When Trey eventually did look up from his drawing he had a moment of panic when he saw the empty pokemon bowl sans a snivy. However he didn't have to look far before he saw Vita looking into a bush?
Leaving his payment and putting his sketchbook and pencils away Trey stood up and headed towards where his pokemon was.
"What..are you looking at?" the boy asked hunching down and looking into the bush VIta was looking at.
He was more than a little startled when a pair of brown eyes looked back at him.

Trey was unprepared when the puppy pokemon hiding in the bushes jumped out at him. Vita however wasn't and with a cry jumped in between the normal type and her trainer.
What happened next was foreign to Trey, His snivy chattered out to the lillipup and apparently decided battling was a good choice. He could only watched dumbfounded as the battle went on.
"You're...sorta a scraper aren't you" he said with a bit of a smile when VIta was done.
'Vy' the small pokemon said climbing back into her trainer's shoulder.
Trey bit his lip seeming to consider something before throwing a pokeball.
"Welcome to the team" he said after the pokeball had clicked. "Chance"

After the impromptu battle it occurred to Trey that he needed to take his pokemon to a pokemon center.
Ducking into one Trey smiled at the pleasantries from the nurse Joy and handed over his pokeballs.
While she took care of that, he sat down and waited taking out his sketchbook to leaf through some of the drawings in it.

While he was doodling Trey noticed a pokemon had been watching him. A cute little vulpix was watching him as he drew. Trey looked at the pokemon as he drew, smiling as it tilted it's head to the side and started doodling the vulpix too.
By the time he was done with the doodle the vulpix was standing in front of him. The little fox bunted her head against his knee and Trey reached out to pet her.
"Will you please take her?"
Trey looked up to see an elderly woman. She leaned heavily on a cane and had a kindly smile on her face.
"Umm..sorry what?"
"I can't take care of her anymore " the woman said gesturing to the vulpix. "I love her dearly but I bought her for my grandaughter and she left for college and left her. I've been taking care of her but it's getting to be a lot."
The old woman leaned a bit more on her cane, looking at the vulpix with a sad almost doting smile. "She clearly likes you..would you take her?"
Trey didn't think it was a good idea. He wasn't sure he was even a good enough trainer to be trusted with one pokemon let alone with someone else's. He wasn't sure the vulpix Obviously liked him. He wasn't-
He found himself holding a pokeball a few minutes later.
"So Lyra huh" he said pocketing the vulpix's pokeball and thanking the nurse Joy when she brought the rest of them back.

Obtained Vulpix! ( from Horoscope Event)

Trey spent the next of that day introducing Lyra to the rest of the team, which had gone...with varying degrees of success. Which was to say, the little Vulpix had turned her nose up at her new trainer and team and ignored Vita's screeching and Chance's bark to sunbathe.
Yeah...yeah this was going great.
Still Trey had to admit the Vulpix was pretty cute, and while she didn't exactly listen to him at least she didn't run off or seek fights with her team mates...actually she seemed rather content being a lap pokemon.

Trey was still doodling in the same table at the same cafe where he had gotten his pokemon food when he saw it.
Orange scales and antenaes, he felt himself tense up, eyes following the pokemon. His hand stopped mid-line still hovering over the paper and was now begining to shake.
It wasn't his father's Dragonite, it couldn't be. Still the pressure was back, sitting somewhere in his lungs, putting his instincts on alert and within seconds Trey was stumbling away. He couldnt..he couldn't stay here, his dad was going to find him. He was going to see. He was going to see Trey was bad and hadn't done what he had been told and had only caught a lilupup and ooh god oh god oh god he was going to hate Lyra taking pity-taking presents-it was disgraceful of a Treyson and he couldn't and he couldnt'..he couldn't. oh god
"I.. can't... I can't. stay here" Trey muttered, palms planted on his knees as he tried to calm himself down enough, tried to breathe and think and-but he couldn't.
Between one breath and the next Trey managed to stand up( somewhat shakily) and shove all his things in his bag. Between the next breath and the one after that he was sprinting at a speed that belied his flight instinct had been activated. He barely managed to understand what the person at the bus station was saying. Didn't really tune in until he was sitting on the bus.
That hadn't been his dad's dragonite, but it could have been. It could have been and if it had been his father would have found him. Trey didn't have a single badge yet. He had gotten distracted, and even if it wasn't his fault he would still pay for it.
Trey didn't know where he was going but he knew he couldn't stay in the region. His father could find, would probably try at some point if he stayed there, and that wasn't any different than living with him.
He didn't even notice when his breathing eased, when the adrenaline left him and when he fell asleep.
