The vines tried to keep him from moving forward, but Tarzan would've been jealous with the show of strength Dawson displayed there. Growling, he ripped several off with a tug of his arms and marched straight on. No bullshit this time.

Dawson had done such a good job destroying the vines as he stormed through, that Maebe (who was suitably in awe of his Tarzan-like ways at the moment) just toddled on through, unhindered, and untouched. "So. Uhm." She pinched her face up in frustration when they reached the shore. "I think the lake is scared of you now. Hell, I'm a little scared of you." But not really. Stamina: 15

He snorted and in seconds reverted back to Teddy Bear mode. "Naw, just got pissed at those damn things s'all," he said with an edge of sheepishness, rubbing at his arm and over a line where the vines had cut into his barrier. "Didn' want them touchin' ya again." Dawson was happy to see that he had done a good job of that at least.
Now, for the hall of scary s**t again. Gulping, he took one step and cringed as his body was coated in scarabs. Not even the weight of a lot of stone bugs, however, were enough to stop the trainee was running like hell again as the bull chased him. He was grateful for once for all the cardio Chris made him do.

Didn' want them touchin' ya again.Child, no.Thaw's warning silenced Maebe, but came too late to affect her mood. She turned quiet, pensive, and uncharacteristically bashful. It was easy to focus on the task at hand, when all she wanted to do was forget how protective that sounded, and how important it felt to be protected. This was why he was a Moon, she reminded herself, as she stared into the eyes of a metal bird that watched her every move. This was his job. The cerberus that found her stole her pensive mood away, as she bolted away from it as quickly as possible. A few tumbles and scrapes later, the scarabs abandoned Dawson for a target that screamed a lot louder, and she bounced in horror as she tried to rip them all off of her body. She could still feel them in her hair, where they tried to hide from her hands, and she fumbled back into a run as she ran her hands against her scalp and combed them viciously out. Her poor bun was destroyed in the process, leaving her hair a wild, untamed mess. Stamina: 4

Between the weirdly heavy feeling of being watched as he approached the garden and the sounds of Maebe's screaming, he couldn't do it. Two steps in, he changed his mind, doubled back, and pulled what scarabs he could nab off with a git, git I said!
They both needed a breather.

"Yeah," he murmured in return, patting her shoulder for reassurance. Maybe they wouldn't have to worry about them this time. "I'll getcha somethin' after we get the thing, how's that sound? Still owe ya that bourbon bacon bouquet."
He gave the pool an extra stern look as he crossed. The poor lady had been through enough.

"Yes, I think your tab is definitely on the rise." She chuckled out weakly, as they trudged towards the lake. His stern look worked, but it might have helped that she was on his heels almost annoyingly close throughout the entire walk over. Following in his footsteps worked like a charm, even if she did bump her face into his back a couple of times.
