Naria looked over to the side of the platform where a lithe hybrid had just finished scaling the ladder attached to it. The youth was unattractive, having been the results of what had been a potential breeding experiment gone wrong. The crimson eyed child handed over a fancy looking scroll, flipped its hood back up, and scrambled back down, easily disappearing back into the crowd.

She listened with one ear as Besian continued to preach about the disadvantages of barricading the Oban-Matorian borders from outsiders or invaders; her attention mostly focused on the image in the wax seal. Well well, the illustrious King had finally reached a decision. One bitten nail made short work of the seal and while it took Naria a little to decipher the Kings short-handed kinfa scratch, she had their answer. Or Orders if you wanted to look at it from that angle.

Rolling the scroll back up she walked over to Besian and whapped him on the shoulder with it, thrusting it into his hands as he turned to protest. She ignored his grumbling and turned to address the crowd. "LISTEN UP!" She bellowed, voice cutting clear and sharp over the arguments and conversations. "OBANS Your King has made his decision! Any of you lot who want to HELP Sauti are free to volunteer your aid! Any help is welcomed! Already the King is assembling his guards and increased troop rotations and patrols are being worked out and implemented. Volunteers will have military might backing them up, this includes access to field healers!" She prowled from one end of the platform to the other, eyes sweeping across the mixture of races before her. She seemed to meet the eyes of everyone in the crowd at least once, a useful trick that had been taught to her when she'd been given her post.

"That said, anyone who DOES NOT wish to Volunteer you are asked to be ready to evacuate to Orrod should the need arise! Military runners will spread the word if this happens! I repeat! If you are UNABLE to or UNWILLING to fight, you are asked to be ready to evacuate."

Her orange eyes picked out the Matorians in the crowd, those of pureblood and those of mixed. "MATORIANS! The same goes for you! Those of you who wish to, and can fight alongside the Obans without starting trouble are welcomed to join the volunteer army! We will be fighting alongside them as allies. They have no power to order us around on a whim! Those days are over and they will know it when they see us in action!" She ignored Besian polite cough as he sensed her starting to go off topic. If he could lecture on and on about military strategy she could lecture about the injustice dealt to her people.

"Proud people of Matori! Let the world see that we are not broken! Let them hear our rallying cry!" She threw a fist up into the air, eyes alight with passion, "We will push these would-be invaders back to the forest they came from! We are MATORIANS!"

"Together we can overcome anything!" Besian cried, throwing his own fist into the air, back straight and head held high. "For we are ALLIES AND WE DO NOT LET THE OTHER FIGHT ALONE!"

Even Naria's muttered "Drama Queen" wasn't enough to burst the bubble of pride in Besians chest as he surveyed the crowd, the potential he saw in them all... This war would be glorious if it came to fruition.

Ichil- post 5

Ah, her father might well be preparing his troops as they spoke! Ichil perked at the announcement and thrust a fist into the air in solidarity. Imagine, a year ago the Water clan had been slaves at the hands of Obans. Now they were fighting together for a common good, not even their own. She was proud of her people for this, and proud to finally be worth something in battle.

She turned back to the brothers, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.

"I should be going," she said, offering her hand out to each of them in turn. "So I will see you at the front lines?"

Sebastien- post 5

With the clan leaders' rallying shouts Sebastien turned. That was it, then. They would be defending Sauti against the invaders, regardless of how little their defeat may impact Oba or Matori directly. Water and Fire clan members would lose their lives together, side-by-side. He was deeply saddened, afraid of what might come, but also proud of his people for coming to the defense of others. Maybe Oba was changing.

A middle-aged man appeared then, said something to Sebastien he could barely hear and waved him on.

"Ah. I have to go," he said to the young woman who had been keeping him company. They would likely be setting up the war beasts for travel. "Find me. When all of this is through. I'll be on the field, and then I'll be home, gods willing." With that said, he followed after his coworker, jogging behind the man with adrenaline rushing through his veins. So it was back to battle, was it? He was more ready this time.

Nuri Post 7

Nuri wanted to response to Aseara, to move forward with the safe discussion and get to know her once more. However, the Matori leader yelling caused his head to snap forward, and her words of their King caused his spine to straighten. It was as he assumed - the King had ordered war.

Shifting, he looked back to Aseara, giving her a silent gaze and wondering what there would be to say. He had to go, to head back and get his official orders on what he needed to do moving forward.

"Aseara..." He said softly over the cheers, stepping forward once again, "...I...I'll need to go and get my orders. There is no waiting with the King, and if we march we will be marching soon."

What else was there to say? He wasn't sure he could put to words exactly how he felt, but the truth was simple - he had to go.

"I don't want this to be another long farewell between us. I will come back, and I will find you again. We still have our training we need to do, and you need to show me how much you've improved since last time."

He gave her the time she needed to speak again, before taking her hand one last time and squeezing it softly, "Until next time...I'll be at your door with those candies."

Giving her a half smile, he dropped her hand and turned away, heading back to the palace to get his marching orders.

Eziya Post 7

"We should let Fiia and Thess know what's happening. We wouldn't want them to be left in the dark about everything," Eziya muttered, still relaxing against Serr. That was his family, and she was sure he'd at least want them to know what they planned on doing. "We should also prepare supplies. We can load things up on Gift so our carry loads are light." Gift squawked at the sound of her name and pecked at the two of them, apparently displeased with this option. The shifter worried that she was moving too fast and planning too early for everything, but she wanted to be ready. If the Alkidike managed to get passed Jauhar and into Sauti they would need to be ready for anything.

Kani Post 7

"I do not know what the two of you plan on doing, but I'm going to Sauti. The windlings will need all the help they can get, and what better help than a shaman?" Kani smiled, knowing her mind was set on the matter. She patted Nuawahn on the shoulder before walking over to Gael and taking his hands in hers. "I would like it if you would come and help. It would be good for us both to get out of Matori and see more of the land, but if you don't believe in this cause then I do not blame you for staying. You do what's best for you."

While she was greatly concerned for Gael, and even Nuawahn, if they stayed out of the fighting they would be safe for the moment. She could go and fight for the both of them and hopefully do well. If they didn't want to fight it would be okay. Kissing Gael on the cheek, she nodded and turned away, ready to join the volunteer army and set out towards Sauti.

Cerith: Post 5

Cerith didn't know what the best course was. Her brother... honestly couldn't be trusted to fight alongside Obans, and while Cerith could make herself, if it meant a better chance of success, there was no point if Jelanii wasn't with her. That, after all, was the whole point of going to war in the first place - because for her, it wasn't out of some naive desire for unity. She'd only ever met the other races briefly, after all, and Obans and Matorians had enough problems at home!

Mynshaka may want to stay here, rebuild Matori, but Cerith never wanted to go back to that place, if she had the chance. She smiled at him, nodding so he would be pleased, but looked afterwards at her brother, her expression plaintive. 'If we go, we have to go with them - can we, without a scene?' She asked with her eyes - shoulders slumped slightly in resignation. Or would they go to Orrod, with the evacuees? Would staying in Oba be much better for Jelanii than going to war itself? It was... a risk. It wasn't a field trip, not really - and if they lost they would risk being victims of this entire war, at the hands of the Tree women.

Gael Post 7

His attention went to the stage and he listened in to what was said. It wasn't what he wanted to hear but then again, he wasn't all that surprised. He was in the middle of giving a sigh when Kani took his hands. He blinked and looked at her, when she said she wanted him to come with her he wasn't sure how he could say no. Then she kissed his cheek and started to turn away from him. Just like that?

Oh deep seas, No! Gael reached out and grabbed Kani's wrist gently so that he could pull her back toward him. His other hand lifted up so that he could push some of her hair behind her ear, a ploy so that he could merely put his hand at her neck and pull her even closer. A kiss to the cheek was not enough. The matori male stole a full kiss from Kani, making sure he was still gentle. Moving a bit he backed off and grinned at her. "How could I say no when my beautiful Kani wants me to go?" It was Gael's turn to take her hand in his and he held on. "Come on, lets go help people." His eyes went toward the wind male and he nodded his head as a means to get him to follow the two.

SRIINA POST 7

Sriina shook her head. They were fools, all of them. She couldn't understand why they would just rush in for the sake of those who would have them used for their own gain.

But at the same time... she thought of her parents, and their surprise engagement that had been thrown on her. This could be her last chance to travel. It was silly of her to use this as an escape, but it was viable.

And it sounded like her last adventure before being chained to Matori and her husband.

Reillan post 5

"Yes I expect so, I with you the best of luck." Reillan kissed her hand. "Stay safe out there Ichill, we will help if we can. Keelthy is fast and I am strong we make a good pair." Reillan clapped a hand on his brother's back before sidling off to pack. He hoped that Yitzah would be there and that he would find her in time. He didn't want her alone and relatively unprotected when the wave of battle crashed over their heads. This would be his first battle and he was excited and nervous..would his skills truly be good enough to get him through this.

Keelthy Post 5

"I'm not sure if they will put me on the front or as help on the sidlines but I'll be near, maybe I'll be able to zip in and help, I must admit that melee for a dagger wielder is a little intimidating, I'm built to dance not to fight." He worried for himself, for his brother, for yitzah for all those who fought to keep sauti safe. Would they be able to do it? Would the alk's have a big surprise hidden away that would fix their odds? Could he protect the brother that meant everything to him? He didn't know. But he too kissed Ichill's hand right where his brother had. "Be safe." He said before he too disappeared into the crowd.

Irro Post 5

"Thank you Sebastian, for your help and your kindness, I hope you stay safe out there." She waved him off, would she see him again? Who knew. But the thought of a perzi kitten cheered her in the face of the insurmountable prospect of war to defend another province from land hunger tresspassers, maybe they should all go and camp on chibale, see how the alks liked that tshaw. Then what would they do get rid of all of tendaji because they had set foot on their precious island..maybe Aisha needed some earthling gardeners to save her. Who knew? She went to go pack. It was time to travel again and she was ready to be on the move.

"Bleh.... that Besian guy needs to shut up.. what is he some guy out of a badly written ballad?" He said with a slightly disgusted expression on his face as the Oban soldier tried to encourage the crowd and act all noble and spouted way too flowery and foolish words if you asked Mynshaka. "Great... off to war we go.. More people to die in other lands." He shook his head. His people hadn't been free that long so how many actually knew how to fight? Of course it could be practice for fighting Obans.. and a way to see them in action and start formulating plans to counter them.

"How many of us are going to die since we don't know how to war?" He said softly as watched people look excited for war. He could fight... but he wasn't sure he could kill someone other than an oban.

"Ye going?" He asked Cerith, she seemed to be stronger from when he'd last seen her, but her expression seemed to be asking to not go. If she went.. maybe he'd go. Otherwise eh'd be aloine in a strange land near too man obans... and he wasn't sure he could keep himself from attacking....

Tera Post 5

Tera turned to look in the direction of the two 'leaders' as they were suddenly yelling about what it was that they were going to be doing. It seemed that they were... going to war? It was something that had him going stockstill, his body shivering a bit from head to toe. This wasn't what he wanted at all, having only left home because he wanted to get a peek at the festival. A shame that he wasn't allow to enjoy something like that. What turned out just to be a tense situation wasn't what he'd wanted to be a part of at all. He wasn't a warrior, didn't learn to use a sword, nor did he want to use his magic to harm others. He wanted to help Kyruie and Ashta, that was it.

Taking a step back away from the Oban woman that he'd been sort of chatting with he said, "I... I need to go. I'm no fighter..." He had to go home or find the two brothers, that was all. Better get moving or else you're going to get caught up in all of this the voice in his head said in a hushed tone. It was something that caused him to turn on his heel, hurrying away from the woman so that he could get moving. He wanted to either find the two brothers or get home, maybe both.

Saraf Post 6

Crossing his arms over his chest Saraf drew in a deep breath, held it for a moment, and then let it out slowly. It was something he repeated a couple times to keep himself in check as the pair on stage called out orders. They weren't a pair that he trusted, nor were they the sort that he would normally even bother to give a moment's notice. A traitor to their people who was sleeping around with some Northern savage, and a member of the Matori who were useful as slaves, not military leaders. So pathetic were the Matori that they had to go crawling to those in the North for aid against their 'big, bad, scary Oban oppressors'.

Shaking his head he turned to look over at Kalli, giving her a long look as she produced a dagger, asking if it counted, "So long as it's sharp it can be used against those who get in your way, so yes." He told her before looking toward the stage once more. He wasn't sure how well, he didn't think she looked like a member of the Oban Army, but still, she could have gotten training somewhere, right?

"While I find myself questioning if this is truly the will of Jonal I feel we should probably be on the move. Our king has spoken and even if his mouthpiece is a traitor and a fish I am not one who will ignore his words." He'd just question the man's choices when it came to who he trusted to speak for him was all. This was merely another nudge for Saraf toward his goal of one day becoming a general in the army. At least that way the king would have someone who truly cared for Oba first at his side. Giving a nod he said, "I need to find a friend of mine named Nuri, if you want to tag along with us, feel free." He told the girl before he started forward, seeking out his friend.

Kalliope Post 7

Well at least she wasn't completely without a means of defense. Kalli chuckled and let go of her skirt so that it would cover the weapon again. Her attention went toward the stage when things were announced and then she brought her eyes back toward the Oban male she was speaking to. He seemed to question the words of the two but seemed to resign to the fact that it was an order from their king. "I wouldn't think those two would lie about what the King has said." After all, it was a crime to go against the words of their monarch like that.

When he told her she was welcome to tag along she smiled and nodded then started to walk with him. Kalli hooked her arm with his, her hand resting at the crease of his elbow, and made sure to keep up with him.

Istanell Post 6

He hadn't considered the possibility of a crystal cracking or flat out breaking... that would probably be painful. Though, maybe it wouldn't. He had no way of knowing, none of his had ever been damaged as such.

His attention turned fully to the speakers once again as they called out over the crowd. Istanell stood for a moment, taking it in. Another were, and here he was thinking of joining... his brothers though! First his brothers that he could actually find. And then the brothers he'd yet to find...

He turned to Amarone and nodded his head in some semblance of a bow. "Find someone would a messenger kinfa if you're able. I also need to get word to my family..." Well more so, he needed to find out what Incanthis and Illian were thinking... and if he could convince them to evacuate or not. Most likely not, with how things were... but if he could keep them close to his side instead? He would take that. "May we meet again, Amarone." He was already moving passed her, into the crowds.

serr post six

The moment over, Serr stepped away as Gift pecked and squawked her reluctance to be used as a pack beast. He was still surprised to see many Obans and Matorians moving to follow their rulers' and leaders' orders without much complaint, and though he wished to join them as soon as he could, Eziya had a point. He would head back to Belpol first to warn his aunt and her newest ward before rallying to fight.

"Yes, all right. We can gather what we need on the way." He often felt twinges of amazement that she was still traveling with him when he regularly proved a little awkward to be around, but she had included herself on this side trip without a thought. He could only assume she actually wanted to come.

"If we're quick we can be in Sauti before they arrive."

Aseara - Post #7

When the shouting began, Aseara tensed and turned her eyes to the two on the platform. It looked like there would be another war after all. It looked like both the Obans, through their king’s decision, and the Matorians were going to be going to fight against the Alkidikes. Ironic a little if one thought about it, Obans and the Matori working together to aid Sauti. Though Aseara really didn`t like what she was hearing from the Matori woman. It sounded very similar to a speech she`d heard many years ago before her father had left for war and then her mother to follow in his footsteps.

Fear gripped Aseara`s chest making her want to double over but she was frozen. Even as Nuri approached closer to talk, she was barely registering what he was saying. Even as he said he would be back, how could she possibly trust him? They hadn’t come back; they’d left her by herself. And while Aseara was much older now, less vulnerable than she had been, it struck a chord within her. He couldn’t leave her mind as spinning. He was going to abandon her like they had, he couldn’t leave, he just couldn’t.

There were no words, Aseara couldn’t form them. She only stared at him as her mind worked faster than she could register. When she felt he was about to drop her hand she squeezed, pulling just a little because she could not say what she wanted to. Aseara took a deep breath and released his hand. She could not keep him here; she couldn’t even keep her own parents from abandoning her. There were so many things she wanted to say to Nuri, but she knew she couldn’t because she understood his duty to the king. Aseara closed her eyes and calmed her thoughts when Nuri finally disappeared behind the crowd.

Sauti was where her people were, she didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of others fighting for her people while she stayed back and did nothing. No, it didn’t feel right at all. Opening her eyes, Aseara turned to head back to her room. She was not a fighter, but there were other things she could do to help her people even if they were small things. She had to get through to Afsana first, make her understand that she had to do this and put the past behind her.

It was time to return home.
