"Well, you already got me a s**t ton for my birthday," Jack countered. "You're not obligated to get me something for Christmas."
PostPosted: Mon Dec 28, 2015 11:27 am

"I'm not obligated t'do anythin'." She told him, setting her drink down and putting the plate on the floor. It was true too; Chel would never do something just because she was obligated. She had to want to do it, and for Jack she always wanted to do it.

She sat up and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. "You want it or not? 'Cause I can't return 'em anyways. Could give 'em t'someone else I guess ..."

Huffing a sigh, though as usual he was curious, he said, "Alright, bring it on," and ran his hand up her back. "But I swear to god if it was something expensive..."

Chel snickered, the way she always did when she was about to watch Jack lose his composure.

She stood up, patting his cheek once before crossing over to the Christmas tree, wherein she'd hidden an envelope between the branches. "Hidden in plain sight" as they said.

With a self-confident smirk she sat down beside him and ran a hand through her hair. The envelope was dropped in his lap. "For you, babe. Promise it's not a bunch of favors." She could make jabs.

Inside the envelope sat two tickets to Projekt Revolution, a music festival hosted by the infamous Linkin Park with headliners like MCR and other bands from their childhood emo fantasies. She was smart enough not to get pit tickets (god forbid Jack be shoved into a smooshed crowd of people where violence was not only plausible but expected) but maybe a little selfish in her gift too.

Behind that was a less-fancy looking set of tickets, to a local venue in New York with headliners that nobody had ever heard of. It was sure to be a much calmer crowd with lower quality music though no less grimy and drunk.

"Wasn't sure which was more your scene," she explained. Chel fit in at both places; the low light of a local venue and the rowdy crowd of a festival. She loved both. "I can just go with Chris f'one's not your thing." Already making reparations despite having no verdict.

He wanted to point out just how delighted she had been with a bunch of favors (and frankly was insulted, given that he was about to just fork over some more in lieu of getting a gift after all), but said present needed a review first. Jack read over the venues with interest, though he braced for some inevitable jab about some of the artists there. That was the set up, right? Piece of s**t emo versus piece of s**t New York underground scene snob? Or maybe, as per usual, he was getting defensive over nothing. It was harder not to these days thanks to the crystal.

"You don't thnk it's a little too whiny for our tastes now?" he asked with a snort, waving the Projekt Revolution tickets.

Chel would have countered that she still adored that present. For whatever plans he thought she was concocting was an innocent gesture with no defenses.

"What? No way. That s**t's still good," she said concretely; he would know too by the sheer number of times she played it when it was just the two of them (no one else got to hear her somewhat guilty pleasure).

She crossed her arms stubbornly. "I told you, f'you don't want to I'll go with Chris-" She was already reaching to take the tickets back, slightly hurt by the rejection.

He pulled the tickets back before she could. It was all instinct still--derision to mask guilty pleasures that were no longer secrets. Just like he sometimes did still with the make up Chel had given him.

There was a twinge of remorse in his expression as he said, maybe a little childishly, "I wanna go."

And also ******** Chris getting to have more fun than him.

"But you know MCR broke up, right?"

"Shh, the cut's still deep," she said, feigning hurt and scooting closer to him. "They'll get back t'gether, I know it."

She gave him a pensive look and then all at once she hopped onto his lap, pushing all of her weight into his side to pull him down into the couch. Christmas wasn't Christmas without being pummeled into the couch cushions.

"Gerard Way already debuted his solo album," Jack pointed out. "It's a pipe dream now.""

But why pursue that depressing thought when he was being pulled down on the couch? Lifting his arm up so the tickets wouldn't get bent, he flopped into the couch willingly, pleased with his prudent forethought about not wearing his glasses today.

"As per usual, your gift is too thoughtful."

Chel plucked the tickets from his hand and threw them over the back of the couch. They could be picked up later.

"Yeah and like usual you make it seem like I did somethin' wrong," she said, pushing his face further into the couch pillows. "You gotta make it up t'me."

He could fight back in earnest...or he could just struggle enough to make it look like it.

"Mmfffmfmmf," went the exaggerated reply before one of his long legs thrashed to try and deseat her.

Chel snickered as her seat became bumpier, and eventually she was knocked off the couch with a crash. As she looked back at him affectionately it was clear her last sentence had been false; Chel had already received enough presents in his presence.

"Think that's enough punishment fer now," she told him with a sideways grin from the ground. It took her a moment to right herself, and she leaned on the edge of the couch with her elbows extended out. "Yer lucky I didn't hit my head- then you really woulda got an a** kickin'."

Once freed, Jack rolled until his back was against the couch and stretched out again like a cat, popping several joints loudly with a sigh. "Your head's too thick t'be in danger," he retorted in a half mumble. The couch was too short for him, but it was still comfy...

"You gonna join me or what?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 30, 2015 1:46 pm

Chel scowled at the thick head comment, but didn't join him for the moment. Instead she took her time weaving her fingers between his, laying her head on her forearm to look up at him.

"Can I tell you somethin'?"

His arm flopped back on the couch, but the fingers stayed entwined. "Sure." Always. Jack cracked an eye open.
