. That's right. Keep attacking me... keep fighting. It was not long before the two monsters had accomplished Rowan's goal for him, causing the cave to become unstable. Rowan, spotting a bag that looked to be full of treasure, grabbed it and teleported himself towards the light he could see at the entrance of the cave. Just as it began to collapse, Rowan simply appeared at the entrance of the cave and rolled out onto the grass, laying there with the bag of treasure he managed to grab. "Looks like... I got them." He stated, a little shaken by the fact that he had almost gotten crushed to death by the cave collapsing. "I guess it was worth it though. I found something in there before it collapsed." Rowan stated to Blake, sitting up from the ground and looking towards her with a bit of irritation. He had not expected the ogres to be too difficult... yet it also bothered him that he needed them to collapse the cave on themselves to be able to do anything.

Grabbing the bag he had managed to get before the cave collapsed, Rowan opened it up to observe the contents of it. What he found inside was a bunch of armor that seemed to be for.... a bear? Not just a bear, a dire bear. What kind of luck was this supposed to be? They managed to find armor for his polar bear in a cave in the middle of a forest!? Well, finding bear armor was not that surprising... but they had to have gotten pretty lucky with this find. "Looks like you won't be running into battle without some kind of armor on anymore, buddy." He stated to his bear, placing his hand on the creature's head before rubbing it behind the ears. It seemed pretty happy with its gift too, barking at him joyously. "I guess it was about time you got something as well. I hope you like the color silver." Rowan stated, putting the first piece of armor on the bear, which was the helmet. The creature looked rather fierce with the piece of armor on, as if it were ready for any sort of combat. I guess we're doing pretty good for ourselves. He thought to himself.

User ImageBlake was about to say something in accordance to Rowan's suggestion of not taking on anything that might be too tough before he mentioned the snake incident. She'd hoped they'd be dropping that... "Can we just pretend there aren't flying snakes and that hadn't happened?" she asked, keeping her eyes on the forest. Although most of what he'd said counted as a compliment, so it wasn't so bad. After some time, it felt like she'd be able to call the Astral Hounds again, so it was about a half hour between their last fight and coming upon the cave. Rowan seemed like he was just about to walk off when something changed his mind, saying that this particular place may have some level of worth. "Sure, let's go!" When he moved, Blake and the goblins both thought that the Knight was going to cut them down, so when he launched past them, telling Blake to hand the creatures, they were all somewhat surprised. "Alright!" she shouted back, summoning the wolves.

The goblins seemed excited that they were fighting some blonde chick rather than the sword-wielding Knight. When one of them started running toward her, spear raised, however, one of the wolves was all over it, pinning it to the ground as it screamed and yelled. Blake looked at the other.
"Look, I won't tell if you run away." Apparently, retreat wasn't in the thing's category, so when it tried to help its friend, it was just met with an attack from the other summon. The wolves had finished with the goblins just before the ground started shaking, pebbles and soon rocks were falling from the ceiling of the cave. Had it been that unstable? She contemplated going in but quickly thought against it. Rowan could handle himself, it wasn't like he was the type to let himself get crushed. At least, she'd thought so until she heard a larger crack before the cave completely collapsed. For a second, the girl thought her chest was going to do the exact same, but that was when the Knight showed up out of thin air, rolling onto the grass and giving Blake a heart attack. She fell back with a hand on her chest, staring at him. "Agh! Don't do that to me!" The wolves disappeared as she pulled herself up from the ground.

"How did you just appear out of nowhere? Geez! I thought you got crushed! What if you had? Ah, Rowan, you really can't do that to me."
What could've possibly been worth such a reckless decision? Apparently, he'd found a bag full of what appeared to be armor for a bear... and it was big enough for a dire bear no less. While the find was incredulously lucky and cool, even cute when the bear finally had it on, it took a few moments for Blake's chest to stop pounding. One the one had, when he surprised her with combat techniques she didn't know about, it usually ended up sparking more than interest, but on the other, she wasn't sure if she could handle ones like this.

"Well, don't you look dashing?" she asked their bear. "So could you teleport before, or is this one of your new items you go out with my dad?" Blake asked when she was finally calm enough.

"There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. It's not because I don't want to, but because it's best if I don't."

Maybe Blake having feelings for Rowan was not the best thing in the world... as she seemed to be pretty torn up from his little feat that he managed to pull off. She told him not to try something like that again, which made him wonder if she was actually considering what Rowan was actually supposed to do as her Mage. "You do realize that that it's my job to risk my life like that so that you don't have to. If I'm not the one doing that kind of stuff, then someone else is having to do it. And the only other person that I see is you." Rowan stated, not exactly understanding why Blake would be so worried about him when it came to life-threatening situations. He understood that she cared about him... but he had been risking his life plenty of times before now and she had not even given it a second thought. Now that her feelings were out in the open, however, she seemed to be acting a little bit differently towards him. "The teleportation is the greaves. They go pretty far... that's why I figured I could get out of the cave in time if I was using them." Rowan stated to her, fitting the rest of the armor onto the bear.

Once all of the armor was on the bear, Rowan turned his attention back towards the forest, rubbing his neck slightly as he considering going any further. "Yeah, we can get one more hour in if we try. Let's get going... that cave falling in on itself was bound to get the attention of some creatures around here." Rowan stated, putting the bag that the armor had been in on the bear and walking through the forest. "Let's just hope that we don't get stuck in this forest for too long. If we can't find anything here, then we're probably going to search the snowy mountains next. I'm sure dragonkin probably live near mountainous areas anyway. That seems like a fitting setting for them." Rowan stated, explaining what his plans would be should they not find the dragonkin homeland while traveling through the forest. After walking around for about fifty minutes, the young man came across a strange spectacle, one that was almost too much for him to consider to be real. It was an abandoned church that looked like it was falling apart. What was strange, however, was the sword that was sitting in front of it.

Walking up to the blade, a bit curious about it, Rowan took a hold of the handle and watched as countless ghosts dispersed from the blade, scattering about the church. Had then been pinned to the ground by the sword or something to that effect? Curious, Rowan merely looked at the blade and discovered something strange about it properties. Its blade was translucent and seemed to be made up of energy. Curious, he moved his hand onto the blade only to find that it passed through it, much like things did when they attacked him while he was on the ethereal plane. Curious, he turned towards his Mage and held the blade out in front of him. "I think it's some sort of spirit sword or something like that. I can't even touch the blade with my hand..." He stated, moving the blade around in his hand. It had absolutely no weight as he swung it in various directions, making him rather curious about what it was supposed to do. Either way, it was incredibly light and could be swung multiple times with ease because of that. "Either way, it seems to be a pretty good weapon..." He stated, still a bit curious about it.

"Anyway, I'm not going into that abandoned church with all those ghosts in it. I had to deal with them yesterday, almost twice. I really don't feel like dealing with them again today. Especially not after we just dealt with those ogres." Rowan stated to his Mage, putting the sword in one of the bags on the bear and watching it simple poke through the bag. "I'm glad that the handle's physical... or else we'd have nowhere to put this thing without it just falling." Rowan state, looking at the undamaged back with a bit of curiosity. After a little more walking, the two of them came across a good place to set up camp for an hour. As such, Rowan pulled out some food and began to cook it while the two of them were resting. "Whatever that thing is, I'm sure it'll come in handy. It looked like it did something to ghosts... although those aren't really a problem for either of us, so I don't really see the point. I'm pretty sure it'll work against other stuff too though." Rowan stated, cooking some food over the fire and handing whatever he cooked over to Blake to eat. After all, she needed more energy than him since she was the Mage.

User ImageCarmillion got some snow during the winter season, but Blake was a little nervous about the mountains. It was kind of exciting, though, going to a new place. These were good nerves but nerves all the same, not that she planned on sharing them. "Those are where the rumors started... did you see any more dragons while you were there?" she asked, moving out with him. She didn't feel like justifying herself for freaking out. There were plenty of reasons, but there wasn't any need to attempt to go through them all.

It was almost an hour later when they came upon an old church. Blake narrowed her eyes. Something about it looked...haunted. She gasped, realizing that she'd forgot to cast for the morning, so for now, it'd be a little more difficult to tell if it was or not. Rowan moved over to the building, picking up a weird-looking blade, almost as if had qualities of the Ethereal Realm...
"That's what it looks like... like it's Ethereal," Blake agreed, folding her arms in front of her. Her eyes drifted over to the church when the Knight said it was full of ghosts, confirming her suspicions and almost making her glad she hadn't cast the spell Cheyenne had recently showed her. She could imagine the headache now... "Sounds like a good idea," she agreed when he said that he didn't want to deal with the ghosts in the church. It made her upset that she couldn't help them, but until she got used to this spell, it'd be better to avoid places like that. Blake almost laughed when the blade of the sword phased through the bag.

Camp was a good time for her to start that spell while Rowan cooked. It was a little longer than most of the ones she knew, but it lasted all day, so that made it convenient. Blake drew a circle in the dirt with her foot before murmuring the spell. Her Knight's aura faded in as it was completed. She moved over to the fire when it was done.
"There are other things from that realm that can be harder to handle, so we might find a pretty good use for it when it comes to those things, so yeah," she replied with a smile. "Thanks." Blake made herself a fork from the plastic in her belt before eating the food. It was definitely better than what she'd found this morning.

"Regardless of what we can use it for, it's definitely something interesting to have around, especially if we want to distract some people or freak them out really badly." Rowan commented, referring to the freakish nature of the blade and how unsettling it was to watch it pass through objects and just... exist. The mere look of the sword was enough to give off the vibe that it might rip your very soul from its body. Who knew what it would actually do to anyone should they be slashed with the blade. Honestly... I don't want to think about the specific properties of it. Know sword, it would not do any good to anyone to be hit with it. And even if it did nothing... I'm pretty sure ti would at least leave a very unpleasant feeling, like a ghost passing through your body. Just having something like that near you would make anyone slightly jittery. Rowan thought to himself, looking over towards the sword as the two of them ate the food he had prepared. Either way, they would find out what it did to spirits and such the next time they got into a fight with some ghosts... which seemed rather likely given their current record.

Once they were done camping, Rowan put out the fire they had been using and put away whatever supplies were left in some bags. They needed to get going or else they would lose too much time. What he discovered, however, was that the two of them were lost in the forest. Within twenty minutes, the two of them were wandering aimlessly around the place, unable to find their way back. The only reason they even managed to find the trail again was because they happened to come across a boar's tracks. Following it, they managed to make it back to the main trail.... only to find the boar himself walk up to them. The creature seemed friendly enough... although Rowan was not really able to consider how friendly it was because the dire polar bear immediately picked it up and killed it. Apparently it wanted to be eating boar tonight and took it upon itself to procure their food. "That... was a bit extreme... and not really necessary." Rowan stated to the bear, obviously not happy the creature had randomly decided to kill the boar without any approval from him.

The bear, however, merely licked Rowan's cheek as the man gave a rather stoic expression to it... creating a rather odd scene. "No... I will not be consoled. Not that I mind having food.... just... don't do things on your own." Rowan stated, sighing and picking up the boar. He then strapped it onto the bear's back, a ways away from Blake, and began to lead their little group through the forest again. "Let's just keep going. I really don't want to deal with any of the creatures that might be attracted by that blood on the ground back there. Then again... we might get some unwanted attention carrying that boar's body around with us." Rowan commented to Blake, unsure of whether or not it was a good idea to be carrying around their dinner with them instead of just leaving it behind. In fact, the best idea would have probably been to cook it right then and there. That way they would not have to deal with any animals tracking them by the scent of the boar. We'd lose too much time if we did that though. Rowan thought to himself and sighed once again at the thought of such an inconvenience.
