Nightmare Xochi Response: Xochi closed her notebook and pursed her lips, surprised at the easiness of the question. Well, considering what the other classes were asking of their students, she was pleased to have a little relief instead of fretting over if this was what they wanted or not. "Math is used frequently in everyday," She responded blandly, "Perhaps the most prevalent is in financing your own budgets. Making sure you don't overspend by substracting your nessecary bills and fees from your money and then anything else you might need to survive." Sure that was simple math, but the teacher didn't ask for complex answers.

Ash frowned at the assignment, nearly biting her lip at the question. She hated math, it was easily her worst subject and it made her feel dumb. All she wanted to do is draw during the class... but after a few lessons and eventual scoldings from her mother, she may have it? It should be odd, if she remembered right.
19 + 25 + 7 = 51 2 + 16 + 24 = 42
51 + 42 = 93
So she was right, it was odd! Well, either that or she was wrong. But she turned her paper over and contemplated if she could get away with never taking another math class.

Anstice frowned at her sister sitting a few desks down. She knew that this class was really hard for her, and she felt bad... But there was nothing she could really do but do her own assignment and try to explain things to Ash later. So evens and odds, that wasn't very difficult. She should get something odd.
4, 48, 96 - even 5, 99, 73 - odd
4 + 48 + 96 = 148 5 + 99 + 73 = 177 177 + 148 = 325
Yepp, 325 was odd, that was for sure. She felt confident in her answer as she circled it and started coloring in the sides of her notebook with a smile. What was going to be next?

Username: Mizu_Taji Student: Ezra Picture: Response: Ezra was ok at math. Not the best, but not the worst either. Today though, was coloring, and Ezra always enjoyed a good coloring. Spreading out his crayons he didn't even see if he could see the picture before picking the colors for each number. He colored, smiling and humming a random tune as he worked. There was one spot that wasn't numbered and it confused him, so he didn't color it just to be safe. He then turned the picture in.

Username: Mizu_Taji Student: Aino Picture: Response: Aino never liked math, but she really didn't like a lot of classes. Math, science, history, writing. Oh she especially hated writing. However, she really liked art, so she felt that color by numbers would be a good middle ground. She liked using markers, and always had a set with her, so she used that to color the picture. She seemed to be a bit more cheerful than usual when she turned the paper back in, though she did her best to avoid the teacher's gaze.

Username: iMattiebear Student: Quinton Picture: Response:

Quinton stared at his sheet for a few minutes once it was set in front of him. While other students got to work, he turned both the sheet and his head; examining the page from all angles. Back and forth, trying to see what the image was. It made his eyes hurt, so after another long look he shook his head and rubbed his eyes. While he tried to get his head to stop hurting, he thought about his first color.
Red, green, orange, pink! There were so many colored pencils to choose from. Quinton finally decided to go with Purple. It was his absolute favorite color, therefore it should get to be number one, right? The freshling grabbed the purple pencil and went to work. He knew you shouldn't color outside of the lines, and he didn't want to seem like an infant, so he was careful around the edge. The end result to his worry was a thin white line between the outline and his own coloring.
Quinton worked his way around all the number 1's. There was a spot on the wing without a number. Part of the boy thought it was obviously just a mistake, that it was meant to be numbered '1'. He paused in his coloring, tongue out in thought. He decided to skip it. Since that was the last spot he was going to color, he set the pencil down in his pile of pencils.
Number two. Hm, his second favorite color was orange! The boy grabbed the pencil and went to town, again there was a blank space. He wrinkled his eyebrow in thought. It was probably a mistake again, but again he skipped over it and continued to color the 2's. He finished the page like this, just going down his list of favorite colors. When he was finally done, Quinton sat back in his seat not realizing he had been on the edge as he colored.
While he looked his work over, Quinton stretched his legs out in front of him and grinned. It was beautiful. A work of art! He stood, still grinning and went to turn the paper in. There was a short line, but as he waited he stared at the two blank spots. He thought about the directions again, Color by Number. Number. He nodded to himself, knowing he made the right decision and stepped up to the teacher. "Here you go! That was a lot of fun!" Without hesitation he turned the paper in and went to sit down in his seat again.

Username: Deejaye Student: Phaedra Picture: Response: Phaedra found that she struggled with math a lot; the concept of numbers was perplexing to her. How did two number shapes that looked unlike each other combine to make a shape that looked even less like them?? It was boggling! But as she sat in class today, she made an exhale of relief as the teacher explained what they had to do today. Coloring! She could do coloring! Pulling out her set of color pencils, she examined each, making sure they were sharpened perfectly. Nice and tidy - just how she liked it.
Upon acquiring the paper, she studied the shapes curiously, trying to figure out what it would be, when she'd finish. Was that maybe a flower in the lower right hand corner...? She couldn't figure out how it'd result in anything that wasn't a hodge podge mess. Shrugging, she instead picked out 8 color pencils one by one - all colors she liked. Starting with the shapes marked 1, she moved on in an orderly fashion, coloring all the 1's before going to 2's, coloring all the 2's before 3's, etc, until she finished. The demon held up the page, admiring how well she colored them. She took pride in how she managed to stay within the lines mostly and left no white marks. Perfectly solid! Her big sister would be proud! ..Or at least she'd like to believe that.
She did notice however two shapes were left uncolored - they lacked a number label. Frowning at the two unnumbered shapes, she colored them what she imagined they should have been. There, now perfect. Carefully packing up her color pencils, she toddled over to the teacher and handed it to him, proud of her work.

Username: Deejaye Student: Zephyr Picture: Response: Zephyr was surprised to learn that today the freshlings would be able to color. Strange for a math class, they thought, but they wouldn't argue with it. Feeling especially creative, they reached for the paints and decided they would experiment with it. Noticing that the only colors that seemed to remain in the paints was a pink, blue, black, and white, the freshling decided that the only thing they could do was mix the paints and make new colors! Excited, Zephyr made a purple, a brownish color, and various shades of blue before painting to their heart's content. They weren't the best painter - they kept going out the lines and left areas unpainted on accident, but they overall enjoyed themselves.
After finishing painting, Zephyr waited for it to dry and decided to go back and doodle some designs on some of the colors, feeling it would make it 'pop' more if they did that. It was only then that they were content and ready to hand it in. Hopefully the teacher would appreciate their hard work!

Username: Broken_Illumination Student: Valentein Picture: Response: Valentein was very impatient about starting classes right away and signed up the same day they arrived at the academy. Mathematics seemed like a great place to start since numbers were definitive and were a universal means of counting. Not to mention, numbers never lied to you or try to rope you into trying to hang out with them. Valentein liked math and was more than eager to do some equations or word problems. As they walked up to the teacher to receive their assignment, Valentein's already flat expression somehow dropped further as they looked over the color-by-number page. Valentein tried hard not to show their discontent but a sigh escaped their lips anyway. "...thank you." they merely responded as they took the paper and then found a desk away from others to sit at so that they could complete their drawing uninterrupted. After a bit, they stood up, and walked up to the teacher again and held out the drawing. "Please don't read into my color choices. It was just convenient. Thank you for this lesson, thought I can't wait to be learning at a higher level than this." Val's voice was monotone and unenthusiastic. At this point, they just wanted to be done and move on to the next class.

Username: jinxgirl5 Student: Alyssum Picture: Response: Alyssum looked a bit doubtful, but selected several different colored markers and started to color. As she started to go through the numbers the picture suddenly became clear to her, though she hadn't noticed it before. It was kind of pretty with the random colors, even though she would likely never have colored a flower those colors on her own. There was a point in the picture that didn't have numbers though. She hesitated, then filled them in with her best guess as to what likely went there. She was quite proud of her drawing when she was done, though she really hoped she'd done well by coloring in the spots with no numbers. Username: jinxgirl5 Student: Rowan Picture: Response: Rowan selected several markers and began the picture. They spotted what it was pretty quickly and paused, frowning. Well it was too late to change the colors, but what flower had a pink stem? As they continued to color, two white spots stood out. Rowan finished, then stared at those spots. They bothered Rowan deeply to just leave them, even though there weren't numbers. It was pretty obvious what colors were supposed to go there though. Rowan filled them in, unable to leave them blank, and took a moment to wonder which adult had been lax enough to forget two entire spaces!

Username: Magician Arcana Student: Cyota Picture: Response: Coloring was a strong suit of Cyotas. They were particularly happy that this event was all about coloring. Coloring was soothing too so they took a sheet and picked out a random assortment of colors. Then they went to town. They handled it pretty well, coloring decently well, and finishing with ease. Walking up to the desk, Cyota presented it to the teacher and smiled politely before giving the teacher a little head nod. Well! That was fun! Maybe the rest of classes would be good too? Username: Magician Arcana Student: Manny Picture: Response: Oh thank the nine! This time he didn't have to get up and tlak in front of the group. That was getting tiring. Instead he could hunker down and work on drawing. It wasn't the nicest piece he had done, the colors were kind of wonky and he wished he could give it a second go to make it better, but Manny was pleased he had finished it. He brought it up to the teacher and shyly turned it in, looking as if he was about to say something, but in the end stuttered and walked away.

Username: itsie bitsie spider Student: Callie Picture: Response: Callie sat at her desk, eagerly awaiting their assignment for today. When they were told they were going to color? Well that made the kitty actually pretty excited. Since she had first come to the academy, it was one of the newer things she had gotten to experience. Well, in a way, anyways. Different than just painting, which is what she was used to back home. Getting out her new box of crayons -- yay! -- she began to color in the worksheet that was handed out.

Nightmare Kuchena Image: Response: Kuchena scratched her head as she looked over the assignment, she really was confused by this whole concept and she usually loved math. "Sunflowers are a traditional example of Fibonacci's Sequence, see the spiral and the lines that follow?" she traced the lines of the seeds of her picture, though she wished that she could explain it better than she did, but the concept really wasn't sticking with her.

Exponential growth... That was something Shaxio could handle. He tapped his pencil to make sure the lead was usable, then began writing.
Several years ago, an invasive species of bullfrogs were introduced to the streams near by the school. This species is very hardy and large, it easily dominates the biosphere in the area. Naturally, with no predators to curb their numbers, they began to reproduce at alarming rates. Now, the native species in the area are suffering as they are unable to keep up with the bullfrogs, and often end up as food sources for them. This is a harmful introduction of a species since it was not done by the species itself.
Currently there are no real protocols put in place to ensure that people are not purposely releasing nonnative species into new environments - however there have been several attempts to curb the population in what I suppose can be called "frog hunts." Since they are large, they do make for good meals, at least that is what I hear.
With that completed, he wrote his name at the top, and then passed it in to Judas.
