Faraday gave a sigh of relief as the Makuhita finally fell. It had been a risk using Dresden in that second battle but the rabbit had held his own for long enough to weaken the thing so that someone else could come in and finish the task. He owed him a treat or something for putting him through that. Returning Murphy to her ball, he looked to Brawly and offered the young man a smile, nodding and taking the offered items from him.
"Thanks, it was a good fight." He remarked as he took the objects, absently flicking his wrist and making them disappear into his bag. Offering a hand, he gave a surprised looking Brawly a final handshake and a wave good bye before turning and heading out of the gym and back to the pokemon center. He’d get his team healed up and them it was on to the next place. He’d actually need to find a boat to take him off of Dewford and also needed to consider a way to reward his team… he’d promised Sissil as much after all. Maybe there was a bakery somewhere nearby too…

With his team healed up, Faraday took a seat at one of the vacant tables. He set the map he’d taken from a nearby rack and set it down to look at. There was no bakery in town, much to the misfortune of his team but seeing as how he needed to head out anyways, he’d find one in the next city over to treat his team for how well they’d preformed. For now, they deserved a good rest.
The next major city was Slateport; that place probably had a bakery or two given its size. Then again… there was also Mauville City which definitely had some nice places to check. It was a big city too; bigger than Slateport. Plus, it had the next gym if he felt so inclined to try it. What was it… electric or something? He’d probably need to train up his team just a tad bit more before he was ready for that. But there’d be plenty of time to do it… and maybe do some shopping. It’d been a good while since he’d treated himself to some magic equipment.
Alright, decision made! Folding the map up, he returned and headed out the center towards the docks to get himself a ticket on the next boat out. Once that was achieved he took a seat and waited until the boat showed up, boarding and heading on his way to Slateport Ctiy.

Upon arriving in Dewford Town, Calvin took a quick look around. Dewford was a completely new town for him, one in which he had never been. He wasn't at all surprised to see that a girl wanted to challenge him to a battle upon him stepping off the boat. She must've seen Ryujin and automatically assumed he was a Pokémon trainer. Calvin had no problem with it and decided that it would be best for their training to battle the girl.
He did wonder what exactly the girl had to offer in terms of Pokémon. He was halfway expecting for some sort of rare Pokémon to come out of the ball she threw out. Calvin had already ran into an Omastar and a Cresselia. What was next...Rayquaza itself? That would truly be a sight to behold.

Erika sends out Foongus and Calvin calls back Victoria to call out Marcella.

Result: Marcella obliterated Foongus with a powerful flamethrower that is super effective, doing a whopping 180 damage against foongus. It couldn't withstand the attack and fainted after the one hit KO. Marcella wins the round and gains 10 exp! Calvin calls back Marcella and sends Sauron out. Erika sends out Meganium

The girl Erika looked a little disappointed that all of her Pokémon were defeated by Calvin's, but Calvin had a lot of fun in the battle. It was his toughest battle yet. He hoped that all of his battles would get tougher and tougher because that meant that his Pokémon would be getting amazing training. So, instead of letting the girl be disappointed while walking to the Pokémon center, Calvin praised her and walked her there. He needed to heal up his Pokémon after their battle anyway.
When the group of two got there, they walked up to Nurse Joy and presented her their Pokémon. Nurse Joy smiled and took them and while they waited, Calvin spoke to the girl. They talked about a wide range of subjects from Pokémon to even schooling. The girl herself was pretty cute and Calvin didn't find it completely unbearable to converse with her. Her name was Melanie and she was from Lilycove City. They even exchanged numbers at the end of their conversing.
When their Pokémon were brought out to them, they had to part ways because she was bound for Slateport City to go see her father. Calvin walked her to the ferry and gave a wave when she boarded, sort of hoping that he could have a bit more time with her, but hey, he could talk to her via calling her if he wanted. Ryujin did burst his bubble a bit though, saying he should be focusing on training rather than girls. But naturally, Calvin didn't see the problem with multitasking at times.

Calvin had set up camp on the outskirts of Dewford Town, towards Dewford Town cave with Ryujin and Lupup helping him out yet again by pitching the tent. It had to be one of the more amusing experiences of his life, because Victoria had laid out the instruction and was quite literally barking out orders to Ryujin. It almost brought a smile to Calvin's covered face. Honestly, it excited him that Victoria was warming up to him, enough so to pitch his tent for him while he foraged for berries to use for food. 'Can we just sleep in sleeping bags outside? I don't think I've ever been more frustrated in my life. Not to mention Victoria is barking instructions at me faster than I can even comprehend. Who knew she can even read in English?". Calvin shook his head because he knew that it was going to be cold that night. He was not going to go through another night like they had in Petalburg.
"You sure Victoria isn't explaining the illustrations? She's smart, but I really doubt she can read English," he asked curiously with a laugh. To which Ryujin responded with a nod of embarrassment that he actually thought the Pokémon could read at such a young age. It would've certainly been amazing, but it is also hard to believe for him. "But forget about that...I'll help you out with the tent," he said to Ryujin, moving over to him to pitch the tent.
About five minutes passed before their goal was achieved and the tent itself seemed sturdy enough. So, Calvin took the time to take a seat on a nearby stump to take a break. It was at that moment when a familiar Skarmory landed on the ground beside their camp, a headband adorning the horn on top of its head, signifying its owner almost immediately to Calvin. This was his uncle's Skarmory, and he came with a small package in his beak. The Skarmory looked at him and happily rubbed his beak up against him. Calvin smiled and pet its head. "Hey Yiora. Ryujin, Victoria, this is Yiora, my Uncle's Skarmory.," Calvin said to his Pokémon. Victoria fled into the tent however and Ryujin had met the Skarmory with nothing more than a nod. It was obvious that his Pokémon weren't used to meeting new Pokémon. "Forgive these two...both are too antisocial at times. So, I see you have a package. Is that for me?" Yiora nodded her head and dropped the package at his feet happily. And after a happy goodbye, she took off to go back to Calvin's uncle.
Calvin sat there, wondering how exactly Yiora thought to look in Dewford of all places. But, before he started to think about that, he opened the package to look at its contents.
Dear Nephew,
Your mother had told me that she sent you your dad's old Pokémon so I figured you are finally starting your journey. I tried to beat you to Littleroot to see if I could get a glimpse of you getting your first Pokémon. Alas, it seems my plans proved to not be possible given time restraints. But, when I had gotten to Littleroot, Birch had told me that you had just left, but not because you came to get your starter, but because you had encountered a Legendary Pokémon! But what I found more interesting is that you had a Gallade with you, one in which was not a normal one, but a dragon. He told me fire spewed from its blade and he likened it to the legendary dragon itself: Rayquaza. I'm happy to hear such a thing, you must be becoming a stronger trainer and soon you will eclipse even myself. I look forward to that day where we battle and I see you as my own equal. Metagross and I await you and your Gallade.
To show how proud I am of you and how proud i know your father would've been, in the package is a present in which I found on my many journeys through the regions. The rock may not look like much, but it is actually Galladite, the megastone that allows Gallade to mega evolve. I hope it proves to be of more use to you than it has been for me. And I even had the stone placed on a bracelet with the family crest. Good luck on your journey nephew!
P.S. A friend of mine told me he saw you getting on a ferry towards Dewford, so I sent Yiora there to find you. Hopefully you are there or this might take a lot longer for it to get to you

Calvin looked to the megastone in bewilderment. Where in the world did his uncle find such a stone. He would question the man later, but first priority was to try it out. He put the bracelet on, the stone shining brightly. He called Ryujin over to put on the necklace. "Okay, let's try to get you to megaevolve my friend," he said brightly, the Pokémon nodding in agreement. It was said that megaevolution can only be undergone if the trainer and the Pokémon had a strong bond together and Calvin believed he had that with Ryujin. Both of them in the past months together grew close and he was sure they trusted one another. Calvin touched the keystone, nodding towards Ryujin. Both the keystone and megastone shined brightly and he watched as Ryujin mega evolved before his eyes.
When the shine was gone, Ryujin had a new form and it was just as amazing as the next. Calvin didn't know if Ryujin had the capability of mega evolving because of the rock may have reacted differently, but Calvin was wrong. "Well, this feels...different," Ryujin communicated to him.
"Well, use leaf blade on that tree right there and see the effects," Calvin said to Ryujin, who gladly did so. Calvin watched as the Pokémon threw a powerful leaf blade at the tree and practically cut through it. Calvin, still a little wide-eyed, couldn't believe what he saw. "Wow...that was truly amazing my friend."

Calvin, still a bit bewildered and even amazed by the power of Ryujin in his Mega form, was at a loss for words. Words couldn't quite describe the power that resonated from Ryujin's blades. His silence remained for a few moments before his Pokémon broke it, communicating to him that they needed to train. Calvin nodded his head to the notion, agreeing with the Pokémon. "Sorry, I'm just a bit amazed at this new form. I've heard about mega evolution and I've done a lot of research on it, but I've never saw it before. It's like I can feel the pure strength emanating from you," he admitted to Ryujin whom had seemed to brush it off. The Pokémon knew that it was more powerful, but Ryujin wasn't one that liked attention, and sure was going to be getting a lot of it. A mega-evolved, one of a kind Pokémon.
"It really is nothing. Let's get to training," The Pokémon wasn't having it, it seemed. It didn't want to be the center of attention, but Ryujin was destined to be the center of attention unfortunately. It's uniqueness saw to that and the Pokémon needed to start to get used to the fact that no one was going to look at him just once upon walking by.
"Alright, let's go then. I'll throw some rocks at you, you need to cut them in half," he said to Ryujin, picking up a few stones off of the ground. And with that, they began to train as hard as they could.

Calvin watched his Pokémon perform with the utmost grace and skill. Ryujin's blade arm techniques were getting better as each day passed. Calvin didn't know much in the art of the sword, but surely he could find someone who did. Surely they could teach him how to critique his Pokémon's technique better. "You look like you are handling yourself a little better than when you first started. I need to read up on sword techniques and buy myself a blade so we can practice together," Calvin said to Ryujin, whom calmly obliged.
"I agree. Then we can grow together as we travel," Ryujin assured him, nodding. Calvin knew first hand just how razor sharp Ryujin's arm's were and he knew it could fend off an attack from another blade. Calvin just knew that Ryujin would have to tone down his power because a Pokémon is much more powerful than a human.
"I think that my mother can buy a sword around the town from one of the Foretree elders. I can have Maverick fetch it when I send him to live with my mother," he said to Ryujin in full confidence. Maverick was very timid and not a fan of battling at all. But he had to realize that he had a huge advantage over the Dewford Town Gym Leader. But once they were done in Dewford,h e would send the Pokémon to live with his mother as a message Pokémon, much like his Uncle's Skarmory.
Ryujin and Calvin went to sit down next to Victoria, who was bye the camp playing with a few Beautiflies that found their way over by the camp. All was serene, until a sound in the distance was heard. A shadow ball pelted down on them, but Ryujin quickly turned a misdirected it off into the distance.

He watched as the ball shook at a rapid pace, but as it shook, he noticed it start to slow...and slow...and slow...and slow ever more, then, as he was watching it, the center circle blinked red. Ryujin gained 20 experience plus the effects of energy drink add another 10. Ryujin gains 30 exp!
Ryujin easily conquered the challenge with relative ease, downing the Pokémon in one blow. Calvin looked over him to find that he hadn't even gotten a single scratch out of the battle, which made his life a lot easier. "Well, that was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be," he said, wondering why that Meowth had a witch hat on. "Do Meowth normally wear hats like that. I've never actually seen one." Ryujin responded with a shrug of his shoulders, the Pokémon having no idea either.
"I have no idea. You seem to forget that I'm technically only 6 to 10 months old. I haven't seen anything like that Pokémon before," Ryujin responded, going back to the camp to take a seat and eat some of the food laying around within its boundaries, joining Victoria. It wasn't long however until another Pokémon had came flying into their camp, but this time Ryujin pushed Victoria forward to deal with the attacker.

Touching down once more from flight, Lafayette was feeling a smidgen better. Not so much that the battles were doing anything to relieve his soured attitude from the events earlier in the day, but Dova was becoming much smoother in her flight and landing and he had noticed. He was half expecting to take a dive into the ocean again the moment he spotted it, but Dova avoided that instead making a steady landing on the beach front.
He gave her scratch under the chin for that before returning her, Noah and Cheri on his heels as he headed in the direction of the gym. Once more he stepped inside and looked around; this place looked like a work-out gym and for a moment he considered trying a work out. Maybe that’d help? Of course, he had better things to do and at this moment, he’d rather be fighting than lifting weights.
With that idea quickly determined and sent away, he maneuvered his way around the equipment and people training until he found the gym floor and a fellow by the name of Brawly who apparently was the leader. He looked ready and rearing to go for the battle, Lafayette unable to help the slightly amused smirk that crossed his face as he sent Cheri out once more.

Brawly rubbed the nape of his neck as he recalled his Makuhita, a sheepish expression crossing his face. It was disappointing to have his team be completely wiped out on the first turn, but that was how some battles went; no use in complaining about them. "That's a mighty strong Espurr you've got," he commented, then beat his first together for emphasis. "With a pretty tough head." Brawly chuckled as he swaggered over to Lafayette, tossing him his badge before actually handing him his TM. "Knuckle Badge and Bulk Up respectively, congratulations on your win."

Well now that was rather pathetic. Well, Cheri was strong and she really liked to use her head (which was rather interesting given her typing) but the first gym had certainly been more of a … challenge. Everything here? One-time, no struggle. It was… kind of sad honestly.
"Ta… mate." Lafayette murmured, reacting quickly to snatch the badge out of the air as it was tossed his way, eyeing it a moment before looking up at the TM as well. He forced a smile (he’d been frowning up until that point) as he gave a nod and took the disc.
"She does. Need’ta teach ‘er a bettah move." Cheri just stared up at him at that remark, raising a single paw to rub her forehead, gaze unwavering. She was so weird. Noah made a face, poking her and Lafayette shook his head. He gave a wave to Brawly and headed out the gym once more. There wasn’t even a need to go to the pokemon center this time, since Cheri hadn’t sustained any damage, so without hesitation he summoned Dova. He and the others climbed aboard and off they went for the next gym in the region. Once this was out of the way he could head off to another region and almost be caught up. This was going smoothly all things considered…

His motivation jaded the more time he spent in the sandy beaches of Dewford town. His training had hit a standstill, his Pokemon deciding that it was better to stand and loaf around than to actually train. It seemed that there was a distinct lack of respect that his Pokemon had given him. It was either that or they had grown so fond of him that they decided to take advantage of his kindness. He certainly hoped it was the latter, but part of him questioned if it was truly the first. Ryujin seemed to be the only one that listened to him and it became quite the annoyance. What was he doing wrong? How could he change them for the better?
Most likely sensing the issues stirring within him, Ryujin made his way over to Knight, taking a seat behind him. "Master, I--," he started to communicate telepathically before Calvin interrupted him.
"Ryujin, I am not your master in any way. We are partners. Please refer to me as such," Calvin said to him, a distinct look of concern marked his half exposed face. Calvin did not have a clue why the Pokemon insisted on referring to him as master.
A silence came over between them, the sting of the sun contacting his partially exposed skin. It was hot to say the least. And the way he was dressed didn't help with getting any cooler. Part of him desired to go jump in the salty sea water, but that would mean unwrapping his bandages for the world to see...and he just wasn't ready to do that.

"I could feel the emotion you were having from the outside. Would you like to talk about that? Do you feel you are failing us?" The pokemon asked with a tone denoting pure sincerity. Ryujin seemed concerned about his trainer, but Calvin didn't exactly like talking about any feeling he had. But it certainly put him at a disadvantage when he had a Pokemon that could literally read his emotions like an open book.
But Calvin sat there...silent as he tried to find his wording. He didn't want to sound too negative because Ryujin didn't apply to what he was about to say. But maybe he could use it to get Ryujin to talk to the other Pokémon about how their trainer was feeling.
