Nikuya scratched the back of his head as the others voiced their concerns. No one was certain what was on the other side of the portal as of now. He contemplated whether or not he should go back to Soul Society just in case they decided to foray into the other side. "Those beasts?" Nikuya asked, in response to Aizawa. Surely he didn't just mean the hollows? "Shouldn't be a ceasefire to begin with." He coughed, lighting up another cigar. This was the perfect time to attack the hollows. They would be weakened while both Earth and Soul Society would be united. "Yeah, same happened in s.s." He answered Aizawa again, waving the lit match in his hand out. Nikuya leaned against a nearby table, sitting on the edge as Aizawa asked if anyone would be willing to go through the portal. Sayla showed up around then, also answering Aizawa. She was walking strangely, favoring one leg. Nikuya assumed she had injured herself at some point, perhaps during or after the explosion of the shard. Then another bount like creature appeared, standing between Aizawa and himself. Where were they coming from? They kept coming out of the wood-work, like cockroaches. As soon as the idea of selflessly storming through to launch a counter-attack was made, three of the bounto would break off to head back to where ever they came from. No surprise, as soon as they were asked to show any true altruism they backed out. Nikuya scoffed, good riddance he thought. They had enough on their plates without worrying about three energy vampires sucking innocent souls dry. Or biting them in the back when they least expected it. Nikuya made a mental note, tracking them until they were at the edge of his spiritual sense. He would remember what direction they went to, being sure to scan for them later. "Nikuya. Eleventh division." The shorter bronze man said with a bow as he stood in front of Aizawa. He looked expectantly at the quincy as he straightened his back, waiting for the powerful man to introduce himself in turn.

xxx Aizawa glanced back at Sayla and using his abilities with Whispering Winds, spoke to her from a distance. "Thank you." He truly was appreciative of her. He felt a sort of kinship with her, Sayla having been one of the first people he fought alongside before he began his journey of growth in this new world.

Turning his attention back to the fleeing Bount before him, he watched them go, understanding their wariness around a Quincy and a Shinigami, but hopefully they'd be keeping to themselves. They seemed like reasonable enough folks, but when one's nature led you to seek out feeding, it was possible to act against your own better judgement. An unfortunate plague upon the residents of Earth, but he himself felt conflicted about the race. On one hand, they were themselves residents of Earth, on the other hand, they were chaos and dissension towards humans, whom the fed upon. Aizawa would turn to the Shinigami. "Ah. Not those beasts in particular. Those beasts I keep a close eye on, but don't inherently view as a problem. Where I come from, Bount were often just as much of an asset to the Impe--" he began before cutting himself off quickly, his expression darkening as he continued. "I'm sorry. Never mind that. I agree. But, the ceasefire keeps Earth from being invaded on the regular as Hollows so often like to do. I don't expect that the spoken promise between myself and one of their stronger members really does much, though. I fear that the presence of stronger defenders of Earth is all that keeps the Hollow swarms at bay. I don't know what Shinra was thinking trying to incorporate those monsters into her Treaty. Even Belial was an off the wall wildcard. That kid was an utter nutcase." Aizawa said, musing to himself, still not broken out of the surrealness of the moment, but effectively putting on the facade of a functioning person. "Aizawa of the clan Khalid of the Quincy." he would speak, introducing himself, mimicking the bow to a T. Although "Khalid" wasn't his birth surname, it was his given surname and he valued it above his birth father's name. "Well, they obviously aren't signing up any time soon. What about you? If there's a portal where this pillar stood, I'm assuming a sibling portal stands in the Soul Society? Either way, how many of you Shinigami are planning on entering? I have a personal vendetta against . . . whoever these beings are. They've now taken family from me in addition to countless lives of the civilians of this city. My Holy Land can only heal so much . . . " His mind wandered momentarily to the expression on Zera's face as she was torn apart by the blast. Aizawa visibly shook off the memory, his eyes watered in the corners. He couldn't let himself get close to anyone like that ever again. his mother. Miharu. Shinra. Zera. The list expanded on and on. Those he cared about most in life would be taken from him. That much was evident. He would need to put up walls and keep others at bay. Emotional investment was a luxury he couldn't spare. If he was stone before, he needed to forge himself into steel. And if that didn't work, he would refine himself into something harder. Colder. He would continue this way until he broke . . . and that day would eventually come. Looking back to Nikuya with a deeper hardness in his eyes, his black eyes seeming to be able to look on for ages, he spoke to Nikuya, his words harder than his eyes by far. "Let's speak of an alliance. If these children, whoever they are, want a game, then let us make some moves."

James looked over in the direction of the portal. He didn't understand why exactly. Though, he felt drawn toward it. This wasn't exactly the adventurous spirit he felt. When he first decided to explore the town. He never had made it to the old hospital as he originally intended. It was probably for the best. Any unexplored place held unknown dangers. Or maybe none at all. As a Quincy of decent spiritual power. He could sense nearby Bount in the area. They didn't exactly concern him. Even before he had been able to manifest his powers. James had gained a sense about those around him. It was like getting a feint reading on a person or creature. He could tell if someone was a threat or not. Something about these Shinagami. Told him he could trust them. He knew nothing of the Soul Society.

You can trust them. Just be wary of the lower rank ones. They are a cocky lot though possess no true confidence.

James looked around after hearing the unknown voice in an attempt to pinpoint it.

Who is there?

He was still gripping his Spirit Sword tightly. Half expecting the Ninja who had trashed his home to attack. James glared at the portal. As he continued to listen in on the conversation of the others.

Ah, so Aizawa was a much more generous man than Nikuya. So long as a creature was valuable, or proved an asset, it was allowed to live. He had started to say something about a group, but cut himself off. Nikuya didn't know enough about Earth to even begin to guess what he was going to say. "Agreed." Nikuya spoke in response to Aizawa's outlook on the hollow offensive. Just because they had an agreement with the strongest hollow doesn't mean the rest would fall in line. Even if they did, there was no saying that the said hollow would even honor that agreement. They could easily let a subordinate run wild then deny and claim. He spoke of someone named Belial, who (again) Nikuya had no information on. The quincy standing before him introduced himself in turn and Nikuya bowed his head slightly as he gave his whole name and clan. He kept his lit cigar between his index and middle finger, covering his mouth, as he continued to smoke. "It's my duty." Nikuya breathed out, smoke billowing from between his lips. "I don't care how many enter. Even if it was just me, I would still defend soul society and Earth." He tapped his cigar against his leg, breaking off the burnt out ash that had accumulated on the end. The hot ember glowed a bright orange as he once more brought it to his lips. Aizawa was speaking of an alliance, but as far as Nikuya was concerned: Anyone who was against the hollows was already an ally. "Sounds good to me." The man with the dragon tattoo extended an arm, open handed towards the most powerful entity on Earth. Nikuya's eyes drifted to the new quincy that had just arrived, the one called James. He was listening in on the dark-haired shinigami and the man from clan Khalid. The green-horn was obviously injured, breathing labored, and didn't seem to be trying to conceal his presence. Two wolfish eyes regarded James for a fraction of a second. A gaze that was cold and predatory. Just as quickly as his attention was diverted, Nikuya's eyes were back on Aizawa.

Zuriel wipes the sweat from his brow and sighs. He regrets not knowing about this incident any sooner, but little can be done about that now. He smiles at the stranger who has randomly invited him to some castle. "I do not know. Maybe in a while." It was nothing personal. He rarely has had a situation where he would need to interact with bount. As he pulls his jacket back on he hears Aizawa state his surname and pauses to look over at the young man. A look of interest and thoughtfulness crosses his countenance as if he were attempting to figure something out. "Shalom," he calls out to him. "Kombanwa. We briefly interacted earlier. I do believe we share a few things in common." He is a genial man to a point, but it was more to remind Aizawa that even half-breeds such as himself were worthy of respect. In that direction, he sets the example and shows it by being respectful himself. He had not forgotten Aizawa's rather tense first interaction with him. It would please him so very much if people would stop looking at him as if he were some pariah ready to spread degeneracy, debauchery, and villainy. Granted, his grandfather went through his own debauchery phase, but that was irrelevant. It was normal for rock stars to act like pigs in those days. It probably still is, but it is not his bag. Zuriel is only just starting his own act, deciding that keeping his family's front would be the best way to continue the feeding of his tribe in the most harmless way possible as well as help them hide in plain sight. After all, how many vampires would be so open and parade about on stage? He is not ashamed of what it entails because the people who come to their concerts are so willing to give up their emotional overflow for them to feed upon. What others think of this is irrelevant to him, but he does wish to set the record straight if he hopes that they could ever come forward as true vampires. Too many in the spiritual community confuse them with the Bounts, which are similar in many ways, but what they specifically feed upon is very different, as are their origins. As for his Quincy half. He finds the whole concept of racial purity to be utter rot and stinks of Nazi attitudes.

James heard the words. "I would defend Soul Society and Earth". He didn't know what Soul Society was. Though he had gained a bit of respect for the one who spoke those words. Timidly he spoke, while making eye contact with Nikuya.

I.....I will help if I can. I hate the Hollows. They are the reason I was separated from my family. One threatened my father, mother and brother. While another one nearly ran me through.

James turned toward Zuriel. Holding his already drawn Spirit Blade in his right hand. He glared at them coldly. Glancing around himself making a mental note of everyone who appeared to be a potential threat. His right hand shook with anticipation. As slaying one of these nearby Hollows or assorted creatures in the area. Gave him the same sensation as drinking his morning coffee. James felt a feeling of elation at the very thought of running one of these ones through.

The unknown voice spoke in his head once again.

Calm down James. God, your recklessness reminds me of your great-uncle. Even though you are not of the same blood.

"The merest shade of me..."

Hideki had been lurking about in his mist form, an intangible spy who seemed like fog among the crags and rubble of a now stabilized residential district. The dhampir chuckled darkly as he slunk into the group, solidifying and forming into his human shape with his arms folded with a smirk on his lips as he looked to Aizawa, James, and Nikuya. They all talked a big game about defending the realms, but he'd heard these lines before over the ages. He'd witnessed many would-be leaders try to rally the troops and promise a restored order. He'd spent time among the SS Waffen SD Unit during his time in Nazi Germany, then migrating to the Soviet States were he lent his services to the secret police to know that behind every promise of utopia was a lie that had to be fed to delude the masses. He'd never been to America, but he could assume the same was true there since they committed one of the largest atrocities on Japanese soil next to this Jokaisho Pillar's explosion.

"So the heroes convene to plan on the next part, huh? That portal is pure Jokaisho energy, can't you feel it? Nobody's going through that...at least not us. We're probably not going to be allowed in till we're invited. Seems to be the way this puppet master is working our strings."
, Hideki remarked to them, but it was as if he weren't talking to anyone in general at the same time. It was more or less a game to the assassin. One giant, silly, game indeed.

"...is enough to defeat you."

Hideki may have been invisible. Though James could still feel there intentions clearly. A chaotic aura danced around them. There words sounded good on there thin surface. Though every side could come up with a justification for there position. The truth didn't lie in the immediate effects of an action but in the long term consequences.

The voice spoke in his head once again. Only this time it sounded normal and familiar.

That is right. Mortals can't see the complete effect of there actions. Though you possess the ability to see a piece. Using your history as a guide. Is the furthest you can extend your sight. Your great uncle once spared one of the greatest evils this world has ever seen. He did this so he would be greatful to him. So his power could be used in the future. That evil has aided him many times. Though the cost was clearly too high. I once said this to my father. He said I couldn't see things in the depth that he was capable of and the true cost would pay off to be beneficial.

James was taken back by the voice speaking in his head. He finally realized who had been communicating with him. He looked around with a confused look on his face. Now gripping his Spiritual Blade with both hands. Then, in a timid matter James spoke.

Jade?

Mark Adams continued down the street. His shoes were quite dirty though this was nothing new to him. A Sandy colored mud was caked on the sides of his shoes. The sidewalks were not paved so you had to walk in the dirt. He wasn't all that shook up considering a man had just pointed a gun at his face. He was looking down trying not to make eye contact with anyone in particular. He took a left down a street. There was quite the gathering of people here. To Mark they appeared as normal human beings. Except for those who were cloaked which he didn't see at all. Mark wasn't gifted with spiritual powers as his older brother James had been. His sight was quite ordinary and his mind even a tad dull. One of the things who were part of a local gang. Had witnessed his friends and associates. Having failed to rob this man. This didn't sit well with the middle aged hoodlum. He aggressively walked up to Mark with his right hand clenched. There was a swagger in his walk.

You owe me some money, BOY. I don't care who has your back. Be they ordinary, a prize fighter, the Easter Bunny or the tooth fairy. NOBOBY steals from our gang the Iron Tigers. You have to pay the toll if you wish to walk down our street. Will you fork over the cash or come work for me?

Mark didn't wait for the man to finish talking. He crarged the thug, give him a good right cross to the left of his jaw. The thugs face hurt him at this point and he looked at Mark wickly.

Your life it is then.

Suddenly, the man was lifted off of his feet twelve feet off the ground. Then slammed hard into a brick wall. Which knocked the man out.

They never learn, do they?

This time his aunt Jade wasn't speaking telepathically. She was kneeling on the top of a rooftop looking down at him. She had telepathically dispatched the thug. Just as she had done with the previous ones.

Sayla Marz [KP-X]
~ Anti-Spirit Weapons Platform ~

It was not that unusual to think that the point blank blast from the pillar had damaged her systems, both internal and external. The blast in and of itself had damage the chasis of the Mod Soul's body, while the pure energy from the explosion fired the hardware within her. As a Dhampir shows up and talks about the convergence of heroes, and how the portal was made up of the same energy that was causing the cascading failures wrecking her body and risking to destroy her very core. "If that is the case..." Sayla would speak as she forces herself to walk towards her motorcycle, "...I think it is time for an upgrade. If this 'Puppet Master' thinks we will not be prepared... I want to disappoint him." The powered soul would mount her bike, and even lets out a sigh of relief as the machine starts, and pulls out of the area. She would not head to Section Nine HQ, but to a warehouse that the group used to secure its overstocked research tech.

xxx Aizawa clasps Nikuya's hand tight in his own. "I have been . . . hurt by the Soul Society before. But if they vow to give Earth their protection and not simply use it as a battleground for the war against Hollow, I will give my aide to Soul Society as well, if need be. If the situation ever should arise, simply call out to me and the winds will carry your message." His eyes were alight with passion, hiding the brokenness buried just beneath the surface. It was clear he was using a focus to distract himself. "Now to simply wait . . . or figure out how to open the portal." he spoke as Hideki joined the fray. Aizawa cocked his head to the side as he listened to the man, the individuals darker Nen unsettling him minutely. "It does seem to be the way the children work. Simply a waiting game, then." he would speak through clenched teeth hands balled into equally clenched fists. At this time, Zuriel spoke up, Aizawa's expression lightening as he raises his eyebrow at Zuriel's statement. "Oh? And that would be?" Aizawa would begin, though he would quickly interject a second question as well. "And if you don't mind my asking, I notice your Nen is off from the usual hue. Do I detect Bount blood? Not a problem . . . depending on . . . how you feed. I'm fully sympathetic to unfortunate circumstances, but . . . murder is murder." His eyes would drift towards Hideki, the dark resolve within hardening once more before the slid back to Zuriel. The influx of Bount and half-Bount as of late was definitely something that needed looking into. Best to exterminate the problem early on before Karakura became a den of pests feasting on the innocent . . . So much to do. He wouldn't be able to do this on his own, Section 9 would need to assist, he couldn't afford to bring himself close enough to another personal group. That sort of responsibility for their lives would break him for good if ever he failed again.

"The merest shade of me..."

Hideki chuckled darkly as Aizawa had identified the curse that afflicted him with astute senses. Honestly the half-Bount assassin couldn't help but commend the Quincy's ability to detect the darkness among the group. "Yeah...You got me alright. Hell, once this threat is contained, I might even give you the honor of trying to kill me. Let's just not throw the baby out with the bathwater right yet. We're an asset just as much as you are in this fight. Our reasons for protecting earth are vastly different...true. Problem being narrow minded view on how Bount feed. Try to keep an open mind and you might find we're more reliable than you know.", the silver haired man said with a sickeningly happy grin at Aizawa.

Hideki was intelligent, far beyond the normal human, which might account for his madness. Though, he did have a point. If the Bount were simply aimed at a target, they could be just as valuable a weapon as any of the other beings that inhabited this spiritual cosmos. It also made little sense to try and fight two wars on opposite sides...It'd just be a pincer effect. If the Bount didn't kill you, the Jokaisho-Sworn would, and all this planning and effort to rebuild would be for not. Maybe Aizawa had the intellect to at least comprehend that much, because for his sake, if he were to be a true hero and a leader for Earth, he'd have to be able to muster that much in the smarts department or else everyone would be doomed to yet another Blood War like the one that took place not too long ago that rendered the Quincy population...almost extinct. Again.

The rise of the Bount in the region could also logically be explained by the increase in Jokaisho energy. Anyone with half a brain knew that in the days past, they had used the power brought on by the J-Shards to empower their dolls and even stabilize a perfect fusion with them. Aizawa would likely remember those times and the ferocity and ruin brought about by the strongest of these. While comparable to Hollow, sure, there was a difference in the Bount... They could be reasoned with. Terms could be set and agreements could be made. There was no reasoning with the spiritual monsters who hunted both Bount and Quincy for the same reason, that being their spirit energy. So Hideki decided to wait around for a moment more to see just how smart and shrewd the man before him could be.

"...is enough to defeat you."

Nikuya nodded as he clasped Aizawa's hand and said nothing else on the matter. He had nothing else to add, after all. This shinigami didn't see Earth as a battleground between hollows and the death gods. Instead, he saw the home of those destined to continue a cycle of death and rebirth. The hollows disrupted the cycle. The quincy, though also detrimental to the cycle, at least saw the hollows as a threat. Nikuya, having already released Aizawa's hand, was ripped from his silent musings by Hideki's arrival. He made an excellent point. That they were not going to be entering that portal anytime soon...unless they were invited. Golden eyes mirrored the image of the portal in the dark pools of black pupils. The portal was a brilliant color, or rather several colors swirling together to create images that couldn't be replicated on Earth. Nikuya ignored Hideki as he spoke of how much of an asset the bount could be. The bount were monsters created, stupidly, by one named Ran'Tao. A foolish woman who had sought to create eternal life. There was no such thing, and believing otherwise was stupid. The bount couldn't help what they were, but monsters that preyed on others needed to be exterminated. For the sake of the cycle. Souls devoured by bounto were completely destroyed. Narrow-minded view on how bount feed? Perhaps Hideki didn't understand the ramifications of him simply existing, or perhaps he just didn't care. "There's a truce until this.." He motioned to the portal. "..is dealt with."

James aunt Jade jumped down from on top of the building she had previously been on top of. She spoke with a thick accent that seemed to almost echo in the air.

Go with them James. This will be good training for you.

She said while crossing her arms.

I may have turned from the path of protector long ago. Though I still look after my own. Your spiritual power is unusual for your side of the family. You and your cousin James who shares your name aren't the same. You should be thankful for that. Your cousin is plagued with his power. His grandfather wishes to turn him into just another weapon of destruction for the sake of good. That is why I moved here to Earth. I wish for him to learn his lower powers. So he may control his higher powers better. You have a gift for seeing evil and that will help you to stay away from harm. Don't be reckless with your life. If you sense something too powerful for you to handle. There is no shame in running.

James nodded and then hugged his aunt.

I'll be safe, I promise.

Mark Adams was nearby. He saw his aunt Jade jumped down from the top of a small building. He didn't catch the entire conversation. Though he heard his cousin James Infinity's name mentioned. He saw her hug a random stranger. At least a stranger to his eyes. Mark hadn't seen his older brother James for ten years. Though, he heard Jade meantion his name. After about two minutes. It finally clicked that the man in front of him. Was none other than his older brother James Adams. He wanted to say hi. Though the words escaped him. His brother had been labeled a pariah in there household. Which had been a source of tension for many years.
